Wow--let's talk about this dining experience. The oxtail gumbo? My first time trying it, and definitely not my last. Every bite was rich, comforting, and fully satisfying. Lagarde was a highly anticipated restaurant for my friend and I and what better time to come during Mardi Gras when they have their themed menu? We were seated in the enclosed, outside area which was kind of a buzzkill because the inside seemed lively and those vibes were nonexistent in the quiet outside area. My friend was encouraging me to order the charred oysters as I've never had them before and we ordered a lot and they were pretty good! I ordered raw oysters to compare and enjoyed them twice as much. The drinks were solid as well. If you come here you want to stick to just that-- oysters and drinks. We ordered a few appetizers and they were all underwhelming in their own way. The whipped ricotta was unlike any other I've had before and the word that comes to mind is amateur? It just wasn't good. Came here for a festive night out near Christmas. 11/10 did not disappoint. The festive holiday cocktails were great - my server suggested either Dirty Santa or The Grinch. Both were delicious. The tuna nachos had a spicy kick to them but were good. The jambalaya was a large portion and was also good. We asked them to make our espresso martinis festive - and they added a candy cane and a festive stirrer. They had a nice wine list too. Our visit started off well. Our server Morgan was pleasant, and the brunch menu seemed to offer something for everyone. A good start went downhill quickly when one of our plates came out with hair in the butter. Our server apologized and took it back to the kitchen for it to be remade, which was fine. The bigger problem was that we weren't offered any type of compensation (a percentage off the entree that had hair, comped beverages, something). I'm not expecting a free meal or anything outrageous, but something for the inconvenience of having to wait while the kitchen remade the order would've gone a long way. I'm not sure if this falls on management for not empowering their employees to make these types of decisions, or if it was up to Morgan, and she didn't care to offer. This place was really nice and casual! They had outdoor dining and the doors open. Our sever was very nice and professional. Our food was brought out piping hot and delicious. I ordered the Salmon BLT with the Cajun tots and the Summer in Chamblee cocktail. Oh and the deviled eggs and Thai Fried as appetizers. The cocktail was incredibly refreshing and perfect for a warm afternoon! I didn't get andouille on the deviled eggs which I later regretted because I felt like they needed a little crunch. The Salmon BLT was tasty. Although I wish they didn't put such a thin piece of Salmon on it. The Cajun tater tots were cooked to perfection and absolutely amazing! Came here for my cousins birthday with a party of 8. My husband and I split the chicken wings and I got the chicken biscuit for my entree. Both were very tasty but something seems to have changed with the wings once last time we got them. Can't really tasty that it was grilled. I have only came here for dinner so coming here for brunch was definitely a different experience. I do feel like my food was okay. I started with oysters first and I felt like they did not taste as fresh as I usually would have them. They were still good though. when it came to the chicken and French toast, the French toast was amazing. I love French toast honestly and the chicken on top was good too, but the pickled peppers did not taste good on top of all of it. I tried to take them all off, but the flavor was just soaked in the chicken, so it gave it a sour taste. I did not like the peppers at all. I love the french fries though . Came here for a friend's bday. The service was ok where we had to wait for food and drinks and server disappeared after handing us our bill. Therent weren't many vevegetarian options so settled for a salad and fruits were very tart and did not go well with the orange dressing making it unedible. Unfortunately, server disappeared after handing the bill so tried to use their online pay option. Omg is this place under new management?? Because what our incident maybe be because of an off day but I feel so let down by a few people. First off I walk-in (1:27pm) and since it's a nice day, I ask to sit outside. I'm with my mother who uses a cane too. Well the only table was directly in the sun and I thought I was okay with it until it came full force and I was on fire. So, I went to the hostess desk to ask for another table and to inform them that a party was leaving and we'd like to move. She tells me to take it up with my server. Okay fine. After that we waited another 15 mins or so, then after they left I