I stopped by here twice while visiting gainsville for their bubble tea and slush. The place is decorated like a modern tea house. The music is upbeat and they have plenty of tables and chairs for college students to hang and enjoy their drinks and food. I didn't get a chance to try the meals here but from the look of it, everything looks delicious. My favorite drinks are the mungbean with boba and taro milk tea slush with jelly. The taste isn't too powdery or sweet, just enough flavors. I downloaded their mobile app for received a four dollars off coupon for the next purchase and came back for my 2nd drink, which was nice. Kung Fu Tea is my go-to bubble tea place in Gainesville. I always get Taro Milk Green Tea (it's light with just the right amount of sweetness) with boba but I've recently been in to the Coconut Milk Tea (it really tastes like coconut, but it's not overpowering) with boba. The regular ice amount they put in the drinks is too much for me, and I typically ask for less ice. I really enjoy their teas because they're not too sweet and do not taste chalky from the powder. They underwent renovations over the summer/fall and now have a food menu. I've tried their Ninja Chicken Nuggets combo and it's a great deal for the price. The combo comes with seaweed salad, broccoli, and your choice of white rice, fries, or miso soup. I upgraded my side to curry rice and added the optional milk tea. The chicken was seasoned well and was placed on top of another salad, the curry rice tasted great and reminded me of Japanese curry, and I surprisingly like the milk tea (I was afraid it would be too bland). The portion was big enough for me to split into two meals. The staff is very nice and polite. Once, my cup cracked and spilled all over the sidewalk and they were happy to replace my drink. Keep in mind that, service can be slow sometimes and the wait for your drink is longer than you expected, and the wait for food is even longer. On the other side of the place, two female patrons laugh and exchange glances at a cell pbone, while sipoing their tea through a straw. The cashier was happy to explain the different teas, and which kind of flavor I would like. The mango green tea with mango pieces was worth it! A deep flavor of green tea with the ot too sweet, fruity tasteof mango meshed well! The ninja chicken was a nice choice for a snack. I came here when they reopened after a hefty renovation. They now serve food in addition to teas. I ordered a squid combo and a honey green milk tea with pudding. The tea came out quickly, and it was delicious. The food was a whole other story. I ordered the squid combo, but when I looked at my receipt it said beef. When I looked at their menu board again I realized that the squid and beef combo were both listed as B6. I told an employee and they seemed confused. I told them that I wanted squid, not beef. I then showed them the menu and the error. They seemed to understand. Then I waited 25 minutes for my food. When I got it, it was beef. After showing this to the same employee, they were very confused. I had to explain again what I wanted and the menu error. After a lot of back and forth, they told me to wait a little longer and that the kitchen would fix it. After a while the employee came out and gave me my correct order. They were very apologetic. I think there was just a language barrier, but it was really annoying having to ask employees 3 times to correct your order. And when it came down to the food, it honestly wasn't that good. This is probably now my favorite go-to ramen place for a decent price and food. They are most well-known for their boba teas and also gained some attention for their crispy chicken and meals offered, but they have recently added ramen to their menu and it is good! My favorite ramens so far have been the spicy tonkotsu ramen and the spicy curry ramen. There is a lot of good flavor in both and the noodles absorb the broth well. I have also noticed they have the black garlic ramen so I am hoping to try those soon too! They serve your food quickly and have good service so I give it 5/5 for the good boba, pricing for ramen, and consistency in the ramen being good every time we've visited. Great ramen and killer rangoons! I love popping in when I'm looking for yummy ramen that fills me up and leaves me satisfied!

