    Tanto Latte Burrata
    Spoonful.of.Jaes S.

La Buca is such a cozy and quaint restaurant, located in the west side of Vancouver! The service, food and ambiance was all amazing! This is what we tried: Tanto Latte Burrata - Apparently the burrata is made in Salmon Arm! I LOVE a good burrata. Perfect pairing with the toasted bread, prosciutto and date/onion jam! Saltspring Island Mussels - I don't typically like mussels because of the fishy flavors, but these mussels were not fishy at all, and tasted really fresh! The bread was so good with the sauce. But because I don't usually eat mussels, I can't tell how it compares! Rigatoni Guanciale - Both my mom and I really like the olive flavor in this dish! I do wish there was a little bit more meat in this dish (but that is only because I love meat). Duck Breast, Faro, confit cipollini with a cherry balsamic jus - The duck breast was cooked perfectly!! The skin was crispy, and the duck breast was delicious. Not to mention the cherry balsamic sauce! Sadly we were too full for any desserts, but hopefully we will get to try the next time we come!

La Buca is a beautiful and intimate little spot that I would absolutely recommend. This is a great date spot as there are only ten tables available, with the largest set to four (unless previously reserved for a bigger party). The lighting is dimmed and the wood is dark. The presentation of their food always excites. The reason I'm docking a star is for their inconsistency. Sometimes I come and have the best meal and other I leave disappointed. What I will say is, you can never go wrong with their burratas or panna cottas. All their food is seasonal, and the menu changes often, but these both seem to be around whenever I'm there. The service is good, as it's a small space they only have two people on the floor typically, and while they do watch over you, they are of course a little busy during peak times. I'd absolutely recommend you try this spot if you live around Kitsilano and like Italian food. Do try to make a reservation as it is a small space.

Came here with a group of 3 and sampled the following: * Crispy halibut balls (special that evening - 4/5 STARS) * Tagliatelle bolognese ($25 - 4/5 STARS) * Spaghetti carbonara ($21 - 3/5 STARS) * Endive salad ($14 - 2/5 STARS) * Pannacotta (2/5 STARS) Good service, cute atmosphere, limited seating and authentic Italian food. Overall good flavours and tons of weekly specials.

My wife and I were introduced to this Kits special at Macdonald and 24th before we moved to BC...it's no Terroni (for those of you who spend time in Toronto or LA) but it's a really nice Italian spot. Pastas are made in house and rise about the traditional. Meats are done inventively and appetizers (we have a great platter of antipastos) are exceptional. A couple things: this spot fills up fast! We came at 6:15 and were told we could have a table....if we were gone by 7:30! I was slightly perturbed but aside from this the service was exceptional. Another downside: no cappuccino or espresso machine! Oh well, you can't have true perfection.

I had never heard of La Buca before we made a quick decision (there were 3 of us) to have dinner there last night. We went to town, so while the food below may seem like a lot for 3 ... it was, and we absolutely destroyed everything it was so delicious. Totally easy to drive past, an odd location to be sure, but convenient street parking, and a quaint, tiny little restaurant gives it a really homey, warm feel. Appys So we took it fairly easy with this round. + Radicchio Caesar salad - Delicious. I've personally had better and would have preferred a little more anchovy, but that's just me. + Sauteed Prawns - This was the best appy we had. Very tasty. + Beet Salad - this was off their daily menu and was delicious, although it's the type of beet, greens, walnuts, cheese with a dressing salad that you see a lot of nowadays. Mains For some reason we didn't get any pasta - that will change on our next visit. + Snapper - it came with risotto which was all very well done, and a great dish. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/la-buca-restaurant-vancouver?select=OqtVrK3asILUyZnbyq9OXQ#OqtVrK3asILUyZnbyq9OXQ) + Grilled Branzini - this was stuffed with a fennel stuffing and looked fantastic (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/la-buca-restaurant-vancouver?select=OqtVrK3asILUyZnbyq9OXQ#j7NpGjd23YNPo-_bWxMnPg) + Bistecca Fiorentina - This was the star. So, so awesome. It could have been trimmed just a little more, but all in all, tasty beef, and love the onion rings. :) (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/la-buca-restaurant-vancouver?select=OqtVrK3asILUyZnbyq9OXQ#kcK3FWo9PO70k91NnmFVPg) Dessert There were four dessert offerings. We got all four. + Tiramisu was great, Panna Cotta was silky smooth, creamy greatness, donuts were tasty - although it would have been nice to have more than just 3 for the order, and we got a choco cake too. All in all a great meal. Wonderful service, and it would have been nice to have some more non-alcho drink offerings, but I realize this place is limited so it was all good! We'll be back for pasta next time :)

