Blind Dog has done some remodeling since my first review... they now have some alternative seating options and have gotten rid of the kids' play area, which was a favorite of ours when visiting with our kids. The coffee here is still remarkable, and they have added a larger selection of beans, pods, and coffee accessories. Service is still about the same. Friendly but can take a long time, especially if you order food or something that comes out of the back. Still probably the best speciality coffee shop in the Carson Valley area. read more

I stopped by after a morning dental appointment for a coffee and a bagel. I'll admit I'm not used to coffee shop prices since I usually make my own espresso at home--but putting that aside, I'll focus on my order. The bagel ($6) was decent, but probably not something I'd order again. They source their bagels from Desert Sun Bagel in Reno, and maybe the jalapeño cheddar just wasn't their standout flavor. I'm a big fan of Tahoe Bagel, so that's the bar I tend to compare against. For coffee, I ordered the Oh Goodness Latte ($7.25) (honey, cinnamon, vanilla, and oat milk), and it was very good. I'll likely stop in again after future dental appointments, though it's a bit tucked away compared to some of the more convenient drive-thru coffee spots in the area. read more

We are visiting from Phoenix and staying in Gardnerville and looked forward to trying this place out. They have a very spacious inside area as well as outside seating. We ordered a pour over which is large enough for two people. The coffee cake was pretty good as well. It's a very nice location with clean restrooms and friendly staff. We enjoyed talking with Tate who did our pour over. We actually came back in the afternoon for a Turkish coffee, but the machine wasn't working properly so had another pour over. We Stopped in for coffee and behold this big beautiful pistachio croissant that caught my eye! As did the Ube croix. They were a little on the pricier side, $10 a piece. Both were good but that pistachio croissant is worth every penny in my opinion! It is packed full of luscious pistachio cream! There was Not even room for air lol! It is very green but it adds to the whimsy presentation. The flavor was exactly what a pistachio lover dreams of! The Ube was good but definitely smaller for the same cost. I will be coming back! the service was great, drinks were exceptional but the food was outstanding. overall it is a very cute and very clean coffee shop. loved the aesthetic of the place, and loved that there was outdoor seating option. i was a little misinformed when looking at the online menu, i thought the velvet latte would have caffeine, hence "latte" but it turned out to just be milk and red velvet. however, that was my fault for not reading the menu close enough. i brought this up to the barista making the drinks and she was very kind and offered me some espresso to add to my drink for my misunderstanding which i really appreciated. before tip, my total came out to $45 for all 4 items. read more

Received a gift card and thought I'd try it. Got the Blind dog toast and a turmeric latte. The toast was ok I was really looking forward to having an actual poached egg with the runny yolk but it was almost hard boiled. And the turmeric latte was not good was very grainy could hardly swallow it. Usually I love turmeric lattes. I wanted it iced but the barista said she didn't know how to make it. So I got it warm and it was just the powder slightly mixed with milk. I understand being a new employee but please train your staff on how to properly make your menu items. read more

To get to Blind Dog turn on Lucerne off US 395 and then enter the business park on your right. In other words, this is not by sight off the main road kind of place, like you'd better notice at the nearby Oi Coffee or DST in Gardnerville. I recently stopped in to meet a couple over coffee. It was a good conversation as 1 hour stretched into 2. I nursed my cup of coffee over that entire time, while my friends asked for more. My java was fresh brewed and quite good. Note that I'm a black coffee guy of which aside from expresso, I won't be ordering specialty drinks. The assortment of baked goods was inviting, so I'm sure I'll be back for that favorite combination. I'm not sure where they buy them from, maybe Schat's? In my limited experience, local bakery options drop off after that. The actual coffee shop space is roomy, both inside and out, of which our seating was comfortable. This place is off the road so you don't see if off of 395. Just put directions in your phone. We have been here at least 5 times now with the last 3 times on a Tuesday for their free coffee tasting (1p-3p). When we arrive they don't have anything ready because quite honestly, we are the first to show up asking about the coffee tasting. It normally takes 10 minutes to get everything set up. Very interesting learning about the region and flavor of the coffee we are drinking. We then sit down and try it in a little espresso cup. We then stay and order their fresh made pastries and have more coffee. The blueberry scones is my favorite! The inside is open with plenty of tables and a couch to relax. Bathroom are clean. They even have a kids area for them to play. We have taken advantage of sitting outside to enjoy the beautiful sunny day. Employees have always been friendly. Prices are pretty reasonable. I like going to Blind dog to meet friends for coffee and/or lunch. It's inviting and allows you to have a leisurely time over coffee. I have one concern about the dog house toast. It's avocado toast with a poached egg and it greens. The three times I've had it the egg is so far cooked that the hold is not at all runny. A poach egg should have a yolk that runs out when cut into it. Please work with staff on how to make a poached egg. The Dog house would be perfect with a nice runny yolk. Been there a few times already. Nice spot with good selection. The only reason for 4 stars is due to not having decaf espresso, which I'm told is coming. Though it's a family owned operated business, I love seeing that they've hired local teens. My kiddos are adults, but I also like the kiddo area. I wanted to comment on food- while the menu looks amazing on paper, the food received in two separate occasions was less than desired. First time, I had to send an order back twice- the Cubano-because 1) I received the sandwich with an ingredient not listed in the description that I don't like. 2) Sandwich came back missing two ingredients listed in description that I was looking forward to. Was told they were out of the ingredients (but didn't tell me until after I paid and got second version of the sandwich). Staff responded politely and offered a refund. Second time, I waited 30 minutes to receive a breakfast burrito that was cold in the middle, then waited 10 minutes to received it back reheated. The flavors were not a good fit, so disappointed there. Coffee is average for a coffeeshop but make be extra careful with the food, maybe just stick with coffee until quality improves. I believe its employees lacking experience/ training in the kitchen or quality control. Ambience is nice. read more

