Where light used to be

Sent my truck in to repair a scrape on the rear door and body panel. 9 days later, I picked up my truck to find out that they ripped out my amp research powerstep lights without asking me. When I say ripped out, I don't mean uninstalled. They physically ripped out the lights from where it was installed. None of my window trim was installed correctly and they said that is how it was supposed to be installed. Only after contacting my insurance company did they agree to take a look at the window trim again to find out that they did a crappy job trying to install it. Talk about half ass. They already admitted to me that they ripped out the lights to speed up the bodywork and paint but said that they will not replace it. Bodywork and paint was ok. You can see a strong tape line of the area between paint and texture. They said "that's the only way to do it." Customer service there sucks, this s#it show business is not managed well. Do yourself a favor and take your car to Pearlridge fender and body. That is a well run business, inside and out. They treat you and your auto well.

Highly recommend Kuroda's for any repairs you may need to your car. My repairs may have seemed minor to others but it was a brand new car and most definitely was not my fault. Nevertheless, I had a great experience at Kuroda's. They called me the Friday prior to remind me of my appointment. And finally the day arrived. They texted me and kept me informed about the status updates which put my worries at ease. Initially my repair was estimated to take 3 days, but it was done earlier than expected which was great! They called me an hour and half prior to closing and I excitedly made my way there immediately. My husband initially recommended me here. Even though I was impatient and said another place had an availability sooner, he said absolutely not, only go to Kuroda's. So glad I listened to him lol.

I dropped my car off, last Monday morning and it was ready for pick up Thursday afternoon. My service advisor was Dana K, she was very professional and very knowledgeable, she answered any questions I had. When I got my Crv back, they did an excellent job... kudos to the staff, and they even washed the car. If you ever in a fender bender, this is my go to place... noted, I have used them before and they did an excellent job back them too. I would use them again.

A late weekday evening in 2021, a fat & furry pig that is now in heaven hit my car while I was driving in the middle lane of the H1 freeway going west bound. I was shocked & shaken up at such a heavy & hard impact & more so on the damages done on my car! While I was safe, my car was damaged but still drivable; & repairs were needed in the front left fender, bumper, headlights & floodlights & internal things etc In working with my insurance, I contacted many different shops located in the Kapolei, Waipahu, Waipio, Pearl City, Ewa Beach area. I had heard of Kuroda Auto Body, Inc from a family member and they were really happy with some car work that they got done. So when something happened to my car I added Kuroda to my list of options. Now that it's all done and over with, I am so glad I chose to have my car repaired at Kuroda Autobody! Why? -Because of the amazing follow through customer service I initially got from just talking to Jordan over the phone -great customer service including from Shanna, Robert, Sherry, Janie--comparable & perhaps better than what I typically receive when going straight to Mercedes for my car maintenance -They had safe Pandemic protocols in place -I'm also so pleased with the results because the part they worked on looks like a brand new car -I love how the team kept me up to date on how they were working directly with my insurance company AAA and enterprise Rental on my behalf making it so easy and stress-free for my already challenging circumstance

Hit & run on Liliha St.

Had to take my car to get it estimated on a hit and run on Liliha St. This was going around 70mph on a 25mph zone, hit my car broad side and ran off, the main thing nobody got hurt in my car. Went to Kuroda to have it checked out, been coming here for years. Robert Kuroda, the son of the owner has taken over the business, Unfortunately the car could not be fix, due to the air bags got deployed. Robert help out on my insurance claim, since it was consider total. Had to buy a new car. Again, Kuroda is the place to go if you ever get into a accident. Aloha, Derek

So if there is ever a time that you need an auto body repair shop.... Kuroda Autobody is legit. They do honest work and have a satisfaction guarantee for the work that they do. I have been going to them for more than 20 years. Not consecutively only whenever there is damage to my vehicles. The work is so good that you can't tell where the damage happened. They are professional and efficient. Initially you take your car for a thorough estimation. They order the parts and at the same time give you a time for you to bring your vehicle in to be repaired. Their timing is pretty good and accurate when they stay the work will be completed. They never kept my car for longer than a week. OK not even longer than five days. They work with many insurance companies. And if I Rent-A-Car is needed they have a couple companies that will shuttle you as needed. If ever you need a place to repair your vehicle professionally come here!! Its a family business and many of the workers remain!! That says a lot!!

Before.....

