If I could give this business negative stars I would! The Kurt Real Estate Group, besides being realtors, acts as a property management group. I vacated a property in Aliso Viejo that they managed over a month ago and they have yet to refund me my security deposit money. They keep coming up with stories regarding their accounts being frozen (of course, they claim it's not their fault). One week ago, the owner called me to tell me he had personally released my funds and I should expect them within 48 hours in my account and NOTHING. Besides being in breech of contract and withholding money owed to me that they invoiced and acknowledge they owe me, my rental experience with them for the 2 years I lived at the property was mediocre, at best. One of their most common schticks was to ignore legitimate requests for maintenance sometimes for weeks to MONTHS at a time. I had a maintenance request that I submitted that was never fixed for a broken window blind. They show up late or not at all for walk-throughs, but are always there to take your money. I STRONGLY recommend you think twice about engaging with this business. There is clearly mismanagement from the top down and it will only hurt your property value, personal finance, and business to deal with them. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS! There are plenty of legitimate realtors and property management groups that are willing to go the extra mile for their clients and tenants. I can't believe I am the first one to review Kurt on Yelp. If I could give him more than five stars, I would, because Kurt is truly a fantastic real estate agent. Earlier this year with my stock portfolio plummeting and apartment prices rising, I decided to invest whatever that is left in my portfolio in a home. I am a first time home buyer, and was casually looking on redfin for new listings for a little while. I have called a few agents before I saw one of Kurt's listings on socalmls, and how glad I found him! He is knowledgeable, experienced, professional, and very very responsive. But besides these qualities a good agent should have, he offers so much more. You can tell he does his due diligence on both the client and property thoroughly before any meeting; I am always impressed by him remembering things so well when he has 30 listings and numerous clients to deal with. Sometimes a subtle comment goes a long way, and those comments show that he tries to think in your shoes and have your best interest in mind. I am usually not a big fan of real estate agents- they often seem "successful" and "knowledgeable"- they drive BMW or M-Benz and carry a good price-tagged brief case. But when you actually get to know them, they don't really know what they are talking about and they don't always respond to your questions with full confidence and clarity. Kurt on the other hand, is well grounded and extremely knowledgeable. He told me that he used to buy and sell properties as an investment strategy himself, and he also manages several rental properties. He gave me a lot of good information from where to buy carpet to how to add another room in the house; from renting rooms out to filing out my tax return. He is the guy you want to be friend with because he knows so damn much! I read a lot of his listings just to do some research on him before I met with him. There are very few agents out there that can write house descriptions well (not to mention eloquent...If you read listings on redfin, you'd know what I mean), from reading his listings I can tell that he really puts a lot of efforts into them. He also takes great pictures on all of his home postings, which makes a huge difference when a buyer is viewing the properties online initially. (As a long time Canon DSLR user myself, it was a huge plus in my book) When I am a seller someday, I will definitely call him again. It is a rare thing to have both purchased, and sold, a house with the same agent. I have done so with Kurt Galitski. The home I bought in the 'State Streets' of Costa Mesa ten years ago was a tough purchase; I had made offers with other agents who literally cancelled an escrow just because they could get more money from someone else. When deciding to sell my home in Costa Mesa, several factors were important in determining who to work with. Knowledge of the market, a highly developed sense of intuition (developed from years of experience - think of Malcolm Gladwell's book "BLINK"), passion, integrity, fortitude, reliability, responsiveness, compassion and a true desire to achieve beyond what others see. First, I absolutely needed someone who understood the market and the value of the improvements made to my home that justified the asking price. So, someone who wasn't afraid of the asking price. I was not interested in someone who was looking for a quick turnaround (although KRE did deliver a quick turnaround) rather, I wanted someone who was in it for the long term, should that be necessary, because they understood the value of the home I was selling. I met with a few realtors familiar with the geography and ultimately went with KRE for several reasons. Not only was KRE not afraid of the asking price, they employed a strategy that allowed my home to sell, during a holiday season, at a price more than $75K-$85K higher than any other property in our tract. And it sold within 35 days of listing! Kurt, Liz and the entire KRE team displayed the utmost professionalism and even made sure my cat was taken care of during the process!
