It didn't have the fuel efficiency if a compact car and it was much larger than I expected. The window visibility was lacking so I returned it. The clerk said my only other choice was a Kio with a boxy build. It was actually a compact SUV but I snatched it as it was better than the first car in many ways. Well, I can't complain too much since I only paid $40/ day but it wasn't fuel efficient.

When I came across Akamai, I called and they not only had cars available, they were reasonably priced, and the costumer service was outstanding. I couldn't figure out how to get my phone connected to the navigation system after awhile and Jon helped me and called someone else to also get extra help and got me all setup. Reservation, pick up, and drop off was seamless and they offered to let me park or overnight if needed. The car was clean, newer, and in great shape. I would highly recommend! U was able to walk there within minutes to get the car or drop it off. Just the perfect way to save us some $$ I will for sure come back next trip to rent from you!! This is a must try. Side note: uber/lyft round trip for us would have costed us the same price of the rental if not more, we were able to skip the valet fees at the resort, take the tour as long as we want and just loved this setup. We had an upgrade and got a sedan/coup upon pick up. I was able to change the drop off location, since I was staying in Waikiki; and it was more convenient to drop off near the hotel. The Gal at counter in the Airport was super nice, and the Mobile app made it a breeze to pick up the car. Returning the car was a little confusing since I did not know where the office inside the Marriott was. I was able to ask the concierge where the drop off box was since they were closed on the weekend. Overall great experience from start to finish from booking and returning the car rental.

Alamo did not have a line when I got there and I had a very pleasant time with Lexi. She and the other staff were friendly, bright, and all around a hoot to talk to and check-in with, they made the experience great. Checking-in was easy! Their screen is touchscreen so you can sign with your finger. The car: we went up the escalators and we were able to choose between a 4Runner and a Volkswagen. We chose the 4Runner for more trunk space. Car was spacious and we got out of the garage easily. The car came with a full tank of gas. I did not pump gas prior to returning the car due to lack of time and poor planning on my part. We were close to almost a half tank when I returned it. Alamo charged me $44 for the gas which I found fair. I would definitely book with Alamo again the next time I want to get a car rental in Oahu!

The process was quick and easy and as smooth as possible (considering it was peak hour). The vehicle had a few scrapes, scratches and dents (I made sure to take pictures of my rental from all angles for documentation). Highly recommended! Just an FYI. I paid a little more than I wanted to because I added some extra insurance. You can never be too safe when traveling, especially if you have a family. When we entered the Budget office at the airport I was asked about additional insurance for our car. I at first said YES, but when I questioned the agent exactly what that covered, I realized my own insurance would suffice, so I said NO - no additional insurance was needed. BUT....I was billed an additional $280 on my MasterCard bill. When I called to contest it I was told I could get back half my money, but that was it. I asked to talk to supervisors, dept. heads, etc.... - ALL GAVE THE SAME ROTE ANSWER - YOU CAN HAVE HALF YOUR MONEY BACK. After a few weeks of fighting it, I gave in and just paid the extra $140. From Hawaii we flew to Seattle to visit a friend. My friend's daughter told me the exact thing happened to her at the exact same Budget car rental at the airport in Lihue, Kauai. SO BUYER BEWARE.... Not only is this rental car much closer to the Cutter Dodge dealership, but the service was OUTSTANDING!!!! Upon walking into the rental car agency, the friendly clerk greeted me & processed my rental within 5 minutes. I was totally stunned at how efficient she did this, and upon having me sign a few electronic papers, she then told me to go into an elevator & head up to the "L' floor of the garage. Upon heading up to the "L" floor (or top floor of the garage), another clerk had my vehicle ready, and upon doing a quick look around the vehicle, I just jumped in, and took off. Easy peasy my friends!!! When I returned the rental today, I didn't even need to go into the Enterprise office, as the clerk who processed my eental vehicle return in the garage, did all of the closing of the tab. To top it off, the staff even gave me a ride back to the Cutter Dodge dealership! There's something to be said of great service.........that's how you keep loyal customers! We needed our car early for an excursion that we needed to get to. When we picked up our car, the service was fast and friendly. We got the car we reserved, and it was clean with a full tank of gas. Another plus to renting from this Enterprise location is that it was about $100 cheaper than renting from the one at our hotel.

The "manager" Andrew, accused me of aggressing an employee by saying the word "crap". I did not say…read morethat, I was not even angry or frustrated. He came out of nowhere to tell me, aggressively, why they need to check an id that had been scanned multiple times previously. I don't understand what even happened! Because I was confused and upset about being wrongfully attacked, I asked him to clarify his accusation. He escalated by repeatedly telling me, "you can't even admit that you said it" and I said, yes, because I don't ! He would not engage with me or my husband in coming to a meaningful understanding. My husband and two teenage children both said they did not hear me say this and came to my defense. He would not admit he could have misheard. He shut me down and repeated that I was denying it and that I couldn't admit that I "cursed" at his employee. He ended with sarcastically saying, "why don't you leave and enjoy your vacation." I don't say the word crap, because it's a crap curse word. I use better, more adult curse words. If I was frustrated, the room would know. What manager is trained to escalate? This person should not be in a front facing position. I'm kinda floored that he chooses to be in customer service, because if he is starting g a fight with a not that annoyed middle aged lady, how does he handle an enraged man? I doubt he would have had this interaction with a man.
