Reasonable prices for the area and the fish was fresh. They also close later (10pm on a Monday) than the other restaurants in Pentagon Row. They have a number of unique rolls that I haven't seen in Texas. I think my favourite is the Cherry Blossom which actually looks like a one in its design. The only flaw is that their house sakes are only offered in large bottles that are meant for groups rather than the single diner. This specific location has seen a number of turnover since I stay in Pentagon City twice a year. I believe this was Namaste Everest before the pandemic and before that was a Noodles Noodles. I've been here many times, and haven't been let down yet. Service is always on point (I always sit at the bar) and the place seems attract people who generally are there for good drinks and a good time. This time I've decided to write a review about this place because of the One Piece themed drinks they are currently running. I've only tried the Luffy and Nami, both were good, but the Nami was overall better. On top of drinking these themed drinks, they come garnished with items you'll recognize by character and pirate treasure! Lastly, I won't spoil all the fun, but you may notice the recipes for some of the drinks look familiar . Anyway, had a great time as usual. Was able to finally try this place out after hearing about it a little over a month ago. Walked in and were offered the choice of sitting in front of the sushi bar, the regular bar, or a table in the back. We ended up choosing the regular bar. We were served right away and given a happy hour menu. Altogether, we ordered the Lychee seltzer, and four roll. Of the four rolls the Volcano and Seared Spicy Salmon were my favorite. I also liked the Chesapeake roll since the jalapeño gave a little spice to it. Overall, a great dining experience. Did not feel rushed, and the spacing of the restaurant is respectable. Additionally, the bar area has multiple TV's or you can sit nearby with a view of the outside. I am looking forward to coming to more happy hours here and trying out different items. read more

Kusshi is one of the better sushi places in the area! My partner and I live in the area so we have gone twice in the last two months. We have tried a good amount of the items. The vegetable and shrimp tempura, and the takoyaki was solid, the tuna tartare was delicious! We also had the tofu agadashi and it was delectable, highly recommend! My partner and I both also get the deluxe nigiri sampler and they have been solid both times we have gone. The sampler includes a range of different fish and they serve a good amount for the value. We have come here before and absolutely loved it. We came for Valentine's Day this year. Appetizers came out fast and were delicious. Drinks were a bit slow but it was very busy. I ordered two sushi rolls and my partner ordered the Kusshi noodles. He got his main food and was able to finish the entire bowl and get the bowl cleared before my rolls came out. When they finally came out, my one roll looked nasty, like it had been sitting out for 20 minutes. Even the seaweed wrap was soggy and not fresh. I had to send it back and ask for a new one. For dessert, I ordered mochi and my partner ordered the tempura ice cream. We got the tempura ice cream and ate the whole thing before our waitress even came out to tell us they were out of one of the flavors I had requested. It is very frustrating to have one person eating and one person waiting on their food. The courses should come out at the same time. The (fresh) food was delicious but the disregard in timing was upsetting. I hope this gets addressed internally and corrected as I don't want this to be a recurring problem. read more

I came here the other day for dinner and really enjoyed the experience. I've been to the location in Bethesda before and I like this location better. I was able to find street parking down the street and loved the ambiance and service here. The bartender and manager were great and even comped me an A5 Wagyu Nigiri. The sake and whisky selection here is excellent. The prices are definitely high. The Special Omakase was $120 and not what I would have expected. There were some cooked appetizers and about 6 pieces of Nigiri. I can't say I was a fan of the Omakase as it was very expensive for the kind of food you get. We had the nigiri + sashimi boat and all of the fish was incredible! I highly recommend getting the upgrade to get toro too. I've been wanting to try out kusshi sushi since it's opening and I'm glad we got to check it out! We came for an early lunch Sunday and it was pretty quiet. When we walked in the 3 of us were seated at one of their booths. We started off with the spicy rock shrimp appetizer which was really good! Very crispy shrimp in a delicious sauce. For entrees I ordered the spicy miso ramen but replaced the pork protein with chicken. Other items ordered were the kusshi noodles which is similar to drunken noodles and the firecracker and shrimp tempura rolls. My ramen wasn't bad, the firecracker roll was ok but the shrimp tempura roll was good. The noodles were good too and came with chicken, shrimp and beef. At the end we all split their tempura fried ice cream which was also ok in my opinion, nothing great. Overall it was an average experience. Then the bok choy was not fully cooked and the "seasoned vegetables" were squash and carrot. This felt like a very Americanized udon noodle soup. The noodles were at least good but a lil undercooked. And there was only one piece of fish cake, while the tempura hit the spot. I would not order again. 5/10 for me Pork Curry Katsu: My friend loved it! Normally you would only expect one layer of pork Katsu, but she received two layers! So it was a steal! But she said the curry flavor was light. At least the dish had large chunks of carrot and the Katsu was crispy. She would rate it a 7/10. Ordered takeout for the first time from Kusshi and wasn't impressed with the food or experience. First off, my husband ordered over the phone and got hung up on twice while ordering. Not sure if it's a problem with their phone or the person taking the order but she also seemed like she didn't really know what she was doing (had to ask for his order twice, hung up on him before confirming the order and giving him a pickup time so we had to call back to confirm and she didn't seem confident in the pick up time so we ended up having to wait a bit after we got there). Maybe she was new so not a huge deal but the process definitely took longer than expected (and the phone issues were annoying). Anyways, onto the food. I got the chirashi and man, the variety was really lacking! I don't know if it's just not as great for takeout because some of the dine-in photos of the chirashi looked pretty good but I was disappointed in the lack of variety. The pieces of fish themselves were pretty big which was nice but there just isn't much to rave about and I think there are definitely better chirashi in the area. When I'm craving sushi it's typically chirashi so I probably won't be back but maybe others have better luck with them! read more

I've honestly had better sushi from the base commissary. There was no love put into these rolls, they simply filled the order, the sushi was covered in sauce but there was no seasoning or cohesion. Don't just cut off a piece of cream cheese and shove it in a roll, whip that mess up with some kind of seasoning and add some depth to it!! I spent quite a bit of my hard earned dollars and live fairly close but ALAS, I must continue my journey for a great sushi plug. Absolutely would recommend! My daughter wanted sushi, so we found this place on Yelp!!! The food, service, and ambiance did not disappoint. My daughter ordered California rolls, she stated they were the best she's had thus far, which is truly a compliment because she's a picky eater. I opted for the phoenix and spicy seared salmon both were fresh and delicious. My fav of all was the Phoenix (spicy with a hint of sweetness), the sweetness from the fried shredded sweet potato balanced out the spiciness from the spicy mayo. Let's not forget the edamame, so fresh. I loved that it came out hot, most places bring them out lukewarm. I ordered a Baltimore specialty roll which had crab, avocado, and old bay!! I also had the spicy tuna maki and that came with tuna and cucumber! Both tasted great and were very fresh. I would order both again! I think this might be the best sushi I have had in the area. As for the restaurant it was very toasty inside so don't wear your thick sweater or you'll be sweating!
