Tried out this place today while out running errands. Sadly they had experienced a power failure a little while before I went in but they were making drinks no problem. They did have a soup vending machine but it was sadly out of order. I'll have to go back. I tried the oolong tea. It was really good. The tapioca was a little more sweet than what I like but not bad. My daughter had a medium green tea and drank most of it. You know if kids like it it is good. I saw a few drinks I want to go back and try. Also glad to see they have lactose free offerings. Another bubble tea place - I'd usually get a milk tea but wasn't feeling it after a large meal so I got a passion fruit slush instead. I liked that they have two different sizes of cups so you can get a medium instead of a large. The passion fruit flavor was good. There is plenty of interior seating and a couch area and the service is quick. I wish they had a better system of announcing the numbers so that you can hear them better. Totally addicted! I actually have major cravings for kung fu's green milk tea. In my opinion, they have the best milk tea in town. I don't know what is about it that just wants more of it! Maybe it's the way they make it by using some crazy paint shaker looking devices to mix the drinks. Lol. Like other Chinatown locations, mostly cash only. I say mostly because they do take credit card with a 10$ minimum purchase or they charge you 40 cents or something for anything less than the minimum purchase. The employees at this Kung Fu Tea are by far the rudest employees I've encountered at a tapioca place in Chinatown. The tapioca itself is great. The drinks are made well, but I stopped going here because of their customer service. I went again after a long time, and I remembered why I stopped going. I've been to countless Kung Fu Tea locations, but despite the average/mediocre quality of this location, I keep coming back. This KFT location in particular is in the middle of the "heart of Bellaire Chinatown" known as Dun Huang Plaza. This plaza is by far the most crowded and ever evolving part of Bellaire. Yet despite all the different milk tea options to choose from, I tend to gravitate towards KFT. Their milk teas and boba are consistent as far as quality, which is what really gives this place their 3 stars. But what keeps this place from 5 stars is this locations cleanliness and customer service. I understand that this location gets super crowded on weekends, but they should still attempt to clean off tables, empty the trash, restock straws/napkins, etc, yet none of this happens. And as others have mentioned, there are a handful of workers that tend to be a little rude or have an attitude. This place also has a STRICT $10 minimum charge if you want to use credit cards. Which is a pain cause 2 drinks normally comes out to like $9 something, just short of the minimum. Yet with all the negatives, I keep coming back. I normally rotate between ordering their Kung Fu milk tea with tapioca and oreos (YES the oreos make a big difference), Oolong green milk tea with tapioca, winter melon milk tea with tapioca, or their passion fruit green tea with rainbow jelly. But other than those drinks, I'd recommend going elsewhere. read more

Out of all the places I've gotten bubble tea from in Houston, this place is the best. I tend to always get the black milk tea (original flavor) whenever I go to a new bubble tea place to test if its good or not. Usually if they can't get the basic drink down then it's not good. Kung Fu Tea did not disappoint. I also got the red wow milk tea and that was good as well. It had crushed red beans and was not too sweet. You can also customize the level of sweetness to your liking. The reason why I say this place beats out the other tea places is because it tastes the most authentic to me. It reminds me a lot of the bubble tea I drank in Asia and I'm happy that they don't use powder here either (that's probably why it's a little more expensive). Of course this is my own preference but I think not using powder goes a long way. There's not much to say about the interior other than the fact that it is squeaky clean (but then of course it is relatively new). There is also a lot of seating available and it seems to be a great place to study or hang out with friends. One last thing that I want to mention is that the bubble tea here is a little more expensive in comparison to other places. I paid $5.14 (with tax) for a large sized bubble tea. Final Verdict: Yes I would come here again (but probably not often because they are a little more expensive). read more

