I have had decent experiences with LO Eye Care until today. My bottom line is, don't get glasses there. Saturday hours are until 1:00. I came in at 12:38, and the sign-in sheet was gone, and the mirrors on the desks were covered. I was only going to pick up some glasses and have them fitted. I'm chronically ill, and it is hard for me to get out, and I explained this to the staff member. The staff member who waited on me was extremely cold and obviously didn't want to wait on anyone else today. It took about 5 minutes to have them fitted correctly, and he was outright rude. I asked about getting new progressive glasses and progressive sunglasses. He said there wasn't enough time. Meanwhile, my husband had parked and walked into the store and was greeted by actual scowls. After being rushed out, I realized the bifocals were wrong. The next store confirmed that when I was purchasing new progressive sunglasses and progressive transitional glasses, which took 20 minutes from the time I sat in the chair. But now I have to go out again and return the bifocals, wait for them to be corrected, and then go back to have them fitted. It is very hard for me to make appointments due to my health. I don't want to give them any business at all, but the glasses have to be replaced, and I'm not going to pay for them again. My husband and I were both treated badly. I'm handicapped. He is Black. If you like long wait times, poor communication and customer service, this is they place for you. Do yourself a favor and find a different provider. I have been going there for years, and every year their service has been on a consistent decline. Waited 8 weeks for glasses when I was told 2-3 weeks tops, and never received any calls from them, I had to keep calling for any and all information. They have that big box store feel now where they just care about their profit margin and don't value their customers anymore. Took 2.5 hours, spent 5 min with Dr. spent the rest of the time filling out forms (for the 3rd time) and waiting multiple times. Total copay was over $1000! Failed check-in process. Ran late by 30 minutes. No explanation for delay. Robotic assistants. But the physician took the cake. Had an air like their favorite golf game was interrupted or something. They showed a degree of unfriendliness bordering on unprofessional. It was kind of creepy. Asked him about the referral for a deep eye examination for a related medical condition. I spoke into a vacuum and then a minute later a grunt that would make any dyspeptic pig proud. Okay, so I know you are old and entitled but could you at least make a show of making an effort? Just such an awful overall vibe in this place. Did they do their work well? I don't know. Yet I feel I'd be foolish to entrust them with my eye care any more. Wife continues to go there to get care from the one physician in the entire establishment who seems to give a rat's a$$. Today she called to see if you could move an appointment. I timed the waiting time for the call to be answered - it took over 9 minutes. And of course, they could not reschedule. Now, what you can count on getting from this outfit is an endless string of spam texts and emails that I challenge you to try and stop. This is an absolute $hitShow. GO. ANYWHERE. ELSE. read more

My mom has cataracts and her doctor at LOEye Care referred her to a cataracts surgeon within their system. The soonest appointment was more than three months out -- not unusual for health care these days. A couple months into the wait, they called and rescheduled the appointment for another month away. When we showed up that day, they did not have my mom on the schedule. There was a note in their system that they had called us and cancelled the original appointment but nothing about rescheduling. The best part -- the soonest they could get us in with that doctor was six months away and into 2026. For their mistake?!? They eventually got us in with another doctor for December, still five more months of waiting. I checked with friends and found another highly recommended specialist. when I called LOEye Care for a referral, they would not give us one outside of their system. The other specialist was willing to see my mom without a referral and we saw him this week. I would never recommend LOEye Care to anyone. They do not care for their patients. read more

The Medical Assistants, the receptionists, the doctors are so stressed out from some many people they have become so rude it's hard to sit there for hours and people just rude to you. It takes hours to get a pressure check from the doctor who sees you for 2 minutes at most. Forget getting surgery there they will put you 6 months out before they can do it and that's if they don't cancel it to the doctor can go speak at a conference I am not a cow, do not herd me through to wait for hours. read more

