Called for fridge repair Tuesday afternoon (referred by LG Electronics). Got appt. for Thursday morning between 8 and 12. They called 1/2 an hour out to say when they would arrive which was 8:45. Dude got here exactly when he said, asked if shoes were ok. He was polite and wore a mask (properly) the entire time. Brought everthing he needed including drop cloth. Diagnosed and repaired in about an hour 45 minutes. Cleaned up EVERYTHNG and even put the magnetic stuff back on the fridge! Only took away 1 star because he didn't put one plate back in the groves on the back before screwing it in which caused awful vibrating and buzzing sound. BUT hubby was able to take it off and put it back properly in a matter of minutes. As long as it keeps working, I have no complaint! read more

Zero Stars if it was available. I bought an LG refrigerator from Lowes and bought their 5 year extended warranty. Apparently they use L-electronics for their service issues. My issue is the water dispenser button sticks intermittently and when it does, the water doesn't stop! This happens about 2-3 times a month. When it first started and we called for service, the tech from this company couldn't get it to stick so he said there wasn't anything wrong, like I was lying. He wouldn't replace the button/control piece and said to "just open the other French door and the water will stop". What the F***, that isn't repairing my issue. Within 2 weeks it was doing it again so we called Lowes extended warranty company again and they sent out the same idiot. I wasn't home at the time of his visit but he again couldn't get the button to stick so he told my wife, "the little woman doesn't know how to use her appliances" and then just left, didn't even have her sign anything that he was there. Now we are having the same issue for the 3rd time! I will not allow Lowes to send out these clowns. Do NOT use them, they are totally lost when it comes to repairing a refrigerator. read more

Terrible experience. Could not communicate at all with technician due to language barrier. When he walked out of our home to get another part from his truck, he left our front door wide open for our dogs to get out. Tore entire washing machine apart and charged us for a job he didn't repair. Had an Err99 on my Canon 30D, a business partner recommended this disappointing repair shop, said they were worth the 36 minute drive from Chicago. All in all, was the worst choice I have made in my career. The Canon 30D is a popular camera, but is plagued by the dreaded Err99. The owner assured me it was the shutter and could be fixed within a week. Week and a half, I had to call them, they replaced the shutter, problem persisted, he said the motherboard needed replacing. Replaced the motherboard, another week went by, all this time I had to be the one to call them. Motherboard and shutter replaced, still had the Err99, they replaced the shutter button. That fixed it, after more than a month and a half. I pick up the camera, find out that the pop-up speedlight button wasn't connected, it's nice to use in a pinch, drive back to them, he fixes it, then later that day I find the zoom out button had not been attached either! They knew they took a long time so they said that if anything needs to be fixed that they'll do it for free, so, 3 months later, same camera, Err99 again, take it back, they said they won't repair it. I walked out. Glad, in a way, I can take it to a place that will work faster and reconnect all the buttons, very disappointed with the amount of time, and having them forget to connect two buttons, and having my camera break again barely 3 months after. I won't ever use this place again. It's a shoddy, run-down place that apparently goes by several names. The receipt I got from this place says L-Electronics, Inc., but I found it on Yelp under Digicam Digital Camera Repair. First red flag. I didn't appreciate the $5 non-refundable fee to look at my Canon Powershot camera, but agreed to give them a chance to diagnose the problem because they said it would be applied toward the cost of the repair. They fixed the simple lens error problem in a reasonable amount of time, but charged a whopping $98 for the repair. When they called to tell me I could pick it up, I asked them what their Saturday hours were and they told me they'd be open until 4. I arrived to pick it up at 3 p.m. and the shop was closed - even though the posted sign said they were open until 5 p.m. on Saturdays. I called the business and got the answering machine. So I went again a few days later to pick up the camera and told them I came during their posted business hours but they weren't there. The woman told me I should have called. Um, I did - you didn't answer. She then insinuated the problem came from my probably dropping the camera (I didn't) and then asked for the $98 for the repair. I asked if that was the amount after the $5 discount, which of course she had conveniently "forgot" to discount from the price. Never again. read more