My friends introduced me to this place and I gave it a try. I was amazed when I received my drink! My first thought about this place was "it was hidden." The sign is all black with a small font. It does look nice when you first walk in. The furnishing and menu is accomodating. It seems like a great place to lounge and hangout. I have never seen their shaker til yesterday. It's so cool; almost like a paint bucket shaker, but for the size of your drinks! For sure your drinks are done right and not just hand shakened. Just to be clear its "well-shakened" lol I ordered the Golden Oolong milk tea and man, it tasted a lot better than the local boba drinkeries. You can adjust the sugar, milk, sweetener, and other additives. This way you can drink your drink the way you like it. Some people like it creamy, some like it more sweeter, it's really all up to you. Tell them how you like your drink to be made and it will be served. I would say the drinks are a bit pricey though. $5 a drink. A regular average drink goes for about $3. They have a special going on until 08/08/2014. Solid, definitley one of my favorite places to go for bubble tea desserts. Clean and open layout that had a lot of good vibes coming from it. Maybe it had a little to do with the lighting? This place is packed! What a long line! I am told that its worth the wait. Definitely trendy and hip spot. The menu is hanging on the wall. They have cold and hot drinks. Too much of a long line didn't want to ask a million questions and hold up the line. So I order the classic milk tea with bubbles. Can't go wrong with that right? Their milk tea is a little different than what I've tried at other places. They machine shake their drinks to make them frothy I'm guessing. For me the milk tea is too sweet, too creamy, and frothy. The sweetness drowns the tea and I barely taste tea. The bubbles are extra chewy and softer than other places. Kung Fu used to be my favorite, but with so many other better boba places around, I will not be visiting again. I had two full stamp cards and they didn't honor them. They should have at least let customers use them if they had them. They said they were implementing a new point system months ago and i saw nothing today. Customer service is RUDE. Their workers have no sense of urgency and had snotty attitudes. Check your employees. That alone is killing your business. Restrooms are DIRTY. Makes you wonder how clean the back of the house is. I love Houston so much. Not only are there boba shops, shaved ice, and dim sum places everywhere the boba shops also have lactose-free milk. I love being able to have boba without keeling over in pain all the time. PLUS... Kung Fu shakes/makes their tea to order! I will never be satisfied with pre-made milk tea anymore. Kungfu Tea was having a buy two get one free promotion when you order through their app. Well, when I tried to order through the app it didn't deduct the price of my third drink from my cart. I called in to ask and the employee informed me that it will deduct at checkout. So I when ahead my placed my order, it charged me for all three drinks! I went into the store to see if they can reimburse for the third drink and the guy told me I had to activate the reward that was sent to my email before it will appear on my app. WHILE WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T YOU SAY THAT BEFORE I MADE THE PURCHASE?! I really like the atmosphere of Kung Fu Tea. It seems like a nice place to just hang out or study. The tapioca was soft and chewy, just the way I like it. It was even soaked in honey or something to make it sweet. Apparently it's really sweet to most people but I liked it. The Kung Fu Bubble Milk Tea was different from other places, partly because of the honey-soaked tapioca, but the actual tea was also different. It seemed like it had more tea in it than other places, which was interesting. It wasn't bad, just something different. I felt like there was a lot of ice though, so maybe ask for no ice.. And there's not that big of a difference in price between the medium and large so you should order the large, unless you're trying something new and don't know if you'll like it. There's really only so much you can do with bubble tea to make it taste good. You have the tea itself, and then you have the bubbles. I got the green tea milk tea and upon first sip I was slightly overwhelmed with a blast of "herbalness". Imagine drinking liquified tiger balm, or that green liquid your parents put on you whenever you were sick. Imagine tasting that, but highly concentrated into your tea for about a second. That's as best as I can describe the tea itself. Now, afterwards it wasn't so bad, as that taste drifts off.. perhaps I should've stirred it more? Not sure. Tapioca pearls had an alright texture I guess. A bit too soft. DEFINITELY way too sweet though. That bubble syrup is killing the taste of the pearls itself as it makes the entire drink way too sweet for its own good. Pricing at around 4.50 isn't so bad. Ice content was very nice, as they only put in just enough to keep my drink cold. Props on that. Overall though, still a rather average place. There's nothing really special hooking me to frequently come back, but hey, to each his own. 7/10, would come again every now and then. So don't order chai tea unless you wanna pay extra for a regular milk tea with extra water... Also, I was not too impressed with their oreo milk tea either.