informed our waiter that they moved. We waited probably another 25 or so mins and were moved instead to an inside table and not the one we asked to move to. I guess so he didn't have to deal with us. I felt the service and blatant disregard for customers could be felt from everyone who saw me and my elderly mother sitting in the sun burning up for 40+mins. We were then moved inside where the new waitress who then (had to feel the brunt of the situation) took us. The only thing that made this experience better is because the woman server who took us noticed we were just sitting outside being ignored and she apologized on behalf of our dumb guy server with stupid dangly earring. I'm wondering was there no manager on duty either?? Because how did you not notice people just sitting with no food or drinks for so long?? I'm so embarrassed, I was hyping this place up. Also let me add, that the buser kept coming outside looking at the dirty table going back inside, I was confused if he was the actual buser. HOWEVER, once we were moved inside he bused every single table and picked up every little speck of trash wth???Anyway, over an hour after being here we got to order and some time after we got our food. We both ordered the pear salad (mom loved it), the salmon bites, and the Thai shrimp, both appetizers have shrunk in portion size since I got them last. I met a few girlfriends here for a birthday dinner. It was easy to make a reservation online on resy. I was lucky with parking, but there's also a lot where you can find parking. We were sat down when we arrived and they have a special menu and a regular menu. We got a sangria which was delicious and the gin drink I got was had a weird herby or anise taste and I just got a regular gin tonic which was fine. I enjoyed the wedge salad that we shared. The bacon was crunchy and blue cheese was not over powering. My girlfriends got a smashburger and also the chicken burger and both were tasty and I enjoyed the pan seared trout I got. They brought us the donut for desert with happy birthday written and the donut were bouncy and sweet. Overall, the meal was good. However, the booth I was sitting at kept getting bumped and moved the entire meal which was annoying. I paid with the QR code on the table which charges you $2.99. And the desert was not complimentary for a birthday and I wish they would have given us a choice. It was a nice place to try and we did have a nice time. YUM! I made a reservation for me and five friends for a Friday night around 6:45 for the dining room. I'm not from the area but saw some good reviews and wanted some good southern food while in GA. I'm so glad I found this place. When you first walk in, you immediately notice the neat painting on the wall with the bright colors and the beautiful light fixtures. It's also right next to a baseball field with some walking paths and beautiful trees so it's so lush and green and gorgeous. We ordered and were hopeful about the food. When things started coming out, we were so impressed by the size and quality of each dish. A lot of us are very foodie-minded and not only was each dish delicious, it was also plated so attractively. One person ordered the airline chicken and said it was one of the best chicken dishes ever. Another had the jambalaya and loved it. Two others had the steak and frites. I tried a bite of the steak and it was absolutely perfect and tender and flavored so well. My friend and I had the catfish po boy special sandwich. While I didn't need the fries, the catfish was some of the yummiest I've ever had and was so crunchy while also flakey and had a combination of flavors. Three of us also ordered oysters because...why not...when in Rome, right? I have had many oysters before since I've lived by the ocean my whole life and these were not only good but they were HUGE. I've honestly never seen them so big. But they were good. And it wasn't even oyster night where they are $1 each but they were like $2.75-3.50 each which was still great cost and since they were so big it felt like an even bigger deal. Our meal was expensive overall. And my only complaint would be that even though we were a party of six, they automatically added a 20% gratuity to the bill. Usually it's parties of 8...and usually it's 18%...and they even asked if we wanted to add an additional tip. Our service wasn't amazing but it was adequate and it'll do. So I just paid the bill and will still look back at the experience and remember it fondly. Her meal came with fries and completely salty fries. I ordered a mocktail.. every establishment I've been to and ordered a mocktail, these be some delicious drinks.. these drinks tasted like Raspberry Kool Aid. I ordered another one because I miss drinking Kool Aid lol. Naw it was horrible, my shrimp po