Overpriced and overrated, to describe in just a few words. This place had been recommended to me by a few people and it was very disappointing. So we ordered the pork sliders first, literally a piece of bread with a tiny piece of pork inside and they went way overboard on the mint, it just tasted like straight mint. Then, we ordered the potato, just not good. Fried rice? Honestly terrible, it was so sweet and just hard to eat. The only reason I give it 2 stars rather than one is for the tuna tataki, that was the only dish that was good, not excellent but good. The portions were so tiny for the price paid for each dish. You're better off going to any other restaurant in wynwood where the food is the same price or less, for good food and bigger portions. read more

Prices high, portions small, food ok but comes out at very different times. The seats were uncomfortable and the service not very friendly. I had a potato cake and told the waiter it was too salty. They changed it for me but charged for the change! Probably the trendiest bar and restaurant in Wynwood. Pricey but you get quality for what you pay. Ambient is great, if you are not afraid of a noisy place. Restrooms are just two for everyone, so maybe the only thing I wished it was better. read more

Last weekend we visited KYU with another couple. We had a blast and met the head Chef, Raheem. He is not only a gentleman and a great chef, he is extremely hospitable and treated is to some of their delicious offerings. We will definitely be returning soon. Amazing food. We had the pork buns, octopus, beef tenderloin, beef short ribs and the Thai fried rice. I'm usually not a fan of sunny side eggs and this was delicious. The octopus and buns were perfect starters. Tenderloin and short ribs were to die for. I had the no way rose and chugged it. I loved the idea of all the components but the jasmine was so overpowering I thought I was drinking perfume. Service from our waiter was underwhelming with a blank stare on most encounters all while being felt rushed and just an overall displeasing demeanor. The support staff was amazing though. read more

This place was really the highlight of our Miami weekend. A NY friend who frequents Wynwood told us to come here, and he couldn't have been more on point. My husband is still talking about the short rib, and after a long debate we've decided it ties with our wedding short rib. The burrata was tasty, hamachi was good but an extremely small serving, and if you order one thing get the fried rice with crab. It was almost like a dessert; we were full already but still managed to polish it off. KYU is the perfect balance between amazing ambience, top of the line service, and a mouth- watering gastronomic experience. I was seated promptly. If you are going to think "let's find out this cool place in winwood, it has a lot of reputation and the photos are amazing" then you are going to be disappointed!!! The food is just really bad, the meat seems amazing on pictures but it is just the worst meat I have tasted in a restaurant, ever!!! Very low quality that chef is trying to hide using a AWFUL amount of fats...oils and god knows what. Everything is greasy and disgusting. The service is pathetic, slow and annoying. I had to speak with the manager twice to get my food and even then I just got 3 dishes out of 6 I ordered! It was just a very bad evening I could have spent somewhere else... Phenomenal. The cabbage appetizer was extremely good. The avocado salad was pretty good, but nothing too special. Our entrees were the beef tenderloins which were great, the snapper that was great and Korean fried chicken. All were very tasty, but the best part was definitely the s'mores desert! We came in last night after a baseball game restaurant was very busy even though they were running out of things which I understand the food and service was awesome from top to bottom we have the cauliflower Grouper and Burnt dark coconut cake is a must..... server very knowledgeable with a smile 11:15... Wow! Simply WOW! The is definitely a MUST. It has a NY feel with open kitchen which I love. I was there last night for dinner and even on a Monday it was happening. Definitely make reservations. Now..... the food!!!!! Wow!!!!!! Super delicious. We had the beef brisk, crab, crispy tuna cakes and the s'mores with dark chocolate WOW! I find it hard to give 5 stars since you never know what lies ahead, but not much less than 4.9 based on my visit. Nice layout with open kitchen. Server very friendly and knowledgeable about menu. Even runners explained dishes as they were delivered. Sliced hamachi with dill and mint and a ponzu- I dreamt about it last night. Korean fried chicken- wanted to order twice! Stone pot fried rice- my wife said stop saying omg! Bbq carrots were the weaker part but still outstanding. Kudos to whoever put this menu and concept in play. Maybe open a sister place up North? We were recommended this place through a guy in New York managing scotch and soda shops during our visit in the city. We told him we were heading to Miami and since he had lived here 5 years prior to moving to NYC he had some tips and KYU was one of them. We're so glad we got to experience this restaurant with it's cool vibe, good food and service. The place is really hip and modern with lots of noise. We began by ordering two cocktails, Ronins Revenge and a Mule. Both came out good and did the job ;-) . For starters we had the beef tartare and soft shell crabs in buns. The tartare was the only regret we had during our night, to bland for our taste. We've had some really good beef tartares in our days... the crabs were delicious and our first time ever having soft shells! For the main course we had the beef short rib to share and it was DELICIOUS. So tender and tasty meat, highly recommend this one if you're dining here! If you're in Miami you should head out to KYU for one night, you won't regret it. Cool place and neighborhood with good food and service. read more

KYU is a top 5 restaurant in South Florida if not THE top restaurant in South Florida. The food is spectacular. The experience lingers way after you leave making you crave an immediate return. The cocktails are phenomenal especially the "Pink Puppy". It is delicious. The food is wonderful from the mushrooms to the roasted cauliflower to the stone pot Fried rice with the king crab to the duck burnt ends! TRY THE DUCK BURNT ENDS! Everything on the menu is amazing. And for dessert the COCONUT CAKE aid my favorite dessert in the world. The actual restaurant is beautiful and the service is wonderful. I try to eat here as often as I can. The reason why the 3 stars is because this place is such a high price point. I had dinner at KYU last Tuesday night with my family. The Thai Fried Rice Stone Pot was awful. The rice was uncooked. We also ordered the Roasted Grouper which was served over a bed of white beans. I've lived in Miami for over 10 years and worked in Food and Beverage for 11. That being said I don't expect a whole lot when it comes to service- Miami is notorious for horrible F&B service. In my current line of work my dining and nightlife recommendations define my reputation and success so I am always judging and sadly to say this placed failed. The hostess was nice- I arrived with a friend on Saturday night for a drink she directed us to the bar. I asked to meet with a manger at some point to exchange information for work- the message was not passed along. The female bartender was polite but short with her answers. As being a bartender myself I inquired how her night was- she said not busy... yet she had no interest in reciprocating conversation. Cool- I've been in those moods. Then I asked her if i could again meet with a manager to exchange business cards, another male bartender interjected and said "yes I'll call him now" and no one ever came. Not worth it. same food as all other "Asian Inspiried" cuisines. Cool atmosphere but lack luster service. Head over to Gigi's or Sugarcane for similar cuisines with better service. read more

The best part about this restaurant.... well there are many many best parts. The food is very good and full of creativity and flavor. I had the peeled wheat salad and a sushi roll with mango in it. But. The best part for me was our server Jose. He is very talented and deserves to be recognized as the best part of my evening here. Service Is very important to the overall dining experience. Thank you Jose for your excellent attentiveness and wonderful recommendations of IPAS and for being a beacon of knowledge on the surrounding area.