Have an LG Dryer and was getting an airflow code. Called for service and L Electronics was sent out. He checked the airflow starting outside and worked his way in. Found the issue with an extension that had been pushed in too far and explained how to fix it since it was my issue and the dryer was in perfect working order. I called this morning after calling LG to troubleshoot my front loading washer that was leaking. This is the only place that LG has on their website for repairs in the NW Suburbs of Chicago. When I called, I didn't even get a voicemail. After reading the other reviews it was probably good that they didn't answer. Any professional business that is successful at least has a professional phone system and a website. If you have an LG washer, please look at other appliance shops on Yelp, I think I found a good one that repairs LG. read more

Our fridge has been broken on and off for months now, and each time this company comes to "fix" it, they put a band aid on it, but can't actually tell us what is wrong with the unit. Confirmed warranty appointment through the manufacturer, and given a 4-hour window. Called at 4.5 hours, and no record, no appointment. Attendant was rude to-boot. Will request an alternative provider from mfg. on next call, and suggest they seriously reconsider this company as part of their network. read more

A year ago, I took my Canon A95 Powershot camera into this shop. It had an issue with magenta color to the screen and pics along with a lined distorted picture, which showed up in prints, also. (check it out online) They called the next day with an estimate of $80 to repair it, which I was happy to pay. The clerk even said he had the same problem with his Canon A95. As I had a different problem this year with the same camera, I returned to their store and received an estimate of $120. Since it was an older camera and I'd just spent $80 the year before, I chose not to have it repaired and went on line to try to find info. on a good Canon replacement. What I found was the problem I'd had the year before was a known RECALL on the camera and repair was FREE. This repair shop would have known that but chose not to share that information with a customer and instead charged $80. Its obvious from the shop that they repair a lot of cameras for other Retailers. Product recalls are something they would have been aware of and probably had the camera repaired as a part of Canon's free recall but charged me $80 ( for a FREE repair.) I'd thought I'd found a great camera repair shop, I'm very dissapointed in them. Shame on them.! They lost a $120 repair this year plus I'm sharing the above story with friends and coworkers who need cameras repaired! read more

The belt on my Electrolux Dryer broke, and I found L Electronics on the Electrolux website. I called and scheduled an appointment, They charged me for the service call and labor to diagnose the problem, though did not have any parts (the belt) to complete the repair, so they left my dryer disassembled and 'ordered' the belt. Finally returned a week later to install the belt, and charged my $40 for the belt and $45 to install it after I had already paid them $105 on the first visit. If they had brought the belt on the first visit, the job would have been completed. I found it very deceptive that they come unprepared to make the repair, and conveniently need a come back so they can charge you again. $40 for the part was obnoxious, considering you can find it online for a fraction of the price. Next time, I will call a real service company that carries parts so I won't be ripped off and without a dryer for a week. For goodness sakes, it was a belt. If you are a servicing company, you should at least have a few basic parts in your van. read more

Samsung French door refrigerator. Technician had no idea what he was doing, refrigerator has a known defect where it accumulates ice in a rear panel. It was previously repaired 6 weeks ago, the problem reoccurred the tech simply defrosted the part I hadn't already and then said it was working properly without fixing the issue. We called and talked to another repair company and they stated there is a manufacturer repair bulletin there is an updated part that needs to be installed. read more

My 2 yr old Whirlpool Fridge inside LED lights and freezer lights went out. Per the manual they are not supposed to go out so I called Whirlpool customer service and they basically told me I was on my own-will never buy a Whirlpool product again. I bot the fridge from Lowes and had an extended warranty. I was surprised when L-electronics showed up. They were very polite, took off their shoes and looked at the fridge. After about 30 mins they told me they had to order several parts but it was all covered and not to worry. As one of the repairmen was closing the fridge door he told me my ice maker needed to be cleaned out and not to use the ice, it was too cloudy. He actually removed the ice maker, washed it out and put it back for me. I was so surprised. They came back within 2 weeks replaced the parts and left. My LG TV was suffering with vertical lines across the screen. After calling LG customer service they referred me to L Electronics. I was able to give a brief description of the problem and they came prepared with a replacement board. Repair took 30 minutes to complete. Overall very happy with this experience. read more

