Our server was sweet, but not overly attentive. We had everything we needed, so it was all good. We started with an order of guacamole, which was delicious. The chips and salsa were fresh, but the salsa could have been a bit thicker. I still liked it and ate a good amount of it. We shared the steak fajitas and it was more than enough for the two of us. I walked into El Mariachi hungry and hopeful. I walked out full... and slightly confused. I went Cuban: grilled chicken, black beans, and plantains. Simple combo, hard to mess up, yet here we are. The chicken was overdone and tough, like it was part of a south side gang tough. The black beans were bland, clearly afraid of seasoning. And the plantains were undercooked, still clinging to their raw potential. No bueno across the board. My wife went Mexican and briefly gave us hope. Her fajitas could be heard sizzling from several tables away, making a grand, theatrical entrance. Beautiful presentation. Lots of noise. Unfortunately, that's where the excitement ended. The steak was overcooked, and the proteins were under-seasoned. All sizzle, no flavor. The common theme here? Just not a tasty meal. Service didn't help. It was slow, and the staff seemed far more invested in their own conversations than in, you know, serving customers. We felt less like diners and more like background extras. Credit where it's due: the music and atmosphere were nice. Fun vibe, good energy. If we were rating playlists and decor, this place would shine. this is our neighborhood' Mexican restaurant so we frequent it often. unfortunately their food is not consistent. This evening the cuban bowl would have made my grandmother roll on her grave. The pork chunks were burnt and we had to ask for extra black beans to pour over the little bit they had included in the "bowl. Very disappointing. I came here on a Saturday night and they were pretty busy! I ordered to go because I felt like eating at home with my family. I ordered the lechon asado and the chicken quesadilla. I ordered at the bar, and waited at the bar. The staff was very nice, greeted me right away and got my order in. I was surprised of how fast the food was made! As I got home I opened my food and it all looked and smelled great! The lechon was my favorite because that's my go to dish, it also came with black beans which I did not get a picture of. This was first time dining at El Mariachi NORTH location at Wiles Rd. & N. University Dr. though I tried to do so twice before going back to covid time. This time I wanted an easy Mexican Dinner, reasonably priced, with efficiency so I drove a little further than the El Mariachi South I've tried in past and where I signed up for loyalty but which has had tough steak lately. Here, no real greet but I was asked "are you here to pickup?" Needless to say I sat myself as a female staff member watched and I did not let her run away, as she started to run, before asking for a glass of water. The water came, then another female came dropping off chips and salsa. The girls never returned. I was left wondering whether anyone would take my order soon as I'd read the menu and already decided what to have. A male running by with a stack of dirty dishes asked me as he was running past and as he was about 4' away "are you ready?" I told him "I'm ready" but wondered whether he was (ready). He came back by less than 5 minutes later carrying dirty dishes and asking what I was going to have. I told him I'd like The Trio (El Mariachi Trio) from the menu and inquired whether the (lone) Taco- singular- which appears on menu as "Beef" could be "ground beef." When offered a choice between soft or crispy taco holder I chose "soft." I also stated more than once I'd like Extra SOUR CREAM because I'd need it for my ground beef taco. He told me it could be such if I wanted it to be then he started walking/running into kitchen and away from me as I stated the part about the stuffed Poblano Pepper and a (lone) chicken enchilada, all of which makes up The Trio. He seemed on board with me getting it. About ten (10) minutes later he dropped off my plate of food along w/ a separate plate featuring rice and delicious-looking Refried Beans (my sides). He was already gone when I noticed the meal plate consisted of three (3) "crispy" Tacos in taco shells (crispy) and no Sour Cream. This was wrong because I requested "soft" when asked to choose. I called him back over and told him this isn't what I ordered. I told him, again, I ordered The Trio. I asked whether it was possible to get The Trio. Again, he said "it was possible" as he took the incorrect food order away. He did not apologize. About ten (10) more minutes later the correct meal finally came out but did not have "a piece" of Sour Cream to it. The melted orange cheese on it was delicious as was the flavorful Poblano Pepper and everything. He never apologized for the fiasco type of service. Disappointing place, a time waster, and stressful. What's more is the dining room was not even busy although a steady stream of what appeared to be Uber EATS and Door Dash delivery personnel kept trickling in for pickup orders. One bright spot was I noticed - due to my form of payment used- I received a Loyalty discount of about $12.50 here without even asking. The discount almost made me feel almost whole again after such poor service. I won't be returning to this location of El Mariachi. read more