I bought a bag of the Blind Dog French Roast Coffee at Raley's the day before I came to this restaurant. I like to support local businesses. Even if the café experience was less than desired, I'm sure it will be good. The word about this place seems to be "chichi". For 31.45, I kind of expected a wee bit better. -The Dog House toast, at 12.00 with the 3.00 pork addition -Everything bagel with cream cheese 6.00, -Hot (lukewarm) cocoa at 5.00, -Drip coffee at 3.00 -Miscellaneous fee before tip. My coffee was poured from a decanter and not very hot. It also didn't taste like anything exceptional. I'll classify it as work coffee- does the job, but, that's it. The cocoa (also not that hot) had cinnamon, which would be fine IF you like that ingredient in the cocoa. Apparently, my hubby does not, and this information was not indicated on the menu. It was more like the Abuelita Mexican chocolate that I've made from time to time for myself (The presentation was cute with the milk froth leaf, but it took longer to make it look good). The small bagel with cream cheese was okay, but it looked like something I normally make myself, at a considerably cheaper rate. I had to check again on the The Dog House for my husband. When we received the item, it had a nice presentation. He was hungry. (We made the mistake of staying overnight at the nearby dysfunctional Quality Inn that did NOT have coffee NOR breakfast, due to some ongoing profoundly bad staffing and building maintenance issues. That's a strange tale for another time) Hubby told me later that it didn't taste that great, but he was starving and didn't want to wait any longer. For that amount of money, I made the false assumption that the counter staff would be kind enough to deliver the items to our table AND bus the table, afterwards. It wasn't that busy at 10:15 on a Saturday morning. This place is too hip for that kind of nonsense. We picked up the drinks and food at the counter, and bussed our table afterwards. I know, I forgot to tip. I prefer to tip AFTER I know they did the job. It felt like I did their job. read more

Employees occupied one prime table for 4 which left only available padded back seating for l, stool for another and a table too small for two plates and cups. Priority should have been given to customers and employee with laptop should have been on small table/booth/stool. Not relaxing or intimate visit with friends as there is a kiddie play area on side wall with the usual shrieks of children playing making conversation difficult. I found the limited choice of two scones to be very dry and the blueberry one sort of salty as well. Pistachio croissant with ganache (more like pudding) $10 but sweetly tasty. Some items sold out. Menu limited to quiche, frittata, burrito salad and toasts. Would have liked to have been able to order a soup or soup combo on a cold day. Coffee rated a 3 compared to other comparable coffee hops in Minden/Gardnerville. Definitely room for improvement. read more

If I could give more stars I would! The coffee shop itself is super clean and welcoming. Plenty of space to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. An added bonus, they have a cute play area for kids to enjoy. The staff is always lovely, very welcoming and kind. I have been coming here consistently since they opened and their food and drinks are always consistent each time I go. This was a difficult decision because I absolutely love their coffe but they are always so understaffed that I have just decided if I'm in a hurry, I need to hit up Oi Coffee who's coffee is still really good and the food is served much faster. Not only have I waited 20-30 minutes to get my food everytime, but they are repeatedly out of their Cold Brew, or Nitro or the Bouboun Barrel Syrup which is in their Coconut Cold Brew. I love this place but it could be managed better. Hope they can add to their staff which would greatly improve customer service and satisfaction! Again, the coffee and food is amazing but for these reason I can only give 3 stars. read more

So really disappointed, my friend got me an awesome gift certificate for Blind dog. I drive all over between Carson, Minden, Dayton and in between. She thought it would be really cool and support Local and make it nice for me to stop and have a coffee or treat. My experience, not overly friendly service, she wasn't rude just not what I'm used to from other places. I ordered a Latte and asked for Almond milk as I have problems with cow milk, I was advised they only had whole milk and oat milk, real disappointing as like I said , can't have real milk and I really don't like the taste of oat milk.
