The food was excellent. We were a party of ten and the service went very well. The restaurant is pleasant to look at. Wifey and I started with fried zucchini which came with a dipping source. They kind of looked like steak fries. Enjoyable and able to take a few home. We're both had Penne Abruzzi which had sausage, onions and a tasty pomodoro sauce. It came with soup or salad. We both had salad. The restaurant doesn't do substitutions on the soup so it's the soup of the day or salad. They also wouldn't Switch the penne pasta for linguine pasta, only for spaghetti. So we had one spaghetti abruzzi and one penne abruzzi. Being a group of ten each check had a 20% tip added. Also 3.5% added for credit card payment. read more

L'incontro was an amazing find of fine italian food in Lake Wales. When we arrived the main dining room was closed on a Friday night for a reserved event but there was a nice patio room that was filled with diners in a comfortable room. We started with a lovely moscato from an extensive wine and drink menu along with the red Sangria that looked and tasted amazing as it was filled with fresh fruit. For an appetizer we got the Bruschetta which was a warm slightly crunchy bread slice covered in cheese, bruschetta tomatoes, basil and balsamic vinegar glaze. A must try dish. For the entrees we got the Chicken Parmesan and the Veal Marsala which were both excellent with so many other excellent choices. The deserts were off the charts with the Limoncello Cake and Chocolate Mousse Cake paired with cappuccino and italian coffee. David was a great server and provided excellent recommendations as well. Now that we are moving closer to Lake Wales we will definitely be back to try all the other dishes and pizzas. read more

This place look great in Yelp and this could be a good mom and pop restaurant to be 5 stars but they decided to forget is all about the client be happy and have a great time . First thing you get in your face is pay with credit card and will charge you a 3.5% ., that to me is you are so cheap to cover the credit card charges so that put me to think where else will this restaurant cut corners . Then you get a ridiculous post in menu if you share a plate they will charge you $8 , that's also bad as there many people that are seniors and don't eat that much and also people who had bariatic surgeries that could eat that much and now they can share a plate .... Other than that service is great and food is very good too , place is cozy but , you can't burn people with ridiculous rules when they go out to eat .... My youngest and I ordered the following: Fried calamari: 8/10 wish it was a little crispier. Good sauce. Pineapple juice: 7/10 Spaghetti con polpette: 8/10 "meat ball dry" Special - branzino stuffed: 10/10 Branzino is a Mami thing but I gave it a shot and it was very good. Absolutely perfect lunch! Good service, delicious food. When we first sat down, we were greeted, and they poured glasses of ice water for us. We received a basket of fresh, hot bread with butter and some cheese sauce to dunk it into. I ordered the angel hair primavera, and the others in my party ordered lasagna and spaghetti with meatballs. They came with a choice of pasta faggioli soup or a salad. The salad was delicious! It had variety of different greens, some cucumber and tomato and shredded carrot, but the absolute best was the dressing. It was a fresh, light champagne vinaigrette--delicious! My angelhair primavera was made with a light, white sauce. I got lots of grated parm sprinkled over it. It had mushrooms, carrots, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, and it was also delicious. Filling but light. Lasagna was really good, a spaghetti and meatballs was also really good. The meatballs were large and tender. Thanks for a delicious meal! read more

Lake Wales may be a small community/city, but that also means its local mom & pop restaurants have the chance to stand out. L'incontro had the chance to stand out as a top-tier Italian (I will be honest and say American Italian) restaurant, and they took that chance. My visit to this small restaurant was one I will not forget. As mentioned earlier, the restaurant is kinda quaint. There is a small indoor seating area up front but there is also a small outdoor seating area in the back behind the kitchen's back door. Since it was late afternoon and the ceiling fans were on, it wasn't too bad eating outside. We ordered a couple of appetizers, four mains, and two desserts. Any place serving calamari needs to get tested and it was good, probably a little above average. The lentil soap was good too. As for the mains, excellent presentation and excellent flavor. We did pass around samples of our food to each family member and nobody was disappointed. We unanimously decided the special of the day stuffed pork chop was the best out of all the dishes though all of them were steller. Finally, desserts were... well... desserts. I can't think of any major instances when a top-tier mom & pop restaurant of any kind messes up their desserts as they are usually the ones made with the most love. I will say that is the case with these desserts too. What brings it all together was the stellar service of our waitress. Kept our waters filled, made sure to check on us, and even "assisted" when we were arguing what certain colors are used for alerts. You know, miscellaneous table banter that I prefer to do over seeing those at the table with their nose to their smartphones. Ultimately, this was one of my rare five-star outings and maybe it is because I was expecting average and was thoroughly surprised. Definitely will eat here again whenever I go back to Bok Tower Gardens. On a sidenote, the restrooms were clean and the price of food is "two dollar signs" meaning the average price of dishes are between $10 and $20. read more

