No non-sense local shop that's really just that. Every time you come here you feel a sense of community and oh, so welcomed. The homemade hot peppers is where it's at - good on everything! We've had a few different sandwiches and they never disappoint. Very friendly service! Come in, order at the counter, then find a place to sit and admire all the memorabilia on the walls while enjoying this hometown favorite!

Everyone in my life knows how passionate I am about food, especially sandwiches. Friends, family, co-workers, you name it. I can't shut up about it. What chain is the best in the sammy game? What's the science between a hot sub and a cold sub? I think a local joint will always stand above the rest because their love and passion are unmatched. I could keep going. I had a co-worker who had been in my ear for a good while telling me how urgently I needed to go try Hoody's and write a little review on "my Yelp thing." I finally took her challenge last Tuesday and put Hoody's to the test. Hoody's is inside a shopping center that feels like the United Nations epicenter. There's a Vietnamese and Chinese restaurant, a taqueria, a pizzeria, and a Georgian and Eastern European restaurant. So many different cuisines in one spot. But I had my eyes set on Hoody's. Inside, the narrow sandwich shop is filled with parallel wooden seats and benches on both sides with a walkway down the middle leading to the counter. The walls are covered with Notre Dame and Philadelphia sports memorabilia. Once you get to the counter, there are quite a few options of both cold and hot subs sold by the half or full hoagie. The Boar's Head logo sits proudly above the menu if you have any questions about where they're sourcing their meats from. Boar's Head is the best of the best, so I already had a good feeling. The side wall past the counter is lined with chips from Lays, Miss Vickie's, and Zapp's, and they also have some Tastykakes. On the counter are baked goods from Hoody's collaboration with Paige's Bakehouse. For my order, I got a half Italian the way it came, a bag of Voodoo chips, a Fruity Pebbles rice krispy treat, and some unsweetened tea. Zapp's Voodoos are the best chips around, and the rice krispy treat was amazing and tasted very fresh. It had to have been baked that morning or recently because it tasted so fresh. As for the hoagie, oh my goodness gracious. The meat from the ham, capicola, and salami play in perfect harmony and feel almost incomparable to any other sandwich joint. It puts them all to shame. The peppers add a great kick and flair to the sandwich as well. It's presented more like a Philly cheesesteak than a traditional Italian, but it's so delicious I don't care how it looks. It's purposeful, and with how good it tasted, I trust their science. Thank you, Hoody's. You made every sandwich I eat in the future feel lackluster in comparison. You saved me. RIYL: Saying "hoagie" and being called "brother."

I know I can be a bit of a Negative Nancy when it comes to local restaurants, but today I've got to give a shoutout to this hidden gem. I absolutely love this cozy little sandwich spot! The staff is super friendly and efficient, and the freshly baked bread? Y'all...it's everything. Now, I'll admit, when you first see the sandwich, it's not exactly what you'd expect from a typical sub. But trust me, it's the perfect reminder that it's what's on the inside that really counts. I got the cold sub special, and it was soooo delicious. Just go try it. You'll thank me later! I got the cold sub special.

Staff is so amazing, really nice. I did ask if there was anywhere cross contamination with any ham or anything so he did mention that anything sliced probably will. So we ended up getting the Philly although I really love a good Deli samich. But I will say when they say footlong they don't mean a foot it's definitely more than a footlong lol. I'm not a super fan of phillys cause they are so heavy and I'll likely get it with out the peppers because it was a little too much vinegar for me and I would likely ask for a bit more salt but over all it was a really good experience

We're from the Philadelphia area, so we were especially excited to try this place--and it absolutely did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was delicious!

Came here again for lunch with some coworkers and enjoyed it just as much as I did the last time! Today I ordered the Cajun turkey sub and had it toasted. It was really good! The bread was super soft and the ingredients all tasted very fresh. I love the cherry peppers they put on their sandwiches here. The service was great and it didn't take too long for us to get our food. My only complaint remains the same, and that is that I think the food here is overpriced for the amount that you get. My half sandwich was $10 and it felt like I only took a few bites before it was gone. Overall though, very cute old school spot with good food!

Hoody's came up on a conversation about subs and someone I knew swore by this place. Welp. All I can say is the subs here are badass! The Philly cheesesteak is legendary. It's just so packed with flavor with the peppers giving it a slight kick that makes this perfect in every way. Just absolutely delicious til the very last bite. I also got the chicken cheesesteak which I think is pretty good but it just doesn't taste as good as the Philly. The interior here seems like it's got a lot of history with all kinds of photos and memorabilia which gives it so much character. Service is fast and excellent. I'd like to come back and try their turkey and meatball subs. Will report back!

Good food, good portions and good service. It was my first time there and I had the Philly cheesesteak over lettuce and my friend had the regular Philly on bread. Both were great. Good service as the owner would walk around to make sure everything was satisfactory.

It's a sandwich shop, go in place order and either take a seat on the bench or take the food home. I opted for the latter as it was jam packed. I ordered half Philly add pickles and half meatball. At first sight the Philly was too light on the meat and seemed to be mostly bread but the taste/flavor was great. The meatball sandwich had the right amount of balls and cheese but wasn't as flavorful. I'd definitely come back but maybe ask for extra meat on the Philly.

