So after 3 years and a couple annual check-ups later, I've decided it's time to update my initial review. Over time, everything balances out for the most part. That includes LO Eye Care. What I've seen (no pun intended) is a growth. A change in priorities perhaps or a recognition as to the value of customer service. Or maybe the realization that customer service doesn't stop after you are greeted, nor does it end once you leave. Although I admit, a constant barrage of niceties and fluff would be rather annoying long term, it is especially refreshing that all the while you're being shuffled from one professional to another during the various phases of the exam, those attending to you are as I said; professional. Such growth. From 3 years ago to now, they've proven a difference. At least to me. My questions were thoughtfully answered. Their patience and understanding was present, the levity, the knowledge in the use and purpose of the equipment did not go unnoticed. Kudos to LO Eye Care on their turn around. LO eye has great doctors and can care for a wide range of eye issues. However, since the mergers, the management of the company has continued to decline. I went to another company and the experience was okay, so I came back a the initial experience was okay. I went somewhere else at the same time. The service at the new place was better, especially the cost, which was significantly better. The reason for the reduced rating is that their website says they close at 1pm on Saturdays. I went to today at 12:05pm and there were two other customers in the parking lot trying to get in. The open light was lit up but the door was locked and inside lights off. I tried to call and they said closed. Called another location and it said the same. The sign on the door said 1pm. However, they obviously choose to close at noon and not properly communicate the issue because this appears to be an ongoing issue. I arrived for my scheduled eye exam and diabetes visit on May 17, 2025, at 10:45 a.m. at the LOEye East lansing Office. Terrible service with LO EYE CARE both in Grand Ledge and Okemos. The girl that did my eye exam for cataracts bumped my eye which turned bloody red. I didn't complain. The Dr. said I could get by with glasses for a year so I ordered those but when arrived they literally fell apart in the technicians hands. So I had to reorder and wait some more. LO Eye Care has went downhill from a few years ago. They overbook appointments so the waiting time is ridiculous. For my son's eye exam he had to wait over an hour to see the doctor, only for her to spend less than 10 minutes with him. My other son had an eye infection and had to wait over 2 hours to see the doctor, only for the doctor to spend literally 2 minutes with him. Then, my son had to order glasses. Total disregard for patient time. Had ten people waiting to start an exam before me 15 minutes after my appointment time. You are cattle here, herded around in your mask from waiting room to waiting room for hours. They harbor a toxic work environment which can be seen in the demeanor of the employees here. Incredibly unprofessional and rude with any of the incompetent individuals you will encounter here. Maybe thats because all of your patients are angry at how poorly this place is run? It all leads up to an incredibly informal, unprofessional exam. I have already replaced these buffoons with an eye doctor who respects its patients and their time. Took all of 30 mins to find a significantly better replacement with an office who treats its patients as people and not as cattle. My only regret is I hadn't done so sooner. read more

Outstanding doctors. Couldn't pay me to get my glasses in the optical in Grand Ledge. I am 2/2. I wanted very specific type of progressive focal points....it went downhill after that. Since one foes someone tell the customer, "what do you expect? A lesson in progressives? HUH? Or when I asked about the wider channel and what were my choices. Eye Care Optometrist He was super nice, friendly, and listened wanting my input about my previous/current eye appointments and what's currently going on with my eyes - several rather large eye floaters in both eyes, and how they have/are affecting me. I was surprised and thankful that Dr. Ebert had a different, more compassionate, resolution to my eye problem than the ophthalmologists I previously saw. It was encouraging that he WANTED to see me if my eyes got worse in any way, even the most minute change. He told me about the beginning of a cataract in one of my eyes - the ophthalmologists did not mention this even after extreme x-rays and tests. I also had a cyst on my upper eyelid that at times bothered my sight and my sleep. The ophthalmologists didn't seem moved and only suggested seeing an eye surgeon. Dr. Ebert put in his notes instructions for staff to make me an appointment with Dr. Craig Lewis, L. O. Eye Care Plastic Surgeon. Dr. Ebert got it. I thank God for him and am comforted to know that I have an eye specialist who really cares about me. read more

I went in for glasses at the lake Lansing store. I did the exam. Which was Went wonderful then to get the glasses ordered. I told him that I could not do the no line bifocals because of alignment issue. Let's try them we can make it work. Nope was of time had the lenses remade. Got them and nope they where not anything I can use! The bifocal is only useable at like 8" from my face. I called to let them know and they said I needed medium vision glasses for work. WTH is that? Why would I buy glasses that I could not use at work that is where I use them most. Do not use this location! The Okemos or collage road locations are fine. read more