We had a very large party and made reservations way in advance. I was put off to begin with as we were not permitted to order from the menu but given 3 options with set prices, but too late to change to another location. Even with the reservation set, they were not at all prepared for . Service was horrendous, guests finally got drinks themselves from the bar, the food came out randomly, not all at once. A drink was spilled by a child, it was several requests for just napkins to clean it and finally after over 20 minutes, we got it cleaned. What a gem in the middle of nowhere. Well it's not nowhere but in a tiny town of Lake Wales. When the waiter was rattling off the chef special and there was a lot of chef special I was like Jesh these all sound absolutely amazing. There was a risotto with smoke salmon, a crab & shrimp ravioli, stuff pork chop. I was planning on ordering the Gnocchi but as soon as he start listing all of those special everything was out the window. Our group order an entree a bruschetta. It was so good and different. Normally bruschetta is serve on a crunchy bread but this bread so was soft and thick. I order the lobster & shrimp ravioli. Hubby ordered spaghetti & meatballs, the couple that we lunch with got baked ziti & the smoke salmon with ravioli. I hope to go back just for coffee and dessert. The only thing that was meh was the house salad. I barley tasted any dressing and the greens were meh. I love a good salad and this was it. read more

Wow, happened upon this restaurant for dinner after visiting nearby Bok Tower Gardens. Our party of four arrived around 4:30PM on a Saturday afternoon, and, although there were plenty of empty seats, all tables (inside and out!) were being held for reservations. The staff was able to pull two high-tops together for us on the patio and it worked out perfectly! It was a beautiful evening and the patio overlooks the water, beyond the parking lot. Our server was Abelardo and he was wonderful - Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable! There was so many good choices for entrees and even specials, but I opted for Spaghetti Carbonara ($16.95). It was a large portion (ended up taking a bit home) and quite yummy! The red sangria was a homerun as well ($9.00 per glass)! So flavorful and full of fresh fruit! So good, in fact, I had two! Oh, forgot to mention, that two tasty bread choices were served prior to the meal, along with butter chips and hummus. As you drive south on Route 27 out of Orlando, this is the finest, fine-dining Italian in the wilds of Central Florida! In any big city, it could hold its own as a superb restaurant! Atmosphere- This is a tiny place with beautifully spaced elegant tables. It's a little too dark for me as I'd like to better see my food. This is a minor quibble, as the food is exceptional! BTW- Dress is casual so don't worry about getting fancy unless you want to. Pro Tip- As the space is so tiny, reservations are strongly encouraged, especially for dinner. Customer Service- As with previous visits, our server was excellent. He was slightly sarcastic in a very humorous way. He took great care of us and every time he left the table, we had a small smile on our faces! Food- Please see my pics. It's a shame you can't hear us moaning and groaning with pleasure! Bruschetta- Tuscan bread, goat cheese, ricotta, parmigiano, garlic, olive oil and diced tomato @ $8. I loved that it was served toasty warm and melty. I appreciated that the bread was lightly scored so that it separated easily into four pieces without a mess. Insalata Mista- Baby mixed greens with Italian vinaigrette. Included with the price of the entrée and just perfect. As you can see, there isn't any iceberg to be seen! Chicken Scarpariello- Sautéed chicken tenders, with garlic, Italian sausage and rosemary in a brown sauce and served over pasta @ $16. Just fantastic and a large portion. You could really taste the fennel in the sausage which were delightful. Frutti Di Mare Gratinati- Broiled red snapper with shrimp, mussels and seasoned bread crumbs served over fettuccine @ $19. This was my pretty lady and dining partners meal. You should have seen her eyes light up with the first bite. Adult Libations- We each had two glasses of different wines and they were a heavy pour and delicious. Limoncello- A have a good friend whose mother came over from Italy and she taught me that any fine Italian meal should finish with an ice- cold shot of limoncello. These were beautifully served and a wonderful end to our meal! Cost- When it was all said and done this amazing meal came in at just under $100 and that includes six drinks! The specials of a bacon wrapped pork chop, filet mignon risotto, and crab and shrimp stuffed ravioli in vodka sauce were superb, so well executed with fresh ingredients. The regular menu item of mushroom ravioli was swimming in a heavenly creamy sauce that perfectly complimented the pillowy ravioli. Service was excellent, friendly, efficient, and informative. We didn't have a reservation so our only option was to sit on the patio which was nice except for the traffic noise. My husband had the Spaghetti Carbonara and I had the lasagna. Both were very good and came with your choice of soup or salad. I had a Bellini and it was very good. Service was excellent. The server said that reservations were pretty much standard if we wanted to sit inside. The interior space seemed small but the atmosphere seemed really nice. I would definitely go back! read more

we'd been looking for a great Italian place to eat and we found this one close to home and it was fantastic. Most authentic Italian food I have ever found. We started with their mozzarella with tomatoes with a balsamic vinaigrette. Heaven, the mozzarella was softer and more flavorful them I have ever had. For the main course I had their special dinner Crab ravioli in a cream sauce with chunks of lobster, callops and shrimp. I mean the lobster was whole claws, callops so tender and nice large shrimp. I couldn't eat it all so I had the rest the next and t was still fantastic. If you ever get a chance to stop here you will not be disappointed. read more