The 20th century Shropshire poet A.E. Houseman once wrote: "... others, I am not the first!...". Indeed I also am not the first to sing the many praises of the talents, professionalism, and value of Kuroda Autobody. As you peruse the totality of the previously submitted reviews as a collective, you cannot help but come away with an accurate sense of why having Kuroda experts perform body shop repair work on your personal vehicle makes enormous sense. In fact, even when analyzing costs per se, the question morphs to "why would you not want Kuroda to work on your vehicle?"... My case is one of personal stupidity, hubris, and trying to get somewhere faster than my car's inherent safety devices were designed to go. After doing some research I realized I would need to convince my insurance company to approve my selection of Kuroda for the repairs. It was much easier than I thought.... they agreed immediately since Kuroda is a licensed and certified repair shop for State Farm along with several other insurance firms. Brian was the lead who processed my claim in what we call in the engineering field "cradle-to-grave" mgt. A consummate professional, Brian was exemplary throughout the entire process: from initial intake, to parts ordering, to final notification. Cannot say enough great things about Brian and the Kuroda team. It should come as no surprise, that the name of the shop, and it's lineage through the annuals of excellence and service hail from their namesake, the late Robert Kuroda, CMOH recipient, and former 442 RCT veteran. Upon entering the office, you come face to face with a glass display case full of memorabilia on Mr Kuroda, to include his CMOH presented by the late President Regan. "Go fo' broke!" If all this still isn't enough, consider this final act of unmatched customer service: in my trunk, was a new in wrapper, vehicle inspection decal holder that mounts along side your plate (so you don't have to stick your inspection sticker direct on your rear bumper and ruin the paint. I had not had time to install it. However the Kuroda crew correctly surmised that my goal was to mount it, so they did it for me! How cool was that?! Just by going out of their way to do this extra bit of work, they cemented forever on my memory, the fact that Kuroda is the Only body shop I will every use, going forward. I hope you never need body work stemming from an accident. But if you do, please check out Kuroda. Mahalo nui loa for reading my review.

If your car is modified look somewhere else. The vehicle is lowered but the problem is the body not the suspension.

Absolutely Outstanding Experience at Baba's Auto Gloss Body Shop!…read more I can confidently say Baba's Auto Gloss is hands down one of the best body shops on Oahu. I found them simply by searching for a body shop on the island, and even though I live on the complete opposite side of Oahu, choosing them was 100% worth it. From the very first phone call, I felt the difference. The professionalism, family-oriented atmosphere, and genuine aloha vibe immediately stood out. You don't feel like "just another customer" here -- you feel taken care of. They repaired the driver rear sliding door on my Toyota Sienna, and when I picked it up, I was honestly blown away. My van looked **better than it did before the damage**. The sliding door looked brand new, the paint was flawless, and the overall finish was incredible. What really sets Baba's Auto apart is how they go *above and beyond*. They fixed my rear license plate even though it had nothing to do with the repair, and they even topped off my windshield wiper fluid. Those little details speak volumes about their pride in their work and how much they care about their customers. Huge shoutout to Paul, Willy, and the entire team -- all amazing people who clearly love what they do. Communication was smooth, the process was stress-free, and the results exceeded my expectations. I'm recommending Baba's Auto Gloss to **EVERYONE on Oahu**. If you want top-quality work, honest people, and an all-around excellent experience, this is the place to go. So thankful for the entire Baba's Auto team -- mahalo for taking such great care of my van!

Absolutely do not recommend. Wife had someone at church back into our new Nissan and basically put…read moresmall ding in plastic rear bumper cover. Other part wanted to pay cash, and my wife agreed. Took to this place first, they quoted her nearly $4000 to repair. I'm not a sucker, so looked into it. The cover, all plastic, separates from bumper, and is $$310 at dealership, plus a couple $20 brackets to hold sensors. The sensors needed to be recalibrated, about $250 at dealership. I got one quote from another shop, $350 for his labor, $350 parts and $250 to recalibrate, total $950. New City Nissan quoted me $400 labor and calibration if needed and the $350 parts for total of $750. Ended up gong with the dealership. I'm sure many folks would've just taken thier quote though and not questioned it. They actually put charges for painting into the quote, there was zero painting to be done, plus lots of other extraneous charges, environmental fees, disposal fees etc... Total crooks, do not go there!

