My husband and I needed a one night stay to attend an event in Beverly Hills and they offered it. Not very many hotels book for the night of this caliber. From the moment we arrived we were treated royally. They even upgraded our room free of charge. The room was absolutely impeccable and artfully styled. The room service was timely, professional. Food was delicious Front desk was professional. Valet friendly and efficient. Greeted at the lounge with a glass of champagne. We will be returning. Worth the high price! Every penny. Travel & Liesure's #1 rated hotel in all of LA. Quite a distinction. And I can understand why. The rooms luxuriate in space and appointments, the staff is congenial and accomodating and the cuisine in the restaurant very good. Stopping here, I would award five stars. And this would be the experience of almost all their guests. Because most guests don't experience a significant problem. But the true test of an establishment's level of customer care only becomes evident when one experiences their handling of a difficult situation. The morning I was to check out I discovered there was no hot water. Thinking that it was simply heavy usage draining the available hot water, I just waited.....and waited....and waited. Finally I went down to the front desk to learn that it wasn't as simple as a temporary drain of the hot water tank, but a mechanical problem. I would have though that this difficulty involving such a basic, indeed critical service would have prompted the hotel to inform their guests, thereby saving them time not to mention a lot of wasted water as guests repeatedly turn the water on waiting for it to turn warm. The front desk could not tell me when the problem would be resolved. I then requested that they notify me as soon as hot water would be available. I explained to the receptionist that I was about to get on a plane for an overseas flight. It would be at least 14 hours before I would arrive at my next hotel and a hot shower this AM would be really really desireable. I waited in my room but I heard nothing. It was looking like the mechnical problem would last beyond my check out. About half an hour before my afternoon departure I made one last check, and lo and behold: hot water. When did hot water becomes available? I know not because my request to be notified was ignored or forgotten. Had I not made that last check, I would have experienced a much less comfortable overnight on the plane. For a #1 hotel I would have expected a little more care and concern for their guests. So as wonderful as L'Ermitage might otherwise be, I have to deduct at least one star from my rating. read more

Awesome Five Star Boutique Hotel!! The location is easily accessible to all areas (hollywood, Santa Monica, Rodeo Dr and other popular shopping areas). The staff is friendly and the food is great. We will definately be back. I was so pleasantly surprised! Its a rather large boutique hotel in Beverly Hills, beautiful residential neighborhood where you can just walk on over to the real Beverly Hills. The room is huge and I was not disappointed even w/the steep price tag when I saw the bathroom, HUGE! Service, perfect. I was always addressed as Ms....I had macarons and welcome letter personally delivered to my room. When I needed coffee I called from the room and they chased me down to deliver the coffee to me while I was hanging out in the lobby. Ambiance - I will say its VERY old Hollywood. Movie scripts in the bar/lounge with walk through wine cellars displayed in the lobby, dim lights...VERY romantic. My friend's wedding was on the rooftop, GORGEOUS and so romantic. I never knew there was such awesome like that view like that in LA. Parking, yes, its only valet and yes its very pricey. But its LA, as w/many cities so unless you are brave enough to find street parking (which I don't recommend in LA) just pay the $30 and have a peace of mind. Dining -the only tip would be, while the hotel's restaurant is nice, its really over priced and lacks in variety when after all LA has one of the best food in the country. Skip the hotel's restaurant and just drive over to Beverly Hills across the street and just soak yourself in the culinary adventure LA has to offer. And I can't recommend just one, there's so many!!! One thing I noticed was that we never felt like we were amongst other guests. The hotel is very quiet, You can't hear water running from other rooms, etc. I never actually saw the cleaning crews but my room had attention twice everyday. read more

