This is a nice little place. I've never been here before and decided to stop during my work break. I ordered the quesabirria tacos and they were delicious .the consomè had a great flavor. The only suggestion I would have is to "fry" them slightly crispier, but they were yummy. The service is amazing. You get chips and they have a little salsa bar as well. This was an Uber Eats Delivery, but sooo Good! I am a Birria connoisseur lol the meat was good, the shells still had a small crisp, it was a good taco! The consome was a bit on the watery side, but I like the big chunks of onion and cilantro. Uber Eats didn't offer sides of beans and rice, so I ordered a kids quesadilla meal. The rice was really good, it was flavorful and tasted like I made it in the kitchen and the beans and the quesadilla tasted how it should! So trying this place for the first time this evening. **Please note the reviews sighting free chips and salsa and the complete absence of a listing for chips and salsa on any of the menus.** I placed an order for greater than $30 and had my assistant pick the order up. (Oh yeah there was no listing on the online menu for chips and salsa either absolutely no option whatsoever) So my deepest apologies for thinking that the free chips and salsa bar that was mentioned in the reviews and not listed as an option with a price on any menu was complimentary as it is to all the other customers. The man behind the counter who was serving my assistant was incredibly rude and inappropriate with my assistant. When she inquired regarding chips and salsa he became angry and verbally berated her. He demanded payment for the chips and salsa and would not allow her to choose chips and salsa from the self serve bar. Instead he provided a small amount of stale chips and a single small cup of salsa or his choice. When the food arrived there was no cheese on or consume for the birria taco and the shrimp Diablo was disgusting. Needless to say the whole mess went into the garbage. So much for my Friday dinner and money. Do not waste your time, money or appetite at this place. They have no integrity with the quality of their product, their service to their customers or in their business practices. Met a group for dinner here last night. The owner is very nice and accommodating which is much appreciated but please, your refried beans are dry and gummy and the bright red enchilada sauce isn't very appealing in taste or appearance. Great dinner here after the drive up the 99 from Fresno. This place was close to our Airbnb and open till at least 9pm-since we got into town about 7:45, this was the perfect place. Very friendly and welcoming service. Seemed like a fun Friday night spot, good sized crowd in the patio singing karaoke and enjoying beers. We had a Modelo, carne asada tacos and their Americano taco. The Americano was my fav-so juicy , crispy taco shell, fresh toppings and cheese. I was a little disappointed that the Birria tacos don't come with consommé (or at least mine didn't). The pictures and reviews show the tacos coming with consommé and I checked and they don't sell it on the side so I was expecting it to be included. Unfortunately I didn't check the bag until I got to work so I couldn't go back and ask for some. For me the consommé is the best part of birria tacos so I was pretty sad. That being said, the tacos were super good (a bit dry because no consommé but still good!) and the prices are unbeatable! I just recommend asking for the consommé if you order birria:) I plan to go again to get the full experience :) read more

Nachos were fair - but I could probably do better just making my own at home. Carnitas plate was ok. Didn't try the enchiladas, but mom was happy. Salsa bar was not stocked with containers - we had to ask. As well as coffee, but that's reasonable since it was in the afternoon... still they made some and the gentleman even poured and added cream and sugar for my mom, even though it was obviously a self-serve station. Ordered a soda that they forgot to give me so I had to remind them and they said they forgot about it and forgot to charge me so I had to pay again. Also asked for sour cream on the side and they forgot about that too. Cashier was cute and patient with my mom that can be quite demanding/difficult. In conclusion, not 5-star mexican food, but it's an easy go to option if you are craving some non-Taco Bell, non-Jimboys mexican food and I would go back to try something else. read more

It's taco Tuesday! This little restaurant is off the grid (so to speak) yet they make delicious Baja Style tacos. The taco Tuesday deal is pretty good. You can get pork or chicken tacos for $1 a piece, and I decided to try 3 of the chicken tacos. They were extremely fresh and the chicken was nicely seasoned with chile and cumin (which I love), fresh chopped cilantro, onion, and garnished with sliced radishes. I ordered my tacos with extra fresh lime on the side since I love the Mexican tradition of squeezing fresh lime juice on chicken or fish tacos. An added bonus to Birria & Mariscos is the awesome fresh salsa bar. There are several types of salsa to choose from ranging from mild to spicy, red, brown, and green (tomatillo) stye. The ambiance of this restaurant is decorated in a clean simple southwest style. I love the fact that this restaurant is super clean and the noise level us quite low. Additionally, the tacos are cheap and the beer is very cold. Super delicious! The staff was attentive from the moment we walked. We ordered tacos, and got complementary chips and salsa. Best green salsa I've had! Perfect amount of lime. My only complaint is they cut the slices of lime in half, which makes it harder to squeeze onto the tacos. Wayne K. basically covered it. La Barca is a good, inexpensive casual Mexican spot where Taqueria La Altena used to be. They have a lot of burrito and taco options (including crispy tacos with housemade shells), and they serve breakfast platters and breakfast burritos. Solid food and friendly service. Not the kind of thing you make a long drive for, but certainly an attractive option if you live near by or are passing through. I have yet to to try the birria or the mariscos... since they put those foods in their name (unlike burritos) I have high hopes for those dishes. read more

