FYI: A hot chocolate with almond milk does not taste the same as a hot chocolate made with water!! If you use the wrong milk on a drink it's a simple mistake. But using water instead of milk that's doing it on purpose. I have been going to The Jumping Bean for years. But recently, L Cafecito has been my "go to" because it's closer to my commute. Going to a coffee place these days is a luxury and I will not be wasting my time here. It's irritating that you think you can get away with being deceitful and customers won't notice. This place makes my heart sing with joy! I grew up in Pilsen and frequently visited their original location on 18th street; however, no one can imagine how ecstatic I was to move back into my childhood home and see another location less than a block away from my humble abode on 19th and Damen. It's conveniently located inside the Damen pink line station and the staff is AMAZING. The menu is pretty much the same as the one on 18th, fresh and delicious sandwiches and pastries yuuummmm. They seriously have the best coffee here as well. I can't say enough about this place, 5 stars isn't enough. Lord knows that my inability to skip a trip here is why I can't shed those last few pounds, because their sandwiches are the bomb-diggity on a pogo stick and I eat too many of them. This place has the best food in comparison to any coffee shop I have tried in Chicago. I have never once been dissatisfied with the taste of the food. I would highly recommend the chicken focaccia sandwich. And because of how delicious the food is, I hate to give anything less than a 5 star review. But I must do so because there was a single instance where an employee was not using gloves while preparing my sandwich. I alerted the owner and he continually insisted that all of his employees use gloves, when this is not the case. I also am pained to give a 4 star review because my mother ordered a bagel that came out burnt and the team members refused to replace it with an edible bagel. We were told that a refund would be issued and it never was. So I have decided to stop giving Jumping Bean my business on a consistent basis after being a regular for over 20 years because I feel devalued as a customer.
