My plate came with a good portion of griot- fried cubes of pork. The pork is slightly dry and chewy on the exterior, but it's well seasoned and the fatty pieces are juicy and melt in your mouth. The pikliz is acidic and spicy and refreshing as a complement to a plate of heavy, fried food. It also comes with a large sausage, scored before cooking which improved the texture. The sausage was meaty and rich. I also had a large quantity of fried green plantains. These are generally not my favorite thing, but this version was very well cooked and not overly dry inside. My favorite part of the meal was a completely new item for me- Accra. These are long, wedge shaped fritters made of malanga, a starchy root vegetable similar to yucca.
