I was excited for their opening in Riverside. (The last time I had the chance to get Kung fu tea was in the NYC location! Glad to see they are expanding to the other coast.) I got the Kung fu honey tea and I liked the control of the sweetness - not way overdone like some other places I've been to before. And I felt like the actual taste of the tea leaves were brought out nicely. The place was packed when I got there so there was a bit of a wait, but that's understandable. It was over 100° today so my drink really hit the spot! The only other comment I have is that the current address on yelp/IG takes you the wrong way (It might just be a glitch with navigation apps? I'm not really sure). I was coming from Central Ave passing by Riverside Plaza to my right, and on the final turn/step in Google/Apple Maps, it says to turn right but it's actually on the left so keep your eye out for that. read more

Got to visit Kung Fu Tea on their soft opening! The owners told us that they were still teaching their employees and was trying to figure out their system. They were pretty busy when we got there, but their customer service was still on point and their drinks were delicious. The drinks we ordered were Caribbean breeze and Kung Fu Tea Milk Tea! We were in the neighborhood so decided to check this place out. Ordered a honey milk tea and a winter melon milk topper tea. Then we saw the crack pie so how could we pass that up! The service was a bit unorganized and slow, but polite and apologized for the wait. Not sure if they're new but it seemed that way. After that was not expecting much but I have to say the drinks were the bomb. Very well done. And the crack pie - well when you name something after a Momofuko's Christina Tosi creation you better make it good. It was good but sorry, not the OG. Check this place out. Reviews for this place are pretty good. Always on the hunt for a good boba place so we decided to give this one a try. You order from outside with plexiglass separating the inside from outside which is good. Everyone is masked. The outdoor space is nice though small since on a major street. Few people waiting around for drinks when we got there. Ordered tea and Crack pies and it took about 20-25 minutes which seemed pretty long for a boba place. And there were 4 people working inside the place. Crack pies are really good and definitely worth trying! They have other deserts as well but didn't try them. The honey tea was really good, not too sweet. There drink didn't have too much idea. The boba was perfectly chewy. Even though the wait was long this time. Their drinks are good and worth trying but you may wait so expect that when ordering. You can also order ahead of time which maybe I should have done but wanted to check out the place. The store itself is very new and clean. The building looked like it was built fairly recently. It was kind of weird because the other building next to it were empty, so I almost thought I went to the wrong place. The boba itself is pretty standard (hence the 3 stars, I'd actually give it a 3.5 because helpful/friendly staff!) I got the seasonal Mango slush with the milk cap LESS sugar and my significant other got the Taro milk tea with boba LESS sugar. What caught me off guard was that even though we both asked for less sugar we both thought it was still pretty sweet. My mango slush could have definitely been fine without the added syrup and tasted great with just the fresh mango and puree. However, I understand that some people are sweet-tooths (teeth?), so I totally get it. Just personally I could have had it less sweet. My S/O added that his boba was also extremely sweet. Waited for around 10 minutes outside and kept coming in to see if my drink was ready, and was told by the workers that a drink that looked very similar to milk tea was "Thai tea". I noticed that it wasn't the distinct orange color that the Thai tea was the last time me & my friend ordered them from Kung Fu Tea but they kept telling me it was "Thai tea". TLDR: Waited 30 minutes for drink. Drink okay. I was in the area and was craving a tea/boba drink. I found this place nearby and had never been so I wanted to check it out. Wooooow. I'm not sure if Thursday evenings are a peak time but I waited 30 minutes for my order (what felt like an eternity for a simple drink). I counted about 30 people who were waiting for their order. This place is not efficient at all. When I approached the window to ask about my drink bc they had called a number ahead of me, I saw at least 10 prepared drinks waiting on the counter but no employees were calling out people's orders to pick up. That being said, the drink was pretty decent. The boba was sweet and balanced the the oolong tea. However, the M size is pretty skimpy in size considering it's price - $4.84. And when I finally got my drink and was excited to taste it, some spilled because the lid was not properly sealed. Disappointed. I'm not sure I would return again because I'm worried the long wait time for DRINKS is an everyday occurrence. I've been here 3 times total, each time, months apart because the service from the previous time made me literally never want to come back. First time, It was when they first opened so i was excited to support! First time was with a small group of friends and i personally was not going to get anything. When it came my time to order i simply stepped to the side and said "no thank you, I'm not getting anything." The cashier then continued to question if i don't like boba, if I've ever tried it, since i have tried it, then why am i not getting anything, etc. it was just kinda awkward after the second/third question. second time, i went i ordered something, nothing memorable but also nothing too bad. Third and FINAL time, was yesterday 11/7/21. Not only did they open late, they were out of