Cuisine: 8 Service: 6…read moreDecor: 7 Value: 10 Overall: 8 I rarely update my reviews, but this place needs to be recognized as the Brooklyn institution that it is. They say some things age like fine wine, and I believe this restaurant falls in that category. After 55 years, this family oriented fast food shop known for its famous roast beef sandwich and other popular greasy goodness is still standing. I swung by recently for my usuals and glad to report that everything still tasted the same, just slightly more pricey year after year as expected. My regular order has always been the Roast Beef w/ Cheese, which was maybe $4 when I first tasted it over 25 years ago. It is now $9.45 or $.50 less for no cheese. Regardless, the roast beef (medium) is still tender and juicy, piled on top of a soft and pillowy, freshly made bread that's been dunked in a bath of delicious beef gravy. The ooey gooey cheese makes it complete for me. Everything else is solid. Nothing fantastic or worth driving out of your way for. Don't come here looking for the best version of everything on the menu. However, if in the neighborhood, this place is an inexpensive experience that brings you back in time, when the world was less complicated and a night out with family meant a delicious trip to a local restaurant like Roll-N-Roaster. Enjoy it for what it is and you'll have a good time.

Driving through Brooklyn and stopped for the first time in prob. 10 years, and it was the same quality, portion and taste as I remembered. I'm not even a big roast beef fan but it is just so good here, and their fries are legendery, too. Their iced tea and lemonade is also memorable, in a good way. We spent enough ($50) to get a free pizza and that too was tasty - thin crust. Can't wait to stop by again in another few years. It's worth the stop.

The food was okay. we got a Philly cheesesteak burger, a classic burger, a shrimp quesadilla, a French onion soup and a French tomato soup. Nothing wowed us in any way. I really do not think it was worth the money that they charged for all of it. It wasn't super expensive, but it wasn't cheap. We thought about getting fries, but they were $9.75 for a regular sized order. Our bill with tax and 20% tip it came out to $90 There's a lot of really great restaurants within walking distance that would've been a better option.

Food: Waffle Fries [5/5] The fries were crispy and delicious! They weren't over the top salty like fast food chains. There was a good portion of fries given the price of them and it also came with some yummy sauce (tastes like honey mustard) and they were quite filling! I'd get them over the regular fries but my friends got regular and cheese fries! Although I didn't have any of their food they seem to like it! Fried chicken sandwich w/ American cheese [5/5] I had a hard time picking what I wanted to eat but when I saw the sandwich on the tablet it caught my attention. This sandwich was so delicious! Every time I took a bite out of the sandwich I got a crispy piece of chicken and a new flavor in my mouth not to mention the American cheese added a little bit of sweetness to the sandwhich I one hundred percent would get this again and I highly recommend! It also came with a pickle! Ambiance: [5/5] Soup and burger is located on the pier of sheepshead bay, so not is it a 7 minute walk form the train station you're also near the water so you get a nice breeze while sitting outdoors not to mention the outdoor seating is beautiful. The entire restaurant has so much color to it especially since we went around 10pm with the lights on. The restaurant is very spacious on top of that. it's honestly really beautiful! Service: [5/5] The service was phenomenal our waiter Asli was very kind and fast with our drinks/food. One thing I really enjoyed was the tablets used to look at the menu. I feel that it's really up to date and not so old fashioned since most places still have actual menus you use to determine what you want to eat. You're also given images to see what you're going to be eating which I find really cool for picky eaters such as myself! TLDR: If you're on a late night stroll near the docks looking for a meal with friends stop by here it's well worth the time and money!

The service is impeccable, the wait staff is well versed in the menu and will offer help if you don't know how to truly get the best sandwich that you can. The star here is the roast beef sandwich, it's moist and flavorful and cooked absolutely perfectly. My suggestion is to order it with cheese and have it dunked in the au jus. I prefer what they call a "knife and fork job" where the sandwich, the meat the bread is all dunked and comes out in a river of au jus. They make amazing sides, I typically go for the onion rings and corn fritters which are tasty, fried nugget of sweet corn and they are delicious. Do note, they only take cash and sometimes it takes a while to get your food but in the end it is so very worth it.

Curious about the "famous" Brooklyn roast beef war -- yeah! it's a thing! -- T and I decided to see for ourselves. (Once I try the competition I'll weigh in with my vote.) With a reputation built on beef we ignored other options and researched how to order. You can get double dip, "dingle-dangle" (don't ask), cheese/no cheese ... it was confusing. We both went with rare roast beef, cheese and onions. T asked for his double-dipped in gravy. Yum! Short of five stars, but yum nonetheless. We ordered two unhealthy sides which added to the decadence of our lunch: corn fritters and onion rings. If you only get one, go with the fritters. The place is busy. You'll likely have to wait a bit -- but I found it interesting to watch the guys at the counter work. Service was friendly and attentive. Unlike someone's comment about paying blind -- not so. We were given a check with an accurate breakdown of what we ordered. Prices are posted. And yes -- cash only.

I've always returned because the food has been consistent and good--until today. Thankfully, I keep photos of my food. The first picture shows what the whiting is supposed to look and taste like. The second picture, the whiting sandwich I received today, was completely different. It tasted like cheap, frozen fish you'd buy from Jetros--the kind that's been frozen, defrosted, and refrozen. It was soggy, dry, and lacked the fresh flavor Bed-Stuy Fish Fry is known for. I was physically in the store and ordered a whiting dinner through the Uber app to take advantage of the buy-one-get-one-free deal. Because I enjoy the whiting so much, I also ordered a whiting sandwich. Unfortunately, this was the worst whiting I've ever had. When I called the store, I was told I was the only person who complained today. That still doesn't answer the real issue: why wasn't I told the whiting had been replaced or was different from your usual fish? If the quality changes, customers deserve to know before spending their money. I'm extremely disappointed and frustrated. I wasted $45, and now I have to spend even more money to get dinner for my family from somewhere else. After 10 years of loyalty, this experience was unacceptable.

I enjoyed all the pasta dishes as it was cooked al dente but I found the Pasta Marechiara very saucy. They ended up bringing out bread so it was helpful with soaking up the sauce. The fish was cooked well but it was stuffed with a lot of breadcrumbs and other seafood pieces. It was quite buttery, but had good seasoning. What we got: - Calamari: Had to order, since it's one of their staples. It was fine, but tbh I've had better. They're known for their sauce, but I didn't care much for it. The bread it came with was super stale and inedible. - New England Clam Chowder (bowl): This was pretty good! Would order again. - Lobster Bisque (bowl): Not as great as the clam chowder, but still good. - Baked Clams (Cherry Stones): It was alright for what it was. Fishy, but in a clam/sea way. I wouldn't care to order again. - Pasta Marechiara: Really good pasta dish!! The sauce was lovely and I enjoyed dipping bread in it. The pasta was also perfectly cooked. Would order this again! - Chicken Parm with Pasta: Just ok, the chicken was a bit overcooked imo. - Stuffed Filet w/ Zucchini Fries: Also just fine; a bit dry + not enough sauce. Zucchini Fries were delish tho!! - Meatball Parm (3): Decent size meatballs! Could've used a bit more sauce. Taste was ok, I've had better. Service was pretty slow, although they were packed. Overall, I've had better Italian food. It's just nice that this spot is a neighborhood staple. Surprised that it made the NYT 2026 Top 100 Restaurants list (#98)!
