My wife and I enjoyed dinner at Kyma this past Friday night, October 20th, 2017. Parking appeared to be valet only for $2 plus tip. All good there. Reservations were for 8:15p, and we were seated right away. It was busy but not overly busy, and there were some open tables. Service started off very slow. We were concerned how this might go. But maybe our server was seated too many tables at first. She recovered nicely and as the meal went on, service proved to be more than adequate. They had stone crab claws on special. As a huge stone crab fan, and since the season just opened 5 days earlier, I could not resist even at $25 a claw. I just ordered one to share with my wife. It was served with Joe's sauce. If you are not familiar with Joe's sauce, it is a delicious mustard based sauce that is the traditional way to serve stone claws now. The claw was of good size, clearly never frozen, and cracked nicely. Delicious as fresh stone claws always are when served with a good Joe's sauce. We also ordered the lobster morsels. Omg were those good. Similar to the ones served at sister restaurant, Chops. They were simply amazing. Don't skip them. We then had the romaine salad. There was nothing wrong with it, but neither my wife nor I cared for it. Something about the dressing and/or cheese that we didn't care for. Lastly, we shared a white fish special with Greek potatoes. Both were very very good. Well prepared, flavorful but not overly rich or too fishy. Dinner, plus a cocktail and 2 9oz pours of wine was only $165. That is a more than a fair price for all that we got to taste. One of the best seafood restaurants in Atlanta I went here for a dinner with husband on Wednesday night. Place was busy but not bad. We took uber so didn't really have to worry about parking but if you are going to drive then they have a valet parking. Name of our server was Corey. Nice guy, good service. He was knowledgable about the menu and was able to answer any questions we had regarding the menu. We started with meze ( appetizer). First meze was mariades which is basically a fried smelt served with a garlic, potato puree. It was delicious! I would I've it 9/10. Second meze was grilled octopus. Although it's their famous dish I didn't like it as much as mariades. But I think that depends on a personal choice because my husband loved grilled octopus. I would still give it 9/10. Third appetizer was roasted oysters. Least favorite. I would give 3/10. Didn't like at all. Fourth meze was baby calamari served with quinoa. Loved it! Would give 9/10. Last meze was tomato salad. Really good. The cheese used in the salad is dodani feta, which is an authentic greek feta cheese with a smooth creamy texture and a unique taste. 9/10 for salad. ( some ppl might not like it but personally I just love salads). Then came our fresh fish- rare greek sargos(White Sea bream). Heavenly! Although I was full I did manage to eat a bit because it was so good. The fish came with some kale,I forgot what it's called but it was really tasty. For dessert we did kyma dessert tasting. We got to choose theee dessert samples - loukoumades, baklava with icecream and creamy rice pudding. Next time I would just order baklava with icecream. It was the best. Big birthdays mean a "big meal" in my opinion, something you can look back on and remember with a smile while you are trying to forget that number that's stuck in your head. For this "big" birthday Kyma was the destination, I'd been hearing about the octopus and fish for so long it was time to try it out. A birthday feast was in order and that is what I received. The staff was friendly from the start Prosecco was brought to the table and the bartender answered questions for us. After a bit of chatting and a second glass of "bubbles" we settled into our chairs as the food began to arrive at a nice steady pace starting with three of the spreads Tzatziki, Red pepper and Eggplant. Then the Octopus, Dolmes, Spanakopita and Prawns with tomato & feta we nodded with approval as each dish was set before us. All of the dishes were wonderful and the octopus well now I know why people talk about it, it is meaty and tender the grill gives the octopus a bit of a charred flavor. The fish course Royal Dorade was chosen then prepared ''chef's favorite way" with tomatoes, olive oil and white wine then baked. The entire fish is presented to you after it is cooked, when you are done admiring it is taken away and returned to your table ready to eat. Royal Dorade was new to me it is moist & quite tasty the sauce does not cover up the flavor of the fish it was served simply with tomatoes and sliced potatoes. Dessert - We decided to share the dessert sampler, "choose three of the first five" the Custard pie, baklava and a doughnut. Sorry I didn't get a picture of this we were to busy talking about it. Each dessert was about two bites which at this point was all we needed well that and the 20 year port. *The waitress (Ellena) had advice and made suggestions as did the manager that stopped by we took that advice and had a great meal. read more

