The prices were comparable to other similar places but this place also offers all you can eat (except holidays) but we did not do this as we did not have the appetite. Plenty of parking and close to Ontario Mills. Staff were very friendly. Restaurant could use a facelift in some areas like the restroom but overall relatively clean. We ordered 2lbs medium spice house seasoned whole shrimp with corn and an egg, cucumber salad, and Cajun fries. The cucumber salad has a soy/vinegar sauce. We ordered it mainly to cut the butter/salt from the other stuff, it was decent, there was a little bitterness from the cucumber. The shrimps were nice and plump, only 1-2 were overdone at the bottom of the bag. The flavor was tasty, though I would have liked chunks of garlic in the bag to enhance more flavor. The basil was different than most places we've frequented, a welcomed surprise. Although we ordered medium spice, I think it was more on the mild side. The Cajun fries had a nice bite to them, but were simply fries with seasoned salt/Cajun seasoning on top...I've had better but they went well with the shrimps. We were greeted and seated right away on a Saturday evening. Our server, Sam, was quick to get our drinks and gave us plenty of time to look over the menu. Sam did a great job taking care of us throughout our entire meal. He regularly checked in to make sure we had everything we needed, including refills, extra lemons, and pepper. The service was excellent from start to finish! My wife and I ordered 2lbs. of shrimp at $17/lb, with add-ons including corn at $1.95 each, potatoes at $2.95, and 1/2 sausage for $8.95. AMBIANCE 5.5/10 After spending way too long trying to decide what to eat, we finally settled on seafood boil and landed on The Big Catch because of their all-you-can-eat option. Walking in, our first impression wasn't great the building looked a little run down. Once inside, though, the vibe improved. It had a rustic sports bar feel with TVs everywhere, an open bar, and a seafood station. Nothing fancy, but not terrible. EXPERIENCE 7/10 The service was one of the better parts of the visit. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and took the time to answer our questions and recommend a few items. The food took a little while to come out. BTW there's a 90 minute limit after we were seated and the second round of our seafood took 30 minutes to come out (they apparently forgot our order) and they proceeded to tell us we had last call right after our second round of food barely got to the table. Not sure if that's done on purpose but we really didn't really appreciate that. Overall though, the staff definitely made the experience better. THE FOOD 5/10 Here's where things started to fall apart. The first all-you-can-eat platter came with two snow crab clusters, 1/2lb crawfish, 1/2lb mussels, 1/2lb peeled shrimp, plus unlimited sides. One thing that caught us off guard and maybe we just missed it on the menu is that after your first round, you can no longer order the snow crab or peeled shrimp. That was disappointing since those ended up being the best seafood options on the table. The snow crab was solid, and the peeled shrimp were surprisingly good the texture was crunchy and we didn't get any fishy smell or flavors. Everything after that... not so much. Round two included whole shrimp, clams, and scallops. The portions were noticeably smaller, and almost everything tasted like it had been frozen for too long. The crawfish lacked freshness, the whole shrimp had the same issue and were mushy without the initial crunch additionally the shrimp was hard to peel which makes us think that it was POSSIBLY reheated, and the scallops were tiny with a strong fishy flavor that made them hard to enjoy. Even the House/Cajun seasoning didn't do much to save it. It was too oily and honestly just tasted like salt, there was no spiciness either and we got the hot flavor. Ironically, the sides ended up carrying the meal. The cucumber salad was fresh and crunchy, which balanced out some of the heavier seafood, and the sweet potato fries were honestly one of our favorite things we ordered. And one last thing... somehow even the water tasted off. We ended up paying 90$ for 2 people which you can argue is good since it's an AYCE seafood meal but afterwards after speaking to the waiter we found out the shrimp and crawfish was indeed frozen that along with all the other disappointing food doesn't make us feel like it was worth the money. The waitress was attentive, and the food came out within a reasonable amount of time. We started with drinks, which were just okay. Small portion, weak and just not good. We didn't order a second one. They have "packages" but they mainly include the items that aren't very favorable like mussels, crawfish, clams and whole shrimp. Now if that's your go to, then you're good to go; however, in order to get the good stuff, like crabs, peeled shrimp, and lobster, you'll have to add it on, and before you know it, your bill is high! Would have preferred 2 larger pieces rather than the 6 small pieces they bring as you appear to get more breeding than catfish this way. Tasted great dipped in lime salt/pepper mix! The Cajun fries. They were thick and doughy. How can they mess up fries?They tasted cheap; like worse than the usual frozen fries that you buy from a grocery store and put in the over. This was a big fail. I love having fries with my seafood bag and catfish. Out of every single place I've had like this, these were the worst fries. Couldn't even get through half even though