This place is a complete rip-off. I wish I could give zero stars. If you go to this place expect to have to pay for some type of repair. They look for any and everything to try to gouge you out of money. This location is pathetic. My husband took his van to get inspected and the tech. told him he could not pass the van because the serpentine belt had cracks in it and wanted to charge him $135 to replace. Of course my husband told him where to go and replaced the belt himself for approx. $35. This place is shameful. read more

On 7/27/2023, at about 2:30 P.M. in the afternoon, I drove into this business establishment to have a diagnostic and potentially a repair as my AC was not working and pushing out hot humid air in a cycle with cool air. Sometimes hot and humid and sometimes cool air. It was over 100 degrees outside that day. The gentleman who took my auto said they could run a diagnostic and find the problem for $169.99. I agreed to the diagnostic and waited in the lobby area for the diagnostic. When the auto was ready, they charged me a total of $183.16 and they told me they had corrected the problem and the auto was cooling. I asked what was wrong with the AC and I did not receive an answer. Mr. Alex, the manager, charged my debit card for these funds. "They told me, when I was checking out, that if this did not work" to come back and they would try something else!!!!! This was a " diagnostic ! " I paid for not, "lets try and they we will try again at your expense!" As soon as I drove out of the driveway of the shop and onto Garland Road, the same hot, humid air began again. I got to a stop light and called this shop about the issues. I called several times and could not get anyone to answer the phone. Finally, I called and Mr. Alex, the Manager of this business. I explained to Mr. Alex, the manager the problem with the auto having the same symptoms and no AC just like it was doing when I came to the shop and prior to being charged $183.16. He said, "Too bad, you do not get your money back and we are not making corrections, we did a diagnostic and you paid for a diagnostic." I called again and tried to explain that this was not a diagnostic as I still did not know what was wrong with the AC and it was just the same as it was prior to your shop. Again, Mr. Alex said, " Too Bad." This is not only unimaginable, it is fraud and illegal to hold out a "Diagnostic" and never give a diagnosis! I experienced deceptive trade practices and fraud. I am reporting to Better Business Bureau, Attorney General of Texas and filing a law suit for treble damages due to fraud. Never Never Never Never Never go to this fraudulent repair shop. The last time I was here the guys recommended getting my brakes flushed, and after looking around the internet to establish that was a real thing, and since my car just hit 60,000 miles with the brakes having never been flushed at all, I decided to go ahead and let them go at it. While I was there I also wanted them to check my brake pads. I'm pretty car-illiterate so when my brakes started squeaking on the regular (but only first thing in the morning) I was a little freaked and convinced I needed new brake pads. Perfect situation to be in if you really want to get taken advantage of, I think. Not here! My attendant checked the brake pads and said they were in great condition, and even showed me how to check them, too! He said, "Oh no way, I wouldn't change those." Which really, really comforted me for some reason. He could've easily said, "yeah, your brake pads DO need changing - show me the money!" And I would've believed him. But he reassured me instead and now I won't take my car anywhere else. He also explained the brakes are probably just getting super dew-y in the morning and that's why they squeak. Trustworthy AND knowledgeable? Come on, what else do you need? Oh, and P.S., if you go on Saturday and there's a bit of a line and you don't want to wait in the waiting area, the White Rock Local Market might be set up at the St. Vincent's down the road, within walking distance! I ended up with a pair of handmade earrings and some empanadas from Empanada Armada, and when I got back to Kwik Kar they were finishing up my maintenance! read more

I went in for an oil change for a 2015 VW Jetta. I was able to be serviced right away and everyone there was super kind! My car is European so it needs full synthetic oil, which is always a little pricey, so I sometimes get worried about additional fees or unsolicited repairs when getting the oil changed, but the mechanics were consummate professionals and checked out my tire pressure and air filter for no extra cost. I will definitely be going back to this location for future oil changes. read more

You get what you pay for. That's true in many things in life, and also at this Kwik Kar location by White Rock lake. The first thing that you notice when you walk in is the cleanliness of the shop. It shows that the management an workers here take pride in their shop, and their profession. I've been here twice. Both times for oil changes, and the second time also due to a check engine light. The oil changes were a bit more than you would pay at a 5 minute Oil Change place, but I can sit and literally watch them work on the car from the waiting area. I watched them do a good job. They changed it exactly how I would do it if I had jacks and blocks in my own garage. The check engine light came on 1 day before a road trip to Fla. Great. Tyler was very knowledgeable, and said, "Let's just check it to see if it's critical since you're in a time crunch." The light turned out to be a minor sensor in the fuel system, and we agreed that I could come back in after my trip. WOW! They genuinely worked with me and the honesty that they extended to me will keep me coming back for years. These guys know their shit. Come here if you care about your car or your safety. read more

Came here for an oil change and state inspection. Based on experiences at other places, I expected to be sitting here for a while. I came prepared with study materials and work to keep me busy. I had barely just begun when one of the guys told me they were done already! Complimentary water and wifi in the *clean* waiting room were greatly appreciated as well. We took our old 1997 Mercedes in for an inspection and the next day, the headlight knob appeared to be broken. When I took it in for them to look at, the manager, Charles was extremely caring and helpful. They replaced the failing knob for the next day and all is working great. Two stars for cleanliness and quick service. BUT I was charged $95 for a full synthetic oil change when I expected about $45 charge, conventional oil. I certainly did NOT request or even NEED synthetic oil. I have never ordered "Full Synthetic" oil change at Kwik Kar or any other provider for my little Honda Fit. Why would I pay twice the price of an oil change to get synthetic when I have a 13 year old car and have NEVER used synthetic oil? No one told me I was getting the most expensive oil service possible. I am living on social security alone. Not only was the charge exorbitant, when I returned a couple days later to show them the prices of oil change at other providers, they refused to give me any discount or refund. Their sticker says I can come back in 3 months/3000 miles. Car and Driver says "Most synthetic oils are rated to last between 10,000 to 15,000 miles, or 6 months to a year." With synthetic oil, I will be going about 10,000 miles (will take me 3 years!!) before my next change, and NEVER to Kwik Kar at White Rock! read more

I've been taking my car here for nearly 10 years. It's independently owned (on the second ownership since I started using the spot) and I always feel like the guys are straightforward and honest with me. When you pull up, unless they are super duper slammed, someone immediately pops over to your vehicle to check you in. Once they check out my car, they let me know what is recommended for my vehicle "by the manufacturer's book" then tell me what actually needs to be done. If something can wait for more wear or many more miles to be addressed, they let me know that. Several times they've spotted something that is under warranty or felt prior work they've done should be tweaked and do work on those things at no charge. If you need a ride somewhere, they'll drop you off. If you need something explained further or have hesitation, they will discuss. If there is ever a question about a repair, they will work quickly to reassess and remedy any issues. Also, if you sit outside, you get a nice breeze from the lake. I have to say my overall experience was great! I was greeted right away when exiting my car. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Damon was the gentleman who helped me the morning I went in. Im afraid that both myself and my husband had a multiple bad experiences with these guys about 18 months agao, I never completed my review on here and was just prompted to do so ...so here goes. I would NEVER recommend anyone visit this establishment. They messed up the line on the transmission in his truck and then another time told him they had to pull radiator to fix the air conditioning!!! Realizing that this is completely ridiculous my Hubby left and fixed it himself. I had a very similar experience where they tacked on multiple unnecessary charges and didnt even fix the initial problem. They (If I remember rightly it was the owner) was then belligerent when I called to question. I had to take my car elsewhere and pay the same fees ALL OVER AGAIN!