i am visiting my family with my husband from NY. When we arrived we were told that we didn't meet the dress code as men were not allowed to wear shorts. This was not an issue when my son in law placed the reservation. Our sole option was to dine outside in uncomfortable humidity with no accommodations. Deeply offended about the taking a 20 minute uber to this restaurant to find out about a dress code that is literally non existent on the website, yelp, and open table. i would give negative stars for ruining our plans and horrible customer service. Has fallen into the if it isn't broke don't fix it category and unfortunately, they fixed a couple of things that I didn't think were broken. The dinner almost got off to a bad start as we pulled up to the valet ($2 and does not include the tip) and the guy at the valet stand, never walked towards our car full of three women, nor once I exited the car, did he greet me or offer any assistance. I've been here at least six times in the last three years and this was the first time the valet, did not approach the car or open the door for the women in the car. My daughter and mother exited the car and he still didn't look up or greet us, by this time another valet, walks up to the stand and they begin having a personal conversation among themselves, until I finally say...excuse me, we would like to valet the car. The first guy looks up at me like I hadn't been standing there looking at him for the last minute or so. He mumbles an insincere apology and when I asked him what did he think we were standing there for, or pulled the car into this area and then proceed to exit the vehicle for? He mumbled something under his breath and went towards the driver side of the car. I let him know, by no means was his level of service acceptable and I'm sure there is a procedure he is to follow, and that he had indeed had the "right one". I let him know not only would I be reviewing his service, but would also notify the valet company. My mother and daughter pleaded with me not to cuss him into another universe, and I complied and went into the restaurant. We always sit on the patio, as I find it less formal than the dining room and we don't have to worry about speaking in hushed tones an entire meal. I forgot our servers name, but she was friendly and came back to check on us an appropriate number of times. I can't recall what she said the specials were, because I'd made up my mind what I wanted before we got to the restaurant. We started with the tzatziki which is a cucumber yogurt and dill spread. In the past, the spreads were served with pita bread, it is now served with a cracker-like flat bread, which I found very hard and not complimentary to the spread. When we asked if the pita bread was still available, we were quoted a price of $5. (if it aint broke, don't fix it), why would you charge a customer $5 for pita bread at a restaurant where the entrees range in price from $30-42 per person?? She accommodated us by bringing out four slices of sourdough loaf of bread, but honestly, the spreads are best with the pita bread. One of my favorite appetizers here is the Horiatiki tomato salad, It is still at $12, but less than half the size it was last summer. Last time we were here, we received a serving dish sized portion, this time it was smaller than a cereal bowl and we should have ordered two, since it was three of us sharing the dish and its a family favorite. (if it aint broke don't fix it). I can't understand the smaller portion size, its not like the cost of tomatoes, cucumbers or olives have skyrocketed in the last year. Another disappointment was the Mussels ($14), last time they we were here they were served, in shells with a white wine sauce and feta cheese. They are now served without the shells and you get way more of the sauce and feta cheese than you do the mussels. I don't think we had six mussels in total in the entire dish (again, if it aint broke, please don't fix it) My mom and daughter both went with the lamb chops ($32/each). It comes with 3 chops which are tenderly cooked and an order of Greek fries (basically round french fries) and an order of the tzatziki for dipping. I went with the Giant Prawns, which are more like medium, and you get five of them grilled in greek olive oil and capers. It comes with kale, but I was able to substitute it with spinach. It was delicious, but do you know how quickly you can eat 5 shrimp? ($30) My Philosopher martinis (cucumber martini) are now served with minced dill on top of the mixture, I requested that not be included and just to bring me some extra cucumbers, those have gone up in price also, from $11 to $13. I had four. LOL. Overall, it was a nice of a visit as we normally have, and maybe it was my altercation with the valet driver at the beginning, but it seemed as if it has lost its appeal for me. Maybe another visit before summer is over will be the final test. As we left and got back to the valet stand, the first guy was no longer there, but the second guy who had witness my dissatisfaction with his co-worker, promptly retrieved our car, apologized for the first guy and told us not not worry about the two fee, my daughter insisted he take the two dollars and I was fine with that as I made up my mind that there was not going to be a tip given. read more