They were so popular that they expanded to this second location in Coral Springs on Wiles. I previously enjoyed dinner at their restaurant located in the Coral Palm Plaza on University Drive. My girlfriend and I met up for a mid week dinner at El Mariachi. I had previously spotted it tucked into the corner during one of many shopping trips to the plaza and I always wanted to try it. This location is smaller than the first one but I think it just makes it cozier. They have booths and tables running down the center and a few more tables out front. There is a small bar area in the rear of the restaurant. I really like the painted murals on the wall. Our server and bartender was Otto. We started out meal with the yummy complimentary chips and mild and hot salsa. Fortunately we made it in time for the happy hour $5 house margarita. Have Otto make your margarita and you will not be disappointed. Best $5 margarita I ever had. For dinner I ordered the beef chimichanga. They serve them here with rice, beans, sour cream, and guac. After filling up on chips it was more than I could finish. My friend and I both really enjoyed everything at El Mariachi. I LOVE El Mariachi so much! We come here all the time because the food and staff is amazing! I love that they have so much outdoor seating now as well. They have two locations, but this is the one we frequent most. I usually get different entrees each time I come. This past visit I got the gringos tacos, with ground beef. The tacos are the perfect combination of flavor. The toppings are stuffed in there, so you're sure to get them all with each bite. I also love that the tacos come with a side of rice and beans. So good! My mom got the taco salad this time around. She was in the mood to switch it up, and she was so glad she did! The tortilla bowl that the salad was served in was perfectly crisp, and the salad came with all the right toppings. She loved it! Don't forget to try out their cheese dip to start! We decided to try here for 'Taco Tuesday' aka Mamma didn't want to cook! I ordered the Steak Fajitas, my partner had the Chimichanga and my son the Chicken Tenders from kids menu. We arrived with 9 minutes left of Happy Hour so I ordered 2 Margaritas for myself! They also brought out chips with salsa, a salsa bowl for each person at the table, and a very spicy salsa. My friend and I met up here after work one night. We had eaten at the other location before but I actually prefer this location because it's a bit smaller and cozy inside. They also have outdoor seating if you prefer but in this hot weather I'd say no lol. We got there in enough time to enjoy happy hour and we both ordered the fantastic frozen margarita which was strong and refreshing. Sorry, I can't comment on the food because my wife and I didn't get that far. When we arrived, a couple of hostesses had a brief discussion about where to seat us and then proceeded to show us to a booth. It was pointed out to us matter of factly that there was a leak from the ceiling next to our booth and, indeed, there was a BUCKET to catch said leak! On one side of the booth where I think there would have been a full length bench seat, there was the BUCKET and a vinyl covered chair (or maybe it was part of the original booth's bench seat). But in any case, there was BUCKET to catch drops from the ceiling in the booth where we are supposed to eat. We advised the young lady we were not sitting there and we were offered another booth on the other side of the restaurant (there were many open tables). My wife asked the hostess why they would offer to sit us at the table where there was a leak, and the hostess said, "That why I told you.'' Huh? Like, I told you there was a leak ahead of time so you wouldn't be surprised, so what's the problem? I guess there is a system to assign tables and booths to the wait staff and so, by God, that booth with the leak was the next one on the list. We'll offer it and if you want to move it's OK by us! My wife and I just looked at each other. Dumbfounded. It took us a minute to imagine what the rest of the evening would be like, so we got up and left. Didn't ask for a manager, no yelling, no time for stress. But that's not the place for us. Rocco's Taco's charges $14.00 and thery make it right there in front of you. We also ordered 2 kids meals (steak asada and quesadilla), and the Chimichanga, and Tacos Gringos. When asked if we wanted shredded chicken or grilled chicken we chose the grilled. We didn't know that it was an extra $5 for grilled chicken until we got the bill! It's my first time eating at el mariachi in about 15 years. My aunt really likes this place and she always drags my mom with her. I've never really cared to go with them since I already like Tijuana Taxi and La Bamba but figured I'd give it a try with them this week since my brother was in town from Miami. The restaurant is tucked away in the corner of a sleepy plaza. There's nothing that jumps out about it from the outside. When you walk in it's more of the same. The decor is kind of a mom and pop type of place which can sometimes hint at authentic food. I looked over the menu and most dishes ranged from $16-$25. Seemed a bit expensive considering the decor but I again figured the food had to be good. I ended up ordering the Lechon Asado which was highlighted on the menu. The description praised how there was 110 ingredients and it was "unbelievable". My mom and aunt ordered fajitas and I can't remember what my brother ordered. While we waited for the food to come out, we had their complimentary chips and pico de galo. The pico was great and so was their hot sauce but I really wasn't a fan of their chips at all. We all also ordered their margaritas which were on sale for $5 each. These were a little on the sweet side but were excellent. The food came out in timely fashion but overall I was disappointed with my meal. The pork was dry and tasted like it really only had about 5 ingredients in it. I honestly think I could have made a tastier and more moist version in my own home. I was disappointed but not enough to send it back. I ate half and took the other half home. I would say it wasn't worth the $16 menu price. My brother, mother and aunt enjoyed their meals but my aunt is the only one who said that she loved hers. I think she just likes the margaritas more than anything and doesn't want to admit that that's the reason she comes...lol The service was decent, the food was decent at best and the drinks are their saving grace. Instead of the "Marco's Burrito" that comes how I mentioned before. Of course the price reflected two entrees as well. I went ahead and purchased both. I know all the restaurants have been struggling through this time. However want to give you all the heads up. Be clear and precise with your order or you may end up with multiple orders.
