    Split Pea Soup

Anytime I'm taking a drive through Carson, I always double-check that I'll have enough time to stop and grab a bite or dessert because it's just that good! It's such a lovely space, I love that they sell amazing local, jewelry, and other crafts (that make great gifts). The menu is ample and diverse, I love recommending this place to my vegan and vegetarian friends. If you're in a mad rush, they've got a cold case full of ready-to-eat sides, salads, quiches, and fabulous desserts. I'm typically a tuna melt girl, but decided to order the salmon melt panini and I'm fully converted now! The creamy dill sauce and havarti give a rich and tangy flavor to the smoked salmon which altogether made for a truly finger-licking lunch! My partner ordered and loved the roast beef sandwich. He's not a man of many words, but a thumbs up from him is as glowing a review as any. We shared a cup of their split pea soup, which we had no trouble finishing and pairs nicely with our sandwiches. PRO-TIP: While it may look out of the way, if you're driving from Reno to Tahoe, it only adds 10 minutes to your total drive time to stop here and grab a quick breakfast, some sandwiches, potato salad, and a sweet treat on your way to the beach! Combined with a 7am open and online ordering, it's a win-win for those early Tahoe visits!

I've had number of tasty meals at LA Bakery over the last few weeks. Sometimes I do take out, sometimes I dine in. Today, was a dine in day with friends. We had a falafel pita wrap, a veggie sandwich (personal fav), a tasty tuna sandwich (personal fav), a cup of the (Joy)soup of the day (always delicious), and a pre-prepared chicken salad from the grab and go area near the check out. Everything was super fresh, tasty and amazingly delicious. Service was friendly, and the ambiance is bright, warm, and welcoming. I noticed for the first time today, that you can also pick up pizzas and pies to take home and bake. I'll be back for one of those soon! https://labakerycafe.com

    Gold Latté

Visiting Carson City for the first time in years, I had really high hopes for this place. When we walked in I really liked how it was decorated and it had a good vibe. We came for breakfast and we had a very simple order. It consisted of a breakfast burrito, Gold Latte, a coffee and a lemon poppy seed muffin. It shouldn't be too hard to fulfill this order right? Wrong! My breakfast burrito and Gold Latte came out first. The burrito was good and the Gold Latte was also tasty. The woman that dropped off my order asked if we had anything else coming. I told her we had ordered a lemon poppy seed muffin. She never came back. Another woman came over with a muffin but it was blueberry. Wrong again. At this point, we decided to skip the muffin and I requested my money back since I was getting frustrated. No apology either for not being able to get the order right. I love supporting a women owned business but I just found it hard to understand how a simple order could confuse so many people. Perhaps there is an issue between the front of the house and the kitchen?? Maybe it was an off day but it did not seem that way.

I stopped here for a quick snack. The Carrot Cake was moist, so good. They have so many gluten-free options. The place is super cute, but it is pretty expensive. I think the cake was worth it 100%! The espresso was gross. I cannot recommend it. It was super bitter. I ended up asking them for another because I thought it was just a bad shot. A latte, a mocha, or something else would probably be okay, but it's not good on its own. For $4 (single shot), I would hope for something better.

The food and drinks were all delicious! Plenty of parking and seating. The staff are all nice a d welcoming. The smell of the freshly brewed coffee and sweet pastries linger as soon as you enter. Will definitely come back!

I just came in for a Chai Latte while waiting for an appointment. Recommended by my PT who is almost next door. It is a large open space with a HUGE walk-up counter for both in-house dining and takeout. It was clean and bright with lovely little touches such as artwork and small flower vases on the table. I ordered a Chai Latte with 2% milk, half and half, and a shot of espresso. It was brought to my table in a large cup with a heart-shaped sprinkling of spice on top of the creamy foam. Service was good and the lady who took my order walked me through all the yummy options in my drink. It was brought to my table in a reasonable amount of time. This is a block off the main drag on the north end of Curry Street. May stop by for lunch on my next visit to get sustenance before the drive back north to Reno.

    Greek Salad with Chicken

LA Bakery is still a worthy stop in Carson City, but it is also still pricey and over-hyped. I most recently ordered a Greek Salad and added grilled chicken. The salad portion was ok, the chicken portion was pretty small. The meal came to nearly $20. The salad was fine, but nothing special, and the chicken was underseasoned. On my way out, I picked up a slice of tiramisu cake for the wife and two cake pops for the kids. Another $20. The pastries here still beat out other bakeries in Carson City. The lunch rush at LA Bakery is always busy, and service is usually good, but the line moves slowly at times. Don't visit if you are in a rush, or be sure to order ahead for pick-up. Luckily, we were able to find a table inside on a colder day, but that isn't always the case here. I find myself here when I am with coworkers who want to stop in for lunch, but otherwise, my dining dollars usually go elsewhere. However, for tasty treats, this is still the place to be.

So we walk in and we get a very warm greeting. They're off to a good start, but we expected nothing less, as this is not our first visit. On this occasion, my wife and I both chose omelettes. She had the veggie omelette and I had the Greek omelette. She was able to customize her omelette and had it made with just egg whites. My wife then went off on a rant about healthy choices. And this is a tough room to make healthy choices. The baked goods here are phenomenal. Today was the first time we got out of there without sharing a piece of carrot cake. Beyond that they use good organic ingredients and 100% sea salt in their quality baked goods. As we went into the restaurant, we couldn't help but noticed that it was 28° outside and the seating area we sat in was in a room that has a bank of glass that let the sun come in and warm up the room nicely. As I already mentioned, the staff was friendly, prompt and efficient. The food came out hot and fresh and we enjoyed it. This won't be our last visit, and who knows, maybe we'll get to have carrot cake next time. It will be on an occasion when my wife's not ranting at me about health.

Stopped by this bakery for breakfast while my car was being worked on at the Toyota dealership. I ordered a breakfast wrap. The wait was longer than expected but so worth it. This wrap was scrumptious! The wrap was filled with eggs, bacon, cheese, spinach, roasted red peppers, onions, and a delicious pesto Mayo sauce. The wrap melted in my mouth. They offer so many pastries, salads and breads too. I felt like a kid in a candy shop. Ended up taking some rye bread home for sandwiches. It was tempting but this time I didn't get any pastries. Next time for sure!

One of the best outdoor patios in Carson. Their service is incredible and so quick. It's great for weekend brunch with the family (kids included). I also love grabbing lunch here mid week in between work meetings. Everything I've ever ordered from breakfast pastries to lunch is always so fresh. - Highly recommend

One of my goals in life is to show LA Bakery to as many people as possible just to give me a chance to try all their food and fresh baked treats! One of my favorite places to go in Carson city and I have not had a single thing let me down yet. Service is always amazing! It is a smaller restaurant so keep that in mind if you want to eat there, it is an order at the counter then sit down restaurant. It does get packed! Be ware if high traffic times and know that there bakes goods are made fresh daily so if you want something specific I recommend getting there early. Parking is also limited, and you can order online or to go! Grab a take out menu at the register for home and get your pies and cakes made fresh year round!
