It is tricky rating this uberly cute cafe. You can park around the block. You enter a well lit cafe with local artwork displayed on your way to the ordering counter located further in the cafe. Drip coffee has been unavailable after 2:30pm over the weekend, but the barista will offer americano instead. This is a nice gesture, and even better if you prefer your drink to be piping hot. We have only been here for cakes. Great for a sweet tooth! The frosting usually has hints of cream cheese. They change out the flavors, so certain flavors and themes you see that day may be all there is. I was excited to try vegan options. Sadly the only vegan pastry was baklava and molasses cookies. Cakes might have foil wrapped candy, so please be aware and check...my significant other ate a wrapper without paying attention!! but man the frosting and sugar toppings get heavy Red velvet was decadent!! Carrot cake was decadent too, with soft raisins and I loved the coconut shreds..this was a unique and gorgeous to look at! Mango ginger cake was a nice change...it was more mango. One of my favorites places to eat in Carson City! I love the Greek salad and Falafel wrap with fries! I'm not much of a desert eater but they have a wide variety of treats that look amazing! A friend introduced this place to me. I can say, my life just changed! The outside was normal, but as I entered their building, I just experienced a vision of heaven on Earth! I tried their burger today and it was delicious. I just moved from California, and I usually pay $18 for a burger that's half the size of theirs! I was so happy with the prices. I also tried their vegan gluten free soup of the day. Loved it!!! Their coffee was crafted with artistry and their pastries looked so delicious. I wish I had several stomachs to try everything, but I guess I have to come back every day and experience them one by one. I appreciate Shawn to introduce me to this place. I had the chocolate decadent for dessert and it was rich and creamy and so chocolatey! I went here because I love me some falafel and they have falafel wraps. I started to be good and order in on a lettuce wrap vs pita, but then quickly got my senses back and ordered it on the pita. The sandwich was filling and good but a tad dry and expensive. The sandwich is served a la carte and you must even pay extra for tzatziki sauce. They should have had tahini sauce or something on it to moisten it. But the flavor was nice, the tomatoes were fresh and overall I enjoyed it. Now for the bad, the pumpkin cheesecake was a mess. Yal know I really love me some sugar and all things fall (Pumpkin Spice Everything), but this cheesecake was not it. It tasted quite odd and had even odder lumps in it. We have been looking forward to visiting LA Bakery for a couple of years now, and we finally took the breakfast plunge. I have to say my wife and I were not fully satisfied with the food or the service. When I go out for a breakfast I am hoping for something that I would not normally prepare at home, and while the menu looked tasty the final plates were disappointing. Deep fried unseasoned potato cubes are lazy and nasty no matter where you get them, no different here, everything else on the plates was meh. Plastic tubs of jelly at the self-serve, commissary style, and the vibe went down from there. While the staff seemed engaged and helpful, they certainly did not go out of their way to make our visit enjoyable, and never asked how our food was, maybe that's why they keep serving those dining hall potatoes. read more

4/15/17 My mother-in-law purchased a apple pie from here. I was very impressed with the little shop when we pulled up. What a small, cute and quaint restaurant. They had a large selection of tasty bakery treats. We purchased the apple pie which looked not only beautiful but tasty too. It had a beautiful crust of cookie cutter flowers that were semi stacked on one another we couldn't wait to try it. I must say it was more beautiful than it was tasty. The crust was far too thick. There was very little fruit inside the pie. The crust was not sweet or flavorful. It made me wonder if the person who made my pie was new at making pies. I don't think I have ever had such a thick pie crust both on top and bottom to where there was little place for filling. The filling when you could pull it out from the crust was flavorful. See my picture of the pie. I saw so many tasty things in the store that I want to go back and try them. As based on my smell and the looks of the other items I think our pie was a fluke. read more

