PLEASE READ TILL THE END. This rating is based solely on my dish: Beef Yakiniku Curry Rice. The portion had a good amount of beef and was very flavorful. The beef was thinly sliced, not greasy, and paired well with the curry. It also came with pickled radish on the side, which helped cleanse the palate. Nothing too crazy, but definitely fun to eat. The server was friendly and very mindful of allergies. I loved that the utensils are kept in a small drawer by the table, clean and doesn't take up space. HOWEVER... let me spill the tea. The rest of my party (3 other people) absolutely HATED their dishes. I have an egg allergy, so I couldn't try their katsu or ramen, which I found a bit surprising, since most ramen places I've been to don't use eggs in the noodles themselves. I was torn because I genuinely enjoyed my dish, but considering this is primarily a ramen shop, I feel obligated to share their experience. The ramen broth was very bland almost milky, and the meat was chewy and disappointing. I hope it was only an off day for them since there are so many great reviews which prompted us to go in the first place
We purchased food to go here and what a good choice we made in visiting this outstanding restaurant among hundreds of Asian restaurant choices in Carrollton! The service is top notch, warm and friendly! In fact, our waitress, skipped the tipping part of the transaction since our order was to go. I tipped anyway! We ordered the vegetable ramen and the beef yakiniku ramen and made them combination orders for a small amount more with added cheese katsu and chicken katsu with the most delicious sauces. Both ramens were outstanding and just what we needed in cold weather. The broth is really flavorful as well. This was my first try at cheese katsu and now I am definitely a fan! Absolutely remarkable food. The decor is cute and the atmosphere is very nice. I would definitely go back here for more of the delicious ramen and katsu and maybe try some other items! I highly recommend!
I love it here!! The pork tonkotsu is SO yummy, i think about it pretty regularly. The ramen is also very tasty, but i really come for the tonkotsu. The service is great for such an intimate space. Servers are friendly and quick with taking orders and if you need to go boxes.
Kurobuta is my goto place for Pork Loin Katsu. One, because it taste good. Two, because they package it nicely when you get it for takeout The salad might have too much mayo on it though... but I still ate it Everything just goes nicely together: the tonkatsu, the kimchi/pickled radish, the salad, and of course the rice. Their takoyaki is pretty good too.
This place is known for ramen and katsu but both are NOT good at all! We ordered the classic tonkotsu ramen and it was tasteless. So many things that are wrong about this ramen. The noodles are not the traditional wheat ramen noodles, they're egg noodles like Chinese noodles. Chasu pork is very chewy. The egg is ajitama, not marinated egg but just a plain boiled egg. The broth is oddly white, super bland, and tastes like hot milk. Pork tender loin katsu is supposed to be juicy and crispy. It has the crispiness from the batter but the meat is very bland. The gravy has an odd flavor profile - the tartness and sweetness going two separate ways. Dressing on cabbage salad that comes with the katsu is tasteless thick liquid. The only good thing about this place is our friendly server.
Met up with a coworker for dinner--great ramen and great service. we also split a bottle of soju and had a great time.
As someone who's lived in Japan for 2.5 years, I always try to find spots to compare or to scratch that itch and fail miserably. I found this place a 2weeks ago and I've already been back twice. The curry here is amazing. They do it w ramen and rice. As someone who's had both, they're both delicious. I will be returning especially as it gets rainy and colder out!! The service is fast and attentive. The ambiance also gives that hole in the wall Japan vibe.
Great service and a pretty dang good ramen. I've had some incredible like 5-star almost ramen and this is my favorite in for a pinch on in this part of Dallas. Good broth and noodles and piping hot (been to a couple here and it came out lukewarm). Definitely stop by! - Only improvements would be cleaning the bathroom and a spot where it was quieter if you didn't want the more communal bar atmosphere.
I really enjoyed the hip hip Asian fives at this restaurant. The ramen was really good and flavorful. The staff is great and the overall dining experience was good. For genuine Japanese ramen I give this a thumbs up.
It was a good experience. I went here years ago when it first opened but was underwhelmed. They've made lots of changes since then and am glad I tried it tonight. Cheese katsu- portions were huge and I was really stuffed. The cheese was so gooey and tasty! Chicken katsu was nice and crispy. I got a side of curry and I'm glad I did as I don't like their sweet sauce that came with it. The curry sauce is a bit sweet and mild. If possible, I would prefer if they could omit the sugar as I really don't like sweet. Spicy tonkotsu ramen- super tasty! I think I like this slightly better than the cheese katsu but it was salty. Still, I enjoyed the bowl I actually rate this place 3.5/5. What I hope to see them improve on is cleanliness as I see lots of crumbs when I sat at my seat. But other than that, great place to eat, good portion sizes and decent price. Will be back.
I came on a Saturday for lunch with friends, and to start off the flavors of the dishes are definitely there. I got the curry rice with chicken katsu and it was delicious! My friends got ramen and they also had no complaints. My reason for it not being a 5 star is due to the insanely slow service, which is at no fault of the server as he was doing his best apparently taking care of most if not all the tables. My friend had asked for sriracha and she never got it. We ran out of water but no one came to check up on us to even let us ask for more. I had to flag down someone for us to pay. Overall the food is good, however I think they could improve on their staffing in front of house. I did notice we were not at all the only ones waiting a long time for ordering food and getting any service.
I came here for lunch because I was in the area. Kurobuta has been on my list for some time now. I understand why this place has received so many positive reviews, but I was not impressed with it. I ordered the chicken katsu. It took roughly 15 minutes for the food to come out, which wasn't too long of a wait. It came with a white dipping sauce, a cabbage salad with a mayo-based dressing, and a small bowl of rice. Chicken katsu is made of white meat. Despite being fried, the inside was still moist and juicy. The lack of seasoning and the unsatisfactory dipping sauce made it unpalatable. I prefer the traditional katsu sauce. The salad's dressing was also excessively sweet. The rice was cooked perfectly. The restaurant is small and intimate. I love how they have all the utensils and napkins in the drawers at the table, super convenient. Service was great. The server explained everything thoroughly. Overall verdict: it was a decent meal, but I probably won't be coming back. Good: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5