In the past couple months KFT has really improved in the taste of their beverages as well as customer service. They now offer various games and the atmosphere is a lot warmer and more inviting. Kung Fu Tea reminds me of the boba stores back in Taiwan, where boba teas originated. The drinks are not overly sweet and taste more like tea. In comparison, I feel as if Lollicup's drinks are very Americanized and artificial. The boba at KFT is also consistently soft and chewy; they're definitely some of the best boba in Florida. At times the servers can be a bit hard to understand since english for many of them is not their first language, but they are really nice and quick to accommodate your needs. My favorite drink here, so far, is the Taro Green Milk Tea. I highly recommend anyone to try the green milk teas rather than just getting black milk tea all the time; it is a very different and delicious experience. The Oolong milk tea base is also a good option. Oolong is a weaker tasting tea and so your drink will not be as powerful than if you were to select some of the other milk tea bases. The iced signature coffee is another favorite of mine when I'm expecting a long night of studying. I wouldn't say it's a stand out in flavor but it's very strong and does its job. The pudding here is also very yummy for when I get a little bit tired from eating boba. KFT is considered more of a "study place" whereas Lollicup is a "hangout place". While this is fairly accurate, it is very difficult to study at KFT especially due to their increasing popularity. First off, it's difficult to obtain a table at certain times of the day; the store is small and there are only about 5 or 6 tables. Secondly, KFT is usually swarmed with students in the evening since a lot of social clubs come here to hang out. I've tried to study here a few times, but have been very distracted all of those times. Otherwise, KFT is my favorite place to come to in Gainesville. It's quickly overcoming some of my favorite boba drink places in the world. While, KFT is still fairly new and has some kinks to work out, it's a definite "need to try" in this town. read more

Even walking into the shops, I'm hit with the amazing scent of black tea. The chain is from Flushing, a place that has brought my life so much comfort during uncomfortable times. When their first Flushing shop opened on Main Street, we gathered in droves for their Wow Milk. That was at least six years ago, so I did not expect to find a Kung Fu shop in my hometown of Gainesville, Florida. All of their teas are natural tea, served with a true tea base of Oolong, Black Tea, or Jasmine Green Tea. Unless you order a fruit smoothie or Milk Strike drink, you will receive the best quality, strongest tasting teas that you will find anywhere in the world. I've never had a bad drink at Kung Fu, even when trying some of the stranger concoctions (like the Honey Tomato Twister). My main obsession that never fades is their Kung Fu Milk tea; a bergamot infused strong Earl Gray cream tea, requested with less sweetness, with honey coated tapioca pearls cooked to perfection in the bottom. Seriously, I could drink it every day. It is bewitching. I've been to Taiwan (home of bubble tea). Had bubble tea in NYC, Flushing, Japan, South Korea, California, Canada, Atlanta, and everywhere in between. Kung Fu remains my favorite of all the teas that I have had. Just sayin.' Ummm. And not totally in love with it, I did enjoy their Taro Slush Boba with those honey soaked tapioca balls. The boba balls could have been a little more squishier for me, but it was fine. This place over charges customers compared to their advertised prices, which is against to State of Florida codes and is considered a misdemeanor. 1. Their onscreen menu is more expensive than their paper menu. 2. You actually get charged 15 cents more regardless of your drink. Thank goodness I kept all my receipts. I won't be filing in small claims court even though I bought so many drinks from here, but I will dispute the charges on my credit cards. And yes, I already alerted the workers and they had no idea. I asked to speak with a manager (none present); I asked for the owner contact information and wasn't given it. My friend called the Tampa location as the same owner is listed for Gainesville. He asked for menu prices and the counter price and they were different than Gainesville. Different meaning cheaper. Kung Fu which is a chain of milk tea/boba tea vendors just opened up a shop in Gainesville. It's not that big but has ample space for patrons to drink their tea in the shop. I do not think they'll have outdoor seating because their small spot near Crisper's doesn't really have any outside patio space, which would have been kinda nice. The interior is expectedly new, clean, and nice but furnished in a bit of a generic manner: some Asian touches but I believe there was a large poster/print of either NYC or Paris on one wall, which