If you are planning on staying here, and you have a car. Prepare to use valet! I can't bring myself to give it 5 stars for the inadequate parking. They offer you free breakfast to compensate for the lack of parking space. It took a while to get our car back, but the staff were professional. You'll most likely see celebrities here! DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE KIDS! NOT KID FRIENDLY... Great for couples but NO KIDS. Pros: - Clean: Of course, we used our own cleaning supplies still but the place was spotless. - Location: In Beverly Hills but away from the main attractions. Very close enough to walk to but still drove to the main attractions since it was very hot. - Views: Our room was on the 8th floor and each balcony had georgeous views of LA. Cons: - Where do I start? I changed my room with the operators the day before but apparently their system at the hotel did not update. Not only I had to wait until 2pm to be allowed to check in, they gave me the wrong room twice. After the second room, we were over waiting and just settled for the room they gave. That's dissapointment #1 - The room I originally reserved was a 2100 sq ft room with 2 bedrooms and a living room. I confirmed with the operators who helped me over the phone that the suite had a total of 3 beds because there would be a total of 6 adults and 4 kids. I confirmed with the operators that the kids are small enough to sleep with their parents in the beds. When I checked in, the employees said "NO VISITORS". I gave the WTF looked and said there's been miscommunication and I already told the operators how many people were joining me on this trip. He tried to intimidate me with the rules about "No Visitors" esp that they're not allowed in the pool. Mind you the intimidation went out the window and I did not listen to someone telling me what I already got approved for before making my reservation. Disappointment #2 - No Valet or bellhop available due to certain times. Bellhop fine but you want people to park their cars in the small spaces they provide in their garage. Most cars are bigger then a Honda Civic which was the size of the spaces. I felt really bad for those who had to climb out their car window to get out. How do they get back in? Also, the garage gate would only open if you call the front desk. That was a true inconvenience. Disappointment #3 - The pool during the day was something unreal... Adults sunbathing and reading their book on a 100 degree weather and not enjoying the pool. We brought the kids to the pool around 4:30-5pm with an hour or so to enjoy the pool. Yes we got the stares of annoyance and some even left. OH WELL!?!? It's a pool, enjoy it! Along with the disgruntled people at the pool, the staff were ignoring us as much as they can. After the waiter, went around every other bed he finally made his way to us. Yes we ordered drinks and I tipped him. I'm sure he was surprised that we ordered actually drinks and not just asked for water. Disappointment #4 Shoutout to the Filipino worker at the front desk who clearly tried to make things comfortable for us brown people at this hotel. Clearly, they're not used to seeing us "keep up with the Jone's". Overall, I'm sure if I was by myself or with my significant other I would enjoy this hotel (MAYBE). But I wished before booking someone would've taken the time to point out the obvious especially to the families who enjoy traveling. read more

Incredible hotel. This hotel is my favorite out of the all the others in the area. The building, rooms, the people all are impressive. Large rooms, soft blankets and big beautiful bathtub. The Nespresso machine was always stocked and the staff was always very attentive and generous. There are surprises that you might not expect for example they have a steam room. You can ask them to turn it on and enjoy it. & Simply each time I get a chance to visit here. I'm impressed all over again with my experience here. Not to mention sometimes offer promotions that offer rooms at a better rate then usual. There's much more, I can say about all the small details that made everything so special. Thieves work at this hotel. Don't book if you travel with iPads, iPhones or other valuables. They'll vanish and you won't get them back. If you read other negative reviews they all concern hotel security. The hotel was fine. But there are thieves beware!!!! My iPad was stolen and they have cameras and know who used keys to enter the room, but still side with their dishonest staff. My headset was attached to the iPad. When I went back to the room the headset was there but the iPad was gone! I am still waiting for hotel manager to contact me. read more

Recently stayed here for 3 days to celebrate our 17th Anniversary and to attend a wedding. Our flight arrived early so we dropped off our luggage so we could begin our adventure. When we came back our luggage was already waiting for us in the room and our garment bag was hung in the closet. The best customer service and accommodations during our stay. Viceroy rooms are nice, and justifiable because of the high price tag. But I've stayed at different Viceroy hotels.... the Beverly Hills one is the worst. I had a terrible stay! I paid roughly 600 USD for the room and that's fine but when I checked my account the next day the charged me for an addition 575 USD... I didn't understand the charge when I contacted them they told me that it was an accident that they were sorry and the money would be returned to me in roughly 5-7 business days. Which is insane. They were awfully rude about it and acted like it was fine. I didn't understand that... I called them a few weeks later to try and find out if they would try to make the experience better.... but they told me they could take a 100 USD off the 600 price tag which I paid. Not worth it... so many other better hotels. DONT waste your time. The people that attend the hotel are getting a bit old. If that's your crowd I recommend but I got a room here and was a tad but underwhelmed. read more

I booked a table for 10 for my husband's 50th. Birthday (Surprise) Omar and Shawn were so helpful and accommodating with everything that I needed. We had a great evening with a totally wonderful dinner, my steak was the best steak that I have ever had and my daughters pasta was so good that I nearly finished her meal too. This hotel was absolutely stunning! From the moment you get out the car, the staff is opening your door and helping with your bags. The front desk is so professional and sophisticated. They were very nice & helpful. The room we had was beautiful and huge! We had a balcony with a beautiful view! All the amenities that come from staying at this hotel are great! The staff is amazing, and this facility is truly our favorite destination in Beverly Hills. I would have given a rating of five stars, however, our last visit was not what we have come to know and expect from this facility. We have learned that a DJ is hired to play poolside on Saturday afternoons during the summer and the pool is opened to non-guests. We stayed the 4th of July weekend, and had hoped for much R&R poolside, those expectations were cut short when we couldn't even get to the stairs to climb to the rooftop pool, after a long elevator ride with a girl who was upset that she couldn't find her "blow". When we did make it to the pool, there was no area to even stand. If we'd wanted this type of scene we would have gone to Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas! When we were able to make it to the lobby to speak to the weekend manager, we were offered to be shuttled to another pool in the area. We opted to not take that option, as we were not told where the pool was, and honestly for the rate we should not have to be transported around town to use amenities that are included in our rate. It was not until we responded to an automated survey that we received a note from the general manager, stating he'd taken actions to correct our poor experience. The net of this experience? We will certainly stay at L'Ermitage again, however, will look for another property for weekend stays to avoid the pool crowd. read more