Best katsu in the DFW area! I've frequented this place pre-covid and now. The way that they have handled the current situation is commendable. When dining in covid-time, the staff enforced strict 50% capacity and sat us 6 feet apart. They have a takeout station by the door where the customers wait for the staff to bring the food. Although I tried to limit exposure to the outside world, I couldn't resist ordering some katsu for takeout. I was really craving the pork katsu since no one can compare. My airfryer can't do it justice. Their take out was packaged very well with a bento styled to-go box. The food was still hot when we got home which is about a 20 minute drive. Impressive! Although I know it's inevitable for takeout to get room temp, it's still nice to be able to eat it right when you get home. Top 3: Pork loin katsu $11.50 Super juicy, tender and crispy with enough pieces to feed a very hungry yelper or share with someone! Honestly, this is such a great deal. Katsu don $9.50 Crispy Katsu cutlet on a bed of rice that's topped with flavorful egg and sautéed onions. Typing this made my mouth water. A must try. Cheese katsu $13.50 For the cheesy foodies, this is it! Crispy and melty, this satisfies all the mouthfeel you crave. Although on the pricey side, I highly recommend trying this dish! Note: this place was approved by my picky Taiwanese mother so you know it's gotta be good. read more

One of my favorite spots for ramen and katsu! I love coming here to get the chicken katsu it is so good especially with the rice on the side and sauce! The ramen is also delicious! Service is always amazing and quick! Keep in mind during the weekend in the afternoon and on it does get busy so plan to wait a bit. Place is clean and waiters take great care of you! read more

Got the super spicy seafood ramen - it was, as advertised, super spicy and the portion size was HUGE. I had a full meal and had leftovers for several days! The ramen itself was okay but I did love the level of spice. We also got the curry ramen, which again was a pretty large portion size and was decent, although nothing too mind blowing. TLDR - would give it 3 stars for the quality of the food alone, but the portion sizes and service bump it up to a 3.5-4 stars. Would try again! read more

I came here for lunch and wanted to get either ramen or curry. I had had curry the day before so I decided to go for one of their ramen dishes. Kurobuta Super Spicy Ramen: tonkotsu broth, bean sprout, pork, onion, mushroom, carrot, fish cake, green onion. The ramen came out in a reasonable manner and they were not lying when they said that it was super spicy. It was more of a douse of Sriracha-type sauce and the heat kept multiplying rather than it being full of spices. I feel like they kinda cheapened out on some of the ingredients, because when it first came it didn't really all that great. Their broth is just alright; nothing too special with it. Ramen itself was sturdy and thin and aplenty though, so they do give you a lot of materials! Their service here is decent. They explained how all the tableware and napkins were on the side and gave a jug of water as well, but didn't really note to refill it when it got empty. It kinda really was like they were afraid to come over unless you called them hahaha. read more

