I tried ordering online on their website but arrived to find out my order was not received (partly why only 5 stars the other part is because I got take out so prefer to save 5 stars for the full dining experience if earned ) the food was so delicious it was eaten before I could take pics. The selection included: Spicy crispy chicken (very spicy if you enjoy dried red chilis, recommended by the staff), shrimp w/broccoli, egg drop soup (the usual, nothing exceptional) and sausage fried rice made with Chinese sausage, if you've never had it try it!! I did take some pics of the decor since it was quite beautiful and added to the dining area. It's been quite awhile since we've dined here. We came in not expecting to see the updated interior and learned that the business is under new management. I always preferred this spot for soup dumplings. And that's what we had today. Both my husband and I each ordered the Xiao Long Bao (8pc) along with a side of Bok Choy with Garlic. Gotta get in our greens! (I really wanted the Spinach with garlic but was told they sold out yesterday.) Everything was delicious. We even ordered one more Xiao Long Bao! What I really liked about the dumplings was that the exterior did not break when grabbed with chopsticks. Pliable. Soup stayed in the dumpling until I pierced it. (At Joyee, many times dumplings stick to the paper and rips. Soup spills out. The dough can be a little chewy.) We also had tea with our meal. My husband with the Taro Milk Tea with Boba and me with the Tropica Fruit Tea. My tea was quite refreshing. I forget everything that's in it but there's jasmine tea with a mix of fruit tea, a mint leaf, and pieces of fruit - strawberry, blueberry, pineapple. My husband enjoyed his drink too. Boba was nice and chewy. Dumplings were being made as we were leaving. Who doesn't love freshly made dumplings?! Almost forgot to mention that the service was great. YUM!! So glad I gave this Chinese spot a try!! I admit I was hesitant in the beginning since San Diego usually doesn't have good Asian food but this place definitely was spectacular! This restaurant is quite small and is located at the end of a plaza so it can be easily missed. Parking was ok but can be difficult especially on the weekends since it's located inside a busy plaza. They're open daily 11am-9pm Inside was small with not too much seating. The furniture was a bit worn and not too clean. There were bits of food on each table but it could be I went when they first opened. I felt so bad for the girl that worked there because she had to take and bring out orders, clean, and in charge of cashier. Service was pretty good since there wasn't anyone there except my party. However, wait time was an issue - 20+ min for 3 issues. I can't imagine how long parties have to wait when it's busy. Ordering was easy! Once I was seated, I was given a sheet of paper to select the items I wanted! However, I noticed they were out of a lot of items and they just opened when I arrived! The Pork Xiao Long Bao ($10.95) came with 8 pieces. Each piece was pretty big and stuffed with plenty of pork! The pork was not too fatty and the soup inside was so flavorful. It tasted so fresh and delicious so this was definitely a must get! 10/10 Chicken Chow Mein ($13.95) was decent! The portion was huge and came in with plenty of ingredients! The noodles were so soft and fresh! However, it was lacking flavor and tasted quite bland. It didn't have that "pan fried" taste - in Chinese: "wok hay" so this was 7/10 Beef Noodle Soup ($12.99) was amazing! The broth was packed with flavor and so rich! The beef was so tender and not too fatty! The noodles were so fresh and soft! The veggies were fresh and had a good variety of green onions, cilantro, and broccoli! I've been going to this place for many years and there has been changes in ownership every couple of years. I came here today and was told there's been another change most recently 2 months ago. This by far his has been the most pleasant visit. The food was fresh and the dumpling wrapper was thin. The soup dumplings were filled with soup and the pot stickers were pan fried to perfection. Server came by once as we are finishing to refill water. The change in ownership has really hurt this place. The +1 star was for the fantastic taste of the beef noodle soup. We had the pan fried pork buns - quite yummy but I was getting full at this point! Saving the best for last was the pork Xiao long bao, the star of the meal - large and juicy. I came in with family for my birthday lunch yesterday and recieved some of the best service I have ever had. They were very happy to help explain the drinks on the menus, and even brought my daughter her own kids plate and chopsticks to use. We stopped in for dinner. Our first impression was not great. There was only one other party in the restaurant waiting for a to go order. There was a sign at the front counter saying cash or Venmo only. (When asked they claimed their credit card connection was down, but we had noticed several other previous reviews saying cash only). Several of the tables had not been bused. A murky fish tank was near the entrance. Overall, a bland basic ambiance and not very spic and span. Since there were many good reviews on Yelp about the food and the fresh house made noodles, we decided to stay, if we could get a cold beer with our meal. We did and we were very glad to have stayed. The menu is a sheet of paper with pencil to mark what you want to order. Make sure to look for the Chef's Specials on a white board hanging on a wall listing five or six more entrees and appetizers. Once seated we were able to see them making fresh dumplings. We then noticed the excellent Motown background music. We were promptly served Ice Water and our cold beers. We decided on Crab and Pork Dumplings along with some Dan Dan Noodles. Our order was quickly prepared; it came steaming hot and it was just delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection. The Dan Dan Noodles was plenty for my wife and I to share. The house hot sauce on the table went perfect with the Dumplings. While we were there, there was a steady stream of people coming in to pick up to go orders. Also, four other parties came to dine in. We also tried their Singapore noodle, which was very good too. Finally, we had the bok choy soup with tofu and wonton on the side. It was flavorful; not salty at all.