Coffee in its most Americanized form is prevalent in Carson. Especially on the weekends. All of the places in town do a good job serving the daily drug of choice. Sure it's been stepped on, but thy will get you your fix with a smile. LA Bakery on the other hand steps up the game. Just a bit better and some better milk steaming skills makes this my go to in Carson. Of course it doesn't hurt that they are one of the best Bakeries in Northern Nevada. Chocolate Croissants. Fluffy scones. Quiche made from heaven. All these things and more make this a dangerous place for me to go. I do grumble about my health issues but this place, I pray that in the afterlife I am able to visit this place a few more times with no dread of spiked insulin levels or carb coma. I love LA Bakery. My first time coming here was probably 6-7 years ago, when I was in middle school. My friend's family took us here and the first thing I got was a delightful salad and a pastry. Since then, this has been a popular lunch and breakfast spot for my family and I. I have tried a lot of their sandwiches and have loved them all! My favorite at the moment is their BLT, it is delicious. Pairs well with their fantastic selection of drinks and sweets to go with. Always try to get here early to see their selection of pastries before they're all gone! Their Macarons are amazing and I adore their strawberry cream cheese pastries. The atmosphere is bright and cheery, the staff is very friendly, and it has always been clean every time I've visited. My steak sandwich had melted cheese, sliced steak and a soft piece of red pepper that worked well. Wife loved her vegetarian sandwich on gluten free bread. The food is great the desserts are yummy! I came here today for lunch. I had the 1/2 sandwich & 1/2 salad. With that, the only salad option is "mixed green" which was super fresh but nothing amazing. My turkey melt was REALLY surprisingly scrumptious. I ordered the banana cream pie dessert and it was AMAZING! It was $6 & something which was really reasonable considering the size and quality. Haven't been in awhile but used to love this place. Stopped to get a box of pastries for a meeting. Huge mistake! Pastries look amazing. The service was dreadful. Ordered a 16 oz latte with 2 extra shots to go. Literally 3-5 other customers. Only one other espresso drink. Waited and waited. Barista stopped to serve food, answer phone. 2 other people there just chatting. Not sure what that was about. Finally was handed a 12 ounce drink. When I asked about the 16 ounce drink I was told that's the only size to go they had. When I pointed out I paid for a 16 ounce and 2 extra shots. She just shrugged and walked away. Pastry boxes were dirty and had huge grease stains on them. Huge disappointment. Won't be back. Too bad cause it used to be great and I'd send friends. Thanks for your reply. It's a cute bakery with plenty of seating, self serve coffee/tea bar, large selection of pastries (delicious by the way), yummy made to order coffee and breakfast/lunch menu. I went to the grand opening of Sierra Nevada Ear, Nose & Throat on Medical Parkway in Carson City on Wednesday, April 24, 2019. The reception after was catered by Carson City's own LA Bakery. This was my first experience wit LA Bakery, and I can say the food was amazing! First, I watched the two workers wheel in the food about 20 minutes before the ribbon cutting. Perfect timing. The food itself, which was served outside in the rear outdoor seating area, consisted of: 1) grilled chicken slices 2) beef slices with a cold vegetable garnish in the middle 3) cold vegetable medley salad with sliced carrots, zucchini, roasted red peppers, grilled onions, broccoli, and oil 4) salad with Mandarin oranges, feta cheese, walnuts, cranberries, cherry tomatoes, and spinach 5) garden salad with cherry tomatoes, sliced red onions, Romaine lettuce, radicchio, Mandarin oranges, sliced carrots, and cucumbers 6) three types of rolls: brown, white, and wheat 7) cookie assortment (double chocolate, oatmeal raisin, cranberry vanilla, vanilla chip) 8) fruit assortment (kiwi slices, orange wedges, cantaloupe, strawberries, red seedless grapes) 9) two types of dressing: ranch and balsamic Napkins of two different colors, tongs, bowls, tins, utensils, and plates were provided. The only negative is that I didn't see any butter for the rolls. I savored every bite. I wanted to go back for seconds, since there was plenty of left overs, but since I was in polite society, I restrained myself, lol. Some guy had knocked over most of the knives, so there were none left, so I used my napkin to hold the beef as I pulled it off into bites with my fork. I was able to slice the chicken just with my fork though. I definitely would recommend LA Bakery if you have any catering needs. read more