This place was pretty happening during lunch, which was a bit surprising since it's in a relative nondescript area of the Hmart plaza. But it's busy with good reason as they have a lot of comfort food at its finest. The food here is satisfying and the serving sizes are definitely plentiful - there is zero chance you will leave hungry no matter what you order. The ramen broth here is on the lighter side - my wife got the Nagasaki which has a tonkotsu base but tasted more like seafood, which is probably good given it is a seafood ramen. Wavy noodles soak up the broth well and its deliciously light overall. As for myself, I could not help but try the cheese katsu - haven't seen that anywhere else and I keep hearing about how cheese + anything is a super popular pairing in Korea. Perhaps rich fatty melted cheese with deep fried pork is caloric overkill, but I guarantee you it's darn delicious. Juicy katsu smothered in a stringy mozarella cheese cup is awesome contrasted with a crisp panko crust. You'll need the rice and the sauce to help cut through the richness, but its worth every bite. The slaw is good too - but think I would prefer a more acidic vinegrette style dressing to help alleviate the richness instead of the mayo based one we got. Still, it's delicious - just be prepared for a nap afterwards. Note: the chopsticks and napkins are on a side drawer on your table. read more

Went here a while back and I throughly enjoyed it. I got the spicy seafood ramen. It is very spicy but I loved it. It was filled with all sorts of seafood from shrimp to squid. The staff will warn you a few times that it's spicy. Service was great and I'll be coming back soon to try the Cheesy Katsu. read more

It's difficult not giving this place five stars...seriously for great food, service, price point, and ambiance. Allow me to elaborate...it's Da Bizomb...nuff said... Visited on a Monday afternoon. Place wasn't busy and was seated quickly. Server seemed very attentive from the start. First things first - libations of course! Ordered a Kirin Ichiban to cleanse the palate, right?! After perusing the menu and comparing pics from my fellow Yelpers I had a game plan. Start off with Gyoza and follow up with the Chicken Katsu combo plate. Sounded solid. A few sips of the adult apple juice and I was ready...Gyoza came out first - Not too shabby. Crispy, tasty - hit the spot. But I wasn't ready for what was to come. Just a few short minutes later, out comes the server carrying this rather large tray and when he set it on the table it was just a thing of beauty...the chicken katsu with a small bowl of udon noodles and some sides which I had no idea what they were - but it they were good. Then - the taste test. I couldn't wait. My eyes were eating before I was. I went in for the Katsu - OMG! Light, airy and crispy outside with a juicy inside and so flavorful. The udon noodles were fantabulous. Thick noodles in a very tasty broth. I enjoyed it very much. Couldn't finish it all though - way too much food. The Katsu can be shared if they allow it. The spicy tonkatsu ramen- I liked how they seared the pork, and it was was better than the Kalbi ramen. The beef rib in the kalbi was kinda underwhelming, but I guess I just prefer tonkatsu broth over dashi. The cheese katsu was hot, melty, and cheesy... soooo good read more
Wow... Great place, packed with people even since who waited. We loved the super spicy seafood ramen, tiger shrimp Katsu curry and handmade gyoza... The best ramen I've ever had and I love ramen! go there, get some!! They are fairly new so have some growing pains to ensure the place is picked up quickly as people leave and our person forgot to put in the gyoza order so we had to remind..but he was friendly and helpful so I will be back! read more

