The experience today was so weird. We had a table of 5 with a baby. Rang the bell to put in our order and waited 45 mins for our ramen. One person from our party ate her dish and finish because we didn't want her to wait on us. If I'm honest I don't think we would have ever gotten our ramen if we didn't ask a waitress where our order was. How did they get the egg/rice order but not the 4 orders of ramen? It doesn't make sense. It doesn't take 45 mins for ramen... it was also not even busy. And they forgot a tempura shrimp for one of the ramen dishes. No apology for the extended wait. No acknowledgment of their poor service. Make sure if you come here and have to wait longer than 15 mins for a bowl of ramen. Ask and don't be like our table trying to give them grace. Walking in this place left me flabbergasted. I became mesmerized the decor that speaks life to this restaurant. I just could not staring and looking around. The displays, designs, and ambiance captures the attention of those who desire elegance, sophistication, and a private and romantic setting set off behind a private curtain. Cute interior, delicious food! Unsure of this place's popularity, I made reservations for 11AM when the restaurant opens. It wasn't needed, but it was just in case. When we arrived there was only one other couple inside. As soon as you walk in you'll immediately get a preview of the restaurant's wonderful aesthetics. Get here early enough and you'll get seated in the cute honeycomb of private seating. There is a buzzer at each table that you press to call a server over when you want to order, get your check, or anything else. The menu has a lot of mouthwatering items, but we were able to narrow it down to a few things we wanted to try. We each ordered CP#2 Spicy Couple, and to share we got the Fried Potato Shrimp and a Steamed Pork Bao Bun. The food, was delicious: - CP#2 Spicy Couple: A half/half bowl of Sapporo Miso and Spicy Tonkotsu. Both sides were delicious. The broth in each was flavorful. The shrimp tempura was amazing, and the chashu pork hit the spot. - Fried Potato Shrimp: Crispy, flavorful, and accompanied by a sauce that made it even better. - Steamed Pork Bao Bun: The bao itself was soft, perfect. The piece of pork was huge, flavorful, and savory. So good you wish you had ordered more. Street parking is available, though at times could be hard to find. This latest experience was no different and in fact even more of a pleasant surprise. I ordered the omurice since this is an item I rarely see anywhere, it came with a side of the crispiest most succulent katsu I've ever had. The omurice itself was awesome as well, soft, fluffy and cooked perfectly in that the egg flowed like lava, this was a first for me and made a great lasting impression. This place is so beautiful love the minimalist decor. I've never tried ramen noodles before this was my first time it was ok lacked flavor for sure but not bad overall. The springs rolls you can never go wrong with them they were well cooked. At this place the host only comes to take your order when you press the button that is by your table, which is good I guess they don't keep disturbing you to know if you are ready or not. My husband is obsessed with Japan and we've been talking about taking a trip there for a while now. I can be a picky eater and he's been trying to get me to try real ramen. He's been here before but this was my first time. We went this weekend and were seated right away. It's a super cute place. I loved everything about it. You can write a wish on a piece of wood which they hang on a tree in the middle of the dining area. We sat in the honeycomb booth. There is a second floor of them which I want to be seated in next time. There is also a bar, tables and private tables in the back which has a little cloth door you can slide over for privacy. I got a combo A because I wanted to try the pork Bao Bun and my husband got the Yinyang. He loved his. As for me, I really really don't like seaweed. The entire dish took the seaweed taste and it really turned me off. I tried the spicy broth of my husband's dish and that was really good. Super spicy! This place has such a cool interior. I love the tree with the wooden planks that you can decorate. This place is kid friendly as it's spacious and there are also some private "cabana" type rooms. I went with a group of 4 adults and 3 small children and they were more than patient and accommodating to our needs. They even give the kids water in a sealed boba plastic cup. Sapporo Miso Ramen was mediocre and the Tokyo Tonkatsu Shoyu Ramen with black garlic did not have a garlic taste at all. Definitely do not pay the extra $1 for the black garlic. I even asked the waiter to check that I received the correct ramen, because the taste was just meh... We also ordered side dishes, chashu steamed bun, fried squid tentacles, popcorn chicken and okinomiyaki. Steamed bun wasn't bad but a tad fatty. I made a reservation for at 4:30pm for this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon and probably would not have needed it, but glad to have had it either way. There's a few different seating options and I would say that it's wheelchair accessible aside from the tik tok famous honeycomb seating. My friend and I were placed a booth with a curtain and it definitely added a nice layer of privacy. There's a call button that allows you to order the food when you're ready so you don't feel rushed in the slightest. My friend really enjoyed her thai iced tea, I went with the matcha; wasn't as sweet as I prefer but still good quality. The ramen was divine. All the elements worked well together. A quick note is that if the menu says spicy, it will have some genuine kick. I enjoy heat, but I know some people can only tolerate a certain level of spice. We finished off with a crepe cake. I'd give it a 7/10. Pretty good texture, though it has a hint of a cream cheese flavor which threw me off a bit because I haven't experienced this in other crepe cakes I've tried. Took my husband here because he had been craving Ramen for the longest. The decor in this place is very beautiful and unique. We sat in a honeycomb shaped pod. It was very interesting. The staff is super attentive and fast. Minutes after we ordered, the plates started arriving at our table. For appetizers we ordered Lobstwr & Chashu Salad Balls and Deep Fried Gyoza Dumplings. The salad balls were ok but the Gyoza dumplings were very delicious. We also ordered the Classic Japanese Omurice. The presentation was better than the actual dish but my husband enjoyed it. I think my party had a few thoughts on the drinks though. Either too sweet or not sweet enough. Think