A small neighborhood market with a great meat department. Very affordable and the meats are perfect to throw on any grill. I recommend the pollo asado. Big pieces of perfectly cut chicken. Amazing flavor. Prefect on tacos, in sandwiches or by itself. Delicious. Fresh produce, milk and eggs. Some Hispanic treats for the kids. Nothing too fancy. Just the basics but isn't that really all you need? Very friendly. Prices are reasonable. No inflated prices. Support local businesses especially the good ones. La Bonita is a gem in Spring Valley. Buy your meat and groceries here.

This Market has recently change ownership from Mercado International to "La Bonita Market." I stopped in after work to pick up some garlic, Mexican green onions, and some serrano peppers. The market has a nice butchery and meat counter. The chicken adobado caught my eye and will be on my list next time I come in. The garlic was the "Garlic Girl" brand and came with six bulbs for $1.69. The green onions stalks were large and looked pretty fresh so I picked up two for .69 each, which I need for a tostada party later in the week. The serrano peppers were at a reasonable price of $1.59 per pound and will go great in the salsa! Anyways, the store is smaller than most markets, but it certainly offers what most would need in a neighborhood market, like produce, milk, eggs, bread, and a meat counter. The store did need to be better stocked, but it was towards the end of the day. The outside of the building is being remolded, so I look forward to seeing the finished product. Also, the lady who was running the store when I stopped in was very nice. I believe she told me she was the mother of the owner. Nice family run market.

It sounded good but we also weren't really feeling like going "out" and something that could be delivered or that we could pick up seemed like the better play. All the typical poke places showed up when we searched but none of them really sold us. Well, good thing I remembered that Valley Farm's poke game is strong... really strong. Believe me, I know that those of you who don't know Valley Farm will likely say "really?" when I detail that this sleepy little Spring Valley market kicks out poke as good as anywhere else in SD, but it's true. It's a sleeper of a choice but the quality and price will make you a fan, trust me.

It just tasted like salmon coated in some kind of sesame oil. I still ate it with snacking seaweed but I would not buy again. -Hatch chile Caesar wrap, I liked that the wrap was soft and not soggy. Chicken was grilled and diced, lettuce was crunchy and hatch chile tasted grilled and notably cold, came with Caesar dressing on the side. There was nothing wrong with the ingredients but together it just made a very underwhelming wrap, I didn't really taste any flavor from the wrap even with the help of the dressing. I also would not buy again. Ambiance 5/5 -They had a lot of ready-to-eat food options, both hot and cold. Even though I didn't like what I got this time, I'm open to come back and try other things they have.

Granted, it was later in the evening, but there was nothing out. I went over to the produce section, and the new bags are absolutely horrible. I split five of them just trying to bag corn and ended up throwing the corn straight into the basket. Same thing with avocados -- they kept falling through, breaking the bag or ripping it. When I went to check out, there were no cashiers available. It was all self-checkout, and I had a full cart. I really didn't feel like playing Jenga, loading my groceries up and then unloading them back into the cart. I ended up doing more shopping, hoping someone would come back from break. When they did, it was packed and people were trying to leave. Very frustrating. I've been going there since it was Lucky Food Basket, then Vons, now Albertsons. I think I'm going to have to start going somewhere else. It's just not convenient anymore, and the upkeep is slipping. The people who work there -- the majority of them -- are incredibly nice. All of them are nice, but something's going on with that store!

I went in to grab the rain check (one rain check for FOUR PACKS bone in ribeye at 8.99/lb, and then TWO PACKS boneless ribeye for 7.99/lb. There was some confusion but everyone I spoke to was AMAZING. We went to pick up the ribeye today after calling and they said they had it aside for me. The manager at the front ringing us up to threatened to not honor our rain checks because they didn't make sense to her. She was arguing and raising her voice with the staff and it was a wild show. She was embarrassing the poor employees. After all said and done, she only honored the quantity of 2 on the bone in ribeye. Everyone else was amazing. The meat dept originally calling to let me know they wouldn't have it and I could have a rain check. To Bryan helping me out, and whoever I spoke to on the phone earlier today letting them know I was coming by to get them. The manager, however, is a demeaning miserable woman. Her poor employees. EVERYONE would get 5 stars, and her.... Zero. Place better management. A manager should lead by example and not treat people so horrendous. We even had to record her on our phone because she was making such a scene.

The Vons even though I shopped there from time to time needed a remodel big time. It was always a graveyard when I shopped there. Dirty old tiles, outdated fixtures and poor lighting was what I remember. Not that I didn't like shopping a uncrowded store. I just felt sorry for the business itself. Enter Smart & Final Extra, a refreshing updated modern store. It has that club warehouse feel but you don't have to pay for a membership of any kind. The aisles are no frills and you can easily find what you are looking for. You can shop weekly for your grocery and household needs with great satisfaction; but where they really shine though is when you are shopping for a party, BBQ or other special event. From paper plates and plastic cups to alcohol beverages to meats. This store has it all. One time I needed a good sharp knife to cut some carne asada for a tailgate party. I found the perfect knife there. I know dub that knife my 'carne asada knife'. They also have the biggest bags of ice anywhere. A big upgrade was needed for the old Vons. It has been answered by closing and reopening as a Smart & Final Extra. The new store is a welcome addition in our neighborhood. I am very happy they are here and look forward to shopping here for many years to come. Shop here.
