We've driven by L-Dub Subs so many times and kept telling ourselves, "We need to try this place." Well, today we finally stopped in and now we're honestly upset we didn't try it sooner! The staff was super friendly, the subs were delicious, and they have a great selection of both hot and cold subs. We went with the Italian Stallion, and it definitely did not disappoint! I always say what makes or breaks a great sub is the bread, and L-Dub's bread is fresh, flavorful, and absolutely perfect when toasted. It really brings the whole sandwich together. We had a very good lunch here. The restaurant has been open for quite a few years, but got a new owner last year. No worries, however, as almost everything has been kept the same with a few new menu additions. The restaurant is south of Lake Avenue on the east side of J street. There's parking out front. The restaurant is small. They do a lot of takeout and pickup. But there are two 2-top tables inside plus a counter with a few seats should you wish to "dine in" as we did. And there two-top table outside, as well. The two guys working when we came for lunch were both so very nice. And personable. I got a traditional 8 inch sub sandwich with one meat and one cheese. I selected salami and provolone and spicy brown mustard. I added lettuce, green peppers, and cucumbers. And got pickles on the side. My husband chose the 12 inch sub with two meats and a cheese. He selected roast beef and prosciutto plus cheddar. He added tomatoes and onions. He tried their spicy contraband sauce and liked it, too. He brought half his sub home for dinner. They offer many specials and combos, including a special sub of the day. There are so many way they can customize your choices. They also have a soup of the day. The corn and shrimp chowder offered on the weekends sounds appealing. We know we will be back when next craving a sub. read more

I was visiting from California on vacation so I didn't know what to expect. I was asking about their toppings so the employees kinda figured I wasnt local. They were so friendly, welcoming and down to earth that made the whole experience of walking around downtown so much more enjoyable. I ended up ordering the Italian - they made it perfectly! I hate when I order sandwiches and they're too dry. This is a legit sandwich spot that uses fresh ingredients. My bf got the tuna and he ate the whole thing, where he usually never finishes his food. I finally ordered delivery from this popular spot, and I selected the daily special of Da' Brooklyn (Pastrami, Corned Beef, Swiss Cheese, Spicy Mustard, toasted on Seeded Rye, topped with pickles & BBQ Coleslaw), which sounded delicious! On opening up the pre-cut sandwich, I was struck by the color and ample layers of meats. The sandwich held itself together and was so delicious! I loved the flavor combos and the crunch. Now I can't imagine ordering anything but this special- and I'm excited to try their other combos. So good! Stopped by L-Dub Subs during the Downtown Lake Worth art show on Saturday and grabbed a sub to split with my boyfriend. We ordered the "Put Your Ham on My Thigh" (iconic name, honestly). The bread was super soft and fresh, and the chicken + prosciutto were sliced paper thin... like buttahhh. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Ordered delivery through DoorDash and was extremely disappointed. The bread on both Italian sandwiches was so old, dry, and stale that it completely ruined the meal. I expected fresh ingredients and much better quality. It honestly tasted like the bread had been sitting around for days. After a few bites, we gave up because it just wasn't enjoyable. Excellent sandwich shop! We came here for lunch on a Monday. It was a group of 4 of us and we placed our order in person. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I did a build your own with Ham and Swiss and it was delicious! My fiancé had the Italian which was also delicious. If you're in a rush, or don't really want to wait that long, I would mobile order in advance. They were not slow by any means, it just obviously takes time to build 4 subs. So if you don't want to wait for them to be built order in advance. The shop itself is on the smaller side. There's about 2 tables of 2 inside and 1 table of 3 and a table of 2 outside. We stopped in again for lunch and this time we brought our family that lives in West Palm Beach with us. They haven't been to L-Dub Subs. We told them they are in for a treat! L-Dubs' bread is the exact opposite. It's more like a Defense Department shell, for a nuclear sub that's going to have to submerge to the crushing depths, meters and meters below: Tough shell; it's unspeakably dry; has terrible texture; and is HEAVY. So, even though the meat, on the Lake Quirky Club, was decent, albeit a little light on the actual meat, their bread sent this sub to the bottom. The cute names are fun. Stuffed subs are what you will get here along with great service by the friendly owners. We were lovingly greeted upon entering the store and given the "low down" on the menu. Their daily sub special was interesting but we chose to order an 8 inch sub with sliced chicken and all kinds of veggies. The bread choice was soft white sub roll or seeded rye bread. They have a good variety of meats and cheeses. They will customize it any way you want and that is what makes this place special. They even gave us a small discount for no reason at all. Inside there are 2 small tables and a bartop for air-conditioned seating and outside there are a bunch of small cafe tables. Mostly a place togo but they welcome you to stay and eat. For a dessert option, they had fresh baked cookies that I hope to try on my next visit. Parking is free and pretty simple on the street in front of the store. I remember at least one table outside and a little table inside, and well as a few seats at a long counter against the window. If I was rating on food alone this place would probably only get two stars, for no reason other than how bad the bread is. Everything is really good: the meats, the dressings, the toppings etc...the bread kills the sandwich.