I love summer Buckhead Dine around cards, and our first card for June was for probably my favorite of the Buckhead Life Group Restaurants, Kyma! Kyma is a Greek restaurant serving mostly seafood, lamb, tzatziki and other Greek specialties. I love it, because it's one of the few restaurants I can go to and still eat delicious food on my diet. This was probably our 4th or 5th time and we always enjoy our dinners here, although the bill always seems a little higher than I expect for some reason. I did try for the first time a cucumber martini at the bar while we waited for our table, and if that isn't the most refreshing drink ever, I don't know what is. I ended up having 3 of them over dinner they were so good (photo included). For our small plates we got the potato spread to start, and then the grilled octopus (our favorite thing at Kyma), braised greens (Kale, Yum), the lamb shank, dolomades (grape leaves wrapped around rice), and special heirloom tomato salad. The grilled octopus and the heirloom tomato salad were my favorites by far! The roasted lamb and potato spread were also very good. I thought the dolomades were just okay, but my husband devoured them. We split the Banana Kantaifi for dessert and it was also very good. We don't really venture into Buckhead that much for dinner, as it's out of the way for me and it's not necessarily my scene. But Kyma is one of the few restaurants I'll make an exception for. It's probably my favorite Greek restaurant in town, and there are so many healthy options I don't have to feel guilty afterward! read more

I loved Kyma and plan to go back. We were six. We shared a huge number of appetizers. My faves were the little fried fish. Can't remember the Greek name but they are basically smelts but way better. And the grilled octopus and the lamb pie. For the main course I shared a grilled fish with one of my dinner companions. It was perfectly prepared. I mean perfect. Tasty, flaky, wonderful. It came with the head on but the spine and bones removed. Accompanied by kale, which was fine (and trendy) but nothing special. And we shared a huge number of desserts. I'm not a dessert guy, but I really liked the ice cream with pistachios that accompanied one of the desserts. Manny, our server, did a great job. Cuban, not Greek. Be aware of two things. Kyma is very expensive. There was a backlog at the valet parking at the end of the evening. (You can park your own car on the back side of the building. I wish I had known.) read more

LOVE this place! I loved everything - the decor, excellent service, and delicious food. The ambience and noise level was just right. My favorite things, out of everything we ordered, were the drink called "Larissa" and the grilled octopus. But I actually would recommend just about everything we ordered! The only dish that I was disappointed with was the Giant Prawns - those shrimps were nowhere near "giant" The next time I come back I'm definitely having like 5 orders of the grilled octopus! I arrived on time for 7pm outdoor seating. Outdoor was open with only one couple seated but we had to wait for our table to be made ready. We sat at the bar waiting while a rude bar staff kept reminding us that two seats at the bar were reserved. Once seated outdoors the cushions were wet from the rain, I asked for another seat, the hostess attempted to flip the cushions over and they were still wet. I went to the hostess stand to ask to be moved inside but there was no one there so I asked miss rude barstaff and she told me to tell the hostess I POINTED THAT IT WAS EMPTY! By 7:30 we were lingering around the bar watching people get seated and the "reserved" spot still empty (don't they only have a 10min wait). The manager shows up and is apologetic but has no resolution. By 8p we were finally seated our waitstaff Andrew was awesome with recommendations and service and the manager comped our drinks for the inconvenience. read more

I have one negative thing to say, YOU'RE NOT LOCATED IN SAN DIEGO, damn Kyma for being so far away. I have begged and pleaded with any California restaurant owner I have met to open an Ouzeri in our area and Kyma heard my pleas and opened in Atlanta. An Ouzeri in Greece is a "tapas" bar that serves Ouzo with your small plates, and Kyma has over 5 types of Ouzo to pick from. They even had one from Mytilini, which in my estimation has THE BEST OUZO in Greece. So we had excellent Ouzo and fabulous small plates, in fact we ordered too much and had to take things back to our hotel with us. The service is exceptional here as is the food. I absolutely stress that you must order the grilled octopus and the spicy lamb pie, they are to die for. Everything we had was excellent and I look forward to coming back to Atlanta just so that we can go back to Kyma. read more

