Well I was going to avoid writing this altogether and address the situation with them directly over the phone, but I decided to stop wasting my time after being on hold for 10 minutes, clearly being forgotten about. The first star I gave was because I like their new location, although tucked away, there is now plenty of parking in an actual parking lot. And the second star I gave was because my husband thought his burrito was good tonight lol. My experience on the other hand, not the greatest. I called in my order for pick up, and ordered 3 different variations of the same meal. The lady who took my order seemed in a rush and I had an idea of who I thought it was as soon as I heard her voice, I'm sure there are other people who would know exactly who I was talking about and have experienced her "service" because if it's who I'm thinking, she's been there several years. Same old irritated tone every time. Anyway, after telling her the 3 different kinds of meat I wanted, she rushingly asked what the last one I wanted was so I repeated it to her and out came the attitude because she didn't communicate to me that she actually meant the first one I ordered. When I went to pick it up, it was a different younger girl who was very friendly so I brushed off the phone situation. However, when I get home to eat, I of course find that the meal that she gave me attitude for was indeed incorrect, not to mention everything seemed underseasoned and my rice had a few hard pieces throughout. Long story short to the person giving crappy service all the time, if you don't want to work in a restaurant and can't be a people friendly person, leave. There are a lot of other jobs out there that I'm sure you'd enjoy more. read more

La Bamba in Sandy, Oregon is located in a place that would be an excellent location for a Mexican restaurant. Now if they could tear this dump down, find a new owner and build one that would be great. Unfortunately this place limps along dying a slow death. A prime candidate for the show "Bar Rescue". All the adults in our party got sick after eating here on Sunday, January 5th. I had the chicken fajitas, which should be renamed sliced pepper fajitas because the chicken portion was nearly invisible. I've eaten here 2 or 3 times, and then said enough, they get no more chances. Food was forgettable, service marginal, and one time...I got sick post-eating out. Could have been coincidence, but the fact is, I wouldn't have returned even if that had not occurred. We went to your restaurant top have a mother's day dinner. Two of us orderd steak. You could not even cut it with a steak knife, let alone try to eat it because it was so tough. We sent it back and ordered a taco salad and when we paid the bill they insisted wet pay for the steak we could not eat. The waitress was abrupt, rude and insistent that we would pay for the steak. Travel to Crete Nebraska and attempt to enjoy the white rice and Frank's Red Hot and Chips at Christina's. Welcome to Oregon for us! Travelers here from the great State of Texas! With that being said.. We totally understand the need for Mexican food in your life. Houston alone has over 8,000 restaurants in the city limits in which I'm pretty sure 87% is Mexican. La Bamba left us completely "blessed" with the idea of relocating. We had the Carne Asada and Chicken with Chipotle goodness. Completely impressed. Our service was spot on fantastic and the Margarita-- CHEERS. Yes, the tortillas weren't made with Lard but you know what, I want to live more to see your mountains. The salsa and queso; no complaints. The interior was good enough that I didn't bother stoping to dust my finger in my white gloves because I was shoving my face with glory goodness. Maybe a good day? Maybe that "one time a year" experience someone else was looking for.. Either way, we truly enjoyed this experience and it wasn't because we were high from our honeymoon hike. RATS !, RATS !, RATS !. So I never have been crazy about the food here but its the only Mexican joint in town, so when my wife wants to go I say ok and I go. The food is bland and the joint is dirty. We went last week and as we were getting done and ready for the bill. A huge rat ran across the top of their little bar area, ( shingled roof), Inside not out. I don't mean mouse I mean a rat as big as a large cat. I brought it to the attention of our waitress, she didn't seem surprised, so I looked up the manager and he said he was aware but they would be moving in a couple months, but that's been the rumor for a year or so. Never offered any discounts or explanations other then that. If it had been up to me we wouldn't have paid the bill. Made me want to upchuck. What a disgusting place, never again. read more

TERRIBLE..possibly illegal! We had a large group in and asked in advance to have seperate checks. At the end they gave us a full one and said to just pay for what you ordered..which turned into a 20 minute issue to which we were overcharged. One man had taken some of the guests money and another cashier the rest and claimed the others didn't pay. On top of that all who paid on credit card he took with tip and then the last person paying with cash he showed them the card receipts and CROSSED OFF the tip amount and said that they had to pay it! That they "were not going to charge the cards the tip", but wanted it in cash from this couple! There were no signs posted saying that they did not accept tips on card; and they accepted them at first from the individuals. So the last couple did pay the rest to be nice and make sure they had a tip. Then afterwards we noticed that the total had a 15% tip for the group and he was adding a 15% tip on top of that each time people paid! To make matters worse: my card is now pending for the full amount plus the tip we had written in ( that they claimed they were not going to use- so we paid in cash)!!! This is all on top of the very grumpy, and spotty service. I wish I could give it zero stars but the system requires at least one. Terrible service. Girls would NOT stop chatting with each other and texting in the dining room. I figure it's only real attraction is the bar, however I still think adequate service would have been nice. They didn't check to see if our orders were correct and didn't refill our drinks until we stood up and had to find a waiter chilling in the back of the kitchen. The bathrooms were disgusting and not accommodating to kids other than their menu. The nachos were good but I would not come here again. read more

