Agua Fresca Grande / Large Fresh Flavored Water Pitaya
    Sulema L.

I always go here for ice cream their pie de fresa is the best strawberry cheesecake in town. Today i tried their agua de pitaya and im obsessed 10/10 especially in this heat very refreshing their staff/service is always so nice and everything is made in house so thats a big plus. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I wish the air was turned a little lower just because its pretty hot outside i like to feel the freshness when you walk into a building.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Horrible customer service. They didn't let me eat inside 40 mins before closing because they were going to "close soon"

I like milk and its by-products, especially ice cream so this place seemed like a natural place to visit. And, even though it was small, and even though it is not in anyone's map of California places to see before one dies, this place was a tourist attraction that I will remember till the day I can no longer enjoy milk and the mustache it leaves behind. When we arrived to the spot there was a sole attendant, his name was Anthony and he was endearing to the max. I explained to him an abridge story of our road trip and why we made it a spot to visit. He was like really, like he could not believe that this was an intentional stop on a multi hour road trip. I was like, in my mind, this is not a Thrifty ice cream run bro, this is like a milk experience, of course it is a spot on a road trip. What I did say was like--- you are wearing a uniform, (like one of those that (I Love) Lucy waited for in the 1950's), and there was a window into a factory with workers producing milk, and you have souvenirs, thus the joint is a stop to engage with, a stop to plan for, a stop that naturally fits in someone's road trip's tour. After I said a version of all of this, his smile and eyes became wide, like he really was understanding that his presence and this joint was not just a local milk joint but could be a pit stop that can go white with fame. My intention was to get a milkshake but Anthony explained that they did not sell any. I mean I accepted it quickly, but with some lament as a milkshake is my favorite ice-cream by-product, but I made due with what I could. First, I got a chocolate milk in a bottle. Anthony was kind enough to open it for me. I used to be a big fan of chocolate milk, cause it was a staple in the school's free lunch program and I always found it refreshing and sweet and cooling. Which makes me want to define the difference between refreshing and cooling in terms of taste. I guess refreshing makes one go ahhh like after taking a sip of cold cola, and something cooling makes someone feel the crisp of cold within the body, like eating a chilled lemon paleta/popsicle. And on this day, I drank a bottle of milk and found it to be a nostalgic snack down to the last sip. It is important to note that Denise noticed that they had flavors like Orange Blossom milk, and banana ice cream flavors. So this places dares enough to think outside the box or should I say milk carton? Anthony was also lovely enough to bring out samples of their packaged ice cream. I will be honest I cannot remember all the flavors I tried but I think there was cookie and cream. And the ice cream tasted rich, deep, and fresh, like it been churned recently for pure enjoyment. Like it was meant to be good first, then sold next. And thus at its core it was artisan, not mass produced. I guess that is why they explain their products to be "farm direct." Since I could not get a shake or a cone, I decided to get one of their ice cream sandwiches. I went with what I tasted and knew to be good---- the cookies and cream. This decision was also based on the cookies they used. I reviewed the picture but the cookie was not listed. I ate the sandwich outside in the car, and every bite was a morsel of smooth crunch and velvety ice cream. It was familiar and new, it was reason enough to want to visit the place again. In fact I tried too, on the way back from the road trip but it was closed on that day. Too bad, I have put it on my return spots, I found it to be that wonderful, but again milk, ice cream, and all that it stems from it, I am a fan of, so it makes sense for me. But until then, I got the sweatshirt I got from this place to remember it!

A good pit stop for a sweet treat in Tulare…read more The parking lot was spacious, and the interior was much larger than I expected. There was also a connected taqueria, though no one was staffing the counter during my visit. One downside was the lack of a clearly displayed menu with prices and offerings. Instead, most of the options were showcased through the display cases, which were filled with premade fruit cups and a variety of ice cream flavors. I opted for the fresas con crema, which arrived in a massive cup filled to the brim. It was a bit difficult to eat with the small spoon provided, but I certainly appreciated the generous portion. The strawberries tasted fresh and naturally sweet, balancing the rich sweetness of the crema. All of the granola was concentrated on top rather than layered throughout, which made the texture less consistent. I would have enjoyed a bit more granola overall, as the crunch was one of my favorite parts of the dessert. While the price was slightly higher than at similar shops, the portion size helped justify the cost. I would appreciate more transparent pricing and a clearer menu, but the employees were friendly and helpful throughout my visit. They also stay open later than many nearby dessert spots, making this a convenient place to satisfy a late night craving for fresas con crema.

There were also bagged chips, cubed fruit and Tajin candies on display. Service is always quick. *Aguachile: plump shrimp, cucumber, and avocado in a cup with spicy water. This surprisingly packed a lot of heat so it went well with the fruit. The cucumbers soaked up the peppery seasoning well. The shrimp was tender and sweet. The most refreshing version I've had in the Central Valley. *Ceviche: shrimp, tomato, cucumber, onion and avocado cooked in citrus. The container looked small but it was filling. Each serving was topped with a whole avocado. The shrimp was similarly tender and the vegetables were fresh. I prefer my ceviche to be on the sour side and this gave me the pucker I wanted. Served with 3 grocery store tostadas. I wished these were made fresh because I've been stuck with stale ones before. *Escamocha: came with a choice of ice cream. I chose their walnut flavor and resembled a nuttier butter pecan. The fruit was chopped finely and was sweetened by the cream. The almonds provided a good crunch. Surprisingly mild tasting compared to the fresas con crema. *Fresas Con Crema: the serving size was a bit small for $9 but it was creamy and sweet. The strawberries were plump from soaking in the condensed milk. These were topped with almonds and coconut flakes. Really addicting. Not fancy but the seafood here is better executed than most restaurants in the Central Valley. I just wished the tostadas were fresher to match the quality of the shrimp and produce.

Even with a busy rainy evening and the downtown Farmers Market going on, the line moved quickly thanks to an efficient and hardworking staff of three. We tried the Salted Caramel, Strawberry Wafer, and the Drum Roll with dairy-free vanilla from the Not So Secret Menu. The ice cream itself was delicious and definitely lived up to expectations. While the dairy-free vanilla wasn't quite as good as I remembered, it was still a nice option to have. This place is always a hit with the kids, they love watching the ice cream being mixed and created right in front of them. The shop was very clean, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. There were only 2 the night we went and the one that was doing the rolling wasn't too in tuned with putting just a smile or interacting just focused on making the orders which customers have straight view of them and with me having kids could've made us a little more happier with service experience. Other than inside the ice cream was delicious and is something we have rarely come across since majority ice cream spots don't primarily use the rolling area since they offer tub scooped and sticks