boy was horrible and the bread was hard. Like stale hard. The other guest ordered one too and same results that's why I knew I wasn't crazy. One guest ordered fried okra that was on the menu and they informed him they don't have anymore. It seem like the kitchen didn't want to fulfill the order idk. I just thought that was weird. I didn't take any pictures of the food because when it's horrible I don't promote it. We decided to do brunch, and sat on the patio that overlooked a trail reminiscent of the beltline. In addition to the brunch menu, there was also specials listed to allow for many delicious sounding options. The B-day lady ordered a veggie omelette which allowed for customization of ingredients. I ordered the jambalaya which came with Sunnyside up eggs. As that was not my preference, I specifically asked for egg whites only. Prosecco and coffee were our beverages of choice. The food wait time was average for the number of people in the restaurant and the accommodation of our preferences. Unfortunately, my eggs were not cooked to specification; one was the advertised sunny side up and the other appeared to be fried. The jambalaya lacked the Cajun flavor accustomed to receiving in NOLA and a few other metro Atlanta restaurants. The manager discounted my meal with an apology for the egg debacle. The omelette was tasty and my friend enjoyed the fans installed on patio to keep the air circulating. I truly enjoyed the location and the decor per attached pictures. Location had ample parking and several other shops. Did not care for the order mixup or the wait staff throwing drinks that people left on the table into the area situated just beyond our tables. Started off the night with one of their Holiday Drinks called the Dirty Santa which includes eggnog. I would say the drink was a 10/10, along with the dirty hot chocolate. We did substitute the shot of liquor for Baileys. As for appetizers I got six oysters which were fresh and nice, they have them for 1.00 on Tuesdays. The next item I had was the deviled egg, they were okay as they were pretty cold and I prefer them room temp. It was topped with a piece of Fried chicken, I will give it a 7/10. Lastly for my Entree I had the Atlantic Salmon which was a 10/10, I just wished the sides were more especially for the price. I wanted to love the pumpkin cheesecake, but I didn't get the chance to try it because it came out with a hair stuck to it :( Now the new old fashioned was the star of the show. The happy hour specials are a great value for both the quality of the food and cocktails. We treated ourselves again to the happy hour specials and regular menu items. Tuesday is our favorite for the raw oyster specials of $1 per oyster. The oysters were fresh and had medium brine. We ordered the happy hour deviled eggs served with a fried shrimp and green goddess dressing, plus the seared scallops served over parsnips puree and corn succotash. We decided to travel from our northern suburbs to Brookhaven to try a new (at least new to us) place. We found Lagarde and decided to give it a try. This is a cool, hip spot, which seems to match the eat, play, live development it sits in. As you walk in, there is window that displays fresh oysters on ice with a display kitchen beyond it. That display prompted us to order some fresh and briny oysters from VA. They were served with local hot sauces, horseradish, saltines. mignonette, and cocktail sauce. We ordered crispy Brussels sprouts which came with a remoulade . They were fine, but not much different from the many other places serving the same thing. Is it just me or are Brussels sprouts becoming the hummus and pita of the 2020's? We also ordered the kale and arugula salad. It had apples, orange segments, craisins, pepitas, and quinoa (needed a microscope to see it) with an orange vinaigrette. I'm not sure there was any kale in our salad, and the vinaigrette was pretty harsh for it having orange in it. For entrees, we ordered the trout. They were out so a maple glazed salmon with roasted broccoli and very pedestrian smashed potatoes ( they really had no taste). We also got jambalaya with shrimp, andouille, and chicken. It was a nice portion and had a pretty authentic taste. But, it came out sort of lifeless, with no garnish or anything. For $19, we expected more. Lastly, we got the shrimp po'boy with tots. This has some sweet, fresh shrimp, some of the same remoulade, lettuce, tomato, and sweet pickles ( a nice surprise touch). I chose tots as my side, which were crispy, and seasoned with some sort of Cajun seasoning. They were addictive. The service was very present, cleared plates regularly, and we did not thirst for water. The food came pretty quickly as well. Ultimately, I feel this should be 3.5 stars and not the 4 as marked above. The