Worst possible experience. Not only is my refrigerator still broken, I have lost my warranty, and all this took weeks before I ever had a serviceperson out to my house. I moved into a brand new house with brand new fridge. The door was frozen shut so I unplugged it overnight to let it defrost. The fridge worked fine after this for about 40 days at which it was no longer cooling. So I call LG and being a new fridge they gave me a one time warranty to have it repaired through L electronics. First I took a day off work for them to come which took them three week. Guess what, three weeks I wait and no one bothered to show up. They didn't even call so I waited all day and when I called them they didn't even apologize. He says over the phone, "unplug the fridge to let it defrost and this may allow the fridge to be cold again." That worked presumably like when I did this 40 days earlier. Fast forward another week later when I finally had someone to my house the guy barely speaks English and tells me to just turn the temperature down he says in broken broken English it's working fine. As if that was it. I have to call and tell the English speaking person that he's not fixing it. Finally he says he figures out some issue and orders a part to put in. Another week later he comes to install the part. Fast forward 40 days to now and my fridge is no longer cold again. I call them again and they tell me sorry the case is closed and it was working when they left, that they won't come back. He says this is a different issue. I call LG and my one time free repair is over used up by L electronic who they paid a hefty some for a fridge that worked for one month and most likely for no other reason that I myself defrosted it again. I guess they expect me to do this every other month. read more

This company is completely unprofessional. Our dishwasher broke and so we called them to come help fix it. The first time the repairman came he asked for a bucket to drain the water (that was suspended in the dishwasher) and so we gave him one to do so. A little later he called us back in the kitchen and informed us he would have to order a part from the company and come back in a couple weeks to install it. That was fine. After a couple weeks he came back opened the dishwasher and was making loud noises apparently due to the bad smell. He asked why we hadn't drained the water. I told him that he hadn't asked us to do that and we thought that he had already done it. (we had been hand washing our dishes throughout this entire time). He kept making loud noises about how terrible it smelled (which in my opinion was no where near that bad) and started to leave. I asked him if he was going to come back or what we should do and he pretended to not understand and just left in the middle of our conversation! He made no attempt to reschedule or let me know what I should do he just left. Very rude and unprofessional. Two weeks of hand washing dishes for nothing. Stay away! read more

Based on Yelp reviews and the close proximity to my house, I dropped off my Sony Camcorder for repairs on Nov. 9. I wasn't sure if they did repairs on camcorders or just cameras, but the very friendly staffer said that they'd take a look and it would be $5 for the estimate. As of Nov. 19 - 10 days later - I hadn't heard anything so I called to check on the status shortly after they opened. They told me the technician wasn't in yet but he'd call me back when he got in. No call. I checked back again a few days later around 11 am. They told me the technician was out to lunch, and would call me back when he returned. Again, no call. I called back the next day, explained my frustration, and although the lady was very nice, the technician was again not available, but she said she'd check into it and give me a call back. I was actually surprised when she did call back around 15 minutes later, and told me the repairs would be $160. I was feeling very uneasy about the whole experience so far, so I told them I didn't want to have it fixed. They were very polite, and as promised only charged me $5 for the estimate and returned my camcorder, including all the accessories I had left. read more

I have a wonderful experience with L Electronics. Several years ago, my little son broke his brand new camera that he got for Christmas. I found this place on line and took my son who was in tears. The lady fixed it right there without any charge! She told us the problem was minor and said Merry Christmas!! We have been using this place since then. They always keep their time. Their shop may not look the fanciest place but I am glad that I know that I have a place to take my broken appliances without worrying about hidden charges. read more

