Rice tasted good for nigiri, hand rolls, and sushi rolls. Sashimi (red snapper, escolar, octopus,…read moresurf clam) tasted okay and had some bounciness. The unagi was heated and placed on a shiso leaf (strangely flavorless here). Nigiri (smelt roe = salty, mackerel) tasted fine. The decently hot miso soup had silken tofu and wakame. Takoyaki was hot and had a crispy outer shell, though almost too much eel sauce. The garlic shrimp butter tasted like regular stir fry shrimp and was almost overcooked. I didn't taste much butter or garlic even though I could see it. The baked mussel was hot and covered in mayo-cheese sauce but didn't taste like much of either. The spicy tuna roll tasted okay though it looked unnaturally red. The crawfish handroll was packed with not too dry crawfish. I liked how the rest of the filling wasn't too much because some places add too much rice, cucumber, and sauces. The fried oyster roll had crab mix, avocado, and dry fried oyster tempura. It would have tasted better if the seafood was edible. The spider roll was a little better as the fried soft shell crab was softer, but it didn't taste like anything either. I was surprised the raw food tasted better than the fried and saucy items at this buffet. The green tea and cookies and cream ice cream scoops were soft. The bowl tipped over when I was spooning some. The restaurant seems clean, but the restrooms smell.

This was my first time trying Shogun. Honestly, the food isn't too bad, but for the price, I think…read moreyou can definitely get better options when at Vintage Park. They give you onion soup to start, not bad. I got the Eel Bento Box for lunch, and it's a good amount of food to get you full. I didn't like the rice though. We got a couple rolls and they were all decent. Based off my standards, I wouldn't go back. Subpar. We went during lunch. Service was very slow because there was only one server running the floor, but he was nice and I could tell he tried to tend to us as much as possible.

I expected all Shoguns to be similar, so I was surprised that the service here was so shit. I had to wait over 20 minutes for the waiter to come back to my table. Had to alert the busser to ask for the waiter to take my order. I ordered the bento, and my dad ordered chicken teppanyaki. Usually comes with vegetables, but his food had no vegetables. And then, when my bento came out, the rice was hard, the salmon was barely seasoned, and was very small. No ginger or wasabi for my sushi, so I waited another 10 minutes to catch the waiter's eye to ask for it. Most mediocre experience I've ever had with shogun. Will not be coming back to this location.

Incident 1 (Recent): We ordered edamame and asked for them to be boiled extra soft. They served them with the sauce completely burnt and charred. The waitress offered to remake them, but when she returned, she admitted the owner told her to just wash the burnt edamame with hot water and add a little sauce. We were so grossed out we tried to leave. We offered to pay for our untouched sodas, but they dishonestly charged us the full edamame price anyway. Incident 2 (Past): This isn't their first time reusing food. A while back, they gave us regular edamame instead of spicy on a to-go order. They told us to bring the food back the next day to fix it and verify we didn't eat the edemames. When we returned, they took our 25-hour-old edamame and re-cooked it. I had to argue for a fresh batch. When they finally remade it, the owner was angry and shorted our portion. Washing burnt food and reusing day-old returns is a massive health hazard. I will be filing a complaint with the Harris County. Save your money and your health--go somewhere else.