prices are jacked up ( like everywhere), and there are some details getting missed (mashed potatoes and salad). We had a good Sunday brunch at Lagarde American Eatery in Chamblee. What printed on my receipt sums this place up: "American Cuisine with a New Orleans influence." One thing I like about Lagarde is you can book brunch reservations. I think it's always a plus if a restaurant offers brunch reservations so you don't have to wait. This place got pretty busy during our visit, but it didn't quite reach max capacity. The restaurant is in a cool-looking, modern, freestanding building in the Parkview on Peachtree development. Lagarde is from the same folks behind Il Giallo in Sandy Springs (https://bit.ly/43Yw6kY). This location, the original, opened in November 2019. A second location opened in Milton in January 2023. There's plenty of free parking on-site. Lagarde had a fun, casual, and relaxed vibe. There's a sizable wraparound bar and a variety of indoor and outdoor seating. They have both an uncovered outdoor patio (with umbrellas and string lighting) and a fully-enclosable patio. The indoor dining room has both table and booth seating. When we visited, there was live music outside. Fun elements include colorful wall graphics inside and a cow statue outside. Near the entrance is an oyster bar, part of the open kitchen. I love oysters and that was one thing that drew me to this place. Before our visit, I looked at Lagarde's menus online and was disappointed to see that raw oysters were only available on the dinner menu. However, at the restaurant, there was a daily specials menu (not online) that featured three kinds of raw oysters - a pleasant surprise. So, they did serve raw oysters at brunch. Here's most what four of us got: Daily Specials * Deviled Eggs ($9) - fried chicken with "Lagarde sauce" and house plain * Fresh raw oysters ' Blackberry x2 (VA, $2.75 each) - moderate brine, light finish ' Whitestone x6 (VA, $3.25 each) - mild salinity, clean mineral finish ' Smith Point x4 (WA, $3.00 each) - moderate brine, sweet finish Snacks * Short Rib Totchos ($10) - slow-braised short rib, BBQ sauce, Swiss cheese fondue, green onions Brunch * Salmon Benedict x2 ($18 each) - two salmon cakes (red and green peppers, onion, mayo), brunch potatoes, two poached eggs, Hollandaise * The Lagarde Plate ($13) - three eggs any style (sunny side up here), andouille sausage, tomato, and cheesy grits * Croque Madame ($14) - brioche, ham and cheese, Mornay sauce, sunny side egg, with brunch potatoes (cheesy grits also an option). Dessert * Bread Pudding ($9) - spicy caramel, and Oreo cookie crumbles and whipped cream Specialty Cocktails * Aviation ($10.50) - McQueen and the Violet Fog Gin, Luxardo Maraschino, creme de violette, lemon; chilled, up, maraschino cherry * Coffee x2 In general, the food was tasty. The Deviled Eggs came with five pieces. We ordered a "half and half" option where we got three with fried chicken with Lagarde sauce and two plain. I preferred the pieces with fried chicken with Lagarde sauce because they were tastier, but the plain was fine too. I'm not sure how to describe the Lagarde sauce other than it was a creamy, mildly-peppery, I think mayo-based sauce. The oysters were terrific. I didn't prefer one kind over another. I could barely tell the differences between them. What mattered was they all tasted fresh and scratched the itch. A couple oysters weren't shucked cleanly and had shell fragments. That's always annoying. Also, when the ice melted in my tray, my tray leaked water. The oysters came with cocktail sauce, mignonette, and lemon. We also asked for horseradish and hot sauce. The horseradish was nice and strong. We got three kinds of hot sauce, all local Samson's Bite Sauce Company brand: Ghost Pineapple, Mixed Chili, and Mango Habanero. The Short Rib Totchos (tater tot nachos) were excellent, my favorite. My tablemates and I disagreed on the consistency of the tots. I thought they were OK. Someone got a side of fries (not listed above). The texture of the fries was fantastic -- delectably crispy. The best thing about the Short Rib Totchos was the Swiss cheese fondue on top. It was really good. The Short Rib Totchos were on the regular brunch menu. We were also considering the Special Totchos on the daily specials menu. Those were made with Chicken Parmesan and mozzarella. The Salmon Benedict was good. The dish was well made, filling, and satisfying. The eggs were perfectly poached. The Bread Pudding was an ideal brunch dessert. It came with two giant dollops of whipped cream and Oreo cookie crumbles all over. The bread pudding itself had a wonderful texture and was rich and savory. I recommend it. Our table was too small to fit our order. I was rushed to finish the apps. Our server was Serena B.
