Classic inner city walk-in Mexican restaurant. Uninspiring entrance, plenty of tables inside and clean. No bad smells. Large menu. They are open 7 days every week. I saw an online article in Westword magazine yesterday that this long-time restaurant is being impacted by the BRT project on Colfax Ave. I arrived just before 11am to get their breakfast burrito with egg, potato and chorizo smothered with green chili and topped with cheese for only $10.99; The burrito was freshly prepared in about 10 minutes. Large burrito for the price!! The green chile was orange hued with substantial amounts of green chile and spicy. No skimping on the ingredients. I added a coffee which was fresh.

Machaca breakfast plate. Plenty for one or to share.

I've been visiting this place for over 30 years! The food is delicious, the service is like being served by a family member! I love the ambience - it feels and smells like the old days of homemade Mexican food DONE right ;) - good people, and just an overall feeling of love and acceptance while enjoying one of the best places to eat in Los Angeles :) one of my favorites is their Machaca breakfast! You must try it! Trust me, you won't regret it!

Colfax street can be sketch... but if you're in the area and want to leave full and relatively satisfied this may be your place. When I think of hierarchy of Mexican food in Denver I would slate their wet burrito as slightly above average. Their prices are in line with chipotle $15 for a burrito - and I like their salsas. Their burrito is a little more simplistic - heavy on the meat, low on the veggies, and unique ingredients but hey that's sometimes all you need! Wish they had a salsa bar.

Stopped there this AM and couldn't wait to share. The best menudo I have had in a very long time! And the grilled corn tortillas, yum! My husband had the smothered chorizo breakfast burrito and loved it! Conveniently located kitty corner from the Basilica. Can't wait to return!

I arrived here about 30 minutes before they were closing. The dining area is somewhat spacious but I'm not a big fan of their set up. You order at the counter, if you want a drink, you can grab it from the refrigerator on your left. You can then take a seat in the other room, and they'll bring the food to your table. When you're finished you go back to the counter and pay. Very unique. I was pretty much by myself when I ate until a party of 3 came about 10 minutes before they were closing. I was basically done with my food at that point. One thing I notice is that they had aguas frescas in the dining room, not the room where you order your food. Probably would have ordered an horchata if I had seen it when ordering. I ordered their Smothered burrito with carne Asada. They used cheap taco meat for the carne Asada, so it isn't a true carne Asada and it was served with rice and beans inside. The burrito itself was good, just wish the chili would have been a little bit spicier. Overall it was a pretty good meal for a decent price. They weren't very welcoming and they didn't check up on you to make sure everything was ok. It was missing the humbling Mexican welcoming one would expect in a restaurant like this. I would definitely still consider returning though.

The sweet potato still my favorite dish, but I hand to day the queso funfido from the happy hour menu was a close 2nd. If you go 2-5pm, I can't recommend this enough. You have to get it. Same as my 1st time going, I love this restaurant for their great dishes and flavor profiles. I absolutely feel like I'm paying for the food, and not any atmosphere or showsmenship, which for me is an important factor when recommending a restaurant. Only small detail, we got the ceviche as our 4th dish. Given that is sweet due to the coconut milk, I feel this should have been last as a kind-of desert-like dish. Either way, still an absolute gem and must in town

The quality has never slipped and every menu change feels exciting and somehow even better than the last. The standouts are always the scallops and the sweet potato! Not ashamed to say I think about these two dishes all the time... And whatever fish they feature as a main is consistently incredible (it's been halibut recently). The chef's counter is hands-down the best experience. It's intimate and such a fun way to interact with the chefs. Also love that they offer an NA sparkling rosé! This is honestly pretty rare. This place deserves every bit of recognition and praise it gets. One of the most consistently exceptional dining experiences in Denver!!

We went on…read moretaco Tuesday and had no problem getting bar seating (or there were a few tables available) around 5pm but I noticed after 6pm people were waiting for seating. The food was delicious! We got $2 chips and salsa off the happy hour menu and the queso con soyrizo (not on HH menu) which was served with warm tortillas. Honestly we probably didn't need all that because the tacos were so good I could've just filled up on more of the tacos, but still was a great meal! I ordered the lengua, pastor, and taco special (breaded shrimp). They were all so good. Think taco quality of a good street taco spot but with the ambiance of a cute tex mex bar. The bartender was great and made a solid marg ($8 on happy hour). You get a great deal on taco Tuesday but I'm sure you'd get great service and quality any day of the week!

Good meal but a lot of work and hassle!…read more Very limited parking. Left side of the building are a few parking spots shared by several businesses. Good luck getting a spot. Then you are driving the neighborhood hoping to find a spot. Finally parked and walked to the restaurant. Host told me it would be 30 minutes but the actual wait was 50 minutes. Spend so much time parking and then waiting, at what point do you give up and leave empty handed? Restaurant is VERY LOUD. Finally got a table and ordered OFF MENU. Server agreed to substitute shrimp for my enchiladas and they were good! Fresh corn tortillas were the highlight. Ordered tres leches cake and enjoyed it too. Was a nice meal but just not worth all the hassle.