I had the goat cheese burger, which was quite good. However, the "tiramisu" dessert was not anything like tirimisu, nor was it very good at all. What it actually consists of is grocery store bakery cake frosting, most likely vegetable shortening based, in a chocolate cup and topped with a stale cookie for $6.49. I was so disappointed. It looks so pretty, but it is really just a giant serving of frosting. Please don't make anymore of these. You are better than that! I have heard nothing but wonderful things about this place from my co-workers. If I am in town again, I will definitely return to LA Bakery ..... there are so many items on the menu I want to try! I have come here a few times now at the new location for breakfast and each time it has been solid. I have tried their Breakfast Burrito, Wrap, and Breakfast Bagel. Their new locations absolutely beautiful and clean with lots of natural light and lots of seating something the old spot had almost none of. I have yet to try their lunch but I do plan to give that a shot eventually. The only gripe I have with their breakfast is the amount of cheese that they use in all their items. It's a little much and takes away from everything else rather than improve. Also their house potatoes the one time I got them were extremely greasy. I'm assuming it was just a bad one time thing but have yet to try them again so can't say with assurance. The Good Morning Bagel w/ light cheese and extra toasted hasn't disappointed. read more

I found myself in Carson City on Saturday around lunchtime and LA Bakery popped up in my Yelp app when I consulted it. I honestly had not even heard of it before, but I am glad that I have now. I ordered a Salmon Melt and a cup of Tomato Basil Soup, which was the soup of the day. They both have tremendous flavor. The melt was actually quite a bit off-center and all but about one big bite of the salmon was on one half of the sandwich, as well as only a bit of the avocado on that side. I can totally understand that the salmon was only "so" big, which honestly was big enough... just not as large as the really big bread. It would just be great if they would simply center it a lot better before pressing. The soup was amazing, but I didn't realize that my small cup was something like $4.75. This, added to the cost of my sandwich and my can of soda, really took my total over what I expected to pay for a lunch. I would definitely order the soup again, but as a full bowl (for about $2 more) and probably share something else with a friend or something. After my tasty lunch, I got a few goodies "to go" to share with my guys at home. Those also were quite pricey, but the Chocolate Cups were especially totally worth it! These could very easily be shared... not necessarily because of the size, but because of how rich they are. My son and I had to eat ours in parts with a few hours between. They are THAT rich, but OH. SO. TASTY!!! ...and talk about cute! Check out the picture! The cup and spoon are totally edible dark chocolate filled with some amazing chocolate mousse. I shared the Carrot Cake the next day with my hubby and son. It would have been best to share with one other person instead of two. I absolutely loved the amount of big, fat, juicy raisins in this. Oh my! So, the verdict is: It is a bit out of my usual price range, but worth it from time to time. Their breakfasts look a bit more in my range (mostly because they include some of the usual combination types of plates and not all ala cart). They only serve breakfast until a certain time in the morning and I was just a bit late. They definitely have food that you don't get just anywhere. My previous review was quite some times ago and I felt it necessary to update my review. Now that the restaurant is bigger, I'm so much happier with the food selection and pastry selection. This place is really good and I enjoy sitting and relaxing in the dining room. The reason I didn't give five stars is because the tables are not six feet apart which is very frustrating. I've also seen numerous customers come in without wearing their masks and they haven't been told to put one on. I've also seen people walk up to the register (while sitting down to eat) or the water/condiment station without their masks. It can be very frustrating as this is a mandate and the employees should be enforcing this rule along with separating the tables by six feet. read more

I order the Southern Omelet. It had bacon, roasted bell peppers, avocado, and mozzarella cheese. The flavor went well together and the price wasn't bad either. All of their omelet actually all cost the same. The service was pretty normal. You order and pay at the counter, you get a number for your order, you get your own water, and seat yourself. I really liked the atmosphere there. All of their baked goods looked amazing. I highly recommend if you need a cute cafe to go to with quality food. read more

Very good sandwiches. I had come here for a to-go sandwich on the recommendation of a local book merchant. Oh, my, but was this a great suggestion! My travel companion and I wanted to get the fixings for a picnic lunch at Lake Tahoe,so we got our sandwiches here and our beers at "Just Brew It~" across the street. The tuna sandwich on rye was made with their own house-made bread and very large and delicious. And filling! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone passing through and looking for a good lunch spot. The inside of the business was very pleasant and nicely air-conditioned.
