Just arriving into Puerto Rico, this was the first stop on our food tour, and it did not disappoint! From the food, the drinks, the customer service, this restaurant got 5 stars! The restaurant is located on its hotel rooftop. It is open air so you feel the breeze while you dine. Bring a jacket or a shawl, because it can get a little chilly. Top faves that we ordered were the dumplings and the salmon tartare. Both were delicious and flavorful. The sauce in the dumplings was top tier. Make sure you order both of these. The branzino as charred so it was a surprise, so it was a little dry but still had flavor. The Waygu burgers didn't not have the best reputation however we ordered them anyway and they were on par with the other reviews. I had a custom cocktail, a tequila spin on amaretto sour, which was both delicious and a bit nostalgic. We also ordered the "Sennin", which was a bit overpowered by the peppercorn. Overall, I still rate this experience with 5 stars. Definitely visit ( and I recommend making reservations) while you are in Carolína and San Juan.
For our first night in Puerto Rico, we had dinner at Kumo to take in the beautiful views of the ocean. We loved the unique Japanese Peruvian fusion that their menu offered. Our waitress was attentive, and we appreciated her recommendation to add on more toast with our burrata appetizer so that everyone could enjoy. The food and drinks were all great! They had a WiFi issue with their POS system at the end, and even though we got a notification that we were charged, they said it wasn't received on their end. We ended up having to charge a different card again, but Nelson, the manager, made us feel better and made sure the phone number was written down so that they could reverse the charge if it comes through again. Overall a great vibe and nice way to kick off our vacation.
We booked a 5pm dinner at Kumo Rooftop on a windy day, and worried that it might be too gusty to enjoy a leisurely meal. No problem, it turned out -- we had a table on the West (leeward) side, and the wind was no issue, even at that elevation. So let's move on to the service, food, and drink. Our server was excellent - informative, describing details of menu items, and being sufficiently available without being a bother. Then the drinks! I ended up have two different cocktails; both were well thought out and assembled (the "Inti" and the "Rey Choro"). We had an appetizer of the dumplings of the day, filled with a pork-shrimp mix and with a great sauce. My entree was a Peruvian noodle dish with seafood, also excellent. I washed it down with a Japanese IPA that was blended with matcha green tea! A great way to close out the last day of our Puerto Rico trip.
Kumo nails it when it comes to vibe, service, and presentation. The restaurant has a beautiful view of the water, making it a lovely spot to unwind. The service was excellent -- attentive and friendly from start to finish. We ordered the sesame-glazed duck waffles, which were flavorful and well-prepared, but like the rest of the menu, the portion was very small. The sliders, while tasty, were shockingly tiny -- about the size of Oreo cookies -- which felt a bit odd for a main dish. We also had two cocktails: the Flor de Lima and the Rey Choro. Both were well-made and refreshing. Overall, the food and drinks were good, and the experience was pleasant. But considering the portion sizes, it's hard to say the price matches the value. Worth checking out for the ambiance and service, but just know you may leave a little hungry.
KUMO in Puerto Rico definitely delivers when it comes to ambiance--the space is beautifully designed with a breezy, tropical aesthetic that gives off Tulum vibes. With views overlooking the ocean, it's the kind of spot you want to fall in love with. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite match the setting. #1: Flame burrata: this was easily the weakest dish of the day. The flavor of the cheese was nearly nonexistent--1/5. #2: Yasai and tofu: The tofu had a nice balance between soft and crisp textures and was seasoned well. The Brussels sprouts had a solid crunch and were nicely cooked. I'd give it a 3.7/5. #3: Tofu sudao, which came labeled as "spicy," was a bit of a letdown. It was a tomato-based curry that hinted at South Indian flavors but didn't quite commit. It lacked depth and any type of heat, and the tofu was too soft to absorb the sauce in any meaningful way which ended up making it taste bland; 3/5. #4: Sides - edamame, which turned out to be one of the more enjoyable bites--simple but well-seasoned and full of flavor, 4/5. #5: Kumo Salad with tofu was pretty good with my favorite part being the surprise taste of the cashews that added a good crunch. 