This place used to be awesome. Just got home and apparently they are serving bread sandwiches instead of cheesesteaks now.

The vibes here are great; you can tell it's a well loved establishment. The people here are super nice. The guy who took our order was young and had longer hair and he was super friendly. We got the daily special of the chicken cheesesteak. Maybe not the best order for me personally because I just wasn't a fan of the way the chicken was prepared but I could tell this place has great potential. The hot peppers were actually spicy. They have a little discount for cash so bring that! They realized we were splitting a large (which is definitely wayyyy enough to split btw) and were super kind enough to split it into two baskets for us. Service is epic!

Great service, and the price is very reasonable. We ordered the Philly cheesesteak and the chicken cheesesteak--I preferred the steak. The sub was juicy and flavorful. The chili was not too spicy and had a slight tanginess, which added a nice kick. The store has a retro vibe. The chairs aren't exactly comfortable but are fine for a quick dine-in. I'll definitely come back to try other items.

Philly cheesesteak, chicken, cheesesteak, meatball sub, ALL DELICIOUS!

Arrived right on time and the parking lot was PACKED, though the restaurant appeared nearly empty except for a loud networking event going on in a devoted side room open to the main area. No one at the desk to greet us, just a sign to seat ourselves, so we did. Guess reservations don't really matter? It was quite a while before anyone approached us, but when a server finally came he was very nice and helpful. We ordered drinks and entrees. It took an ABSURD amount of time before the drinks came out...maybe because of the event? Not sure. The bar and restaurant seemed nearly empty otherwise and the bartender didn't look busy or rushed at all. Luckily we had intended to make a night of it, so we were able to wait. It was hard to hear each other talk, though, due to the networking event. When the drinks finally came, mine was AMAZING. Like, one of the best drinks I've had in Austin, and maybe one of the best of my life? Weeks later I'm still thinking about it. I got the Going Bananas and it was simple perfection. The food also took a while to come out, but at least we had drinks to tide us over. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and was disappointed. The toppings were spare and didn't offer much to elevate the dish, and the chicken itself, while tasty, was very dry in parts, to the extent where I was dipping it in ketchup to get it to go down easy. The bun and fries were good. Our server seemed to have evaporated into thin air after delivering food, so we had no water refills and had to vye for attention to pay the check. Eventually the bartender came and helped us pay, and seemed terse and annoyed when we asked to split our check. (Three middle-aged women...seems more likely a split than combined?) All in all, we were there about 3 hours total, mostly because service took so long. Such a bizarre experience. I would NOT come here if you are on any kind of timeline. The only way I'll come back is to sit at the bar and have drinks only.

Wow, this place blind-sided me. An amazing experience in all facets. First, the restaurant is…read morebeautiful inside, so upscale and absolutely clean. Our server was Chase, who was very knowledgeable about the menu and took ownership of the whole experience. You can tell he enjoys being there. I got the off-menu All Day English Breakfast, which - shut the front door - was the best I've had in the Austin area. No puddings, and regular bacon instead of rashers, but otherwise super traditional and fantastic. The bangers stood out - YUM. We also got some candied bacon for fun which made the whole meal even more excessive, haha. It was superb, and a generous portion that the two of us easily shared. I'm hooked. Reasonable prices, great food, beautiful interior, fantastic service, easy parking. What a fun surprise to start 2026.

This was the first restaurant we ate at in Austin! It was only a few minutes from our airbnb…read more First impressions: This place was packed!!! It was a miracle we found parking (there is a lot of parking, but it was packed here!!) Service: You order at the front and then they bring your food to the buzzer (we made the mistake of coming to the register when our buzzer rang). Service is fast! Food: We ordered queso which was very worth it in my opinion! They give you a lot for the price. Also, we got the cannonball pizza pictured in large. We ended up finishing everything! Food was pretty good and the atmosphere was really good! Almost reminded us of a food hall. Definitely come out and try this place, you won't regret it!

Any beer connoisseur will understand the technique the demands and the workmanship that goes into creating draft beer and what I really love is I fell in love with the Hill country kolsch, it's a blend of a light beer so I prefer light beers like ultra or Miller so to me it taste like a more full flavored Miller light and what I really appreciate is that it's not like a heavy IPA so it allows me to free up space in my stomach so I can go for the killer pizza. Hands-down, one of the best cheese, breads, high-quality cheese crispy, crunchy cheese bread with what I really love are those crispy crunchy edges that are on the crust it's addictive. And then you're able to dip each cheese bread into that jalapeño ranch or that creamy queso. I'm telling you this right now their house made jalapeño ranch is like crack. They should bottle it and sell it if they decided to bottle it I would buy a bottle should I say I think it's better than Wingstop? Go try the pizzas as you can see. I ordered the works pizza we can see all the beautiful cuts of meats. All fresh meats, all beautifully individually, sliced fresh crunchy crust with melted cheese. Just a great bite. If you're a carnivore this is your pizza. I wanted to jazz things up and go for the honey bear pizza and I requested that they add white sauce as the base and then drizzle on top of the olive oil. I'm happy they made that pizza for me because you can taste the white sauce mixed with the olive oil and the nice salty shavings of prosciutto.