Mahalo, Westside Fender for fixing our baby!…read more My car was rear ended while I was at a complete stop. I knew I had to let the car insurance company find a partner local body shop to take care of the damage. Yelp came in clutch when I was on the phone with the insurance claims agent working with the at-fault party (fortunately, both of us had USAA auto insurance). I quickly yelped body shops in the Waipahu/Ewa/Kapolei area, and Westside Fender easily beat the other shops in overall rating. FIRST CONTACT WITH WESTSIDE FENDER: Just minutes after the insurance claims agent/adjuster arranged with Westside Fender, Chelsey called me to set up my appraisal appointment. The appointment was to determine how much the at-fault's deductible would pay for damages, availability of parts, and to schedule repairs and rental car with their partner, Enterprise in Waipahu too. Almost immediately after our phone call, Chelsey sent me an email detailing the appraisal appointment. APPRAISAL APPOINTMENT: I stopped by Westside Fender during my lunch break. The appointment barely took five minutes and I was able to schedule the repair for the following week. They assured me I wouldn't have to pay a single cent based on the fact that I had no fault (USAA's decision, too). REPAIRS: I dropped off my car at the schedule time and date. The technician said the repair process would take a week and a half. Only a week later, Chelsey called me to say my car bumper was fixed! After dropping off my rental at Enterprise and after their shuttle dropped me off at Westside Fender, Chelsey quickly went over the itemized list of repairs and costs to be paid by the at-fault party's deductible. Chelsey then went offsite to pick up my car and drive it back. Not only did my car bumper look as good as new, but Westside Fender actually washed my car and tires too! Now that's exceptional customer service! Not that I wish anyone in Waipahu or Ewa to get into a minor collision, but if you're short on time and need to quickly find a body shop near home, don't look further than Westside Fender! The shop has won many awards and had lasted over 40 years for a reason. Thank you, Westside Fender!

They replaced the large insignia, but they said that I would have to put back the small letters myself. Also while cleaning the car for an inspection, in addition to finding the small letters for the trunk door, I found water in my wheel well for the spare tire in the trunk. I told them that they forgot to reattach the other end of a plastic tube that ran rain water in the trunk door top right corner. They said that they don't detach that. But they had detached the rubber foam seal on trunk door when they painted the car. The seal is in the same area of the door as the plastic tube. If I had known ahead of time about the small letters, I might not have gotten the work done there. Usually shops will replace whatever they took off the car, and not leave everything inside the car for the owner to put back. To be fair, they did put back some of the stuff I found in the car after I picked up the car- like the car insignia, the rubber foam seal on the trunk door.

I was off island until that evening. They were closed 7 June and I picked it up 8 June. The repainted color I am satisfied with but the detail work was mediocre at best. There is a ton of overspray on the rubber around the windows and rear view mirrors. Additionally, there are already a few chips in the paint in a few spots which will be a problem in the near future. This has been months of frustration. I am now just over it and will not return to this establishment again for paint work. I will say that the manager was apologetic about the delays due to staffing issues but honestly due to the way this was handled initially, I should have been a top priority and more detail and attention should have been given to my vehicle. In the manager's defense, he did take matters into his hands and conducted a majority of the work himself and I am appreciative of that. I have spent the last 2 hours attempting to clean up the overspray and it will take me several more to get it all removed. Overall , I wish this would have been handled better but you live and you learn. Again, I am satisfied with the color but not the delays in service nor the level of attention to detail. I paid a pretty penny for my vehicle and the paint job was not cheap. The expectations were high but not met. This is my honest assessment and I have no hard feelings towards the establishment nor the folks I have dealt with during this process. Mahalo!

I got a text and a phone call explicitly saying my car was ready for pickup. Because they told me it was done, I went ahead and returned my rental car to Enterprise. When I showed up at the shop, my car wasn't ready. It was still being worked on, had plastic on top of it, and I could see employees actively making fixes to it. They told me I had to come back in 20 minutes. If I didn't have a ride with me, I would have been completely stranded because I already turned in my rental. It's incredibly unprofessional to tell a customer their vehicle is ready when workers are literally still at the car making adjustments. When I returned 20 mins later, the careless garage work only got worse from there. Right after I signed the paperwork and turned my car on to leave, my dashboard lit up with errors, locking my traction control and tire pressure safety lights on. When I immediately brought it up to their mechanic(I believe his name was Arnold), he told me that they had put air in my tires, that they were all good, and I can go drive off. He claimed my two tire sensors were just suddenly "faulty" and that I needed to go get them checked somewhere else, completely refusing to help me with the issue. Honda didn't have an immediate appointment available when I called them the same day I picked up the car, so I took the next closest one. Also on that same day, I checked my tire pressures myself and found that every single tire was overinflated by a massive 6 PSI over the factory limit. I had to let the extra air back out to the correct level myself, but the dashboard lights stayed locked on. I had to pay Honda $270 out of pocket just to have them manually reset the software and clear the code. To top it all off, when my insurance company called the shop to confirm what happened, the shop actually lied to them and claimed my dashboard lights were already on before they ever worked on the car. That is a flat-out lie to cover their own tracks, especially since their mechanic explicitly discussed the sensors and the air they added right at pickup. Thankfully, my insurance company saw through it, took my side, and reimbursed me for the dealer fee anyway. Pearlridge Fender & Body is disorganized with pickup times, their garage work is careless, they refuse to help when they mess up your vehicle, and they lie to insurance companies to avoid accountability. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else.