Got a very nice Super Burrito tonight. I was Jonesing for Al Pastor, but they have a very similar spiced pork, but without the Pineapple. All and all a solid meal for take out, and the thing was huge. I got the chips and salsa also, and was happy the salsa was nice and picante. Bf and I both got our own 3 quesabirria tacos & consume for ~$12. Bf, though, likes his quesatacos with regular asada instead of the birria. *RANT* First off, the woman taking our order seemed to struggle on understanding what my bf wanted changed w the quesatacos but it was fixed quickly. We ordered for dine in, went to the salsa bar and there are plastic containers for the salsa. I started serving myself and the woman somewhat yelled (raised her voice in an irritated manner) at me for using the togo containers instead of the dine in salsa cups they use that were given to me moments later. Idk bout you but every taqueria I've been to I've used the plastic containers, but that's okay if either is used. It may have been poor communication through the plastic cover that separates the cashier and customer, but I did not appreciate being yelled at like a child. I was a little upset but soon as the food came out it smelled great. The birria & my boyfriends asada had soo much flavor! I'm a drinker when it comes to consume, but this consume was very bland. Deff not the worst I've had but since the quesatacos itself were good, I didn't mind the consume lacking flavor. My friend was with us also, he got a fish taco and a michelada. He paid $14-$17 just for that. Seemed pretty pricey for a one beer miche. He seemed to like it though, he killed it in minutes! Lol. The fish taco looked bland but he said it was alright. I come here once or twice a week, mainly out of convenience because i work in the same parking lot. Now don't get me wrong, I love their chile verde. Their other meats are just okay to me but because the chile verde comes in sauce, it's pretty good (my best friend does prefer their birria tacos). But their service is not the greatest. There are two girls who are wonderful--always friendly, remember my order, don't charge unnecessarily. However, I have always had a problem with how stingy they are on their chips. If you're ordering to-go they charge for chips. If you want more chips while you wait for your order, they charge...& don't tell you until you see your bill. I went with 2 coworkers and they gave us one small basket of chips and charged for more. The straw that broke the camel's back was tonight when I ordered the same meal I always get--"chile verde burrito, just cheese and meat." One, yes I know, I'm super plain. Two, more importantly, I order this way so frequently, I can often call during lunch and they knew who I am once I say my order. Well, tonight I was working overtime and decided to order the same thing for dinner. I phone in my order, and the lady is talking over me but I say my order again just to clarify and she says "ok." I walk to the taqueria, pick up my order, walk back to work and there are beans, rice & Pico in my burrito. I call and speak to a second lady, saying "I ordered a burrito with just meat and cheese and everything is in here." They make me another burrito. I walk back to the taqueria, pick up my 2nd order & walk back to work. And there are beans and rice in my burrito. I call back and the second lady said she would remake it but would have to charge me. I told her I would not pay for their mistakes. She responded that I never said "meat and cheese only," despite the fact that I always order that, despite the fact that my coworkers heard me order and despite the fact that she didn't take my original order. They refused to redo my order a third time, even though they were at fault. I will not eat here again, which sucks because it's so convenient but there is another Mexican restaurant about 5 mins away with better customer service...and they don't charge for chips! read more

We had the special of 3 birria quesadillas with consomé and when I say it is some of the best birria I have ever had I'm serious, the meat was tender and flavorful the consomé was warm and full of flavor perfect combination I do not live in Sacramento but I will gladly drive to this little restaurant and have their birria tacos, we also had their camarones a la Kora and my husband and sister LOVED the flavor and couldn't stop raiving about how good they were HIGHLY recommend this little place! read more

Real authentic Mexican food. Not only that but it's delicious food. I ordered Camarones a la Diabla (spicy shrimp) and it comes with rice, beans, sour cream, guacamole, and tortillas. Carne asada fries with nacho cheese and guacamole that didn't look super fresh, the super burrito was a good size but was exploding and broke apart. I ended up eating it with a fork. The portions were generous but tasted mediocre. There were three sauces and they were all very sour with not much other flavors. Chips come with your order if you're eating in. We've seen this place for awhile and finally decided to give it a shot. The ambiance is nice. Clean and decorated well. The michelada was really good. The menudo, while a smaller portion that was called a medium, was very tasty and a decent portion even still. Loved the homemade tortillas that came on the side. This place took over from the old La Altena on Florin and 24th street. Ordered the Carnitas nachos and two carnitas Mexico city tacos. The carnitas were just OK. Canned cheese sauce, guacamole, chopped onion, and beans. As a personal preference, I like to have the carnitas with more spices and herbs and fried after they cook them in the vat of lard. The tacos came out with a crispy shell, not Mexico City style. Prices were reasonable and the service was prompt. read more