So first thing about ramen places for me is that I am not the biggest tonkatsu ramen fan just because I have had such bad experiences with some and they are too salty for my taste. I have found a couple places that had pretty good tonkatsu ramen and so I am lightening up a bit. Coming in, I was disappointed because they didnt have any shoyu ramen options. The ramen here seems very fusion like and sounds kind of werid at first. Also the resturant is a lot smaller than you think and the tables seem pretty cramped together making the place really packed. I looked at some pictures and thought the donkatsu looked pretty good and crispy so I got one of those, a tonkatsu ramen since no shoyu, and a spicy seafood ramen for the heck of it. I loved the way the donkatsu was fried but the meat was slightly bland and tough and they gave too little donkatsu dipping sauce on the side. The pieces of donkatsu were big and the dipping side too small. It was a little tough to eat. The tonkatsu ramen was good but very different than most places I have tried. The broth was so white.. it almost looked fake or like they added striaght up milk. It was.. interesting in a good way. Not salty at all and very easy to eat. Only disappointing is the noodles is very thin and I like the chewy wider noodles in my ramen. There is no option for any other types of noodles and so if your a big noodle person like me, you may not be completely satisfied. Lastly the spicy seafood ramen is pretty spicy so if you can't handel heat beware. I got the mild flavor and it still had a kick that makes you need to cough and lips burn a little. The ramen it self didn't remind me of ramen at all but more of this Korean Chinese fusion dish called Jjamppong. It tasted like that and was good but to me not ramen haha. I think the prices are pretty high but the quantity of the food is on the bigger side so it evens out. They also have a bomb ass happy hour 50 percent off every drink making soju like 7 bucks! I would give this place a try and see for your self! It isn't my favorite ramen place but I do see my self coming here in the near future with some friends! read more
I love trying out the Asian food around the area over here since there's just so many high quality options, and this place was no exception. My parents and I were out for the weekend buying some ingredients and various other things, and we always stop out for lunch, and my dad suggested Kurobuta this time! Kurobuta definitely didn't disappoint. I got the Gyuudon, and shared the Croquettes, Takoyaki, and Cheese Katsu. The gyuudon was much better than I expected, and they put egg in it which isn't normal for gyuudon but tasted amazing. The croquettes were my second favorite thing here by a long shot, they were soft and fluffy on the inside with a great flavor and a crunchy exterior. The Takoyaki were... well, they were Takoyaki. I have a hard time finding varying flavors on that food since most of them in the area taste relatively the same. The Cheese Katsu was my least favorite because, at first I was amazed because of how nice the cheese pull was, but the flavor just wasn't there. There was cheese, meat, and deep-fried, but almost no seasoning. Overall this place is very good and worth the try! read more

Soooo I came here, friends said get the katsu, I went against their recommendations and got the spicy ramen. I'll say the ramen is like a 3+, thats not their specialty. Their chicken katsu though is a 4.5! They got a little packed and a little understaffed on the Friday I came in, but they are super friendly. Would come again for the katsu! read more

I'm glad I decided to try this place because I was able to try Katsu Curry! It's hard to find places that serve chicken katsu curry instead of pork katsu, so I was really excited to see that on the menu. The chicken katsu is perfectly crisp and seasoned, and the curry is really flavorful! I was not disappointed with my experience, and I'm definitely coming back to try more of their menu. Also the staff is covid-conscious and they wear masks, and they have hand sanitizer at the door! read more
Super satisfying! I was craving Tonkatsu Tei-Shoku and it was so good. I had the pork tenderloin katsu and my husband got the chicken katsu. Chicken katsu is served with tartar sauce and it's really good. If tartar sauce isn't your thing, you can ask for katsu sauce. I also ordered miso soup since this meal is not complete without miso soup. Lol trust me. Take tonkatsu (pork katsu), add mustard and dip in sauce and take a bite. Then get a bit of rice and then got miso soup after. This is the perfect combo! You can add the cabbage salad or tsukemono (picked veggies) in between. Anyway, I enjoyed it. Specialized in ramen & katsu with lots of other options (like rice bowl, curry or udon), this is a great spot to bring your friends/ family to. I love LOVE the ambiance here as it reminds me of some of restaurant I went to in Japan. Will definitely be back to try their iconic cheesy katsu! My favorite spot to order tonkatsu (pork cutlet) at. They always make it fresh and super crispy. Their batter is quite light and the pork within stays juicy. The price might be slightly high but the quality of food is worth it. It is always consistently good and their waiters/waitresses are extremely attentive. Only feedback I would give this place is that they price their alcohol on the higher end. Possibly priced higher to ensure customers don't get tipsy here? Will definitely come back again! read more

