Bacon Egg and Cheese Croissant ($4.99)
    Chanel M.

I stop by here every so often and typically pick up a breakfast croissant sandwich. My fave is the Bacon, Egg and Cheese ($4.99). They're made fresh so it does take a few minutes, however, you can call ahead to avoid having to wait because the wait times may vary depending on how busy they are. My daughter has gotten their Breakfast Tacos which are delicious and made to order too. Every time I've visited they've been super nice and I've always been given a complimentary donut or donut holes which was a welcome surprise. I definitely recommend stopping by and giving them a try!

This place is a bit disorganized. The cashier didn't know what/where things were in the pastry case (for example the peanut butter donut and pulled pork kolache) partially because the labels didn't coincide with the pastries. Two items we ordered didn't end up getting put in our to go bags. I didn't get a receipt so I have no way of knowing if I was charged correctly. I only tried the one donut and it was okay. They have two shapes I've never seen before in donuts that were fun to see. The pastries felt unfinished. The pork in the pulled pork was plentiful but dry. The bread on the kolaches was fine and next time I'd stick with a standard flavor like sausage as that one was good but didn't wow me.

We have been going to L & L twice now. We learned from our first visit that their breakfast tacos are bomb so don't miss out! AMBIANCE: It's small but the area to order in line is spacious. They have a few tables inside. SERVICE: Staff are nice and friendly. We always call ahead for pickup to save time and the same lady was there both times we went. She is always fast at taking phone orders and nice. Bonus: We got extra donuts in our to-go order both times!!! FOOD/DRINKS: we have tried their donuts (regular filled & cake donuts), savory Kolache, breakfast tacos, and horchata. Their DONUTS were soft and light (but sweet), and the texture of their CAKE DONUT was more like soft & fluffy muffin texture, not crumbly which I liked. We tried their BRISKET KOLACHE and it was okay but there were huge & thick pieces of brisket inside which was not appetizing and hard to eat. I would prefer smaller pieces! Their HORCHATA was WAY too SWEET (it should have come with a diabetes shot ). I even tried to fix it by adding more iced and half cup of milk but still couldn't salvage it unfortunately. Their BUTTER SPINACH FETA PASTRY was good! The best items on their menu are their BREAKFAST TACOS!!! we got egg, cheese and potato & their beef fajita taco and both were so good - soft & warm tortillas and their spicy green sauce has some kick to it (they also have the red sauce too if you don't like it spicy). The fajita tacos run out so fast so put your order in early!! We will definitely visit again, good food, close to home, and friendly people--checks all our boxes!

My favorite "donut" is an apple fritter. Is it considered a donut? Either way I was pleased to find it was nice and warm when I removed it from the bag. It was that fresh! I enjoyed the complimentary donut holes too. They are nice and airy. Excellent service and and an impeccably clean shop. Now I want to get another one straight away.

Brought the family in for Sunday morning donuts. This was hands down the best donuts we have had in the area. Their SEC kolaches had a fried egg, a sausage patty, and a generous amount of cheese wrapped in a buttery pastry. Kid donuts are typically nothing to write home about, but even these we could tell were extremely fresh and flakey. The staff even threw some extra donut holes on the side. Long story short, we may have found our regular spot nearby for donuts.

Our new favorite local donut shop! We went around 1pm over the weekend and they were still very fresh and soft! The strawberry cake donut was incredible and rare to find this type so definitely recommend it!

    Always tasty!

Good tasty donuts that taste fresh and not like left over donuts. One of the better places in the Pflugerville area.

They make the wait time enjoyable by talking, smiling, and kidding around. We all broke out laughing when an older couple in their nineties walked right past me and took my seat at the counter. It was the funniest thing. But I was still able to get a seat at the counter, and what a joy that was. I wished I knew the guy's name and the names of the gentlemen behind him delivering the food. They were the best group of people! I know you all are waiting on the food review! Well, I'll tell you that everything was perfectly made, thanks to a great staff! I hope this place never loses its charm, its friendliest staff, and the fluffiest of pancakes. I've never met a group of people who can make you feel so great and deliver the best breakfast.

