Unfortunately, what I witnessed during my visit was extremely disturbing and completely inappropriate for a business serving the public. I observed a tall African-American gentleman who appeared to be working behind the counter and running the establishment verbally belittling and repeatedly cursing at a customer. He was loudly telling other customers that this gentleman was "a piece of trash" and using other offensive language toward him. What was even more concerning was when another customer joined in and challenged the man to go outside so they could fight. The gentleman who was being targeted repeatedly stated that he wanted nothing to do with the confrontation and ultimately left the establishment. As a healthcare professional and someone who has never witnessed this type of behavior in a business before, I found the entire situation extremely unsettling--especially in an establishment where alcohol is being served. Customers should be able to enjoy themselves in a safe and respectful environment without being publicly humiliated, verbally attacked, or encouraged into a physical I believe management needs to take this type of conduct seriously and ensure that customers are treated with basic dignity and respect. I am also considering reporting what I witnessed to the appropriate agencies so the situation can be properly addressed. Based on my experience, I unfortunately cannot recommend this establishment.

I almost thought it was an 80s night with the Bowie and When in Rome I heard. There was a screen that projected a montage of photos of club attendees from previous events with the occasional Daft Punk robot picture mixed in. Other than the occasional photo, I found the house and electronic music non-existent on Daft Punk v. Crystal Castles night. There was some dancing, but the Flyway photographers regularly interrupted it to snap photos of people posing as if they were having fun. One star for trying too hard in ironic and sad fashion.

Located on a section of Pomona with numerous clubs and bars Characters sticks out as it's on the end and the sign is easy to see. As I walked in I was expecting a greasy dive bar with sticky floors and garbage lighting. No! Total opposite. Very clean and the crowd was cool. Pool tables were pushed to the side and the stage was nice and high. Sound was phenomenal and of course the bands were awesome. It's 21+ so keep that in mind if you're interested in an upcoming show. Characters was the total opposite of what I was expecting. At least indoors it's a great place to see a show. It checks all the boxes for what I'm looking for and I'd go back 100%.