3.8/4. Overall, KUMO is a place with serious visual appeal, and the atmosphere makes it a great choice for a sunset drink or casual hangout. But if you're coming primarily for the food, it might not live up to the setting--at least not yet. 3 stars for now, with room to grow if the kitchen can match the energy of the space.
Your meal starts with a nice cocktail list and an excellent view. The menu is not large but items are selected to pair well together. The cuisine is Peruvian-Japanese. I have no idea how well it matches up to that standard , as I have never heard of this before. However I am glad I have now. Loved the mushroom skewers and the kumo salad (burrata made an excellent salad topper). The sudao was not as spicy as the menu implied but still good. All the dishes seemed thoughtful and well-prepared. My partner raved about her prawn. We had two excellent servers though the kitchen was a little slower than it seemed that it should be based on the house.
Breakfast and dinner was equally amazing. The views of the ocean during the day and the magic of the lights was beyond our expectations. Service was more personal at the evening time but we were also celebrating and they were packed with reservations needed so to that's all to be expected. Breakfast: Two eggs scrambled hard, cheddar Plain coffee **Breakfast potatoes w/parm!!!! Croissant buttered with blue berry jam Dinner: Pork belly w/broccolini Kumo salad Chicken Robata **Mocha desert!!
Amazing food. Amazing views no matter where you sit. Staff was so so friendly. We came here for breakfast and it was fairly empty. Our food took a little long but our waiter was very attentive and keeping us updated and regardless we weren't in a rush anyway. And then he gave us a free coffee as a thank you for being so patient . Great place all around!! Will def be coming back next time in PR again
Beautiful restaurant, very sexy and romantic. We were a party of 7 and we had a nice time because the food was Fuego The food was delicious from the appetizers to the entrees!! The duck was soooo good and cooked to perfection. The service was okay, could of been better for the type restaurant the present themselves to be. Our waitress was standoffish; made sense once we got the check though because the tip was included in the check, a nice tip too! I would definitely return because of the food when I'm in the area again, the food is worth it. Only giving it 3 stars because of the service.
Four drinks I tried are good, but Bloody Mary's was terrible. Service is the worse. Took me over 30 mins to get a waitress to come give me a menu at the pool. Then another 30 to get the drinks and another 30 to get the bill. The coffee machine broke at both restaurants. The food was decent. Dont come eat here until they get their shit right
What a great meal! From the ambiance, service, and food, it was a great experience. It is at the top of the Aire Hotel which was conveniently right next door to our condo rental. Every seat has a beautiful view of Isla Verde beach and ocean. The ambiance is very classy. The service was impeccable and no complaints. We ordered 3 small plates and their Robatiyaki (Japanese Skewers). For appetizers, we ordered the house made dumplings which were pork and shrimp. Delicious to the point I wanted to order a second. We also got the Kumo sliders which were wagyu beef. They were good but the beef was way over cooked. We then ordered the King Pegao (salmon tartare over crispy rice). The rice was a bit over cooked as well compared to other crispy rice I have had but the flavor profile was spot on. And lastly, we ordered the Branzino skewer that was flavored and grilled to perfection. The fish and skin melted in your mouth. By far my favorites were the skewer and the dumplings. The mocktails and cocktails were also good!

