We have been to Paris twice, once in October of 2018 and now in March of 2019. Paris is hands down my favorite place in the world and until tonight we have not had a negative encounter with anyone here. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GO TO A PLACE THAT WILL PISS YOU OFF, RUIN YOUR GREAT MOOD & MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE PARISIANS ARE RUDE, UNREASONABLE A-HOLES...then DINE HERE.
We (myself, my wife, my 5 year old daughter and our 8 month old baby) went to L'artiste to eat tonight. There were 5 other guests besides us in the restaurant (I.e. it was dead). We were on a mission to eat French Onion soup as an appetizer and a Caesar salad (which this place did not have). They were serving French Onion soup by itself (I believe for €7.50 or €8.50) and as part of a €15.90 3 course meal. We ordered 2 glasses of wine, frites for our 5 year old and 2 €15.90 3 course meals. I asked if the soup was larger if you ordered it by itself and the waiter explained that it was significantly larger ordered by itself rather than as part of the 3 course meal. We both said that if that is the case, we would like the soup ordered by itself and we will look and decide what else we want, since we had only looked at the 3 course meal menu options and not the entire menu.
We were then told that if we do not order more food to make it full meals for everyone right then and there, that we have to leave, because this is a small restaurant.
I don't feel there is any reasoning which excuses this person's actions and his stated reason is flawed regardless because: 1. This restaurant was empty. (All of the other restaurants in the area and at the top of the city were packed full of people.) 2. We gave every indication that we would be ordering more food, explained this to him and our reasoning for wanting the larger portion of soup.
Btw to the owner or the dick head server who reads this review, We ordered 2 soups, 2 salads, 2 entrees, 6 Glasses of wine, a coke, frites, a crepe, 2 espressos and 3 desserts at the restaurant we went to after getting kicked out of this one. read more