they were very stingy with the portioning. The shrimp and sauce were very good. I really liked that they offer 1/2lb options as no other places do. Super glad I finally got a chance to try this place out! We came on a Saturday afternoon and was seated promptly. Our waiter was super friendly and got us water after we sat down. She explained the menu to us since it was our first time there. We ended up ordering 2 lbs of shrimp with their house mix special sauce & catfish basket. If you have a bigger group they also have combo deals that are definitely worth. Their sauce was super flavorful and their shrimp wasn't mushy! It wasn't super salty either. We had a work dinner here tonight and the experience was excellent. The food and server were great. We did have a reservation and our table was ready shortly after arriving. We have tried a few Cajun boils in the area but most were pretty disappointing. The Big Catch was one of the better ones. The raw oysters were served with Tabasco sauce and lemon wedges, and our server provided cocktail sauce upon request. They were fresh and decent size; no complaints at all. The fried oysters were a great appetizer, a nice breaded coating and had a nice flavor. The fried calamari was also a great choice. They were cooked with a light batter and season with some peppers. There were so many appetizers on our table that I can't remember them all. The main course was the boil. We had a pound of each: head on shrimp, black mussels, green mussels, clams, sausages, and 6 corn on the cob pieces. I would have to say the cajun seasoning was on point. The shrimps were a bit smaller than what I've had at other places but were still quite good. Clams were perfect, and the black mussels were too (when you were able to get one that was an empty shell). The greens mussels were ok, they are larger than the black ones but the flavor was much more tame, and on the half shell (which usually means they were frozen). Depending on how much you order, you can get up to three free addons. Which makes it an excellent deal if you are feeding a decent size group. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and the service was top notch. I would recommend this location if you are in the area and want a good seafood boil. read more

I visited this restaurant yesterday with my cousin, and unfortunately it was a disappointing experience. The place was pretty empty, yet the service was still very slow .To be fair, there was only one girl handling everything!! seating guests, taking orders, and serving food, while another man would occasionally come by to drop something off and then disappear. The food was the biggest letdown. The sauce was extremely dark, thick, and bland, with abt 6 large bay leaves in it. It also had a very bitter taste that overpowered everything. On top of that, the menu is very limited, only two combo options. If you want crab and shrimp together, you're forced to buy them separately, and it's not cheap The only upside was that they had a deal where if you spend over $70 before tax, you get a free item from a selected list. Also, the crab meat and shrimp themselves were very meaty and fresh, which is the main reason I'm giving this place two stars instead of one. Overall, I wouldn't return. Server made sure we had proper amount of bibbs, gloves, lemon, salt and pepper and napkins. Everything was perfect except for the snow crab. Good thing the corn that came with it was not over cooked and full of flavor with some basil leaves. Hope you would add king crab legs to your menu in the distant future. We found ourselves driving around looking for a place to have dinner after running into 3 hour wait times at several other establishments. After driving by Big Catch a couple of times we decided it was time to try it out. No wait time, we walked in less than an hour before closing and couldn't have been greeted by a more friendly host/server. Staff was attentive, friendly, had great recommendations, and did not appear annoyed at all by our late arrival. There were 4 of us, we shared the pounder which consisted of mussels, clams, shrimp, crawfish, snow crab, and lobster. The menu said it included scallops but we didn't find any in the mountain of seafood we received, but didn't notice until we left, there was more than enough food without it. We were able to select 2 free appetizers and selected the pound of peeled shrimp (omg so tasty!) and the Cajun wings, both were delicious! Our server suggested a combination of the lemon butter and lemon garlic sauces and it was the perfect combination for the meal. I'd never had crawfish and can't say it's my fave but, everything was delicious. The pounder included red potatoes, corn on the cob, and kielbasa. Guys, words can't express how delicious everything was. We left the restaurant more than satisfied, no complaints from anyone. The staff is attentive to us. When you check in Yelp they give free Cajun fries do don't forget to do that. We had a party about 16 people and they are ok with dividing the check per couple which is convenient. They have daily happy hour special deals like if you you spend $60 you get 1 free item, spend $120 get 2 free items and lastly spend $180 get 3 free items. They did boil it then grilled it with melted butter. Wish it had some Cajun seasoning. Their catfish was good. Fried very well and came with tartar sauce. Felt the batter on the catfish needed a little seasoning. However, their house made Cajun sauce saved it! It was incredible and definitely lifted the flavor profile. The tacos were really good!