I needed new prescription glasses, both regular, sunglasses, and computer glasses. So, a big order for them. Instead of the 2.5 weeks it usually takes according to them, it took over 4.5 months! Because everything went wrong. At this point I forgot all of the ways they and their lab screwed up but here are some examples. The first person took the wrong measurements for optical center etc., despite me asking why they weren't doing some measurements I am used to. Then, despite being told that they check all their glasses coming in, mine were completely wrong (wrong strength, curvature, everything). Then, when redoing them, they were wrong again. Then, they weren't actually thin (something I had paid for). Then, the computer lenses came back in the wrong shape, so they wouldn't fit my frame. Oh, and when I called, I was sometimes told the wrong information... for somebody else. And there was never a follow-up to give me the right one. Super annoying, had to make countless trips and my eyes had to adjust and readjust and readjust again, and go without computer glasses for months! At this point, I don't trust they or their lab know what they're doing or that they give a sh** about getting their clients the right and high quality glasses they are paying for. Do not see Dr. Putnam at the Okemos branch. I only saw her because the doctor I'd been seeing for year had some medical issue and my appointment was cancelled three times. Putnam did not bill correctly the way I'd been billed by Dr. Ebert for the identical visit and I was over-charged $50. The office manager refuses to acknowledge the mistake and issue a credit. Dr. Phillips at the Grand Ledge office was wonderful! She offered me a treatment option for my severe nearsightedness with astigmatism that had never been offered before at other places. I am super happy with my scleral contact lenses and the care I received in the fitting and learning how to put these lenses in. All of the staff at the Grand Ledge office are friendly and helpful. Thorough and friendly! I took my dad for an exam to see Dr. Budge at the Lake Lansing Road location. Staff from start to finish was exceptional. Dr. Budge was very thorough and found an irregularity on the retina, he thought it was best to see a retina specialist that same day. We were scheduled at the Coolidge Road location same day to see Dr. Biscette. What a great team and doctor! Dr. Biscette was again thorough and explained everything so well. We will only use L.O. Wouldn't go there again. Multiple reasons. I went in for intraocular pain and pressure. I waited 30 minutes to see the medical assistant who did an eye exam without asking, even though she is not an optometrist. She took forever to collect my medical history which they did not appear to use for anything. After my eyes were dilated, I had to wait another 40 minutes to see the doctor who spent 10 minutes with me, didn't ask how I was and never shook my hand. He just shined a light in my eyes and said "look up." After looking inside my eyes he declared them healthy and suggested I go to my PCP to have "a headache workup." I didn't go to L O Eyecare for a vision test - I went because I needed an ophthalmologist MD instead of an optometrist to discuss ongoing severe eye pain. Nothing that was done at this office was any different than what I have experienced at an annual eye exam with an optometrist. But I bet they will charge through the nose for that MD who spent 10 minutes with me and told me to go to my primary care doctor. Factory eye care geared toward people who need Lasik, glaucoma and cataract surgery, where the billing is big. Save yourself time and money- find another provider. read more

I went for the appointment and they couldn't find anything so they made me another appointment with a different Dr and they couldn't find anything so I went back for a third appointment and still nothing. so they billed my insurance company an absorbent amount of money for three visits. When they wouldn't pay the overbilled fees they bill me and call me every week looking for some money, I paid my co-pay the insurance paid what they said is fair so its a scam on the billing and multiple appointments and I still have the same issue I started with. If they would follow up on the service as much as they do on the billing I may be healed by now! read more

Going to LOEycare is very important and easy for us. We generally go every year but do not schedule the appointment until that next year closer to the date. They call with a reminder to schedule, and get us both in with an appointment that is going to work out in a few days that we both can schedule for close to the same time. Ever since they changed their name the service has dramatically diminished. They didn't place the bifocals at the right height in my new pair of glasses and I can't see as well with them as I could with my old pair. Screws kept coming loose on old pair and they refused to glue the screws like they once use to do. Now they want me to make another appointment with the doctor. Seems like all they care about is making money at the expense of customer satisfaction which I had always experienced prior to the time when they changed their name. read more

My son had his yearly eye exam last Thursday August 9 and everything was phenomenal from the moment we walked in the entrance to when we left. Staff greeted us with smiles and offering assistance. We used the kiosk and it was easy. Doris at the circle desk then directed us where to sit for our name to be called. Both technicians did a spectacular job and were very professional. Dr. Ebert was fantastic and even reminded my son that even though his eyes were dilated he still was fully capable of doing chores around the house!
