The young guy was a dismissive teenager "we don't have it" & another guy tried to convince me I didnt need it "I checked it & it runs fine so you don't need it." The manager Day was at least nice but offered to replace the wrong part.... He showed me on his phone that he would buy a new *skid* shield, which I showed him was still there - the *splash* shield was missing. I absolutely HATE doing car maintenance simply because I have never found a good oil change place, with friendly mechanics. Which makes me SO sad, because I love my car, so I want to take good care of it. Anyway, this place is a typical oil change place. Always trying to upsell you a filter or something you don't need. Always touching your car with their dirty hands. I sent my husband to get the oil in my car changed, which is a mistake I will not make again, because he does not speak up or ask enough questions as he is quite shy, and I think guys are sometimes scared to look like car fools in front of the "car guys." So my husband comes back complaining about the wait, how rude these people were to him, and how they were so insistent that my car needed premium synthetic oil (a $20 upsell), that they practically refused to put in regular motor oil. He called me about the synthetic vs. regular oil issue, and I said loudly (so that the employee standing by could hear me) "No, I DO NOT use synthetic oil. It has NEVER been put in the car, not even from the dealer." Apparently they were finally able to give my plain-Jane Toyota freaking Corolla an oil change, but they charged $43. My husband threw somewhat of a fit because on the service "menu" it said $29.99 -- even $29.99 to me is too expensive for their service. Regardless of the mini-fit my husband had, they still charged the $43 and the price difference is because my car required a "premium filter." I've heard that before, but usually the up charge is only $3. They tried to console him by saying there was a carwash included. He then asked them to remove the cost of the carwash and they said it was a packaged deal and they can't do that. At this point, it had been over and hour and they made my husband cranky, so he opted to not get the carwash immediately, and send me back to deal with these people and my carwash. Well, I go back today to redeem my carwash, and guess what? NO CAN DO! My carwash has expired -- it only lasts 30 days. Did they tell my husband that? NO. Did they write that on the reciept? NO. I told them this and I threw a MAJOR fit, and could they possibly even give me a carwash? NO. They just kept telling me "The carwashes are tied to the oil changes, so if we give you one, the count will be off." OH REALLY? You're telling me you employees don't take your cars to get free carwashes on occassion. I call BS on all of them. Terrible customer service. I will NEVER be back. read more

I had been putting off doing an oil change and getting my car washed for a while. Yeah, I know it's not too tough to do either, but I've been busy . . . or so I tell myself. Well, on my lunch hour at work today, I am driving down Tidwell with a coworker and see Pho Saigon, Kwik Kar, and Wet Zone Car Wash all right next to each other. I veer into this strip center and head to Kwik Kar. I drop my car off with Kendrick, go enjoy a bowl of pho and free wifi, and return 45 minutes later, with my car ready to go. When I return, my invoice gets rung up quickly, with no surprises. $34.99 + $2.50 for shop supplies + tax comes to $39.80. My car didn't need a special filter which would have cost a bit more. Perusing the receipt, I verify that they used the 5W-20 that is recommended in the owner's manual and then see a numeric code. Yup, it's for a free car wash next door! I did have to reset my oil change light myself, but no big deal. The waiting lounge is small but clean and stocked with magazines. They also have a Keurig coffee maker and Green Mountain coffee k-cups. Lunch, oil change, and car wash all during my lunch break. Sweet! By the way, the nearby restaurants within a minute's walk of Kwik Kar (without having to cross a street) are Pho Saigon, Hollywood Deli, Cici's, Sonic, and Taco Bell. So convenient. The question now is whether I will ever do my own oil change again. read more

Customer service is ok (as in friendly and quick). However, red flags on hidden charges - wiper blade when doing state inspection. I read one review about that scam (even if they were in good condition they'll tell you they are brittle and since it's safety related they replacement). They of course overcharge you the parts. Since you don't want to fail the test for something so simple or low-cost, you and up excepting it. They know it, and they'll do it. read more