These guys are total flakes. I gave spending the day with my grandson to wait for my appointment from 9am - 5pm. They were a NO SHOW with no call to tell me they were not coming. NEVER AGAIN! They have been to my home on a few occasions under the Lowes extended warranty plan. The repair to my dishwasher left me with a huge leak and warped hardwood. Opted to buy out of the warranty and get a new dishwasher. Worse yet was when he came out to fix a gas leak on my stove. Not only did he walk on my countertop, he told me I should have gone to Ace Hardware and buy a $12 meter to see for myself there was no leak. Still smelling gas, I called NiCor. The gas leak was so significant, they shut off the gas to my whole house fearing an explosion! AND Lowes still wanted me to use them for an ice maker issue. 2 lessons learned. We have had a hard time communicating with the technician, he literally hit my husbands hand, he was not capable to understand what we were trying to explain, walk straight in the house with his boots on, not introduce himself, how is a company like LG working with such places??? I brought my camera in at 11:00 am on a Saturday. That afternoon they called me back and let me know what the problem was and what it would cost. When I asked, they said it would take 7-10 days. I'm sure that is a stock answer because the following Monday (one business day) they called to tell me my camera was ready to be picked up. They fixed the shutter and adjusted the focus. At $130 it wasn't cheap but that's a lot better than $400 to replace the camera. There was a 90 day guarantee on the repairs. The camera works great, the turn around time was excellent , and I like to deal with a small family owned business where I can talk to the guy that's going to do the work on my camera. I have been a customer here twice. The first time was to clean a DSLR and a lens that had been abused at a beach. They did a top notch job. Second time was recently with my 870is powershot. The lens was stuck and wouldn't focus. It was $98 to fix and since that camera is really pricey I went ahead. Well not only did they fix that, they also replaced the screen on the back which, due to age, had "grown" spots on the screen. She scolded me for not taking good enough care of my camera with a smile - and asked if I needed a strap (I didn't). I will be a customer of theirs time and again...... read more

We had am LG dishwasher that was not cleaning or drying the dishes properly. LG sent them out to fix it. It was difficult to understand the man who came out because he spoke very little English and mainly talked in what I think was Chinese. After he left we put in a load of dishes and the dishwasher leaked ruining our new wood floor. Apparently he damaged the water line connection causing the leak. We complained to LG and they sent him out again to fix it and he blamed it on the previous plumber and his work on the connections. To top it all off the dishwasher is still not cleaning or drying so I called again to complain to a supervisor at LG who said they could send them out again or they could send out a different repair service. I told LG about the issues with this place and they said they would look into it. We have a new repair service coming out in a couple of days to try and fix the dishwasher again. Gave them my camera to clean a viewfinder on my Nikon D5200. It had a few hairs in it that I could not get out. The people working there proceeded to tell me that my sensor was dirty and that needed to be cleaned. Which it didn't. But I would have gladly paid extra as long as my camera was nice and clean. $40 to clean the viewfinder and $70 for the sensor. Went back the next day. The viewfinder was in worse condition then I had brought it in. They put in some deep scratches in the viewfinder glass. While trying to discuss the problem with them, they went and snatched the camera off my hands. Sorry, you don't grab things out of people's hands. They try to tell me that I opened up the viewfinder and that I put the scratch in. ??? No, I did not. If I had that skill set, I would not need them to clean it out for me. They put in their copy of the work order, that " customer put in scratch". They looked in my camera when I brought it in the day before. No mention of scratches nor My copy of the work order did not have any thing written about scratches, because there were none when I brought the camera to them. They ruined a $900 camera! They were rude about the whole thing and could not take accountability for what they have done. When trying to discuss the matter, they had no ability to listen. Kept cutting you off when trying to speak. I eventually had to pay $70 to my camera back! Seriously, be careful when dealing with them. Better yet, look for a reputable and clean shop who has good customer service skills. To top it all off, the man in the shop said " for thirty years I have been fixing cameras and for thirty years customers always say the camera was better before come to store" Really??? Oh boy. I shelled out $70 to get my camera back and left. That was enough horrible treatment I could take. Looking back at the situation, I should have known better. The reviews here about them are poor. I drove 45 minutes to get to their shop and didn't see the signs. I was desperate to get my camera's viewfinder cleaned up and that I didn't ask myself the right questions. When you get to their shop, Look at the condition of their shop. Their shop was filthy. Camera parts are strewn everywhere. Cameras on the floor. For some naive reason, I thought they were going to treat my camera and business better then their dirty shop. A huge learning lesson from me. If you decide to ignore other peoples warnings, when you get there ask yourself, do you really think they are going treat you expensive equipment better then their stuff? This place is terrible! Had them out to fix my dishwasher. Was told it needed a new part and it'd be 3-10 days. After not hearing from them at all I called on the 10th day and was told the part was backordered and they had no estimate of when it would be in. I insisted they call the part place to find out when it would be in. They said Sears didn't have a time frame for the backordered part. After pushing them, I was then told it'd be another two weeks. I don't even believe them. It's going to be a month or more without my dishwasher. They won't try to find anyone else who might have this part. It's ridiculous!!! read more