Long standing patient of 27/28+ years Lake Lansing/Coolidge location. I had my yearly eye exam with the extra exams (Humphrey) because of a medication requirement. From that appt I was referred to a cornea specialist for a consult on an additional diagnosis that was ignored for the previous 3 yearly appointments. This specialist appt was 10 days after my very thorough exam. First technician wanted to re-screen my vision and I declined since this is a medical appt not visual. She walked out of the room in a puff. Second technician took me to a different room to finish "the exam" that I declined to do stating it was to "bill my insurance company and was a requirement of my insurance company". I declined again (MY body MY choice) since I just had this thorough exam 10 days prior and it was not visual related. She left the room and slammed the door. Manager came to the room and reiterated the insurance billing "was a requirement of your insurance to bill for the appointment " as I was getting my insurance card out of my wallet to phone customer service with my insurance carrier. She put me in another room and the second technician was guarding my exam room door like a security guard. I asked for a billing code because my insurance company wanted it while I had them in the phone. My insurance carrier said it is not true that I would have to have an eye screening to bill for a medical condition or medical exam. The specialist came to the room and said he could not see me so I walked out. Almost 3 decades and I have to walk away and find a new office. I actually scheduled my new Ophthalmology office appointment before I left LO Eye Care parking lot. I was lied to by 3 office staff members about my insurance requirements. I do not need to be bullied or treated disrespectful when I decline a simple eye screening ("cover your eye and read the smallest line"). And my "contact lens fitting" appt is scheduled for 35 days out. And I would gladly have that screening as it is then part of the visual exam for that contact fitting appt. They stack too many appointments in. Very long wait times. My son who was seen for an eye infection had to wait 2 hours to see a doctor and the doctor only met with him for literally 2 minutes. My other son had an eye exam and had to wait over an hour to see a doctor. The doctor spent 5 minutes with him. Very rude staff, they are not helpful, and many don't seem to want to do their jobs. My son had to get glasses and we arrived at 5:35. When we signed in, the staff said, "you do realize that we close at 6pm, right?" while giving us a dirty look. Really?? As a patient they make you sign a form stating that you are going to be respectful. Well, we as patients expect good customer service. I highly encourage you to look for another eye dr. Total disregard for patient time. Had ten people waiting to start an exam before me 15 minutes after my appointment time. You are cattle here, herded around in your mask from waiting room to waiting room for hours. They harbor a toxic work environment which can be seen in the demeanor of the employees here. Incredibly unprofessional and rude with any of the incompetent individuals you will encounter here. Maybe thats because all of your patients are angry at how poorly this place is run? It all leads up to an incredibly informal, unprofessional exam. I have already replaced these clowns with an eye doctor who respects its patients and their time. Took all of 30 mins to find a significantly better replacement. My only regret is I hadn't done so sooner. read more

Dr. Putnam is fantastic. Patient, explains things in easy terms to understand, respectful of costs. That said, the back room and customer service at check in and departure are abysmal. Arrogant, demanding, condescending all at the same time. Blamed everything on the insurance company and when I said they didn't cover my exam in my policy, they told me I didn't understand how the policy worked. This all from someone that I called who didn't have even my name at that point. If Dr. Putman ever leaves, I'm going with her. read more

Take your script and go elsewhere. Took my glasses back 3 times 1 hrs drive round-trip. Finally after 3 trips in 2 weeks I returned them. They wanted to penalize me 50.00 on return because of an issue that was their fault. Paid with credit card so I will dispute charges. They are 3-4 times more expensive then anywhere else. They were not friendly on return. They couldn't produce any policy stating that your would incur any charge for returns. Beware of this. Will NEVER RETURN TO THIS OPTICAL!!!!!​ read more

