Took the 9:15 yin class and it's the first time in my decade of doing yoga (including yin) that I almost had to leave in the middle of the class. Yin is about grounding poses and this class was a hybrid of a barre class mixed with prep for a marathon run. Music (electric guitar, power ballads) were cranked up (which is why this reminded me of a barre class). We were being asked to find solitude within (which is totally within the realm of yin), but that was impossible to do with the rock/pop music blaring (the instructor would increase volume throughout). I have never had an unfortunate experience at Kur but this was definitely an unfortunate class. For those newer to yin (and there were a few folks in the class that were new to yin), this class may likely have had them running for the hills. The instructor didn't offer any modifications, which is unusual at Kur (and in yoga classes in general). Perhaps this instructor is better suited for a vinyasa class or a type of class that's meant to be hard charging vs meditative. read more

Welcome to Asbury Park! This place is a gem. Just had my first massage with Rich. Excellent! Very intense and deep tissue massage that was just what I needed. Owner Troy greeted me in a friendly and professional manner, the place is very inviting. Great decor and colors. As an aside, I loved hearing that the building was an old print shop that was beautifully renovated and designed. Rich was a knowledgeable and attentive therapist who listened to my areas of need and really worked them out. My shoulders and back were sore after, but the good kind of sore. My only regret is that I only booked 45 minutes..... I'm not making that mistake again! Rates are very reasonable and I already booked my next massage! Can't wait for it. Truly an amazing experience. Surprised my wife for her birthday and took advantage of the couples massage. My wife had the Swedish massage with Rodney and I had the Deep Tissue massage with Diana and both added the aroma therapy. Kur is AWESOME! I try to go for a 60 minute massage a few times a month. Rich, Dave and Antonio are all great massage therapists. Knowledgeable, easy to talk to. Let them know about about any aches or pains and they will make it disappear! Kur is beautiful. So clean. So well designed. Smells great! Troy, the owner, is the best. I called the office a month ago during regular operating hours and reached a machine; I left a message regarding their Groupon and a couple questions I had for scheduling an appointment and no one returned my call. A week later I called again at 2pm and spoke with Veronica (I think); she said she was going to look into the questions I had and get back to me that day before 6pm. Yet again, no return call! Two attempts at trying to get information and both attempts left unanswered. I have lost all interest in even trying to make an appointment here since it's proving impossible! Due to the unprofessional employees and excuses they have for their poor work ethic you couldn't pay me to go there! Absurdly responsive and attentive booking and reservation process, very cool location in refurbished downtown (the entire block looked to be totally made over), and the massage was one of the best, if not the most thorough (the therapist diagnosed me as having some type of shoulder socket pull or tear that I was aware of but had no idea where the pain was coming from originally because I assumed I had a pinched nerve somewhere). We only got massages and they went out of their way for a specialty massage for my wife, who very much enjoyed hers. I also don't want to 'cheapen' their services with this next comment so I'll preface it- how much would you pay for a 60 minute, professional, spa-located massage in NJ? $120 and up right?
