This spot is one where I had high expectations but unfortunately they were a solid 3 in my book. We met friends for a late lunch. They had already ordered. Pros: Staff is friendly Food comes out quickly. Cons: Taste is mid Sushi pieces are small (at least the two we ordered) We tried an appetizer, chicken karagge, and it tasted like rubbery chicken with mayo on the side :-( we have had this app at many restaurants and normally there's a yummy bbq tasting sauce that goes along with the chicken and a bit more crunch. We ate it anyway because we hate wasting food (& in this economy, it's too expensive to throw things away). This was a 3/10 on taste. We had two rolls: a deep fried roll which tbh was the best roll we had it was super tasty and had a lot of sauces on it and a shrimp tempura roll. For the prices of these over $10 each, I expected slightly larger pieces. These were probably the only items we had that I didn't mind, they were about a 7/10 on taste. We shared an entree, chicken teriyaki, I don't know what it was but it felt like the teriyaki sauce was put on the plate and the chicken sat on top of it. My issue was the teriyaki sauce, I just wasn't a fan. Thankfully my husband ate it. I would give this one a 5/10 on taste for me. I wanted to love it, especially because we drove from 45 min away to try it but it was not meant to be :( Our friends said they would not come back either, they had gyoza, edamame, a dragon roll, and shared an entree that had beef & chicken teriyaki. Awesome food and great service with tremendous portion sizes. We came in on a rainy day and I had never been here before. I ordered the unagi don and was not disappointed. The portion size of the eel was massive, with the rice being hot. It was a bit dry but we did come towards closing time. We had some garlic edamame and some sushi rolls, all of which were delicious and I was absolutley stuffed at the end. This was the first time I had anything resembling teriyaki from "Home" since my last visit to WA. I never knew till I moved to TX and tried to order chicken teriyaki that it wasn't just a universal dish of grilled boneless thighs piled high on the bed of rice smothered/drizzled..your preferred way...with thick sticky sauce. Mini cup of the thin sauce to top the rice and your side of salad mix with thin almost watery white dressing.. I would show my friends here what REAL teriyaki wa supposed to be.. Then my son found this place.... Sigh... Could almost feel the drizzling rain it tasted so good!! Went Saturday night and the food was amazing! The service even better! The service alone was enough to make me come back before trying the food because as soon as we walked in, we were greeted warmly and the guy at the register was super friendly. The place was very clean and I like the wall mural they had. I ended up ordering the bacon fried rice and a sushi roll. The bacon fried rice was actually not salty and had a mild flavor. I was surprised. It was pretty decent tho. I added soy sauce and another sauce they had on the table.My friends both liked their dishes. Popped in for a little dinner. Had a craving for some sushi and some other little nibbles. Pretty busy at 4:15 pm on Saturday. A friendly welcome from the man at the counter- he was very energetic , loud music. The gentleman was nice and waited patiently as I ordered. There was a sign that said "iced coffee- $2.95 on the counter but it was sold out. The sign by the beverages said sold out but was hard to see. Maybe removing the sign from counter would be a nice suggestion. Ordered chicken fried rice, egg rolls and a $16 Seattle roll. Ny roll surely did not look like the pictures others have posted and arrived in a little disarray- missing the pizzazz of the sauce on top. Pricey for roll and for fried rice- good amount but - almost $14 Egg roll was delicious, nice size and flavor. Fries rice lacked flavor- needed a bit more seasoning. The sushi roll looked like it has been rolled around. It wasn't impressive for $16. The other thing that I was a little upset about- i put in the order at 4:18 and walked to the back counter top table- by 4:43 I looked at the counter and saw a brown bag and the owner/manager/person who took my order and another person were on their phones so I decided to approach at 4:48- he then called my name- I asked if it had been sitting long. I'm wondering how long it was just sitting on the counter while they hung out. Overall I was disappointed- he made it a point to chat it up with others in the restaurant, I just didn't feel that much effort to notify me when my food was ready until I approached. We came to 206 luster grill for our family Valentine's Day dinner. We live a few minutes from here and saw it has almost 5 stars. When we walked in we were greeted immediately by who seemed like the owner. He was super helpful in making my choices for what a good sushi roll for my preferences would be (spicy and raw). Everything was soooo good! All the food came out swiftly. The teriyaki entree came first. My husband shared that with our two toddlers (3 years and 1 year old). My daughter (1) LOVED the chicken and my son (3) tore up the salad and rice. They are super picky, so we were so glad about that! My Excalibur roll was the perfect combo of spice and savoriness. The love love roll was beautiful and perfectly crunchy. My kids loved looking at the love love roll that they both wanted a bite--a bit spicy for them but perfect for me. My husband got the shrimp tempura roll and loved it. The fried zucchini was melt in your mouth good even without the sauce! Lastly, the aesthetics of the restaurant were very inviting, family oriented, and sooo clean. The man that greeted us had a daughter that came in who was so cute (my son loved saying hi to her) and a wife that told us goodbye when we were on our way out. I loved the bathroom--beautiful.