Let's get the fried octopus out of the way, first. With all of the rave reviews, of course I had to try it, and I don't even like octopus. It was fine, taste like chicken (just kidding, it was as advertised. awesome). This was an early birthday dinner for yours truly. We splurged on the whole Fish dinner. We chose the Atlantic char. The appetizers of Greek spreads-authentic and creative. Salad and eggplant were nicely prepared. The fish was nicely grilled. Wine list was good, and very reasonable. My husband and I decided to celebrate our anniversary dinner here. After valet parking we were warmly welcomed and seated. Our waiter took some commerative pictures of our special night which we appreciated. The two of us wanted to share the sea bass. After reading reviews that the fish came with the head and tail on I politely asked if they could be removed. Our waiter told us yes and we could have the filet portion. They had a special appetizer that night which was soft shelled crab that came with cabbage.slaw. It was so good you could eat the whole thing. We were also served bread with olive oil dip prior to our main course. We were shown the fish up front that is flown in daily and what is used to prepare the dishes. They even identified some of them for us. Our Greek bass was served as we requested so we split it and had a side of kale to go with it. The bass was delicious except while eating I hit two fish bones, one a bit large. I brought this matter to our waiter's attention. He brought the manager over who offered to make us another one but to expect an occasional bone or two. They would do their best to skin it. As an apology they gave us a Greek salad on the house. We got fresh dishes and utensils when our 2nd bass came out. This one was completely boneless and we throughly loved it. They brought out the dessert menu but we were too full from eating nearly two of the bass so we declined. As a surprise they brought out delicious baklava and pistachio ice cream with nuts as an anniversary dessert. It was just enough we could handle and this baklava was excellent. I am grateful for the staff of Kaya who made things right for us. My true rating would be 4 1/2. Would definitely recommend if you want a Greek Mediterranean dinner. read more

The location is right in Buckhead, and there is valet parking. We had reservations and were seated inside (vs outside dining option), and there is a very classy ambience to the restaurant. Our server was great until he disappeared after our entrees came out. We had to wait 30 minutes for him to come back so we could order our dessert. The food overall was great but not amazing.. but the ambience was nice and the service was very good. I would go back for another date night. read more

Went to Kyma on Sunday night for their special price appetizer night, where the appetizers start at $7 and go up to $12. After walking into Kyma I was impressed that they had some live music going on and the place just smelled delicious. We sat the bar where the bartender was very friendly and served us well. We ordered the grilled octopus, grape leaves, beef moussaka, and spanakopitas. The grilled octopus was certainly the best of the 4 appetizers served mixed with a pickled red onion salad for $12. The only downside I see to Kyma is the $2 valet parking. I don't care for valet at all, but if a restaurant has valet I think it should be complimentary. This is certainly a great place to visit on Sunday night and order a few appetizers and have a few drinks. read more

This is definitely a restaurant that had distinct good qualities and distinct bad qualities for me. I'll start with the bad so I can end on a good note. I had a reservation for 9 people at 8pm. Three of our party arrived a little early and waited at the bar, when the rest of our party arrived we were to be taken to our table. However, several members of the group were underdressed and we were told our party would have to be seated on the patio. On a warmer night this might have been our choice anyway, but it was a bit chilly. We were from out of state, RI, VA, and CO and had I known other places in the area we would have left, but we didn't. Next, the appetizers were TINY and besides the octopus not so great. Lastly, drinks were overpriced. Now for the good... Our server (and I'm sorry I did not get his name) was phenomenal! Among the best I've had. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and helpful to each person ordering. He was friendly and professional and truly made it a good experience. He is the only reason I am giving this restaurant 3 stars instead of 2. The desserts especially the loukoumades (Greek donuts) in honey were to die for. Would I come back again? No. read more

Before dining at Kyma, my boyfriend and I had no idea about Greek food. All I knew is that olives are pretty much the key essential item in Greece. Then one day, my sister bragged about how she went over to her Greek friend's house and had all kinds of delicious food. I got jealous, so I dragged my boyfriend to Kyma, the only Greek restaurant I know of in Atlanta. Sadly and stupidly, I forgot to make a reservation, so we ended up waiting for 30 minutes. While waiting, we were just staring at the cars outside of restaurant. It felt like I came to a motor-show. I secretly thought, "Judging by the cars that are pulling up, this restaurant must be really really good!" And it was. My 30 minute wait was totally worth my time. Since it was our first time having Greek food, we wanted to taste little bit of everything. So we chose to do Mezes Tasting. We ordered Saganaki, Spanakopita, Kefte, Avgolemono, and Romaine Lettuce Salad. Greek spreads are complimentary with Mezes Tasting. We enjoyed everything but the Avgolemono and salad. They were simply too tangy and sour. We do love trying new and different things, but this was just too much. For dessert, we ordered traditional Greek cookies. They were all delicious, but not as unique as I thought they would be. I would definitely go back to Kyma to dine again. It's a lovely restaurant and heavenly food. But I am going to make a reservation this time, so I wouldn't have to stare at other people eating while I'm waiting for a dear table! read more