I heard the passion fruit drink was too sweet. I've been here twice since my first visit both times with my mom. I feel as though this is our special spot now. I decided to try a rice burger and it was great. They gave me gloves and I was confused as first but I understood the assignment! If you check in on Yelp you get a free Thai latte or matcha pudding. I got the tonkatsu and omurice. I've never had such tough, rubber katsu in my life - I actually thought the meat was raw so the waiter brought me a new dish and it was the literal same quality. Prob not raw, just has to be really old meat idk?? Bf got ramen, he said it's ok. His ramen meat was better than mine but still a bit rubbery. Then the matcha pudding with milk came, the milk tasted so old (not spoiled, but old) that it overpowered the pudding flavor. Finally tried this ramen place! Been seeing this in instagram and finally got to try it! Location: It is located in Bayside. There were no line when we went despite of the hype. The interior is nice with Japanese decor and the honeycomb seating is so cute! There is also money tree inside (i think it's a money tree) lol Service: he was the best! He is very attentive and gave us good recommendation. Food: honest rating here, but I felt the food was okay. We ordered CP#3 which is SHRIMP and PORK COUPLE: the broth is fine, it was a typical ramen. I felt like the broth taste the same. The noodles was cooked properly and the meat was okay. The shrimp in there is I felt like the shrimp tempura that you bought in Costco. SHRIMP TEMPURA: again, it taste like the tempura from costco. COUPLE TWIN CUP: omg this was the best i had here, the lemonade was soo good and refreshing, the thai tea taste good as well but the lemonade was better! MATCHA PUDDING with RED BEAN: good thing its free when u checkin, i kinda don't like it. It's just bitter, the pudding is not sweet at all. The red bean is not sweet. First time at their bayside location and love how it's spacious with an open kitchen. They also have hexagonal pods that fits party of 2 which makes for a cute date and some privacy from other diners. Came here on a Sunday for lunch (party of 2) and was seated almost immediately in one of the pods on the highest level. One of the downside of sitting in the pods is you're not exactly in the foot traffic of all the servers/waiters, so it feels bad making someone come all the way up just for a water refill. However, there is a call button for when you're ready to order/get the bill so it doesn't take forever to flag someone down. We got takoyaki to share - not too memorable. It didn't come out piping hot (more like lukewarm?) and wasn't crispy on the edges. I got their spicy tonkotsu, which you are able to order at two different spice levels (spicy or hot, the latter being the spicier option) and of course I got the "hot" option. Rex was incredibly friendly and warm, creating a comfortable dining experience and atmosphere; he even opened my sanitizing wipe as I checked out their menu, which was very thoughtful. The restaurant is incredibly spacious and pretty, with a honeycomb seating booth interior design that's unique and picturesque! The menu is very expansive, ranging from a wide variety of ramen dishes, kamameshis, rice burgers, and a long list of appetizers and sides; I recommend coming here with multiple people so you can try as much as possible (wish I did that lol). At the time of this review, you can check-in on Yelp to get a free dessert or drink, so don't forget if it's still available! They also have a fun little passive game where if you order their ramen, there's a chance that at the bottom of bowl if it says the word "Free" you win a little prize as shown in the picture, which is fun and exciting; kinda wish they did that for the rice dishes as well haha. One issue with the service is that when it came time for the bill, the staff took forever to come and I'm unsure if it's because of the bell not working properly or that they just didn't see it. Now onto the food: I ordered the pork tonkatsu omurice combo with curry sauce and a Thai iced tea. The Thai ice tea is a bit sweeter than I would like, but that's just my personal taste. When the rice came, the staff was being efficient and began cutting the egg and assembling the dish before I got the chance to even record it, which was definitely a bummer since I'm sure many people who order this would like to enjoy cutting the egg and have it run down the rice rather than having others cut it for them; I'd recommend asking the diner if they would like to assemble it themselves or have the staff do it for them, that way the diner can prepare to record it or enjoy it to their preference, such as adding however much of the sauce they want instead of having it all drenched all over. The fried rice is incredibly flavorful with a rich beef umami flavor, and the egg is perfectly runny, just like how it is in all those Japanese TikTok videos or Facebook reels! The curry has a nice mild flavor to it and the tonkatsu was perfectly battered! However, my only complaint is that the tonkatsu is a bit small, especially for the price, so perhaps a slightly bigger portion would've enhanced the dish even more! It definitely didn't look like the picture, where it appeared more plain and without the scallions; I kinda would've liked it more to look like the picture and that way we can assemble the dish ourselves. Lastly, the tonkatsu was served on top of a measly few pieces of greens, which was a bit unappetizing, so the presentation could use a little work! Asides from the hiccups I mentioned (small tonkatsu portion, not aesthetically pleasing appearance with the greens, and not being able to cut the egg and enjoy the experience), it was definitely a positive experience and I would love the opportunity to come back to try their expansive menu selections! This place is still the bomb dotcom. For my second time visiting, I tried the classic omurice with demi glace sauce (they have a curry sauce option as well). Note that the omurice comes in a set with a beverage, and not available as a standalone. The omurice is cooked perfectly with the runnyish egg on top. They make sure to slice the egg part of the omurice in front of you (in case you want a video or pic for social media). I wish they kept the sauce on the side instead of pouring it all on top though, because it ended up being too much sauce for my liking. The omurice is more than enough for a hearty meal, but if you add the katsu it can definitely be shareable with someone. It is a bit busier during the weekends so service is noticeably slower for ordering and getting the check, but the food is still on point.