The pancakes are fluffy and the eggs are always done correctly. Although the food is quite delicious the service needs work. A manager seated at the food counter would solve some server errors. For example, "no arugula" was missed, no syrup was given for the pancakes, no water for the table, no water was offered, and a side of avocado was forgotten. These are server issues and maybe the cook didn't read the ticket correctly. This will not stop me from returning, but if they would like to increase the star rating, this needs to be corrected quickly. Lastly, adding sound wall panels will help with the loudness of the dining area.

However the great pitmaster, John Brotherton, who made Brotherton's Black Iron Barbecue a legendary place passed away a year ago. He was only 49. His death was sudden and shocking. Net of being a great cook, he apparently was also a great human being. He was much beloved in the Pflugerville community. When a master chef dies, It is usually very hard to his or her restaurant to recover. Brotherton's has taken a serious serious loss. * * * 1) The brisket that was once exceptionally tasty now does not taste like much. 2) Ribs that were highly regarded are now nothing special. 3) I can't say whether the pitmaster was responsible for the sides. However the tater tot casserole has become unpleasant. The beans don't have anything to them. * * * Fortunately I was with charming and absolutely delightful company. So the conversation over the table sparkled. The living carry on many of the good things of life. Those good things take more forms than just the food we put in our mouths. * * * That said, Brotherton's is a serious reminder that death comes to us all. When we die, many of the good things we created die with us.

Okay Cuban Food in Pflugerville…read more Tropicana sets the standard for Cuban food in this town. I have not been to Havana on South Congress in years. Back in the day, Havana impressed as well. What about Chicho's? It won't thrill you. It won't kill you. * * * a) The menu at Chicho's is small. The menu at Tropicana is infinite. Chicho's is mostly a sandwich place. But they have some plates. Tropicana has everything. b) Servings at Chicho's are small. Small servings? At a Cuban restaurant? Yes - Miami has some Cuban restaurants with small servings too. But Cuban is where you often go when you are looking for some serious bellybusting. Havana Harry's is the model for ... your appetizer, your main course and your dessert are EACH as filling as a Thanksgiving Dinner. That is three Thanksgiving Dinners. The pork chop I got at Chicho's was cut thin. How thin was your pork chop, Samuel C? Funny you should ask, Yelp Reader. It was maybe a thickness of three on a delicatessen slicer. Probably closer to two. It was like eating a slice of ham out of an Oscar Mayer ham for little kids's lunch pack. It was nicely sauteed and had a sweet sauce. (Shades of the Oscar Mayer ham again). I ate my ration. There was an ice cream scoop's worth of congris. It was first rate congris ... the best thing on the plate. I was sad when my ice cream scoop's worth was gone. There were four maduros which counts as a legal but unimpressive serving. They were standard. There was a miniscoop of salad - but you know the salad you get as a side garnish in Mexican and Cuban restaurants. You don't eat it and it is no loss. * * * The other downside was the strawberry juice drink con leche. It was a standard industrialized strawberry pulp pack for drinks Which is par for the course when you order these things. Either something was funny with the strawberry pulp or something was wrong with the milk. 85 percent of the sips were okay. 15 percent were - wait a minute - something is wrong. The wrongness was inconsistent enough that I did not want to complain to management. But the more I reflect on it - the more I am sure I would not order another juice drink for a beverage. * * * Overall, my basic dishes were good enough that I could see eating there again if I happened to be in the neighborhood. But Pflugerville is full of amazing places ... And there is some great Yelp reviewing to be done in that town. And if I am hungering for Cuban ... there is always Tropicana. * * * Actually ... If I am hungering for Cuban ... There is always Miami. Eat at the best Cuban places in Miami And you will be so happy you will never want to eat again. Plus you will be so full it will be physically impossible for you to eat again. Ever. * * * No Cuban restaurant in Austin takes you to that extreme of happiness. But Tropicana does a good job of getting you 2/3 of the way there.