We stopped in for a late afternoon snack and ordered the Sampler, an appetizer for $12.50. When we got our bill, it said 'Split' $2.00. When I asked about it, the waitress was aloof and matter of fact. She said it was to cover the cost of chips and salsa. Had I known that, we definitely would have asked for a second basket of chips! I told her to tell the management that a fee to divide a $13.00 appetizer was unreasonable. She casually said, 'Ok', and told me to refer to the disclaimer in the menu. We didn't read that menu because we dine there often enough that we knew what we wanted. We just usually order meals and bar beverages also. We do have some class, the gratuity we left the waitress was still 18%, even after we reduced our tip by $2.00, the ridiculous fee that we were charged. The waitress knew that we were leaving the restaurant dissatisfied and irritated.. but she didn't care. I have eaten here quite a few times through the years as we are Sandy residents. This stupid fee ruined it for us today. It is amazing that anyone in the customer service industry would knowingly send customers out the door unhappily over $2.00. Apparently, the cost of the chips that we did not eat. Between the, 'I don't give a hoot' waitress, and being nickel and dimed, we will not be returning to LaBamba. read more

We were going to LA Bamba once or twice a month. The food was always good. The service was OK. The last few times the service was sub par, long waits while staff was chatting ignoring the customers. Three stars for food and service, though the mole is pretty good as are the beans. I am of the opinion that if you are served at a table in a Mexican restaurant it's not going to be very good. Ok...a lot of people aren't into this place. I really don't mind it...if I'm in the mood for some typical Americanized Mexican food. Overly cheesy and drenched in sauce...nothing very authentic at all. I've been here a handful of times...just ordered my food, ate, paid my bill and left. I brought my sister and niece here...they both had tummy troubles after eating. I've never experienced that from this place. They don't want to go back...but I did a couple more times. Not again. Never really thought of writing a review because in Sandy - this is probably the best place to get Mexican. I still need to try the Brothers BBQ place though...This last time, my husband and I went for dinner. He noticed that the fiesta platter had a different price on the bar menu than it did on the regular menu. Weird. This observation prompted me to really look at our receipt when we got it...YEP - We were charged totally different prices on our ticket than what was listed in the menu... Such a crappy way to run a business. I'm sure the majority of people never notice - but this mad me angry. The food is cheap...sure...but don't advertise one price then charge me another. It's dishonest and unprofessional. My husband wanted to say something as the owner was there and he was the one who actually brought out our food...but I just wanted to leave. If La Bamba this was rated for DRINKS I would give FOUR STARS. I highly recommend the margaritas all it takes is two so make sure you aren't the DD. The food however is not fresh, not authentic and not very good. I have not tried the whole menu but what I have had is mostly ,frozen not seasoned well and covered up in cheese or sauce. If you are looking for awesome drinks this is the place. If you are looking for awesome Mexican this is not where you will find it. read more

I have been going to this restaurant for years . I love it . My boyfriend told me his mom went there and found ants in her soda . I am in the restaurant business my self and kinda shrugged it off like I didn't really believe it to be true. Best margarita this side of the Mississippi. As I was drinking it I had flash backs to sitting on the white sand of Mexico beaches. Margarita connoisseur here and I give it an A+. The margaritas were terrible, the service was lousy, the salsa tasted like catsup with a few onions in it, the chips were cold, and my taco was one big soggy mess. First off, we were on the road and decided to call in our order. The menu online does not reflect any food they actually have. Whoever answered the phone was not informative and some the people we were with gave up and didn't even order anything. I ordered 3 burritos, one with no onions. She did not inform me they don't actually come with onions. In fact, all they had in them was about a pound of shredded meat and sauce on the outside of the tortilla. I always like a good wet burrito ( which I didn't actually know I was getting) but generally I like at least something else inside besides a huge pile of barely seasoned meat. (and I mean STRONG drinks, almost to the point of not enjoyable) Although, my husband's review: "I wouldn't say it's a place I LOVE, but I've always liked going there. The food is consistently good." My sister and I took our mom to La Bama for mother's day dinner. My mom and I ordered a sirloin steak dinner that cost 13.50. we could not cut it let alone eat it. We told the manager, and she asked if she could bring us something else, so we both took a taco salad that cost 7.95. When it came time to pay they charged both us the cost of the steak at not the cost of the taco salad for , because she told us that is the type of steak they use, and we had to pay for the price of the steak, although we did not eat it. I have never been anywhere that charged you for something that was uneatable. read more

Worst meal ever!!! Bad food! Cook was swatting at flys above his head with a rag in the kitchen while "cooking"! Pretty much every dish went into the microwave before it went out. I've been here once before and it wasn't great but its not like I was expecting great Mexican food when I walked in. This time I feel like I have to warn other people from this experience. I ordered the chili Colorado that I often get at other restaurants. They describe it on the menu as being similar to BBQ. I felt this was weird because that dish doesn't ever taste like BBQ. I decided to order it anyway and it essentially tasted like yesterday's old fatty steak cut into little chunks and mixed into a sweet, greasy sauce. It was horrible. So much for large chunks of beef slow cooked in a spicy red sauce. I literally ate a token amount because I didn't want to be rude all the while feeling like i may get sick. It was smokey in the dining area when we arrived which they resolved by opening the doors and creating a cold breeze throughout the area. The only decent thing about the place was the waitress.
