La Bamba has weathered the COVID-19 pandemic well, and even made a few upgrades in the process. The new bar is larger and the table area next to the bar is inviting. I came in for dinner, but I will definitely come back more often for their lunch specials as well. For dinner I had the chicken with mole sauce, yellow rice and refried beans. The bartender also brought me hot and fresh chips with both mild and spicy salsa. I like them both individually, but loved the flavor when I combined them. The chicken was tender as can be. Service was great. Usually La bamba is one of our favs. This time I had the chicken with onions ( not sure of the official name) but to be honest it lacked flavor. It was bland. The rice and the maduros were really good. My husband got the burrito plate and our friends got a couple of the fajitas plates. Those were alright. Usually they are spot on but this meal was a miss for me which is unfortunate because we're from California so La Bamba is one of our go to places when we travel to Florida. read more

This is without a question, one of the best of the best resturants in Broward! The service is always fast, effiecient, and impeccabale. The food is always great, with such a large selection of items that you can never go wrong with. The bar is such a great atmosphere with a large area and TV to hang out with friends. As soon as you sit down they bring you some of the best hand made salsa out there. The chips are fresh and the salsa is chunky. Also, they have the finest/best sangria you'll get at a mexican style restaurant. Whenever I have personally reffered someone to visit, I have always recieved compliments on the suggestion. I've been coming to the Margate location with my family for at least 30 years. I no longer live in the area. But, I get my car serviced across the street. For my husband and I, La Bamba is always a must for lunch. This Tuesday was no exception. Mauricio was my waiter. He has been working at this location for 20 years. His regular customers/diners have become friends and have invited him to their weddings, birthday parties and other gatherings. That's a rare occurrence these days. I ordered the lunch portion of the chicken Enchiladas. The chicken is tasty not spicy. Comes with Mexican rice and beans. The complimentary Chips are hot and the salsa fresh and good. A few years ago they used include a delicious cup of soup and a drink with Lunch entrees. Which I always thought was generous. Now, it's a $2 add. That's fine, it was too much food. I only gave a four stars, due to the portion of the enchiladas. They used to give you two, now it's only one. And the price has gone up. Best Mexican food in Margate, Florida. The restaurant is located in, "Pepper Tree Plaza". Right next to 441 same plaza as Winn Dixie. The restaurant is very festive, small tables, as well as larger booths.It is pretty loud inside at peak meal times, but not to the point of yelling to be heard but let's just say it's typically not quiet. The service is prompt and multilingual as well. They are efficient yet professional in the manner of seating everyone feeding everyone and turning over their tables. what keeps me coming back is the food! Or ordering take out! Whenever you go you are bound to run into someone you know because it's that well recognized in the community for its food. With a spacious inside and bar, wait times are also never too bad. The food is out of this world! I always tell myself to try other choices but I can't get over how good their Flautas are. When I tell you they are the best I've ever had, I am not kidding. The portions are a great size and are always quick to order. Oh and did I forget to mention they have chips and salsa that come to the table? Well they do, and the salsa and chips are made in house so you know that quality is spot on. Even taking it to go you get the same amazing quality. I went for lunch around 12PM on a Thursday and there were about ten customers dining inside. They've implemented some COVID-19 guidelines where everyone who is working is wearing a mask, tables are spread out and they've clearly marked their entrance and exit, along with putting up a tarp at the inside entrance so those leaving and coming aren't face to face with one another. The great thing about La Bamba is their consistency at their locations. What I ordered is my go to lunch. One ground beef enchilada, yellow rice and refried beans. It's always served hot, as in watch out, don't touch the plate! Their tortilla chips and salsa are made fresh every day and they come as soon as one sits down! The spicy salsa is SPICY and their medium salsa tastes great. It's also more on the chunky side. This place is a staple in South Florida and I've dined at three of their locations...Ft. Lauderdale, Plantation and Margate for over twenty years. The waitstaff is ALWAYS attentive and available. They work as team, so there's never a need to hunt someone down. As a matter of fact, I had three sodas and not once did I have to look for someone. They spotted my drink was empty or almost empty and brought refills without me having to ask. A pet peeve of mine is when the waitstaff of a restaurant never does at least two touchbacks while a person is dining. One should never have to go looking for waitstaff, as it's why one goes out to eat and because it's how diners calculate the tip. Went to La Bamba after a day of snorkeling and it was exactly what we needed. The Guacamole was pretty standard but still refreshing. We really enjoyed the queso, I thought it almost had a slight beer cheese taste which I enjoyed. The chips they serve are really good and taste like corn tortilla, which I appreciated. My boyfriend got the flautas (not pictured) and they were great! We highly recommend them. The only place where the food lacked a little was the yellow rice for us. Nope didn't