Somehow we just learned about this place, and I wish we would have known sooner. My Husband has been craving a Chicago dog since the last Chicago eatery closed their doors years ago. When we found out, we rushed over for a Father's day meal. The atmosphere was pretty cool, interesting pictures on the walls, someone put a lot of effort, time and thought into the decorating of this establishment. All men running the joint, we told the guy who took our order(who was very nice), it was our first time here. They have been in business for 16 years(not at this location)! So lets get down to the food. My Husband ordered the two dog combo, one a Chicago dog, another a sauerkraut dog, it came with fries. He sad the dogs were amazing, they hit all the marks. The fries were ok, a little room temp(but to be fare we came there 30 minutes before closing). The soda's were really great, not two sirupy, not too carbonated, we enjoyed them. I ordered a pizza with Italian sausage added. They gave us our drinks for free, which was awesome. I didn't know what to expect with the pizza, but I was blown away by it. They should be very proud of the recipe they created. Most places over season/spice their sauces. The flavor of the tomato gets drowned out. This was absolutely not the case the sauce did not sow out the crust whatsoever it held its crisp the whole time. The sausage was wonderful. The cheese was everything you wanted on a pizza. I can say it's the best than crust pizza I think I've ever had. My husband tried it and we fought over who was going to be eating it for lunch tomorrow. It was huge. I wasn't expecting it to be that big. I will be dreaming about that pizza, and craving it. This is my go to place to get good pizza. It blows Nikki's out of the water. If you are craving some good then crust, pizza, or hotdog I suggest you go there. They also have chili fries, cheesesteaks, so much. They have one of those menus, where everything looks good, and it's hard to decide. Just try it. Warning, this pizza is 14 in(seemed bigger), and it being thin crust, and tasting so good, you might find yourself eating the whole thing. Wiseguys is tucked into a small shopping strip with plenty of easy parking. Come hungry because their sandwiches are pretty dang big. They offer two sizes, and we ordered the smaller regular Americana Cheesesteak, the Cartel, a shared order of fries, and two fountain drinks. Our total came to about $35, which felt like a good value for the amount of food. Service was friendly and they served our food to the table very fast. The fries were your typical frozen fries and came unseasoned, but that wasn't a big deal. We added our own seasoning. One thing to note is that they only serve Pepsi products. That's a big bummer for me because I'm a Dr Pepper girl, but it isn't a complete dealbreaker because they also offer tea. Now let's talk about my sandwich. It was loaded with so much meat that I couldn't even fit it in my mouth! I ended up taking some of the meat out and adding it to the fries, which turned out yummy. The steak was well seasoned, and the lettuce, tomato, and mayo ratio tasted perfect. If you're looking for a hearty cheesesteak that will definitely fill you up, Wise Guys is worth checking out. The Italian Beef is a must here! Wow ! I also tried the Maxwell Street Polish (chefs kiss) Definitely one of the best polish hotdogs Ive had outside of Chicago. The Chicago Dog was good, not the best I've had. (6/10) The fries were a huge disappointment, unfortunately. Would skip them entirely next time. (2/10) Also, I was disappointed in the drink selection, no Old Style nor Goose Island to wash down the food for the full authentic experience. Loved the decor. We found this place on Yelp while my husband was craving a sub, and since it had great reviews, we decided to give it a try. We arrived around 5:40 p.m., and although the restaurant was empty, we didn't mind at all. The place was very clean, the staff was friendly, and the cashier even shared a bit of the story behind Wiseguys, which was a nice touch. Overall, we had a great experience. Stopped in here on a whim because I needed a quick takeout order. The lady taking the order at the counter was very pleasant. The menu has a lot of great options and a pretty good lunch special. I have been waiting to try this place for a bit. I went for lunch yesterday. I fell in love with a Chicago hotdog when I was in Chicago after running the marathon. I was very impressed. The damn dog was delicious. I loved the sesame buns! The staff were extremely friendly especially the lady brining the orders out. Looks like a great menu and I can't wait to try the Italian beef. The decor was very interesting and very Chicago like. Quite a different beer