TL;DR - Good seafood. When ordering cocktails, ask Andre to make. Came for some small bites and drinks with wife and one other couple late night. I usually come to Kyma for seafood; especially their grilled octopus. If no one told you it was an octopus and you had it with blindfolds on, you would think it is a very tender and juicy chicken sausage. This night we ordered grilled octopus, prawns, and told Andre the bartender to surprise with us with four cocktails of his choice. As per food, prawns were on point but sadly octopus was disappointing this time. It wasn't made hot. It was lukewarm and lacked the char that would give out flavor of the flame. As per alcohol, wow, Andre literally created an art with his drinks. He brought out four cocktails and each were individuality crafted with distinct characteristics per drink. Kyma is probably my absolute favorite restaurant in Atlanta. The food is so fresh and impeccable, it's hard to describe. Don't just order an entree... go all out by ordering the mezze dinner. You get a variety of tastes and get to share a whole fish. Their seafood is the highlight of the experience - the fish is so fresh you'd swear they were next to the ocean. Don't miss out on the wood grilled octopus - to die for! Don't skip dessert - you must try the authentic yogurt and honey. That is way too much at any restaurant even in New York let alone Atlanta. The restaurant decor was nice. Since we were the first ones there, they quickly sat us at our table and brought out a warm loaf of olive bread.. Probably the best thing I ate that night. I really can't remember what I ordered, it was not that memorable. Portion sizes were a bit on the smaller side considering the price. First of all, I know it's a high end fine dinning place, people come here for dating or business dinner. But the review is for Buckhead Restaurant Week (BRW 4.16-23 2016) only. I would give the service 4.5 stars and the BRW menu 3.5 stars. It's a $35 per person pre-set menu. We had a group of 4. Here we start: I. Starters: The menu is a bit confusing, since for Meze(appetizer) it says "select two per table" So we had the Seafood Fritters (4 piece 1.5inches seafood meat balls, 8 out of 10, it make sense since one piece per person) and Cheese "Kataifi" (in a 4 inches Cream Brulee plate, 7/10, the crispy filo topping is amazing, and the melting cheese with mushroom are good, but the bottom part is a bit too oily for us) but I'm thinking, huh, for table of two or even one, the plate gonna be the same? I bit too small for group of 4 sharing. II. Entree A. The wood grilled whole fish (for two ppl) we chose the Tsipoura(Gilt-head bream) 9/10, the best one. No doubt Kyma is good at seafood; B. Lemon chicken, 4 pieces (2 dark meat, 2 white ones) the first one came kinda salty for all of us, and the waitress immediately offered making a new dish -- it was way much better, some sauce & sides came in separated tiny dishes for the 2nd one. 7/10; C. Lamb Chops, 2 pieces. with Tzatziki sauce, the sauce is really good, I guess that's why we can even buy bottles from Kyma 7/10 III. Dessert A taste of 3 different ones, in a lovely small portion: 1. Bakiava, the pistachio ice cream, this is my favorite, 9/10 2. Calactobureko, tiny tart with vanilla ice cream on top (a little disappointed there's no vanilla beens in it), 7/10 3. Little Greek donuts, it is cute, like one bite donut, who doesn't like it? 8/10 Our group are 2 gals + 2 guys, all average Asian size, we will 80% full after the dishes. We know this is a nice place more for experience and the seafood freshness. The reason for 3.5, is that Kyma played a safe card, without any surprises for potential costumers like us. I think any eatery owner should take this sorta of "restaurant week" as an opportunity: either create something new for RW menu only or put all the best selling items on it. Kyma just offered one seafood choice -- grilled fish only, so.... We will still come back for more other options, would check out the seafood for sure. read more