Do not use this place. I was forced to use them through my home warranty. They barely speak English. When they were fixing my dryer, they bumped my washer and disconnected the water hook up. I ran the washer and it caused flooding all over my mud room on 1st floor, and leaked through to my basement - through the basement ceiling and floor. I called them to explain and they would not admit fault - worse, they could barely communicate with me because of their lack of English. Very unprofessional. They showed up with barely any tools and did not piece my dryer back together properly and left me with a lot of expensive water damage that I had to pay for myself. I had to haul my own refrigerator to the service location because they would have to charge a lot of money because they say it would cost more than $200 just for the trip. Gave us 30 day warranty on the work and 8 days later it broke down again and never got a call back. Charged $215.00 to recharge freon, you read it right, $215.00 to put more freon. They are representing themselves as certified LG technician. I just can't believe LG is letting them do this. Avoid at all cost!! read more

I would give them ZERO stars if that was a choice! Run, do not walk, away from this business!! We were forced to use them because they are contracted through our homeowner's warranty to fix a broken kenmore front loading washer. It took 2-1/2 days from the time we called the warranty company to the time they finally came out. Then the service man says he has to order a part and it would take a week. We asked if that could be expedited as we are a larger family and going without a washing machine during baseball season is an enormous inconvenience. He said it would be in Wednesday or Thursday of the following week. So imagine my surprise when I call them on Wednesday and find out from the VERY RUDE front office woman that the part has been backordered and it would be another 5 business days before the part arrives. At no point were they going to contact us to let us know there was going to be a delay. Then when the part finally came in, and the guy comes back to install it, he doesn't even put the machine back in the position it is supposed to be! I had to chase him down before he drove away and ask him to please put the machine back so I could get into the pedestal drawer beneath (he had it jammed up against the wall). He also left items from the laundry area that needed to be moved scattered all over. Our washer was also left unbalanced, thank goodness my husband is handy enough to resolve that so we didn't have to call them back. I would NEVER choose this company to work with; in fact, we are going to switch our warranty company in the hopes that another company would have a better selection of contracted repair companies! read more

These guys are bad. We used them only after calling LG as these are their authorized partners. We had an engineer come out to 'fix' our washer. Through broken English and a receipt that said 'broken drum', I thought we had a 'broken drum', which was covered under warranty. The next day we got a phone call to say there were other parts needed and it wasn't just a broken drum. We never got a good answer as to why this wasn't indicated on the receipt or by the service engineer. Seems more than a bit strange. They were now looking for over $200 to fix on top of the $60 call out and $45 labor we'd already paid. read more

I saw the reviews and was skeptical to have them fix my dryer but they had come in the past twice to fix my washing machine and I didn't have any issues with them. Although they were prompt, they charged me $105 for basically unplugging my machine and plugging it back in saying the problem was fixed as it was now able to be turned on. After several attempts to explain the it works but then never shuts off, he finally understand but said that would cost me another $45-60 to figure out the problem and then an additional cost to clean it.