selection, but I can always find something. Hard to get a shot of the menu because it was on electric boards. Being from Chicago I was very excited to try this place. Once I entered I got the sense I was back in my hometown, the vintage pictures all over the walls, the Michael Jordan jersey hanging down and the Cubs sign near the restrooms, the only thing missing was the 10in snow! lol. I ordered the lunch special Chicago dog- 2 hot dogs placed on a poppyseed bun which was very soft might I add, it was topped with mustard relish raw onions tomato's pickle spear pepper and salt. It also comes with a drink and fries. The fries were very fresh and hot, I don't normally eat a lot of fries because you know...I'm trying to WaTCH mY FiGuRe lol but best believe I ate every single one of them. A street vendor can crush that. 1. Pizza puff they don't have to make themselves. Deep fry. Done. Taste like it's from home. Ok fine. But my 3yr old can do that. 2. Cheese steak - cheese barely melted. The meat tasted like it came out of a bag. Just wet. Not cooked.. like it sat in a pot. They tossed it on and treated it like it was Italian beef. But. It's a cheese steak. Cooked like crap. Taste like you can buy frozen stuff and make a better sandwich. Now here's the problem... Don't ever claim to be a Chicago spot... and sell what you sold me. 3. Pizza. - this was a tortilla, almost uncooked. With a little red sauce and a pound of cheese. Hoping the cheese could hide the bs of whatever this is. This isn't chicago pizza.. it wasn't even pizza. It was trash. A piece of paper has more crisp to it than this did. I took 3 bites and left it. So the best thing came out of a fryer and to the tray. find the owner, have him contact me. It's been a while since my previous review so I thought I would update it with a few more photos and comments. This is still one of my favorite places to get authentic Chicago fare such as Italian beef and Vienna hotdogs. We came here for a late lunch, but missed their lunch specials which end at 2 PM. I suggest sticking with their Chicago specialty items as opposed to getting something like chicken tenders which are really basic. They actually do offer authentic Vienna beef hotdogs which they ship in from Chicago. Along with the usual fountain drinks, you might be pleased to know they do offer some bottled craft beer as well. read more

Long time Chicagoan eating here for the first time. You are greeted by red checker table, cloths and a counter toward the back, where you order your meal. Tried the wet Italian beef with cheese and red sauce. Italian beef was very authentic great flavor the right spices A+. The bread was a sorry soggy mess. In Chicago they typically use a French bread. The most authentic and commonly used brands are Gonnella or Turano. "A crusty, dense, and chewy Italian-style roll. Brands: Gonnella and Turano are the standard, authentic choices in Chicago. Characteristics: It must be sturdy to handle the "dipped" (entirely submerged) or "wet" (extra gravy) serving style, retaining texture without becoming immediately mushy." The bread here falls apart. Not good. The fries were good, but would've been better if they were crispy. Maybe you have to ask for that. Next trip to round rock, we will be back to try the hotdog and also the Italian sausage. read more

This is the definition of looks can be deceiving! Coming from the Midwest (Detroit), Chicago is only up the street and I've been several times and the flavor didn't represent the Chicago flavors. The chicken was bland and had no flavors. It was also dry, needs more sause and or just not to overcook the chicken to keep it's original juicyness. I'm glad I ordered the spicy peppers which helped give it some flavor but still needed more salt, and basic seasoning. I ordered extra cheese, and I'm glad I did because it barely had any at all! I also added bacon, but they barely added any. But there were plenty of veggies The service was very quick! I ordered and they had food ready. They asked my name and immediately gave me order! First off I would like to thank the entire staff for their excellent customer service and taking my husband and I even though it was 30 minutes before closing. You made our evening as we were both tired and not feeling well and didn't want to cook. This hasn't been my first time visiting this restaurant, but it is my first time leaving a well-deserved review . If you are a foodie, and you love hotdogs, you must try their Chicago style hotdog . Their bread is really soft, the green relish is delicious with the unique aftertaste, the mustard is great, and it's just an all-around amazing hotdog. I hate eating hotdogs where the bread feels gross and crumbly, but I didn't have that issue here. It was about