They get two stars for the food, and atmosphere but it ends there. It started out fine. The waitress was very friendly and gave us lots of advice but the good service ended there. We got our wine and appetizers on the slow side but have seen worse. Then what was probably 45 min passed and what appeared to be two entrees came out. My husband thought that one was the fish that he ordered. It didn't look like a whole fish but he didn't think that it looked like my chicken even though apparently it was half of my meal. We did not request splitting. They also brought out fingerlings instead of the fries the fingerlings were nothing special too lemony. But we told them never mind: when my husband was almost done with the half of my meal that they gave him the fish appeared, unfortunately I don't eat fish nor did they assume that I did: we told the now inattentive waitress about the fries and the split meal and she promised to take off the fries. I thought that it was the least she could do considering. Much later she asked if we wanted anything else we requested our check. A long time passed others paid their checks: she attended to other tables while we just sat there. She passed by and I requested it again. I heard her talking to other staff. I asked again and she claimed the computer was down but then ran to the bar and got it. It still had the fries on it, she took it again and disappeared. We heard her talking again to coworkers but no check. Finally another waitress brought it. In the meantime I asked the hostess to send over the manager: he never same. The waitress came and took our card I told her that we wanted the manager she disappeared and laughed in back for a while again. I went to the hostess who was snacking and asked once again for the manager: she said he was on the way. It had already been a long time. He finally came and comped our check and gave us his card. He said that he was just told and at least did not make excuses which is why I spared them 1 star. read more

You have to get the octopus to start off with. I'm not a huge octopus person, but this will change your life! Fried lobster was delicious. I got the Lobster pasta. They will actually bring it out to you before they bring it along with the pasta. I swear I am not high maintenance. But this is a great place for dinner especially with friends. This place is fantastic! The service is great, the food is phenomenal, and they have a good variety of wines and drinks available. I began my experience at kyma at the bar, while waiting for my friends to arrive. The bartender was really nice and helpful. She explained the taste profiles of various cocktails to me and I eventually settled on the Pandoras Box. It was delicious, the lychee flavor came through, but not too much and it balanced out the tart grapefruit. Once my friends and I had been seated at the table we decided to order a bottle of wine. The waitress really knew her stuff when it came to describing the various Greeks vinos they offered. She even brought us out samples of four different wines to help us choose. To begin each table receives bread and olive oil, both delicious and of a high quality. We then received an amuse of three spreads: htipiti (roasted red pepper), tzatziki and melitzanosalata (eggplant caviar). The first and the last were rich in flavor, and absolutely delicious. The tzatziki spread was refreshing but the other two definitely stood out more. These spreads are served with lovely warm and soft pita bread. We then split three small meze. The first to arrive were the zucchini fritters. They were not at all what I was expecting, they were so much better! The fritters were crisp outside and soft inside with a filling of blended zucchini and feta cheese. The calamari arrived next, and this dish was similarly good. Also the calamari portion was pretty large for an appetizer which was nice. Finally the last meze was the ahi tuna. I have never had tuna this good before. There was a lovely smokey taste to the fish, and the pickled ramps that accompany it were the perfect compliment! Four our mains I had the lamb two ways; braised and seared on a bed of tomato orzo. The seared lamb was some of the best I have ever tasted. It was crispy outside and juicy inside. The braised lamb was also very good but the seared was much better. The tomato orzo was very tasty. There was also some creamy cheese buried at the bottom of the dish, so it was a nice surprise to break through and mix it into the tomato sauce for a richer taste. My friends ordered a whole fish (royal dorade) to split which came with quinoa. I tried their fish and it was amazing, so fresh and clean tasting! The fish comes drizzled with olive oil, lemon and capers so it is a really nice, light dish perfect for a summer night. I thought the quinoa cooked with grape leaves was quite tasty, but nothing special in comparison to everything else I'd tried that evening. Finally we finished our meal with the dessert platter. We chose the baklava (with pistachio ice cream), custard pie (with cinnamon ice cream) and the loukoumades (Greek doughnuts). The loukoumades had to be my favorite; it was soft, and not greasy, soaked in delicious honey. The other two desserts were both very, very good too. The custard pie was amazing and the baklava had a kick of cinnamon which was yummy. It was my friends birthday so the kitchen wrote happy birthday on the dish and gave us the dessert for free which was very nice of them! Ultimately as I said above, fantastic food, fabulous service and great drinks. Kyma is a must try! read more