Took my wife here for her b day this past summer and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The cab ride from downtown to this small and unassuming location was definitely worth it! The room was small and intimate (reminded us of Pied a Terre and La Quercia), and was a located in semi-residential neighbourhood. When we arrived (Wednesday) the room was literally empty, so the service had no excuse to be lacking...and it did not. Prompt, polite, and personable. We both ordered the tasting menu and were satisfied with not only the price but (most importantly) also the flavours. Each plate screamed Italian with a refined flare. While I would recommend La Buca for special occasions, I would also recommend it to anyone who is in the mood for a nice weekday meal (as long as you live in the neighbourhood though).

The service was also great, with multiple people checking in on us. The corkage, at $20, is very reasonable and the restaurant even comp'ed our tiramisu! We will miss it once it is gone. The food was quite decent. I thought the prices were a bit inflated for just pasta, but the portion size was pretty massive -- most of us took leftovers to go. The sauces in general were a bit bland and the pasta was definitely cooked to beyond al dente, which isn't my preference for dried pasta. That said, the toppings were generous, especially for the linguine crab that I ordered (would highly recommend!). Come by before they close permanently!

Creamy but not too heavy I wish it had more bacon but it was delicious all around. The daily special veal was also amazing. The veal was juicy and perfectly seasoned and paired with the creamy pasta was perfect. We ended with the panacotta which was fresh, fruity and light! Will definitely be back!!

My friends and I recently shared a few dishes here, and while the flavors were truly impressive,…read morethe portion sizes left us wanting more. We started with the complimentary bread, which was a total highlight. Each person gets a fresh slice that has an incredible crust and a soft, pillowy center--dipping it into the oil and vinegar was the perfect way to start the meal. For our mains, the Gnocchi Asparagi e Funghi was my favorite - the gnocchi themselves were clearly handmade and had a great texture that didn't feel heavy. The earthy mushrooms and asparagus worked really well with the parmesan cream, which was rich but didn't overpower the other flavors. The Squid Ink Linguine ai Frutti di Mare was also solid; the lobster bisque base gave it a deep, savory saltiness that coated the clams, prawns, and scallops perfectly without making the dish feel too "fishy." We also tried the Candele Al Ragù D'Anatra. The duck ragu was tender and savory, and the combination of the parmesan fondue and aged asiago added a nice, sharp saltiness that made every bite really satisfying. Everything we ate was seasoned perfectly and tasted fresh, it's just a shame the portions were so small because the flavors were definitely there. The service was excellent and very attentive; I especially appreciated that they were constantly on top of refilling my water throughout the night. The ambience also hit the right note, making it a great spot for a night out. However, the portions are definitely on the smaller side and aren't super filling. Even though every dish tasted amazing, we weren't full by the end of the meal, so it's something to keep in mind if you're arriving with a big appetite.

Service was fabulous. Food was superb. The Tiramisu was simply to die for. Best we ever had.read more

We absolutely loved their house-made pasta during that visit, so we knew we had to return and explore more of the menu. Ambiance - 4/5 One of the things we appreciate most about this restaurant is the outdoor seating. On a beautiful day, it's a wonderful place to enjoy a meal, especially if you're dining with a dog. Being able to relax outside with our pup made for a very enjoyable experience. Service - 3/5 Service was friendly, but not quite as attentive as during our previous visit. Our server was pleasant, though there were a few missed opportunities to enhance the experience. For example, we weren't informed that alcohol could not be served in the outdoor dining area until after we had already started looking at the drink menu while we were in the middle of dining. Food - 4/5 The highlight of this restaurant continues to be its house-made pasta. The texture is wonderfully chewy and perfectly cooked, giving each dish a freshness that's difficult to find elsewhere. This visit, we tried the mushroom tagliatelle with truffle rosé sauce. While the description sounded incredible, the dish didn't quite live up to our expectations. It was enjoyable, but we still preferred the bolognese from our previous visit and cacio e pepe from this visit, both of which showcased the pasta more effectively. We also ordered the gnocchi, which was well prepared and satisfying to certain extent, but it didn't surpass our favorite one from San Francisco. The pesto sauce was just okay. If we order the gnocchi again, we'd likely try it with a tomato-based sauce instead. Overall Value - 4/5 This restaurant offers excellent value, particularly for pasta lovers. The quality of the house-made pasta alone makes it worth a visit, and there are still several dishes on the menu we're eager to try. We're already looking forward to returning and exploring more of what the kitchen has to offer.