a 10 minute wait for our food. Everything was made fresh. My husband got the cheese steak sandwich....omg. The interplay of flavor between cheese, peppers, and meat was delicious. The meat was nicely sliced and the mushrooms seemed to be prepared on the spot as well. We also got pizza fries. It's like pizza. But with fries! Lastly, we got the Italian cream cake. I don't know what's in it but you have a delicious cream cheese frosting with some nuts and some spices in the cake. Cinnamon? A pinch of clove? Magic? Either way, that was also delicious. The ambiance is also quaint and charming. it reminds me of sitting in the Italian delis I used to visit when I lived in California and it brought back so many memories... the decorations are very nice, and something about it makes you feel like you can catch up with a friend and talk about life. Read the reviews, thoroughly enjoyed Bill's responses. Decided to give it a try. We went about an hour or so before close, restaurant was nice and clean. Love the decor. A few folks coming and going for pickup. They were cleaning up and working on close prep, don't blame them. The restroom didn't have soap or paper towels, as I assume they were mid-replenish. As Bill has mentioned in multiple comments, I went to talk to staff and they addressed quickly. We ordered the meatballs sandwich, and the Italian beef sandwich. The food was prepared and served in a timely manner. The sauce on the meatball sandwich was sooo good, and there were a solid amount of meatballs. I devoured it. The Italian beef sandwich was good, great flavor and a solid ratio of meat and veggies. Good spot for a quick bite. I am not from Chicago so can't speak on authenticity, just can confirm our food was good, spot was clean, service on point. The setup for to go containers and sauce I found thoughtful. Wise guys is reminiscent of a speakeasy on the inside with dark, red velvet curtains mixed in with a traditional deli wall art of famous people who walked in the joint - maybe not this particular location but from other sites. It is straight up Chicago with traditional Chicago styled hotdogs, Italian beef sandwiches, and foot longs with meats coming from Chicago's own Vienna Beef. No deep dish pizza here. It's all about the sandwiches. Hotdog was on point. It tasted like it came straight from Superdawg's on Milwaukee St. and the Italian Beef reminded me of my days out on Maxwell Street - both Chicago institutions. Italian beef large and Soprano. Both sandwiches where 1/2 their normal size. The Soprano was too dry as well as small. Three weeks ago all was good as expected. As a native Chicagoan, it's always great to find a place away from home that can cook up a hot dog the way it was meant to be eaten. Our party of three ate a Maxwell St. Polish, chicago style dog, fries, rings, and an Italian beef (wet, with giardiniara). My only gripe? Not enough giardiniara. Small error which will be rectified the next time we visit. We didn't order tavern style pizza, but we will the next time we come up to Georgetown. As for service, it seemed a bit slow on the Saturday afternoon when we visited, but nothing that I'd reduce the rating for. You should check this place out when you're hungry. Eat up! read more

I asked if they show chicago sports games and it does happen but have to ask as it's for the people which I get so if chicago teams are ever good I'd go here. Overall, the experience and ambiance were incredible. The lady at the counter could have shown a little more personality and excitement, but her customer service skills were sufficient. Never been to Chicago, but it meets the expectations of what I would be looking for in the food scene. The vibe feels very old school counter top service too, which I dig. If you go to Chicago, you need to get some Italian beef, and they load up your sandwich here with a small soaking mountain of thinly sliced beef that's tender, flavorful and delicious. They dip the bun and all so it's definitely a bit messy but delicious. Add some giardinara on the side to add some spice and acidity to change up the bite. Onion rings are fried golden brown and delicious too. Definitely a great neighborhood joint to stop by! read more

Only reason I am giving this place is customer service. I've been here multiple times . It's been over a year since we came here due to moving about 40 miles away. the food is amazing but the girl who was taking our order was very rude First , I asked her about the reward program, she looked at me and seem she didn't want to talk to me , so I ignored her . Second, I got the beef sandwich combo with spicy giardiniera and it was much hotter than I remembered. I went back to see if they had milk, again , she seemed like I was bothering her.