If you like hotels that make you feel like you're coming home, this is the place to stay. Great friendly staff, huge rooms, nice view. It can be pricey, but sometimes there is a stay 3 nights get one free deal that makes it more attractive. Nice gym facility. Convenient location. Includes free wifi (I'm always annoyed that the cheap places give it for free, the expensive ones tend to charge, so this is a plus.) We used to stay at the Four Seasons because of its homey atmosphere, but this place tops it, so we've stayed here three years in a row. read more

I like this place... not love, but like deeply, like rice pudding. It has an air about it that for some reason makes me want to dress in Scottish Formal wear (commando and all) and drink Scotch as I boisterously tell stories that are all, at least in part, based on lies. The L'Ermitage Hotel is one of those quiet, unassuming hotels, the antithesis of the SLS if you will, that you would literally walk right past if you weren't looking for it. The place is high-class and they let you know that they're their to cater to your needs, which is nice sometimes. Based on the location and service it's one of the better places to stay in LA, but you could just as easily get the same quality from the Peninsula or Four Seasons (either one). If you've got cash to burn or if you want to meet someone with cash to burn, or who is pretending they have cash to burn, then the L'Ermitage is for you. read more

Wow! We had a sensational experience and I'm hopeful we'll be back soon. I describe it as a luxury experience in the best European style: meticulous and copious but at the same time genuine and understated. Two questions I've never been asked before: do I prefer the room to be made up in the morning or the afternoon, and, what time would I like turndown. Really nice! A rollaway bed was brought into our spacious room for our son and delicious welcome lemonade was brought shortly after we got to our room. The only weak point we encountered was the uninspiring rooftop pool area. I don't understand why they don't do something amazing with this (they should check out The London up the street!) Amazing experience at this hotel this weekend. Rooms were huge and the bathrooms were luxurious. The decor was very zen and relaxing. Staff here is top notch. Dana was so helpful and the hotel manager carried my bag out of the hotel when he saw me tackling it! Reception was amazing and didn't create a fuss when we asked for late checkout. In fact, they could not have been more pleasant. The doormen are always alert and jumping to open doors for you. It was so cute! The gym area was seriously breathtaking. A great view, personal TVs at each of the 5 cardio machines, fruit-infused water, well-spaced weights areas (2), basket of tasty fruit, plenty of towels, headphones etc. The pool area was also really nice...beautiful 24hour rooftop pool with some amazing chairs and cabanas. Location was perfect. Quiet and unpretentious, it's nestled among some apartments so it was the perfect place for a quiet weekend. One minor drawback : The pool was dirty. I know it's getting a little cold but since it's a heated pool, I'm sure people still swim. The pool had quite a lot of debris in it. Although the pool definitely missed the mark, we had a wonderful time at this hotel and think that it was totally worth the price we paid. An excellent understated yet luxurious option in Beverly Hills. I much prefer this hotel to others I've stayed at in the area. This is our first time staying here ... the rooms are much larger than others I've rented for an equivalent price. I really like the bed -- with a platform you don't need a box spring and it's not difficult at all to get in and out of. I'm also a big fan of the light (maple?) wood and comfortable yet stylish decor in the rooms. Our room (a deluxe room) looks back at the hills (and if you look straight down you will see a parking lot) -- and it's extremely quiet. The staff we've encountered have been about as attentive yet unsnooty as I've experienced at a luxury hotel. Didn't eat here, but had a glass of champagne in the bar last night -- a cool, almost private club-like setting. Much preferred to the ostentatiousness of some of the other hotels nearby. Coming back next week and will stay here again. read more

The bar is beautiful and classy and nicely lit, not too bright nor too dim. Great place to meet for drinks with complimentary valet, parking in the neighborhood might cost you a ticket. Love this hotel! My place was undergoing some renovations and I needed a hotel in town for a few nights. I was fortunate enough to stay in one of the new rooms which was enormous. Huge bathroom, bedroom, dressing area, etc. The room was also incredibly clean and quiet. The staff are so kind and attentive. The valet in particular are super sweet. L'Ermitage was the perfect place to feel "at home" when I needed a place to crash for a few nights. Highly recommend. Bonuses: Nespresso machine, Bose box for listening to music, nice gym with new equipment. read more