seemed a touch strange. The staff are prompt and friendly. When I was there, all of the other patrons were Asian kids--all. Which is a great sign, I feel. They have a good selection of different teas and combinations--see their menu on their website for details on that--and a few Asian baked goods from some bakery in Tampa. I had a lemon green tea and a piece of the sponge cake. The baked goods are pre-packed and I don't know how fast the turn over is on them, but my cake was good enough, certainly not stale. I'm always a touch leery of such things because if they come from elsewhere, especially out of town, you have to have high volume sales to have rapid replenishment of those sweets. I'm glad Kung Fu is offering something to eat alongside the tea, though. Overall, it's well-done. I like the atmosphere of Lollicup a bit better and love that Lollicup also sells loose-leaf tea to take home and more variety of desserts. But I'll visit Kung Fu again, I'm sure, and am glad they have come to Gainesville. read more

Wife and I just moved to Gainesville from NYC. We've always liked Kung Fu Tea and there are many locations in NY as well as Texas where we grew up. So with that said, this isn't our first rodeo. This location has the worst customer service I've ever seen of any establishment. We got there an hour before closing and some workers were mopping the floor. No greeting, so we asked if it was ok to walk, but still no confirmation if we could walk across the wet floor to get to the counter to order. Then when the wife ordered her usual drink with less sugar, was told they couldn't customize the sugar, which has never happened before at any other KFT with this specific drink, but fine. She decided not to get it since she didn't like it without the sugar customization in the past. Not asking for an apology, but damn no need for an attitude behind the counter. Honestly, it's sad to see this in Gainesville. Even customer service in all of NYC has never been this bad. There are other boba places here for us, bye! read more

Due to limited tea shops in the area, KFT is a very popular study or hang out location for students. However, I have not discovered the hype for this tea shop; the drinks are mediocre, and their food is overpriced. As a chain, they offer all of KFT's standard drinks, but they are not very impressive. In my opinion, the boba is sweet, but too soft. On the bright side, they are extremely quick at taking orders and mixing drinks. After their renovations, they started offering food items, as well as a new interior. However, their food is rather pricey for the portion sizes, and are not the healthiest options. The interior didn't change too much, but there are still tables for students to study. Just a warning, they do ask people to leave if they haven't made a purchase. The ramen here makes me want to drive 10 hours from NC...I mean, that'd be excessive, but you'd better believe me when I say I'd stop on my way to Tampa to eat here again. The pork ramen rocked my world. I ended my meal fat and happy, sipping on boba tea. I don't know what my hang up with having the adhered top to my boba tea is, but IMO, if your boba doesn't have that kind of lid, did you even have legit boba? (you didn't... just saying.) This means a variety of things, stronger competition creates variety and change for both franchises and I highly support that. KFT has very nice decor and sports similar themes to that of lollicup in that it is a modernistic type boba location catering towards students. It has free wifi, and much if not all of its staff are foreign exchange students. If you speak mandarin there's a high chance someone at this establishment will be able to communicate with you. The prices are cheaper, the drinks are slightly different and they do offer their own twist with differing combinations. The only reason why KFT doesn't have 5 stars is because it doesn't offer anything new nor does it stand out as a boba place. It offers decent service and they hold many events for UF students and faculty but it hasn't amazed me with anything in particular. They don't offer any of the crazy and wild dessert items their competitor has nor do they really have many board games. I am in LOVE/ADDICTED TO the white gourd (aka wintermelon) iced tea!! It's so good & refreshing. I am not a fan of the tapioca pearls/boba here, as I prefer Lollicup's boba texture (KFT's is much squishier) but I do like their nata jelly topping. The atmosphere is much more relaxed and mature than Lollicup's, and usually the tables are filled with students studying. They do also have games and 2 sofas but for the most part, it's more of a coffeehouse vibe rather than Lollicup's fun & games vibe (I mention Lollicup so much bc it's only a block away and very similar in offerings). THE WOW MILK DRINKS ARE DISGUSTING THOUGH I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM. I can only recommend the classics. read more