Dr Mehregan is a wonderful doctor. He truly cares about his patients and treats them like people, not just a disease. He really listens to the patient and provides excellent care. He and the entire staff at L/O/EYE are so professional and respectful it makes going to the doctors office a pleasant experience. The care was amazing and the facility is gorgeous and super clean. In general, so far I have had good eye care here. However, a few days ago, I noticed flashes of light at the side of one eye. It comes and goes. Sunday morning, I had a dozen or more such flashes in a single episode. In an online search, some sources say it could be something serious (e.g., a detached retina) and you should seek care immediately. I called LO Eye Care TWICE Sunday afternoon to ask if I should see a doctor right away or is this something that can wait for my next appointment, two weeks from now. I followed the phone instructions for emergency care, talked to live persons at the answering service and was told someone would call me back within a half hour. No one ever called back, either time. I called Monday morning around 8:00. I was pretty clear, I think, in stating that I wanted to talk with a doctor to get a medical opinion as to whether I should be seen immediately. The staff member kept trying to ask ME whether I wanted to move up my appointment, be seen by a different doctor, etc. No, I wanted to ask a doctor whether this is something serious and urgent or not. Finally, she agreed to have the "on-call doctor" call me back. It has been 1-1/2 hours so far, and no one has called. This is rather stressful. If it is serious, I could end up losing my vision! Are they not calling back because it is not serious? If so, it would be nice if someone would let me know! Do they not understand what PATIENT CARE is? Don't ignore the bad reviews. I did because the office is close to my house (works well with my work schedule) and I figured LO Eye Care is a pretty big company so surely they'd be good? Not to mention, how bad could an optometrist really be? First appointment seemed promising. Optometrist did the actual test, not an assistant. I was hopeful. Then he told me that I'd have to make a second appointment to verify my prescription because the results weren't clear. Okay, weird, and I've never had that happen in the 20 years I've been wearing glasses but whatever. They schedule an appointment two weeks out. I figured it would be quick. They told me it would be quick. The assistant took me back to do the vision test again, then told me to wait in the waiting room for the doctor to verify the prescription. (I'm assuming that means another vision test, in which case, what was the point of the assistant?) I came back and there were several more people in the waiting room than had been there before but I figured since my appointment was earlier, I'd be fine. Nope. I sat there for over an hour as they called back people who had come after me. 1.5 hours after my original appointment time, I finally had to tell them I'd need to come back another day because I had to go to work. "Oh, sorry," was the response. I asked how long the appointment would be, and the receptionist said it should be a quick appointment "but it depends on how far behind they are and how many people are waiting." I'm no expert, but I feel like maybe you shouldn't overschedule in that case? I was pissed. They weren't helpful in getting me rescheduled with an appointment that would work with my schedule and I ended up having to schedule another appointment for two more weeks out. LOL Eye Care. Just like every other eye care place they are trying to sell high priced reading glasses. Just like lens crafters, they were surprised to find out I needed corrective lenses. Really, you mass sell reading glasses or something? They then got my prescription backwards and wanted me to take defective glasses home with me even after I told them I couldn't see anything with them. They re-did the exam and the doctor stated the prescription was written backward. So I get the second set and the blue blocker is missing from one of the sets. Now they want to charge $600 to put it on them. I told them the insurance was billed for blue blocker and they needed to fix them, and instead of listening so they could get it right, Brenna talked over top of me and blew me off. I called the Insurance and sure enough they were charged for Blue Blocker for both glasses. So the manager calls back and says Brenna was right, but they will add the blue blocker for free. Well, she was not right but I won't argue when they make it right. So far, the only place where my eye care was treated seriously was Holt Eye Care, which is where I need to go for now on. read more

This is the only place where I have been treated as a patient. They did various tests, explain each process separately .. Dr. Emilie Phillips is very good, tries everything in detail to explain and pleasantly answered all my questions. Best experience so far. Very often doctors when they realize that English is your second language do not want to waste time on you. This has been a bad experience from start to finish. 1 hr 45 min wait in the waiting room for my first appointment. I was told that they wanted to make sure I was dilated, come to find out the doctor wasn't in on time, the real problem. Got a prescription, ordered glasses, and just was told it's prly gonna take 17 total days to get them, not the 10 days I was guaranteed. Asked to cancel the order and the attendant didn't want to go through the hassle, clearly, from the tone of his voice. I will not be going back. Don't waste your time, better doctor and experiences to be had elsewhere. read more

I thought a while about writing a review on this location. I had spent 2 hours for a routine eye exam at the Sparrow location and was told it would be another 45min at least so see the physician. I'm a doctor and I needed to get back to work so I said I'd reschedule. When I did the very rude lady at the other location told me they didn't have any openings except on lake Lansing road. I told her when I scheduled this appointment I would not be repeating all the tests I had already done. The staff at this location are very nice but they told me they HAD to redo all the tests. I explained what happened and that when I scheduled the appointment. They left to talk to the doctor and came back and said they would have to repeat everything. I refused and told them I would need the doctor to tell me personally. Then they explained that he was not, in fact, in the building....35minutes after my scheduled appointment time? This physician has zero respect for me, my time or my health. I would never...NEVER treat any of my patients this poorly and unprofessionally. read more

Dr. Liu is the worst. Do NOT go see him. I was fit in day-of because of an emergency (I got in an accident that left me with a hematoma above my eye) and he was not kind. He told me no one would want "a girl with a scar" and interrupted all my questions. He was very rude and I would not go back to see him...ever. read more