Get ready to spend that paycheck here! Very very pricey but also very very fresh fish that's superb quality! This is one of the few places (with the exception of Chinese restaurants) that serve whole fish with the bones and head and eyeballs and all haha. You can also order fish without the bone, but what would be the fun in that?? For an appetizer, we ordered the octopus... very delicious and comes in big chunks without the tentacles. For those of you that are scared to try octupus, don't be, it basically just tastes like chicken :P For entrees, we ordered the lamb shank (I'm not usually a huge fan of lamb but this was seasoned just right so it wasn't too gamey) and whole branzino (SO tender and yummy but be careful of the tiny bones!! Also very very pricey). The atmosphere is romantic and very nice/fancy, perfect for a special date night or a business dinner. Parking is valet only, and service is great! read more

Where do I begin! LOL I went with a big group of friends. The menu is so so so confusing to say the least. I thought it was just me, it turned out all of us, except the one person who had been there before, were confused by the menu. It is a bunch of mumbo jumbo wording, nothing stands out at you. I literally had the waiter pick an entree out for me. When we asked for the dessert menu... SAME THING!!! Nothing stood out, I had the waiter literally go through each item for me. The restaurant is really nice and the staff is friendly. It's definitely an older crowd type of place. The food is good, but extremely expensive, not worth the price. From start to finish it was an amazing experience. Food: We had the tasting menu and fresh fish selection. Our 3 tasting menu options were the sweet breads, octopus, and spicy lamb pie. Sweet breads and octopus were some of the best we have ever had. The lamb pie was not at all overrated and I can see how that was the dish that beat Bobby Flay. We also had the pink snapper and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Dessert was also wonderful. Drinks: We had the Morpheus and it was sweet, floral, and delicious. 10/10 recommend. The food was impeccable. My beau and I dined here on a Sunday for his bday. He ordered the Morpheus cocktail and I ordered a bottle of Rosé. Both were very tasty. We started with the oysters for an appetizer. The oysters tasted a little fishy and were mediocre. However, the skatefish was soooo scrumptious along with the lobster pasta. One of my favorite restaurants in the city. Classic, romantic, and nice date night spot. The service is impeccable and the food is to match. The octopus is the best thing on the menu, and the best in the city. The pickled red onions make the dish. Slop up the sauce with the bread. The for the entree I always get the arctic char plate. I didn't even know this fish existed until Kyma and now I can't even eat basic salmon anymore. Char is my new go to. Make sure to save room for dessert because the Greek doughnuts are a must have. A full order comes with a lot so we usually get the sampler with baklava and another dessert. Perfect amount. read more