happen. Food is flavorless, beans were dried out, the shredded chicken bland and had several small bones (yes I know there's someone out there thinking I'm male version of a Karen) bit it really was bad. To top it off the server we had got in a fight with another server right in front of our table! The other guy didn't even care he had food on a tray with sizzling fajitas on it! The server was cussing in Spanish to our server! I get the industry can be stressful, was in it for many years, but to have such incidents on the floor in front of guests is unacceptable. My family and I came here for our last dinner out before we headed home tomorrow, and it was a great dining experience. The ambiance was very inviting, and the staff were extremely friendly and professional. The margaritas are very good, especially the coconut margarita!! I had the perfect margarita, and it was good, but I would not say it is "perfect." The Fiesta combination was very good, along with the yellow rice and refried beans. The queso dip was excellent, and I especially enjoyed the hot salsa with the chips. LA Bama was very busy on a Sunday night, which shows how good it is for a restaurant to be packed on a Sunday night. Since I am not living in Coral Springs, FL, I cannot come back here on a regular basis, but if I am visiting family, I will definitely be back here for lunch or dinner. If I was going to review on the food, alone, I would rate a 3/5. We ordered fajitas. Never before not served rice or beans with fajitas from other restaurants, nor asked if we wanted to add sour cream. It was cooked okay but the tomatoes were mushy. BUT, the reason for No, and a rating of max 1 star was that was a roach who decided to come up on our table to visit. I quietly dispatched our visitor and that discretely handed it to the older gentleman who was seating everyone. He took it, but said NOTHING. I read a few reviews before posting this, but, I've never had worse food served at a restaurant in my life. I kept telling my wife since the moment we walked in, let's go, but, she said, keep an open mind (as I scanned others plates). My wife and I shared the vegetarian fajita and the mixed enchilada platter. First, the salsa had no flavor, and the chips couldn't hold any salsa (they broke too easily). Next, the Fajita came out, no beans, lettuce not even really cut (I think they cut a head of lettuce in half, and then in half, and put it on the plate). The food tasted like balsamic vinagerette (the fajita toppings) and they gave a very small amount of toppings. The enchilada platter had a block of cheese melted (it was good cheese) nothing added, and white rice that was clumped together with salt. I actually will say... I'm at the 50th percentile for cooking, but, I can easily cook much better than this. The one upside was it was relatively cheap, pre-tip $34 ($6 was for adding mushrooms, to what I'm not sure as their barely were any). I think this place is gone to due to the prices, but, I'll never enter this place again. read more

Everyone worked their regular jobs plus this restaurant seven days a week to get it off the ground. Good word of mouth helped grow the business and since then the family has spread out and opened 5 other locations. On a Tuesday night I took my daughter out for a pre Thanksgiving Mexican feast at the location closest to us since she just got into town for the holiday. This location opened in 1991 and a bar was added in 1993. This place is very popular and always crowded but we got a table after a ten minute wait. On their menu you will find burritos, enchiladas, and fajitas. The menu serves Spanish, Mexican, and Cuban cuisine. We both ordered enchiladas, hers with chicken and mine with ground beef. The meals are served with chips and salsa and rice and refried beans. The portions are huge and priced fairly. We had so much food that we had some to take home for lunch the next day. The food is absolutely delicious. When someone else's sizzling fajitas sailed past our table the smell was heavenly. Next time I am going to get that. Service is always on point too. The waiter checked in several times for drink refills and to bring fresh chips. You also see the managers constantly circulating the floor. Just arrived in Florida and wanted some good Mexican food. This place looked busy and were put on the wait list but we were sat before we could even order at the bar. The restaurant was surprisingly bigger with a couple back rooms then what you would think from the front of it. We were greeted with chips and salsa and the chips were warm and the salsa was hot and mild and fresh. The food arrived very quickly and was delicious. Would recommend the chicken chimichangas. At one point we'd come every Sunday for years straight before moving to Michigan but we always come here when in town about once a month. Service has always been great and food is the usually good but over the years went from great to good-average. Like I said never a bad meal just not as great as it used to be. Here are my usual and favorites. 1. Bisteco Palomilla 2. Pollo ala Plancha 3. Fajitas steak and or chicken 4. Pork Chunks Chips and salsa are great when fresh and hot and hardly ever a miss. I really wished I could have substituted the refried beans on one of the orders (mine) because I am not into it like that but it didn't lack flavor. I ordered ahead and my food was ready when I arrived at exactly the 25 minute mark from when I placed my order (they said 20 mins but I waited a little just in case). The meals don't look amazingly appetizing in the containers but they each were delicious. Parking here really sucks and they don't have special parking for pick up orders. This meant I had to park and walk half a mile to get my takeout orders and then walk back another half a mile. This place was SUPER BUSY and it was only a Tuesday night lol.
