Such a fun dinner at Double Luck Chinese! The whole place has a really cool, intimate vibe and is perfect for ordering a bunch of things for the table and sharing. The Char Siu Ribs and Honey Walnut Shrimp were OUTSTANDING and probably my favorite appetizers we tried. For the entrees, the Spicy Sichuan Noodles were easily the standout. So flavorful and definitely something I would order again. We also tried the Hennessy Orange Chicken, Crab Fried Rice, and a few other dishes and overall had such a good meal. We finished with the Red Bean Black Forest Cake, which was the perfect ending. Loved the atmosphere, loved the family style concept, and there were so many things on the menu I'd come back to try. Double Luck is very unassuming from the outside but when inside, the presence is very much a vibe. The low lighting is comforting and inviting. The servers were very attentive, any questions were answered sweetly. The food could have come out a little warmer but I also prefer scalding bite if I can help it. Went in for their Miami spice menu and omg it did not disappoint. For the apps would definitely recommend the char siu ribs. The crab Rangoon and shrimp didn't hit as good as the ribs. The orange chicken as the main was also delicious and came with a presentation. The waitresses and hosts were also very friendly and elevated the dining experience, loved their vibe. Visited Double Luck for the Miami Spice. Ambiance was very intimate. Good music , nice little bar and dimmed lighting. Service was amazing. Staff , servers were very kind and attentive. Everyone received free wanton chips with sweet and sour sauce. Started off with the Walnut Shrimp which was very flavorful & shrimp cooked to perfection. The crab Rangoon i was a bit confused because we received to empanadas stuffed with crab filling. It was good but was expecting what I've seen in all the photos and food reviews. The Hennessy chicken was delicious, crunchy and juicy. Perfect pairing with the white rice. The presentation was also 10-10. I have been craving Chinese food and remember hearing about Double Luck. From what I heard, it originally started as a pop-up at the former Schnitzel House German restaurant on the 79th Street Causeway. Stopping by for dinner yesterday, I saw that it has been repainted from the white façade. That was the original restaurant to proper signage. Stepping inside, the space has the classic red lanterns, Chinese movie posters, and even the background music has Chinese language covers of old pop Classics. I was able to get a seat at the bar, where I ordered both their Hennessy orange chicken as well as the bacon and egg fried rice. The bartender wasn't kidding when he said that the orders were huge. Service was attentive, even though I came last minute and the food was brought out in a timely fashion. The bacon, egg, fried rice, served with a runny egg on top, was both flavorful and nicely presented. It can be enjoyed by itself; as it were, I have leftover for lunch & dinner. The orange chicken was nicely presented with a Hennessy flambée ("fire, fire, fire") and very tasty. It's prepared with sour orange oranges that give the chicken pieces a great taste will combined with the cognac. I passed on drinks and dessert, which is why I'm keeping it at four stars, but I will definitely come back another time. read more

We went to Tam Tam recently and OMG we loved the experience, and we love any type of Asian food and we knew we had to try the Double Luck Chinese pop-up (from the same family of restaurants/owner as Tam Tam). We made a reservation via Resy a few days before the weekend and didn't have any issue getting our desired date and time. We parked behind the Double Luck restaurant, where they have a big open parking lot for the restaurant with free parking. We arrived at our reservation time and were greeted warmly by restaurant staff and were shown to our table. We were then greeted a few minutes later by our server and were provided our menu and she came by a few minutes later to answer any questions we had. We ordered a bottle of wine to start (they started around $60 per bottle) and they had a good variety. For food, we ordered the following: -Char Siu Ribs ($18) - OMG so amazing and flavorful! -Long Beans ($13) - very fresh and large portion -Crab Fried Rice ($24) - large portion and very fresh and flavorful! -Hennessy Orange Chicken ($25) - an ABSOLUTE MUST! Amazing presentation and one of the most unique Chinese dishes I've ever had! -Tea Smoked Duck Buns ($65) - large portion and the duck was cooked to perfection and something I could have imagined having at a Michelin starred restaurant! -Oolong Tea Panna Cotta ($15) - very light and fresh, and presentation was exquisite! Double Luck was recently placed on Infatuations top 25 best restaurants in Miami. For that reason I have to give my honest review as I feel like that deserves merit. Merit that I do not think Double Luck deserves just yet. My honest review is more like 3.5 stars. The atmosphere and service were great, particularly I can say that the servers had a great attention to detail with all the tables. It felt like they came at all the right times and had a keen on instantly picking up trash from a table or dirty plates that made us feel great and well taken care of. Now onto the food, we started off with crab raccoons, and the say the least it was pretty underwhelming, and not as expected. The filling had a strong almost like cheese, filled paste, very little crab, taste, and feel. We then ordered the eardrop salad with cucumber, and I would like to say this was probably the best meal of the night and it was a salad very refreshing light great textures, a true delight. We then proceeded to order the crab fried rice along with the Hennessy chicken. The crab fried rice was good as you would expect. It's fried rice and nothing special. Nothing on this world could probably get this anywhere and have the same taste in fuel. Good size was the portion it's completely shareable with one other person which was honestly great. The Hennessy chicken was just how you would expect it like walking into a more upscale panda express. Overall, that's just how it felt like we were at a more elevated. Upscale Chinese restaurant did not really feel too traditionally Chinese just maybe a place that wants to look sexy for the Instagram photos. To be put on a top 25 restaurant in Miami with the great places and and who is I think you need to really elevate your game and stand out when it comes to the food and not just the gimmicks. I have a true soft spot for the hospitality industry so I would never give a restaurant three stars as I know how hard it is to do good and great work so I hope double luck the best and that they could truly elevate their game and come with more unique dishes. read more