Pretty scenic rooftop bar. The drinks are pretty good, and reasonably priced. Not much to see at night. Great view at sunset. It seems to be a mix of tourists and locals. Be careful about sitting on the furniture. If it has recently rained, the chairs may feel dry... at least until you sit on them. read more

Place is located in San Juan beach club hotel. Amazing views! This place feel more high end however the prices are reasonable. About $10-$15 a cocktail. They have a bar, lounge and the pool area. The pool is pretty small and is all around 5 feet. You do not need reservations, you can walk in. Since the place is fairly small overall I would suggest making reservations. They have complimentary valet. I would come back here again. read more

Great place with tasty food at the top of a hotel. The ahi tuna appetizer (can't remember the exact name) was amazing and the calamari was tender and tasty. My salad was ok. View was unbeatable! Drink were spot on and happy hour was great. Staff were very friendly. read more

Great view. Ok food. . . This spot is at the top of a hotel and has amazing views of Isle Verde Beach. The happy hour is great and the service was really food. The food was decent but definitely not tapas. We had pretty good pizza, that was fresh made. read more

Had the burger, pork tacos, and wahoo tacos on separate visits. All were very tasty. Get the hot sauce to kick em up a notch. On Thursday you can get a burger and a Medalla for $10....do it. read more

Amazing view! Great atmosphere! The food and staff are awesome. I had the chicken parm it was fantastic! Definitely a place you want to visit when in the area or staying nearby. Do make a reservation for the west side of the restaurant. read more

A spectacular view , wasted by a service say, not bad, but inconsistent... 1.From we arrived, the boy from Valet Parking said brunch starts at 11:00 am, when the FB page says it is 10:30... howsoever service began at 11 . 2. ordered a passion fruit mojito with sparkling wine , without mint... 3. The waffle/mallorca bread with the bacon jam, delicious. The salmon bagel, good but not the best. If you want to enjoy a few drinks and a beautiful view around Isla Verde area, this a good option. read more

I'm biased, as I'm staying at the hotel, so take that into account before reading this review. Also, we just came for drinks, not any of the food. Overall, the allure of this place is the view at night. Not to say it's not great during the day, but from sunset on with the DJ spinning and white couches, you may feel like you're in Miami after a few too many. Come for sunset, take a dip in the rooftop pool, then spend the rest of the time lounging on the couches taking in the Caribbean breezes. We had the Juan Collins, which is delicious if you like lime and cucumber-- refreshing mix to cool you off. We also had a gin and tonic-- nothing to write home about. The portions are good for the price; you pay $9-$12 per cocktail, which is much less than we expected to pay. read more
Nice modern rooftop bar. Everything from the menu to the bowls glow in the dark! Music was very good and diverse. They played latin as well as contemporary English songs. Unfortunately, you can't enjoy the ocean view at night since it's pitch dark but im sure day views are great. Recommended for big groups too! read more

I wish I took more photos of the view this place is amazing. Comfy sofas to ocean gaze or star gaze. Avocado dip was delicious, octopus and pizza we on the average side. Reason for four stars and not three the mixed drinks are a big ball of ice and little drink. Uber will drop you off and pick up just before the hotel! Enjoy read more

5 star for rooftop experience. We went at night, great views. You can see the planes flying into SJU. So the experience is very good. We shared a cheeseburger which was average, some vegetables (carrots) which were very good and mashed potatoes which were good as well. Check out the menu online before you go, make sure there is something you like! I would recommend this read more

We were staying at El San Juan Hotel and found this to be a short walk, so we chose it for dinner since it was advertised as great views, roof top. Unfortunately it was a rainy evening and while the view was great, the rain dampened the experience a bit along with the poor service. Our server never offered another round of drinks and it took a very long time to get our food. I made the mistake of ordering pizza, which I typically would not do at anything other than a pizza place or Italian rest . The pizza lacked flavor and was not much more than freezer quality . My hubby got the burger and I was so jealous. It was amazing! Quite flavorful and a large patty made this by far the best thing chosen by our group. A friend got the wings and he said that they were , just alright. read more

I had the fortune of trying out this amazing bar right on the beachfront after a sweltering day on the beach. I started off with the Playa Colada, which is one of the versions of the pina colada. It was a refreshing drink, albeit on the pricier side. Nice and cold, strong coconut flavor, but could have been a tad sweeter. For the appetizer I had the guacamole dip, which was okay. I think the chips were nice and crisp, and thicker than regular tortilla chips, but the dip lacked flavor. The cocktail shrimp was amazing. The sweet chili sauce worked well. For entree, I had a pulled pork and ham sandwich, with a side of fries. The sandwich bun was covered in powdered sugar, and the ham was slightly sweetened. It was a good mix of sweet and savory, and quite an enjoyable but light meal. The fries were well made. The best part was the view. You could see the beach to the north and east, and then the mountain ranges in the southeast. I wish I could spend more time up there. They had a hot tub as well on the roof. I would definitely come back here when I go back to Puerto Rico. read more