Been coming here for years. Changed management not long ago and I've noticed a decline in moral at this place. Last time gave them purchase order they wrote down wrong I'm guessing the voided bill. When called to make it right it still didn't get fixed. Today gave them list of lease companies request during service and the team didn't do half of what was requested and took upon themselves to change wipers and air filter. Noted air pressure was checked and it wasn't. When I asked where old parts were they'd conveniently been thrown out in the less than five minutes I was given vehicle back. Never before have I had so much oil on door interior door handle and steering wheel. Yes the truck is dirty but there's no sense in driving a vehicle with oil and leaving it for me to clean. Went to get my inspection during lunch and they tried to charge me $12.99 x 2 for windshield wipers stating that they would have to fail me because one was damaged.... nothing was wrong with it when I arrived. Shame that they tear people's wipers to get extra money. When I called him out on it he said "I'll do you a favor and pass you" WTF... shady place. Went to get an oil change and another guy had told other customers in the store that they should look online for a coupon, after they had bought a "Groupon" deal, the assistant manager went on to say they didn't take coupons from Groupon. They were very upset (as I would be too!) Even though the Groupon was clearly for that location. Prior to that, the assistant manager was pushy to sell me on other things were overpriced trying to meet their quota probably. I will have to admit I do not have my "man card" for fixing vehicles -- I'm a total idiot. This is why I leave it to the "experts" to maintain my car. I know to bring it in right around the 3000 mile mark for an oil change so I do. I also know bringing to a dealer is a bad idea as they are going to charge you out the wazoo for parts and labor. Not here -- They changed my oil, flushed the engine, flushed the power steering fluid and changed my wipers, all for just about $200. Seems expensive, but its not, considering it would been over $400 at a dealer, not to mention I was in and out of the place in 30 minutes! They are very professional, clean your carpets, top off fluids, check your tires, air filter, everything. I cant ask for any better service than that. 5 stars all around! read more

I am very disappointed with this place. I went in for a standard oil change and was prepared to have a few other fluids flushed since my car was making a funny noise. I was correct I needed an oil change and power steering fluid flushed. They were quick and had me on my way in about 30 minutes. The next morning my car was making even more noise! I had to be in Austin that day so just ignored the noise and went on my way, with every intent to figure what was wrong with my car. Turns out they had not properly flushed the power steering fluid. I ended up having to add about half a bottle more to my car to get it to appropriate levels. About a month later I had to take my car in since it was leaking a mystery fluid and after the technician looked over my car they also discovered the oil filter had not been properly secured. They informed me that the last person to have changed the oil didn't do a good job. Surprise, surprise......( I am not blaming Kwik Kar Lube for the mystery fluid, but it just so happens when the techs gave the car a complete look over they discovered the problem with the oil filter.) If you mess something up as basic as a fluid flush and oil change you dont need to be working on cars. I highly suggest finding a different place to get your car worked on. EFI is a little farther away but I find the men their to be honest and competent. read more

I called ahead, they recognized my vehicle right when I pulled up, they did a quick, routine check up. I returned a few minutes later after they sent me on my way to ensure I didn't need an oil change. They kindly checked again and walked me through simple maintenance notifications on my car. Never in my 55 years have I been threatened with a failure of inspection because of a wiper blade streaking on the side that I don't even look through. I've been going here for a few years now. The staff are always polite and have been keeping my F150 running smoothly. I'm told of warning signs ahead of time and we review the recommendations against the past visit records to see if these suggestions are warranted. I'm never given a hard sell which is greatly appreciated. For things that are broken or worn down I'm given the chance to look at the items before any work is done. Again no hard sell which keeps me coming here. During recent flooding where my truck was partially submerged, these folks gave the (now familiar) truck a review and offered suggestions for replace/repair while letting me know other items were OK. They have multiple locations which is convenient and the locations share a common database. This means all locations have a current status of my truck at all times. read more

I brought my car here the other day. It needed an oil change and inspection to name a few. I've had work done here in the past...and the other mechanic I had taken the car to was just a moron. Of epic proportions. But with the guys at Kwik Kar I not only felt at ease, but also valued. I was given an estimated time of when the work should be completed and the cost. What ended up happening is there was an accidental blown fuse. The part was being rushed over, I was not responsible for paying for the fuse. Shit happens. It's okay. The person rushed the wrong part over. A supervisor would be driving over to bring back the correct part. Despite the delay the Kwik Kar manager Lankford kept me abreast of the situation. He was great, even gave me my next oil change on the house for the inconvenience. I highly recommend these guys. read more

