I have no idea how this restaurant earned an average of over 4 stars. We came here on a Friday afternoon for lunch because of the glowing reviews on this site and to say it was a let down is an understatement. First we got there and I went to the men's room to wash my hands and there was no soap or paper towels in the men's room. Which I assume is the same bathroom the cooks use so they would not be washing their hands after using the restroom. I have no idea if it had been 10 minutes since they ran out or 4 hours. The restaurant itself is pretty much a hole in the wall. So don't expect much on appearance or ambiance. The chips were good but the salsa tasted like it was store bought with some fresh cilantro put in for good measure. The waitress we had was doing the best she could from what I could tell as she had a lot of tables she was working as the place was full. I am not sure why it was full but it may be due to it was a holiday and most places were closed. I ordered a chicken burrito. My wife and son ordered the chicken enchiladas and my daughter ordered nachos with just chicken. Here is a tip don't order anything with chicken. I am not sure what this is they are serving but it unlike any chicken I have tasted. It was like chicken pellets. Both my wife and son took one bite of their enchiladas and did not take another. I ate my burrito but mostly because I was starving. I also didn't want to send back mine since we were returning two other plates. My son had also ordered tacos and said they were good so he ordered another and my wife ordered one as well. I asked my daughter how here chicken was and she said she was avoiding eating it and just eating the chips and cheese. After tip it was still $50 for one of the worst Mexican food I have ever had. I gave 2 stars only because the waitress was friendly. I think Yelp needs to check the validity of the majority of these other reviews. Taco Bell is miles better than this food. read more

We've been here twice now before I wrote this. The foos here is very authentic and delicious. Over our two visits we have had guacamole, enchiladas, tacos and chicken mole. Let me say the mole was the best I've had since I've moved from NJ 15 years ago and the guacamole was fresh made and you can tell all the ingredients in it were fresh too. The atmosphere isn't much to write home about. Not we'll lit, mismatched chairs and a somewhat boring decor but don't let that prevent you from eating here. You won't be disappointed read more

Downgrading from previous 5 stars. This brings me no joy as this used to be my favorite restaurant in macon and I would regularly make the 30 minute trek from WR. The plaguing problem with the place is it's growing too fast and the restaurant is clearly understaffed. To give you perspective, I arrived at 6:10 pm, we sat ourselves, and after 20 minutes of not being offered menus or drinks we got our own. I also found my own high chair etc. finally we had a server ask for our order at 6:45 pm, and we asked for silverware as well. Our food came out super slow, at 7:15-7:20 pm, and we ate in 10 minutes as we were already past my toddler's bedtime and he was crying from hunger and fatigue at this point. Also, we were approached 3 times by servers asking if it was our food and it wasn't to add to the disorganization. Because they don't deliver a receipt for you, I spent another 10 minutes waiting in line just to pay for the meal. The entire ordeal took an hour and 30 minutes and that includes only 10 minutes for us inhaling our food to get the toddler home and because we were so hungry. Tried it out, very quaint and rustic, I had the guacamole dip and chips, it was very fresh, heavy on the onions but I liked it. Cheese dip was not my favorite but it was good. Maybe I don't really know authentic Mexican because I ordered the Chile Relleno and it comes stuffed with cheese so I added beef. It was good but totally not what I was expecting or wanting. The refried beans were ok but runny. The cheese quesadillas were good and fresh. I would go back. read more

We stopped in Macon on the way to somewhere else and frankly, nothing else looked good. So we decided to pop in here since the menu had something other than burgers and fries. We were surprised at how good this was - better than any Mexican restaurant we've been able to find in the city where we live. Can recommend the chicken tamales and mole. Coming from Los Angeles, I have been disappointed at the lack of authentic Mexican food. This little hole-in-the-wall really filled the bill. The food is legit and is not doused in sour cream, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, etc. I was so thrilled that I was able to get real, honest-to-goodness chile rellenos, tacos barbacoas, and tacos al pastor, and I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. read more

Everyone in my office loves this place! The burritos are HUGE. The tacos are traditional Mexican tacos, served with just cilantro and onions and in a double tortilla (get the corn tortillas; that's the proper way to eat them!). I adore their rice and beans. My co-workers and I have been to La Bella Morelia several times in the past couple of months and it has been amazing each time. I have tried multiple different types of fresh mexican tacos and their rice is also very good. My favorite taco is the steak and chorizo mix, which has great grilled flavor and topped off with smokey, spicy chorizo. The cactus taco is also different, but good as well.