many items such as Thai tea and another boba drink so i didn't get the drinks i originally wanted. Then, a random kid that was behind the counter walked out suddenly during a rush, and then came back about 5 minutes later and sat outside on his laptop. All of this was occurring while a young girl (didn't get her name) frantically made people's drinks. Thankfully my wait was only about 15 minutes. However, while i was exiting, i overheard a customer that was in there when i walked in ask if her drinks were ready. The person behind the counter (who i assume took place of the kid who's on his laptop) didn't even know what drinks she was talking about. Absolutely unacceptable. I don't even know where to begin. The only reason I am not giving KungFu a 0 star is because of the female employee who basically held this place up on her own while everything was crashing down. Management, either get on it and get her some help or shut this place down. There's no reason for me to wait 50 minutes for three drinks to get done. I got there at 11:50am. My main problem is that you had two workers there in the beginning but only one was actually putting in work. I watched as the girl employee took orders, made drinks, and handled the to go orders while a guy just employee stood there and watched her. I'm not sure if he was training or just didn't care, but there were so many things he could have been doing to help that don't require training. She was rushing and trying to get everything done to the point she was almost knocking over cups. I could tell that she was 1000% overwhelmed and stressed, yet somehow she still kept her composure. She was so kind and helpful to the customers who were forming a long line even when they were growing impatient. She had a few customers get upset with her over some items being out of stock but still remained professional. All the while, the guy employee was still just standing there staring at her and not doing a single thing. I saw her tackle about 20 drinks on her own and he did not help at all. She made a phone call to try to get someone else in and then went back to making drinks. Ten minutes later, a guy came running inside and hopped on to help her while the first guy just casually walked out. He was kind but just walked into a storm or angry customers and super late orders so obviously he was frazzled. Once he got on, I noticed he started organizing the drinks. My drinks were pushed to the back of the line and that's where the wait started. I ordered three drinks at 11:50am and did not get out of there until 12:40. That's 50 MINUTES. I'm livid. When I first got there, I was the only person inside and was told that my drink would be done in just a few minutes. Before I knew it, 30 minutes passed by and I was still waiting. I asked about my order but I was told to wait a few more minutes. The guy who came in to help finally made my first two slushes but did not make my third (Thai tea). I asked again nicely if my order was ready and the girl let me know that they were not only out of boba, but also Thai tea. The Thai tea was the only reason I went there! Since I didn't want to waste all of that time for nothing, I decided to try a rose hip tea. Finally, my drink came out and by this time, my slushes were already melting. The drink I got was not good but I decided to just take the loss and move on. 50 minutes of wasted time and $15 of wasted money. I want management to know that the girl working on Nov 7 single-handedly stopped your store from sinking. The guy who came in was such a big help as well but she did not stop moving from the moment I got there until the moment I left. I understand everyone is short staffed due to Covid but if it means forcing your employees to fend for themselves to the point of a mental breakdown, then just make it to where you are open a few days a week. Having one employee do all of the work because no one wants to come in is not fair to them and frankly disrespectful as hell. There should have been a manager or an owner there at least helping. As much as I loved coming here, I will never return to this location due to the lack of support. The medium cups are pretty small so if you want more drink def go for the large size which is an extra .60 charge. I ordered the Wintermelon Green Milk Tea and it was way too sweet. If you don't like too sweet then I recommended you get less sweet on this one. The drink was also kinda warm too. There wasn't much ice in it so I did open it and pour into another cup at home. I normally don't do reviews, however, I am giving this place 5 stars for their drinks but primarily because of their customer service today. I came here exactly at 11 AM this morning after my morning run at a nearby park. The store stayed closed for about 10 minutes until one of the associates came out to explain their delay and apologized. He politely asked if I don't mind waiting few more minutes until they can completely troubleshoot the mechanical error, which I didn't mind since all I had left for the day was to study/ read some research articles. Even though the issue was not their fault, the associate offered me my drink on the house. I was very impressed by his kind gesture; in addition to this, the same associate asked if I wanted some water while I was studying after he noticed I finished my drink. I don't remember going to a boba place in the past with open spaces where customer service to this level was offered. The drink was definitely to my liking as well, not because it was free but the taste of my oolong milk tea was smooth, aloe vera was plump and not too sweet, and the amount of ice was not excessive like most boba places. Before I left the place in the PM, I got the same order (paid this time) to verify that my taste buds weren't biased by the free drink they offered the first time.