Great place. They were friendly and quick. They do try to upsell but if you say no they aren't so pushy. They do not seem to have an exact pricing schedule. Don't go there these guys are scammers, they tend to tight the oil filter cap in a way that nobody else but them can take it off so you keep going back to them. Who knows what other things they do. I tried to do the oil change at home but the oil filter was impossible to take it off so I called the manager in a good way and asked him to loosen the oil filter cap a bit (since they were the last ones who did the service) so i could do it by myself, but the manager instead blamed me and said that they "were not able to take it out" and said that the part was broken because of me, so he sends me to the dealer so they could replace the part. No stars deserved! Way to pushy is correct! Went to get a car inspection on my 2 year old car and they were recommending several changes. I declined all and was still forced to buy windshield wipers to pass my inspection. I told them I had just bought mine from the dealer a month earlier they insisted the water wasn't clearing fast enough and without streaks from my windshield. Ridiculous but I was going to be charged regardless for my inspection, so I had to buy them for $45. I was furious. I have been performing oil change on my car here for nearly 2 years now. Very short wait times when you go in the afternoon and experienced staff. They have also been doing preventive maintenance on my car and so far, I have not had any problems. I would highly recommend them to anyone with car trouble or oil changes. I went to these guys for years and I guess over time I just overlooked and made excuse's for the behavior and so called service. Truth be told I never got to just go in and get a Normal experience as a customer.They were always trying to hustle me . I would have to put a note on the dash to leave the in cabin air filter alone because when I verbally told them they could not stop the scam machine fast enough to tell the other guy not to trash my glove box and mangle my current filter so it looked like it was needing replacing. The other issue (and more of a main one) is the "quality " of oil.......... if you can call it that I after 150 thousand needed to change my valve cover gasket and when I pulled offthe value cover the site was shame full. If you have ever used really crappy...recycled...cheap..dollar store oil before you'll know it when you see it in a motor...Well this was that kind of site...ooo and one last hustle they pulled on me. I went there for years and when you join up to their .... "Customer loyalty Program " ... your suppose to get your 4th oil change free!!!!. I NEVER got one...and I would ask every time and they would just say... " ooo you didn't get put in the system" . Don't go...don't be Patron to their type of service. So, I was greeted by an obviously hardworking technician almost as soon as I pulled into the lot. He told me that the oil change for my truck would be almost $50. No Problem. And then, I specifically told him, "can you be sure to ONLY CHANGE THE OIL? I don't want you guys to check, assess or inspect anything else. I only want you to touch the oil cap, oil filte and drain plug." How much more specific could I be. So, just to be sure, I stood outside for most of the oil change. As soon as I turned my back, apparently some other tech comes out to inform me that I need this, that and the other! I look back into the bay to see a vacuum hose hanging out of my truck!...No sweat. This happens EVERY TIME with these guys. I will just inform the manager upon checkout. As pissed as I was, I was extremely polite, "Now, I hope that you don't take it personally. because I'm assuming that it's not your fault, but, I specifically asked that no one go into my truck, etc., etc", to which this dude had the nerve to reply (mild paraphrasing here), Brandon- "Well that's part of the package. That's what we give you with the $xx.xx oil change." Me- " Dude, I didn't ask you for a discount, but I did specifically tell you guys what I wanted and didn't want done." This is the worst place I've ever been to. I took my car for an inspection they drove my car like it was a sports car. After waiting for 20-25 minutes a young guy said they couldn't finish because their machine couldn't read my car. I asked what was wrong he said he didn't know I asked him can you find out. He came back and said maybe a fuse he told me to take it to auto zone. I took it to auto zone they used their machine it read my car with no problems. Don't send a weak hubby and blame the shop. I have always found this shop's advice and service to be helpful. Sometimes I take the advice and sometimes do not. I find the management and workers to be friendly. And you know generally lube guys get low pay. Kwik Kar does not do car washes. They are given at nearby car wash. I don't have a ticket handy to view but I was told verbally it was good for 30 days. I was there just yesterday for oil change and the place was busy. Had my car serviced there yesterday. I have been at the shop several times in the past and would continue to use the service for certain types of work. Car lube, maintenance, and repair shops are always going to tell you what else you should have done. I heard some recommendations the service men suggested to others, and I did not hear any high pressure if the customer declined. You need to know something about your car's service history and say you'll think about it if something is recommended that you want to check on or get another opinion about. As one reviewer wrote it is nice that there are restaurants nearby if you need to wait. Also there is a shopping mall across the street. The shop's waiting area and lavatory are kept clean. Atmosphere is friendly. No complaints. read more

Terrible. These people try and take advantage of whoever will let them, if you are a woman beware! They try and act like your car needs all of these extra things (windshield wipers, oil flush) and will try to charge you a ridiculous amount but will claim they will do you a favor and knock 10% off the total price. I told them NO repeatedly over and over, I asked them if they could hold off until I spoke with my spouse, however they kept on going. They even had another guy come up during our conversation and say he found clumps in my oil. It took me 20 minutes just to leave and I felt VERY uncomfortable. I went to Payne's Automotive down the road, paid less than half of the price this place tried to charge, enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies in a very clean, professional, comfortable environment, and was then told my vehicle NEVER needed a flush in the first place. Kwik Kar is the typical auto shop that advertises its "kwik" services to change your car's oil... what they don't tell you is their mechanics are also QUICK to call you to one side to advise of other unexpected and expensive fluid-related maintenance repairs. On my second (and final) visit to Kwik Kar, I went for an oil change. I was told other fluids... power steering and transmission needed changing or topping off. A $35 bill would have had add-ons that would have totaled nearly $200. My instinct to refuse the offer of doing more than an oil change was accurate. I later went to a trusted mechanic who does the mechanical work on my cars. Guess what? NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE FLUID LEVELS OF MY CAR! Kwik Kar tried unsuccessfully to prey upon one's general anxiety and ignorance of how modern cars work. I told the owner of this Kwik Kar that I would not return...