I can understand an eye exam taking some time but my experience was ridiculous! My appointment was for 2:20 I checked in at 2:10 and filled out the paperwork before 2:20 and then sat in the waiting room until 2:50 when they finally took me to dilate my eyes and take a few tests. Then the nurse said it should take about 15 minuets but sense my eyes are blue they would try to get me back faster. Then I sat in the waiting room for an hour until they finally came and got me. I can understand if they were busy but they weren't and they told me 15 minuets and an hour is a lot longer then that so I was really disappointed. Then after I FINALLY get back to see the doctor it was a quick 5 minuet exam and I was sent back up front to pick out glasses and go home. That staff was all super friendly and good at what they do so I would recommend going here if you have a lot of time to kill. read more

I wish there were a rating higher than 5 stars! I had a bad experience at a nearby practice and decided to give L O Eye a chance. To my surprise, I was able to get an appointment in less than one day. The phone staff that scheduled me were incredibly helpful, pairing me with the right doctor and location based on my insurance and needs. I saw a Dr. Michelle LeTarte and she was amazing! I feel like I received a very thorough exam and never felt like she was in a hurry to get to the next patient. She explained the change in my prescription and while she thought I might benefit from a new pair of glasses, she left it entirely up to me and didn't pressure me. The office was clean and professional and I plan to return for all of my eye care needs...routine or otherwise. read more

I recently picked up my new contacts and glasses from L.O. Eye Care. I was starting to have trouble seeing road signs when driving and was concerned that maybe I would have to give up my contacts or be content with compromised reading. The change Dr Ebert made to my prescription was great. Road signs are much easier to see and my reading is great! I would definitely recommend Dr Ebert to anyone needing glasses or contacts! read more

Lansing Ophthalmology is a shady business. I went in for an eye exam, and they ran several vision tests on me, then I saw Dr. Liu for about 10 minutes. When I was trying to explain some of my concerns to Dr. Liu, he cut me off and said he was going to ask me a series of questions, and he expected just a "yes" or "no" answer. It was obvious that what I wanted to say was irrelevant to him. Afterward, he then asked me to come back for glaucoma testing. It was not explained to me why he thought I needed the glaucoma testing, but when I left the office, I noticed he wrote on the sheet, "borderline glaucoma findings," which greatly concerned me. I worried for the entire month until I returned for the scheduled glaucoma testing appointment. And, during the month of waiting, I received notice from my insurance company that they billed this visit for over $300! At my next visit that month later, the 4 glaucoma tests took about an hour and included one for peripheral vision. They also numbed my eyes to do a pressure test. They then took me to a waiting room and said Dr. Liu would discuss the results of the glaucoma tests. About 15 minutes later, I was told that Dr. Liu was "running 40 minutes late," plus had to see 5 patients before me, so I concluded it would be at least 1-1/2 hours before I could discuss the findings. Consequently, I had to leave and make ANOTHER appointment to discuss the results with Dr. Liu. Surprisingly, they were able to get me in the next day. That next day, they numbed my eyes again for ANOTHER pressure test. To check my eye pressure 2 days in a row, I figured my eye pressure must be a real problem! However, when Dr. Liu walked in and spent about 10 minutes with me (some of that time where he examined me again with some eye machine), he never said anything about me having any eye pressure problems. (So, obviously, they checked my eye pressure 2 days in a row so they could bill the insurance company twice.) Dr. Liu is a very superior acting, condescending ophthalmologist. He did not explain ANY of the test results to me, just said I didn't have glaucoma. He started to shake my hand to dismiss me, and was irritated when I had questions, even though on this particular day, there were no patients waiting, so he should have had some time to talk to me. I was only able to ask a question or two, then he reached out his hand again to end the visit. I left not knowing ANY of the specifics of any of the tests, even though that was the ONLY reason I was there to see him. If the tests were ok, why couldn't they just telephone and tell me that? (Because, they can then bill the insurance for another office visit.) When I left, Dr. Liu said he'd like to see me again in 6 months. Why? There was no reason, except to bill the insurance company again! I would NOT recommend this place or Dr. Liu. He has no interest in his patients and will not spend any time discussing anything. It is also apparent that the glaucoma tests were also done to milk the insurance company. read more