I love restaurant week! It lets me try out lots of different restaurants and lots of different dishes at a reasonable price. Sometimes it's a hit, sometimes it's a miss. In this case, it was a miss. I've been wanting to try Kyma for awhile and decided to go for BRW. For $35 I got to try 3 different appetizers, 1 entree and a dessert sampler. Since I went with 3 of my girlfriends, we were able to try all the different items offered on their $35 prix fixe menu. Appetizers: -Feta "Psiti"- It was kinda weird that this dish tasted exactly like pizza. Definitely unexpected from a block of baked cheese. -"Saganaki tou Posidona"(seafood stew)- I was not a fan of this dish. It just wasn't good. -Baby calamari-Good. The batter used was light and not overbearing. -Pork pies- My favorite app of the evening. I'm not a huge fan of pork but I actually liked this dish. -Santorini Greek salad- Meh. Too much dill was used. Entrees: -Wood grilled Lavraki- Meh. -Slow baked Atlantic salmon- I liked the risotto that came with the salmon. The salmon itself was just ok. -Sautéed skate fish- A little too salty for my liking. Dessert: -Orange sponge cake "Ravani"- the best dessert of the sample. It was simply divine. -Little donuts "Loukoumades"- It was too hard and overly sweet. I like sweet but this was way too sweet. -Hazlenut Baklava- The only thing I liked was the topping. Our server was kind but it seemed a little forced. There were definitely some awkward moments. Also, the service was extremely slow. We were seated at 7:15 but didn't finish dinner until close to 10. We made a reservation for a Wednesday night (for my birthday!) When we first entered the door (with a "proper dress required" sign), we were greeted by the site of a beautiful restaurant - think white, blue sea themes with tall columns. So far so good. We stroll up to the hostess stand... ... ...There are two people standing there, neither of whom acknowledge us so we stand there for a bit until someone else else walks up to the stand and seats us. Ok, a little annoying. The food and waiter (Niko) totally redeemed that though. I started off with a pomegranate vodka + pomegranate juice + other juice. Honestly it just kinda tasted juice - not the most "intricate" cocktail I've had but I mean, it was probably 2 parts juice anyways. We opted for the Meze and Whole Fish dinner which consists of the following yummy stuff: Three spread tasting - The boyfriend liked the roasted red pepper the most because it had a hint of spicy and was fully delicious. Direct quote. My favorite was the eggplant caviar because it was tangy but also had some substance, I had honestly forgotten it was eggplant until I read the menu again. The potato spread was good but overshadowed by the red pepper and eggplant spreads. The pita was so good that you could probably just eat it on its own. Prawn Saganaki - This is a dish with two large shrimp marinating in a tomato sauce of some sort. For the uncultured, like me, the sauce is reminiscent of marinara sauce but it is lighter and not nearly as salty (which is something Kyma does well - they apply salt very little it seems). Shrimp was probably the most tender I've ever had and they are already pre-cut so you don't look like a fool trying to get the tail off. Baby Calamari - We typically always get calamari as an appetizer at restaurants because we are suckers for fried squid with marinara. However this calamari was tender (are you beginning to see a pattern?) and lightly battered with a fluffy coating. A squeeze of lemon juice is all you need to really bring out the flavor of the calamari. Spicy Lamb Pie - The presentation on this dish is beautiful, the lamb is wrapped in a phyllo crust, wrapped around and topped with some greens. The focus of the dish is definitely the lamb which is appreciated because the filo accentuates the lamb and wasn't too thick. Daily Special (Crab cake over quinoa) - They actually forgot to bring this out to us before the fish entree but we mentioned it to our waiter and they brought it out promptly. The quinoa was nutty and flavorful, although if I had to choose my least favorite, it would be this one. It was still very good but this one wowed me the least. I may have also just been really full... Royal Dorade - They serve the fish with a side of spinach & quinoa. At this point, my taste buds were too overloaded to be incredibly discerning so all i have to say is that this is definitely a chewier fish but also very flavorful. Since it was my birthday, they also comped a dessert of my choice which I thought was very nice of them and the chocolate lava cake paired very well with the cinnamon ice cream (surprising, because I don't really like cinnamon). Service - Oh my gosh the service was so good. The waiter gave really good food recommendations and also had extra amuse bouches/desserts sent out (so we could try more authentic Greek cuisine!) The courses were also timed perfectly, each empty dish would be whisked off the table whilst another meze came. Verdict - This is very very good seafood with excellent service. Bring your date here if you want to impress them (although the drinks may just be so-so). read more

I'll take away one star since they could have done a little bit of that extra special bit on the service side. However let's not take away anything from the food - had the grilled octopus, the spicy lamb pie and the Arctic char. The grilled octopus seemed very familiar from back home, the spicy lamb pie was just too good (still remember it's taste) but is heavy. The fish was ok, nothing to write home about. Came to Kyma to because they have 2 dishes on the Atlanta Convention and Visitor's Bureau - the Grilled Octopus and the Loukoumades. They happen to be the 65th and 66th ones that I've tried! We started with the Cheese Kataifi, which is kasseri cheese and wild mushrooms baked in shredded filo. Must order!!!! Holy crap its so good. It's almost too rich, there were two of us and we struggled to finish half of it. Also had the grilled octopus. Really damn good. I think the one at The Optimist is still my favorite over Kyma's, but only slightly. I had the Dover sole for my entree. They also had skate wing on the menu, and it reminded me of that from a texture perspective. It wasn't bad, but didn't particularly stand out. Closed out with a mini dessert tray consisting of Loukoumades, Baklava, and something I can't remember. Despite being on the ACVB Signature 100, the Loukoumades was just ok. We've been meaning to come here for years based on them being ranked as one of the best seafood restaurants in Atlanta. They did not disappoint on our visit. We tried a few apps and my favorite was the octopus with the mussels coming in second. I wasn't a fan of the roasted oysters but my husband liked them. We also tried the lamb chops and pork ribs and they were cooked to perfection. All of the spices and the fact that the meat was so tender made for a great tasty dinner.