Tables are placed so closely together that the diners next to us were less than an arm's length away. While the space is undeniably cute, the lack of privacy made the atmosphere feel more bustling than intimate. As for the food, it was overall a solid experience. My partner ordered the duck and absolutely loved it. I don't eat meat, so I opted for the fried eggplant, which I really enjoyed (though it wasn't her favorite). I tried one of the lotus buns that came with the duck, and made my own vegetarian version and absolutely loved it. For appetizers, we ordered the cabbage dish, which didn't work for me at all, but my partner liked it. We also shared the vegetarian spicy Sichuan noodles. They were good, nicely spiced and flavorful, but not particularly memorable. Shoutout to our server, Daniel, who was excellent, friendly, attentive, and on top of everything throughout the meal. So professional, knowledgeable, friendly, attentive... you couldn't ask for a better wait person! The ambiance is great. They were playing popular songs from the 80's, but all sung in Cantonese! Double Luck has been open for 6 months now and is a popular spot In NBV. If you are trying to find it, just look for The New Schnitzel restaurant sign, which was the previous restaurant that was there. I heard that there was a problem with city permits. But DLC has hung a red Chinese Lantern in the front so hopefully people know it's the correct restaurant. The inside dining area has been redecorated with nice mood pleasing lighting. Just know that the small tables along the wall on the left as you enter are very close to each other. You will hear your neighbors conversations and they will hear yours. The piped in music is loud so it is a bit hard to hear your dinner partner. We did like the decor and the mood lighting though! Our server, Mina, was professional and helpful with recommendations. She is very knowledgeable about the menu, which we appreciated. We followed her suggestions and ordered the Hennessy Orange Chicken, Crab Fried Rice, Tempura Eggplant, and Crab Rangoon dishes. My daughter ordered the Sumo Sake drink. She got to keep the glass it came in. I chose the house water. Unfortunately, some of the dishes were disappointing. I don't know what happened in the kitchen but the Hennessy Orange Chicken didn't have any Henessey nor Orange flavoring added to it. It was bland and dry and we didn't finish it. Saw this place on The Infatuation Miami and wanted to try it. Restaurant is in an old schnitzel restaurant with no signage that it's the Double Luck restaurant. Had I not yelped it and others indicated this, we'd have difficulty finding it. Sufficient parking on the side of the restaurant in the back, but you have to look for it. Inside is dark with cute red lanterns. I was worried at first about the food because none of the servers appeared to be Chinese. We had the duck breast salad, which was delicious and very flavorful, the crab fried rice was also very good, with a reasonable amount of crab and a sweetness that made it distinct. We also had the steamed fish, it was good, but the spices did not permeate throughout the fish, so it was a bit bland and may have been slightly undercooked. There were other dishes we'd like to try in the future--the duck from our neighbor's table smelled delicious, the Hennessy Orange Chicken (which is flamed at your table), and the mushrooms. Heard lots of good about this place and had to go see for myself - not disappointed! Booked a reservation for 4 on a Saturday and headed over to meet up my squad. Took a bit to get seated (wasn't clear if we had to have the whole party present or went by me saying I would wait since I got there early), but we did get a nicely lit table which I specifically asked for on my reservation. Camera's gotta eat! We had an idea of what we all wanted and for the most part everything was great. If you're coming here for "Chinese" that fits into your pre-conceived box, maybe wait until you're ready to be open minded. The dishes here have modern twist to "traditional" dishes and that's what makes places like this fun. Here's the chowdown: - Dragon Stone riesling (bottle) - Little Sumo Sake (4) - Crab Rangoon (2) - Crab Fried Rice - Double Cooked Pork Belly (not pictured) - Crispy Fried Eggplant - Dan Dan noodles - Tea Smoked Duck Crab rangoon comes with 4 per order, and it's actually quite filling, so don't overdo it with these. Great way to start off the dinner. The eggplant was surprisingly a table favorite, the sauce that comes with it made the dish. Crab fried rice has real crab and is also SPICY. Same with the Dan Dan (SPICY) but we all went for it and both these dishes disappeared quickly. I would say both these dishes are a must. We were on the fence about the Hennessy Orange Chicken, and we decided to skip it because everyone has been getting it, and also because our server encouraged us to try something we typically wouldn't go for, and we all appreciated the honesty. We went with the pork belly instead and it was a nice transition dish before the fried rice and the duck. Tea smoked duck was great with the bao buns and comes with 3 different sauces, best one was the Hoisin but there was a creamy sauce that also slapped when put together with everything in the bao. We skipped dessert as it didn't really call our attention here, and instead opted for an extra dish - in this case it was the pork belly. No cocktails here which I definitely would have preferred, however I liked the sake and this is a pop-up after all. You do get to take the little sumo glass home though! We had to order an extra set of baos for everyone to get two, so be mindful of this if you go for it. I think the best part of this restaurant is the portions for price, which the table agreed was great. We absolutely did not leave hungry for what we paid. BIG thanks to Mina and Steph for chopping it up with us, they both worked their asses off and made sure we had a good time. Though the decor might feel a bit tacky upon entering, concerns quickly fade when they bring out the complimentary chips and sauce. The duck salad is refreshing and with a dressing that I wish they sold in a bottle. The orange chicken is probably the best you will have.