I'd give it a zero. I had a full medical exam which included a vision exam and glasses prescription (if needed)done 2 years ago. They are in my network (bcn). No referral required. Just a 15$ copay. I got a call from them asking if I want to schedule another annual exam with Dr. Lang. I asked if they are still in network and same copay. I also asked if it would d be a full exam like last time and they confirmed yes to all the above. I came and I wasn't happy with the arrogant & condescending Dr or the nurse prior. When the Dr asked if with the glasses he was trying on me (both right and left sides) I could see clearer, I said no: the two together weren't clear, fuzzy and straining, so he removed the glasses and asked me to look at the letters without any glasses (iam very shortsighted) and asked "how about now? You like that better? How about without glasses?" Knowing that I can't see the small letters at all without glasses. He removed the glasses said that TWICE! What an asshole! Does the fact that I can't see the small letters without glasses mean that I shouldn't convey to him I was having a double vision with the pair of glasses he was trying on me? Is it a dare? What's his problem? Like I should just thank my lucky stars i could see anything and anyway with the glasses he was trying on me. Then he said the double vision was from the drops that dilated your eyes. I asked him specific questions given i had a lasilk done 20 years ago that he couldnt answer and showed no understanding that "vision aberrations" could exist with a 6/6 vision or answer my questions scientifically about the impact of wearing lenses given my vision history(all in my chart).The visit got worse! At checkout they tell me I owe 75$ coz Dr. Lang is not a medical doctor but an optometrist and my insurance doesn't cover that and he billed it as a routine eye exam. Why didn't they schedule me for a full medical exam which is what they actually gave me and which is covered 100% by my insurance but they decided to bill it as a routine eye exam and why didn't tell me that they decide to schedule and bill patients for what is good for their pocket--as a routine eye exam by an optometrist, which is not what I asked for? In fact during the appointment the nurse who did the first part of the exam confirmed this I was a full medical exam. And it was. And why didn't they tell me that this Dr Lang is not a. "Dr" to start with? I was about to pay but when i asked to be given the manager's name and phone number so I can talk to them, the receptionist would only give me their general card. No accountability. So I voided the transaction and will call and make sure that i speak to someone in charge to set that right and ensure no other patient would be forced into this situation. I'll contact bcn too and report it to primary care at OLIN so they refer no one to that office! read more

First of all let me mention the positive experiences I had at Lansing Ophthalmology. I was treated for cataracts. My doctor was very professional in demeanor. Acted caring and interested in providing me the best possible medical care. Replaced my eye lenses surgically. I am very happy with the result. I give my doctors and all nurses 5 stars. The vast majority of the support staff is competent, well trained, and professional. Now let's talk about my eyeglasses. The lenses in my eyes were replaced with artificial lens that correct so I can read small print without the need of eyeglasses. Everything wonderful up till this point. To the best of my knowledge I was never examined by a traditional optometrist. Digital equipment was always used to determine my eyeglass prescription first and then the more traditional changing of the lens by a person. After my surgery I was given a prescription for eyeglasses that had a reading bifocal addition of +2.50. Now remember I have surgically implanted reading lens in both eyes. I called to question this addition to my new prescription. The women who both my wife and I talked with was convinced I still needed reading glasses and came very close to yelling at us on the phone. Now if my new surgically implanted lens corrected my vision to be able to see far away. She was completely correct. But my lenses correct for reading. The person that handles patient questions for my doctor called me a few times upon request. I unfortunately missed the calls. When I decided to return the call and speak with the individual. The person who answered the phone could not find my name or birthdate in their computer system. Yes.That's right. That is why I decided to write this review. The day of each of my eye surgeries. The staff at the surgical center had my address and cell phone number incorrect on their paperwork. Even though it was correctly entered on their patient website information service. Morning of the first surgery I told the receptionist of the incorrect personal information. I believed it was corrected. It was not. Morning of second eye surgery I was told I had missed my appointment and had hung up on both the receptionist and nurse. I did not hang up on the receptionist or nurse because they called the wrong number. I was fitted in that same morning for surgery and my doctors and nurses did a wonderful job for me. You would think the support staff could just check and verify both my cell phone number and address? In the past when I was fitted for glasses at Lansing Ophthalmology I was told by the examiners I do not need prismes. I said I do. I was examined by their experts and told I do not. I complained that my vision was not right and was given many tests. Nothing could ever be found as a problem. I went to a locally licensed optometrist. The optometrist fitted me for glasses. Did not use the new digital equipment to analyse my eyesight. The sphere, cylinder, axis numbers were different than on my Lansing Ophthalmology eyeglass prescription. And best of all both lenses in my eyeglasses now have prisms. read more
