    Italian Beef

The Italian Beef is a must here! Wow ! I also tried the Maxwell Street Polish (chefs kiss) Definitely one of the best polish hotdogs Ive had outside of Chicago. The Chicago Dog was good, not the best I've had. (6/10) The fries were a huge disappointment, unfortunately. Would skip them entirely next time. (2/10) Also, I was disappointed in the drink selection, no Old Style nor Goose Island to wash down the food for the full authentic experience. Loved the decor. Surprised they had little foot traffic for how good this place is. Service was mid. I will definitely consider coming back again.

Trash Bin added sport peppers and it was delicious

We found this place on Yelp while my husband was craving a sub, and since it had great reviews, we decided to give it a try. We arrived around 5:40 p.m., and although the restaurant was empty, we didn't mind at all. The place was very clean, the staff was friendly, and the cashier even shared a bit of the story behind Wiseguys, which was a nice touch. Overall, we had a great experience. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and we're glad we chose this spot for dinner. We would definitely come back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal!

My son and I have eaten here several times and have always enjoyed the food. I love Chicago dogs and he loves Philly cheesesteaks and they do em up right here !!!

In town for a conference and looking for something a little different; love Chicago food so decided to give this place a shot and I'm glad I did! Ordered the Godfather Meatball Sub, which includes an Italian sausage link. Hands down one of the best meatball subs I've ever had - and I've had a bunch. Great service from a super friendly guy named Cal; when I'm back in Austin I'll visit again for sure - the menu has a LOT of great Chicago-style options.

I have been waiting to try this place for a bit. I went for lunch yesterday. I fell in love with a Chicago hotdog when I was in Chicago after running the marathon. I was very impressed. The damn dog was delicious. I loved the sesame buns! The staff were extremely friendly especially the lady brining the orders out. Looks like a great menu and I can't wait to try the Italian beef. The decor was very interesting and very Chicago like. Quite a different beer selection, but I can always find something. Hard to get a shot of the menu because it was on electric boards. This place is on the outskirts of Pflugerville and it is definitely worth your try!

Being from Chicago I was very excited to try this place. Once I entered I got the sense I was back in my hometown, the vintage pictures all over the walls, the Michael Jordan jersey hanging down and the Cubs sign near the restrooms, the only thing missing was the 10in snow! lol. I ordered the lunch special Chicago dog- 2 hot dogs placed on a poppyseed bun which was very soft might I add, it was topped with mustard relish raw onions tomato's pickle spear pepper and salt. It also comes with a drink and fries. The fries were very fresh and hot, I don't normally eat a lot of fries because you know...I'm trying to WaTCH mY FiGuRe lol but best believe I ate every single one of them. Ketchup and napkins on deck right at your table. I will definitely be back. I had to take a nap after I was done with that meal. If I had one gripe which is very small it is that I wasn't greeted upon entering. Other than that a wonderful place very clean and a great environment to take your family

I don't write reviews pretty much ever. But this.. smh. I'm from Chicago. Been in Austin for 4yrs. I absolutely never expect anyone claiming to be a "Chicago" spot.. to be like home. My bar is set low. Expectations is low. That's how I come in. I had Rosatis Pizza in cedar park. It's was ok. Just happy to get a close enough taste of home. I'm by myself - been waiting to try this place, so I order 3 things to see what's what. 1. Pizza puff. 2. Cheese steak. 3. Pizza.. because obviously. "What about the hotdog?!" - it's a hotdog. A street vendor can crush that. 1. Pizza puff they don't have to make themselves. Deep fry. Done. Taste like it's from home. Ok fine. But my 3yr old can do that. 2. Cheese steak - cheese barely melted. The meat tasted like it came out of a bag. Just wet. Not cooked.. like it sat in a pot. They tossed it on and treated it like it was Italian beef. But. It's a cheese steak. Cooked like crap. Taste like you can buy frozen stuff and make a better sandwich. Now here's the problem... Don't ever claim to be a Chicago spot... and sell what you sold me. 3. Pizza. - this was a tortilla, almost uncooked. With a little red sauce and a pound of cheese. Hoping the cheese could hide the bs of whatever this is. This isn't chicago pizza.. it wasn't even pizza. It was trash. A piece of paper has more crisp to it than this did. I took 3 bites and left it. So the best thing came out of a fryer and to the tray. find the owner, have him contact me. I'll remove this- once I hear he's gonna fly in and get this joint back on track. Your staff is ruining a good thing... your name and the city of Chicago's name. Just skip this joint. $28 for trash food. Pizza - Rosati's or Home Slice is better. Cheesesteak - Jersey Mike's can do better. Puff... well.. at least they have that.

Love the beef sandwiches and the Chicago dogs. Deal on 2 hot dogs w/fries today - just right for us to share. Brought home half of a beef sandwich w/peppers. Can't have too much of a good thing all at once. The new Red Door restaurant in Georgetown is very busy so haven't gotten in there yet but hoping for the same tasty sandwiches and hot dogs there, which is much closer. Wonderful treat on a gloomy Tuesday! Highly recommended!

Italian beef/cheese, no peppers for me tho.

It's been a while since my previous review so I thought I would update it with a few more photos and comments. This is still one of my favorite places to get authentic Chicago fare such as Italian beef and Vienna hotdogs. We came here for a late lunch, but missed their lunch specials which end at 2 PM. I suggest sticking with their Chicago specialty items as opposed to getting something like chicken tenders which are really basic. They actually do offer authentic Vienna beef hotdogs which they ship in from Chicago. Along with the usual fountain drinks, you might be pleased to know they do offer some bottled craft beer as well.

The BEST Chicago dog in Austin!!! 10/10 recommend if you're wanting your Chicago fix!

