I will never go back to this place. Place inside is outdated. Customer service was terrible. Food was also terrible.

Best place for sushi in the valley hands down! I also really like that you can order to go and just conveniently stop in to pick it up.

2.5 stars. Service was very good. Food not so good. We did enjoy our soft shell crab and gyoza appetizer, as well as the complimentary miso soup. It's great that Kumori has options for specialty rolls, but it was overwhelming with options. I cant remember what rolls we got, but the one I liked was a fried roll that had squid in it. The other specialty roll my fiancé picked just looked like a Cali roll with a mountain of crunchy tempura on top of it. All the rolls were similar in description with different names. I would probably blame the sushi chef for presentation of the sushi that they plated. The worst part of our meal was the sashimi. The cuts of the fish and quality was TERRIBLE. It was on top of a bed os spiraled cucumber instead of ice or just on an empty plate. The salmon had bones in it bad tasted like grocery market quality salmon, that isn't sushi grade. The white fish was DRY, and the yellow tail was the same.... The portion was generous for the price, but I guess you get what you pay for. I didn't even finish it, and I always eat all the sashimi. Another odd thing was, their wines were by the bottle? Weird to me.... They had such a collection of wines but only by the bottle unless you get their house wine. Food was great, no problem there, but our waiter did not have any social skills, lol. From banging beverages on the table to his throwing of plates in the bus tub loudly to his indifference to us and no friendly tone at all. Where to begin... McAllen almost has a great sushi spot... I love sushi and as such I expect a lot from Sushi houses I patron. I ordered Miso soup, Maguro Nigiri and vegetable fried rice. Cons: the sushi rice was not cooked all the way... it needs more time and a longer time in vinegar (major "no-no"... don't cut corners and use your sushi rice for your fried rice... fried rice should begin with steamed rice which is usually a longer grain rice and not as sticky... just barely sticky), the Maguro Nigiri (tuna)... a tad thin, horribly cut and was at room temperature (should have been cooler... smells of a second rate sushi chef). The miso soup had a great flavor... I would ensure your servings had at least one piece of tofu as mine did not. The fried rice, as mentioned above, was sushi rice... one bite was all I could do. Lastly, it is traditional for sushi houses to have lemon to add to water as this is done to clense the pallet before switching to another dish... no lemons (a lime is not a lemon). Lastly, Please have your employees cover up their hickies... tacky. Pros: Great ambiance, the layout and feel of the place was excellent. Friendly service with a smile... nice! The quality of the tuna used is good, with the right cut technique and temperature it could be great. A few minor adjustments and people would line up to get a seat... you're almost there. Just me: Was that the manager sitting over in the corner working on his laptop the whole time? Get out there and say hello to your patrons and do that work out of your customer's sight. Just a tad crowded, but overall great experience. Fast, friendly service, excellent sushi, nicer ambiance than you'll find in other places in the RGV. Lunch was great. Yaki soba chicken Picasso roll, philidelpha roll, and crunch roll were all great. We had an excellent waitress that really knew how to do her job. She was Polite, helpful and always making sure if their was anything we needed. read more

I was here visiting for work. I love sushi and get it in every city I go to. The seaweed salad was OK, and the Golden dragon roll was OK as well. But DO NOT get the spider roll. If there was ever a fast food restaurant for sushi that would be the quality of their spider roll. It had no flavor and looked over fried. read more

Horrible experience. Ordered $30 worth of food, and proceeded to wait AN HOUR (arrived at 3:35pm). We decided to get out and ask what was going on at 4:30. We waited 10 more minutes, and got our food. Halfway home, we checked and our order was messed up (we also had not received the condiments we specifically asked for, neither forks or napkins). To top it off, the bag was broken a d dripping soy sauce all over our clothes. We returned and asked for the manager, who wasn't there, so we talked to the assistant manager. Told her we WAITED AN HOUR, and that our order was wrong. She only offered to replace the roll that was messed up. Nothing more. After waiting so long for something that should have taken 10 minutes, we were upset. We did curbside to not get out and open ourselves up for more COVID exposure, and we had to wait inside the restaurant for around 20 minutes. We didn't want to make anyone's day harder, but we're really upset. Never gonna return read more

So just a couple days ago my boyfriend and I had take out food from Kumori (in Palms Crossing McAllen) and when I took the first bite I felt something crunchy, almost like glass so I quickly spit it out and sure enough I saw multiple pieces of porcelain glass. It was inside the rice. I threw the plate away and shortly after I started experiencing throat pain but it was thanksgiving time and I tried not to pay too much attention to it but day by day I started feeling it hurt more so I am now at the hospital. After getting a cat scan done, doctors find there is a piece of glass lodged inside my throat. Doctors are going to transfer me to another medical center to do removal procedures. We are extremely disappointed in Kumori. This has always been a favorite place we get our sushi from but after this experience we are never going back. A porcelain plate must've broke and somehow pieces went inside my food and now I'm suffering from their unsafe practices. read more

The inside of this restaurant has a very pungent smell. On both occassions that I've been here it took over 15 minutes for a waiter to take my order and the inside was very stuffy/warm. Many superior options in the area. Will not be going back. read more

I came here from out of town with friends. The waiter made great recommendations based on what we told him we liked. He even brought me a sample of a drink I wasn't sure about! Horrible service. I was there with a friend on 5/19/13 and I must say I had the most uncomfortable experience. The waiter forgot to enter my friend's order of edamame and a roll she had ordered. I received my food but the roll had no taste. My friend asked the waiter about her order and he just snapped and told her it wasn't his fault that they didn't make her food, and he blamed the chefs, so rude. He came back and told her again that it wasn't his fault, and that the chefs were working on her order. When she received her roll (50 minutes later) it fell apart as she was trying to eat it. He brought her the edamame when we were about to leave, since he didn't bring them as an appetizer we thought he had cancelled the order, but no, again he blamed the people in the kitchen, how irresponsible. I used to like this place, I have no idea what happened to Kumori, but the management should pay close attention to what's going on in the restaurant and make some changes if not the restaurant will fall apart. I am never going back to that location. read more