Yay! A new restaurant serving two of my favorite dishes! Ramen AND Tonkatsu! Sadly, I think this place missed the mark for me. Food was just okay overall as a whole. Service was lacking. When our party walked in, no one was really there to immediately greet or seat us. I barely noticed we were being seated until someone in our party sat down. Seems they kind of just pointed at a table and we sat there. Menus and drinks didn't arrive in a timely manner, mind you it isn't a large restaurant. We had to ask for the menus after some waiting. Anyhow, after we finally had the opportunity to order, we also asked for two small bowls. Instead we got "one" plate that was dropped off and then the server just walked away. It wasn't what we needed nor the right quantity. When a customer has to get up and physically walk towards the back of the house to look for utensils and bowls, that's a problem, which is exactly what happened. I got up, walked to back and basically helped my self to the two bowls I asked for. Anyhow, the food: Donkotsu Ramen: The broth was okay, it wasn't bad. Toppings of bamboo, chashu, and eggs were executed well. Not bad and not spectacular in any way. It was good. The problem I had with this dish were the noodles. It wasn't ramen that I received. Ramen to me and most places I've had them throughout the world is a wheat based noodle that has a slight yellow color and chew to it. The noodles I received here were the white somen noodles (wheat based, but much thinner), with zero chew and a very different taste because it's stretched out with oil to make it thin. Not what I was expecting, wasn't bad, but definitely doesn't make the dish better with the noodle variation. Definitely can't say I really enjoyed what I received. Pork Loin Katsu: The katsu had an amazing and light breading that gave it a good exterior crunch while the pork was still juicy and not dry. One of the better katsu porks I've had in the area. This dish came with rice, a side of the katsu sauce, some citrus, sliced vegetables, and shredded cabbage. We opted to get a side of the curry, which I noticed they must've dropped in price during their short stint since opening. It had been reduced from $4 down to $2. They physically etched it out in pen and rewrote it. The drop in price seemed a very smart move as the bowl of curry, wasn't large enough to warrant a $4 cost. Other ramen establishments provide a better side of curry that includes rice or other side options at a lower cost. The curry wasn't bad, it's plain Japanese style curry with a bit of spice. I suppose as good as the Pork Loin Katsu dish was, it got overshadowed by the poor service and the ramen. I'm not quite sure, but I really wish I would've asked why some ramen dishes, seemed to be served ramen while others got somen noodles. I actually took a gander at other tables and it seemed like some tables had ramen, but depending on what you ordered, it seems some bowls got somen noodles. We rarely saw service for our table beyond the initial order, food/plate drop, and when we got our check (To which we literally had to call/signal across the restaurant to get). I'm bit sad and very disappointed that a new spot with reasonably good tonkatsu has such bad service. Prices seems standard, but under portioned when compared to other competitors. Pretty sure we won't be back here. read more

I came here with my girlfriend on a Friday afternoon and even though it was busy we were still able to find a table. Our order was taken pretty quickly and the staff was friendly. Even though our order was taken quickly it actually took a lot of time for our food to come out, even considering how busy they were. The interior is pretty nice and modern, and has a good atmosphere that might be nice to have a couple of drinks at if you like sake. We ordered the pork katsu and the super spicy seafood ramen. The pork katsu was pretty standard, crispy, and tender. It comes with the cabbage salad and a little bowl of katsu sauce. I liked the katsu here but it wasn't anything particularly special. The super spicy seafood ramen was really unique and unexpected. It had a taste similar to jjambong, a Korean spicy seafood noodle dish. I wasn't a huge fan of the noodles themselves because I prefer slightly thicker noodles then what they served with this dish, but it was still decent. The broth was very flavorful and actually spicy which I loved! There's a decent amount of seafood in the soup too surprisingly so I felt like I was getting my money's worth. read more

I was craving a really good bowl of Ramen, and let me tell you, I was not disappointed. This is one of the best bowls of Ramen ever!!!!! Spicy, savory, the right amount of salt, creamy, garlicky goodness in a bowl. This is a drive worthy bowl of Ramen. I will be back. Thank you phenomenal food and service!!!!! read more
Place was packed during a holiday weekday, but still got seated quickly. Located in an asian strip mall in Carrollton. Ordered the takoyaki, kurobuta super spicy ramen, chicken karaage ramen, and squid pork bulgogi don. The ramens were okay, the broth itself was not very flavorful and didn't have many toppings with it. No substitutions were allowed for any of the Ramens, we could not substitute the pork for chicken. The takoyaki and squid pork bulgogi don were tasty and flavorful. read more
Probably the best Katsu spot in DFW in my opinion. Got the chicken Katsu and it was on point!!! Not too dry, perfectly chewy on the inside and perfectly crunchy on the outside. Definitely coming back here with friends to try more of what's on their menu! read more