This is always my go to spot when I want to taste Chicago without going to Chicago. I absolutely love their Italian beef and of course Chicago dogs. I normally get my sandwich wet with extra giardiniera! I definitely recommend Wiseguys if you want to eat good and watch a bears game!

    Chicken Cheese Steak

This is the definition of looks can be deceiving! Coming from the Midwest (Detroit), Chicago is only up the street and I've been several times and the flavor didn't represent the Chicago flavors. The chicken was bland and had no flavors. It was also dry, needs more sause and or just not to overcook the chicken to keep it's original juicyness. I'm glad I ordered the spicy peppers which helped give it some flavor but still needed more salt, and basic seasoning. I ordered extra cheese, and I'm glad I did because it barely had any at all! I also added bacon, but they barely added any. But there were plenty of veggies The service was very quick! I ordered and they had food ready. They asked my name and immediately gave me order! The restaurant was clean and simple! I'm sad to say I will not be back unless their is a major change in the cooking!

First off I would like to thank the entire staff for their excellent customer service and taking my husband and I even though it was 30 minutes before closing. You made our evening as we were both tired and not feeling well and didn't want to cook. This hasn't been my first time visiting this restaurant, but it is my first time leaving a well-deserved review . If you are a foodie, and you love hotdogs, you must try their Chicago style hotdog . Their bread is really soft, the green relish is delicious with the unique aftertaste, the mustard is great, and it's just an all-around amazing hotdog. I hate eating hotdogs where the bread feels gross and crumbly, but I didn't have that issue here. It was about a 10 minute wait for our food. Everything was made fresh. My husband got the cheese steak sandwich....omg. The interplay of flavor between cheese, peppers, and meat was delicious. The meat was nicely sliced and the mushrooms seemed to be prepared on the spot as well. We also got pizza fries. It's like pizza. But with fries! Lastly, we got the Italian cream cake. I don't know what's in it but you have a delicious cream cheese frosting with some nuts and some spices in the cake. Cinnamon? A pinch of clove? Magic? Either way, that was also delicious. The ambiance is also quaint and charming. it reminds me of sitting in the Italian delis I used to visit when I lived in California and it brought back so many memories... the decorations are very nice, and something about it makes you feel like you can catch up with a friend and talk about life. I also feel that the prices are really great considering the quality that you get. I will definitely be back !

Their service can be inconsistent though as the first time we came here, it was slow. However our second time here was completely different (different staff were working); the girls were quick and efficient. That being said, their food quality each time was pretty consistent which was a plus! We had their Firehouse meatball on garlic bread and Firehouse steak & cheese. Both were delicious. You can choose your bread (white, wheat, or gluten-free), and we went with wheat. I really love their bread as it has the perfect chew to it. The meatball sub was good but a bit too salty which was a mistake on my part to order it on garlic bread which was already salted. We went there again the next day, and got the same steak & cheese (with double meat) because we really liked it and also tried their Jamaican Jerk turkey, it was pleasantly good and lightly sweet (from their sweet mustard sauce) but not what you would expect from anything that has word "Jamaican jerk" in it as it has no kick and is not dry. I also got their garlic bread which was so good (crispy edges and soft inside)

John passed away in early 2024, while his family took over the shop in Pflugerville. Now just about a decade after opening shop, Brotherton's is closing down at the end of August. Following John's passing, they've hit a few road bumps from the rising cost of beef that's been plaguing Texas BBQ. Earlier in January they posted on social media how they were struggling, and again last spring. At the start of August, the Brotherton's family announced Brotherton's Black Iron BBQ in Pflugerville was shuttering for good at the end of August. Knowing this would be the last time I would be able to try it, my buddy and I took an extended lunch break on a Friday to give it a shot. Upon arrival at just around 11:50, we noticed that the parking lot was packed with multiple food trucks and other businesses filling the shopping center. We got lucky with a parking spot far away as we marched inside to wait in line. On the door lay plenty of stickers from different BBQ joints from Texas and beyond, with even some coming from overseas. The line moved slowly but surely, and as we got to the front we got our three-meat plate with a bonus slice of turkey for good measure. We ended up getting to Brotherton's at the perfect time because we got the final slices of brisket on that glorious Friday. I'll share my thoughts on everything we tried: Brisket: Though it looked like a great cut that was nicely seasoned, it was pretty fine overall. Nothing remarkable about their brisket while still very fatty. Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage: Juicy, cheesy, not really too spicy on the jalapeño side of things, but that might just be from the mildness of jalapeños these days. Pork Ribs: These suckers looked incredible from the pictures I saw online and on social media, but they were kinda disappointing based on how incredible they looked visually. They were good, just not as epic as I was hoping. Turkey: Turkey is underrated in the BBQ scene, and this is no exception. A nice cut of meat! Cornbread Casserole: I could've eaten the whole thing myself, so it was a shame that we were sharing. Green Chili Mac and Cheese: I'll repeat myself. I could've eaten the whole thing myself, so it was a shame that we were sharing. As a whole, I'm very glad I gave them a shot before I would never be able to again. That's the hardest part about Texas barbecue. The best places and the historic spots can drop in a moment's notice when hardships hit or the meat prices skyrocket. Sadly, I can tell that they're already at the end of their rope with certain menu options like the loaded nachos and baked potatoes, which always seem like the sign of the end. And with how the food was simply just decent overall, it's hard to justify the rising prices. I see reviews all over saying their quality has fallen off year after year following JMFB's passing, and it makes sense: he was the heart and the soul of the business. When that vaporizes overnight, it's only a matter of time. I don't wish for the downfall of any spot, but I understand that it's bound to happen to certain ones. RIYL: Paying respects to one of the greats in Texas BBQ
