I was bummed to see my old go-to hibachi place close in this location a month or so ago - but almost immediately, renovations started occurring and a week or 2 ago Kumo opens! Normally I like to wait a bit for a new business to work the kinks out ...but it got the better of me as the new sign in front of the restaurant mentions Ramen, Sushi, & HIBACHI..... so in I went. Inside layout is basically the same - with the addition of a front register & full table service. Server was by immediately to take my drink order & drop off a menu. Decent choices...but my hankerin' was for hibachi tonight - so I ordered Steak & Chicken with accompanying small salad (soup is an option as well). Order came quickly & was pretty darn good! Meats were not overcooked & veggies were crisp and tasty. I can see myself visiting this new restaurant as much as I did the previous one ;) Recommended - stop in!

This is, by far, my favorite sushi spot in Carlisle! There's not many to choose from out here, so this place is legit amazing! The sushi is fresh and delicious! They have other authentic Japanese dishes like Udon, Ramen and Katsu if you don't prefer sushi. So it's great that they have something for everyone. The server are very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is very a cozy and clean. It doesn't get overly crowded, however they are busy. It seems like people tend to do more take out instead of eating in. My husband and I brought our toddler here and he LOVES the avocado and California roll. The chef even cut the rolls particularly small just so that he can eat them in one bite. I love that they did that for us. We highly recommend this place!

Love this place. This is our favorite Japanese restaurant in the Carlisle area. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. Nicely appointed and clean. Our favorite dishes are the steak and chicken hibachi dinner, as well as the Mango Dragon Roll. We also enjoy their gyoza and the pork belly buns. Highly recommend you check them out if you!re I. The food and the staff are always excellent. Kumo is a nice little place and has become our "go to" ramen spot.

Steak and scallops hibachi. Disappointed that it didn't taste like real hibachi. They don't have ginger sauce either

Got there a little after 5pm on a Friday. It was not busy until around 6pm. Our food came out pretty fast. Got chicken ramen and it was bland, hibachi did not taste like real hibachi and they don't have ginger sauce here. My glass of water was also dirty! Will not be returning.

So after all these years I finally came back to Carlisle just so I could have that dish again. The ramen with the savory meat, the crisp veggies, the creamy avocado, and crunchy peanuts make for a perfect bowl of ramen! Plus, their milk teas are also great! The staff here is friendly and the restaurant itself is set up nice! I love Issei Noodle, and I hope I don't have to wait another 8 years to go back!

Total came out to approximately $43 (not including tip). What's hot - Menu. Pretty good. There's something for everyone, possibly even vegans. I'm uncertain whether they have vegetable broth, but they have options that are vegetarian. There's pho, ramen, rice, curry, meats, and tofu. - Quality. Pretty good. The chicken karage was not overly breaded, crispy, had a nice flavor. Lt was not overly salty and served warm. My tofu miso ramen was not overly seasoned, which I appreciate. One of my pet peeves is when noodle soups are too salty, because it detracts from what the natural flavor should be. My miso ramen had a nice seasoning. My husband really enjoyed his red curry. He said it had a slight kick of spiciness with a slight taste of sweetness from the coconut milk. - Portions. Pretty decent size portions to get you full, not stuffed. Good value for money. - Location. Centrally located in downtown around other shops and restaurants. What's not - Service. Among the 4 in our group, 3 of us had something wrong with our orders. My ramen arrived with no tofu. When our friends received their orders, it was completely wrong (I.e., they were given someone else's order). There were also mistakes in the dishes they actually ordered. Given all the errors, everything was delayed and took longer, which was frustrating. - Payment. You're expected to pay your tab before actual service, which includes tips, as well. Hubby and I aren't fans of that, especially given all the mistakes that our group encountered. - Parking. Since it's downtown, it's mostly timed and metered parking in the area. - Time. They close at 8pm. Our group was the last ones in the restaurant, which surprised us. As such, I asked their staff what time they close. When they responded 8pm, I asked them if our group should leave. The staffers told me that my group was ok, which we appreciated. However, we didn't stick around. Just be prepared that this is not a place you can continue to hang out in. Final answer Willing to return, but not a first choice.

Issei Noodle - The restaurant is small with some communal tables. Parking in downtown Carlisle can be challenging. Be sure to check the hours.

Prices were reasonable and they have typical Japanese side…read moredishes like pork buns, takoyaki, tempura, gyoza in addition to ramen and curry rice with katsu. They even have some boba tea options. Not sure I would trust the mango and strawberry mochi ice cream though. I got the spicy tonkatsu ramen combo which comes with a pork bun and Thai iced tea. I was able to get the Thai tea less sweet. Altogether it was $20 which isn't too bad. Thai tea was as you would expect nothing wrong with it. Pork bun was pretty good, nice soft bun with slices of pork with lettuce, cucumber with a sweet sauce. Spicy tonkatsu ramen was alright, above average for York, PA. It came with a closer to hard boiled half egg, one slice of fish cake, some bamboo, a few slices of chashu that was marinated but a little overcooked, and pink ginger.. Why they would put pink ginger in ramen is beyond me but it was not a good choice. Flavor of broth was good and spicy level is more of a mild. They do have a devil ramen which is much spicier. Ambience was cool, they have a mist machine with purple lights in the middle and a Naruto figure near the door. They also have a small tv playing Naruto episodes non-stop. Service was good too. Servers checked on my at appropriate times. One of the bathrooms was out of service when I came, hopefully they will fix that soon. Overall, worth a visit to get your Ramen fix in York.

After driving around the block 2 times I went into the address to inquire where it was. Surprise it was where they said, but not even a sign on the door. There were 2 employees sitting at a table and an elderly man at the kitchen area. I asked why there's no sign and was told they have been requesting one for a couple weeks. Ok I pay for our food, take it home, and when we started eating the sushi we were both disappointed. It taste like it was made the day before we ordered it, rolled so tight it was actually chewy, wasabi and ginger were very bland. Next up was the poke bowls. About 1/2 of the bowl was more chewy rice and the entire bowl was very dry. We have been very satisfied and even bought gift cards from them over the past couple years, but after yesterday's experience,, lesson learned. We won't be returning.
