There was three of us and one ordered beer and one water and one tea .the tea tasted like dish soap and the water tasted like overpowered dish soap so switched up for cokes and they were syrupy so we had nothing to drink ..the food was decent and service sucked ..I would not recommend the restaurant read more

Lots of cars in the parking lot! We're from out of town. Just passing thru. At the mercy of hotel rec. pleasant atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor seating. Pleasant greeting by staff. . Food was DELICIOUS! Marg was TOO big but really good! Garnish on the marg as well as all food appeared really fresh and that's super important to me. White hot cheese, guacamole and homemade salsa are are to die for. They're not afraid to give you a good quantity. You definitely get your money's worth I always have food to take home. The staff are all long time employees so they work like clockwork. The consistency is on point at any time of the day. Honestly... not great. But, you kind of have to limit your expectations in a place like Rockingham, NC. If you're on your way to or from the beach, and you want mexican food, this is basically your only option. It's not going to thrill you, it might even let you down, but for the most part you'll get average mexican food here. At least the times I have gone, that has been the case. Other reviews are reporting wild swings in the service and food quality. The two times I have been, its been consistent in both taste and service. This was my worst experience at a Mexican restaurant. The salsa tastes lIke canned tomatoes and the chips were old. I ordered pork carnitas and a margarita and it was awful. I tried to go in and sit outside on the patio, one reason, I didn't have a mask, second it is a great night. Before I could ask about sitting outside, the hostess and her bad attitude cut me off, asking "Do you have a mask" I said no, but I... " We can't serve you, you need to read the sign" I said ok, but...." The only thing you can do is order outside and wait on it." This was one of the few Mexican restaurants in the area that were open on Sunday. My family and I were just making a quick stop to see something in the area then we were heading back to Charlotte. This place was very cute and festive on the inside. The music was a little annoying. It kept cutting out and we were stuck listening to white noise for a long time. Our waiter was not very good with English. He had to ask us about our order a handful of times. Despite that, he was very sweet. I appreciate the fact that he was trying to get our orders correct. I don't remember every single item that all 5 of us ordered. But I took pictures to share. The chips and salsa were amazing. There were 2 types of salsa. One was thinner than the other. What I found horrendous more than anything was the piss poor service. After the waiter served my table with our orders, we weren't being tended to at all. There wasn't a single instance where the waiter returned back to my table and asked if me and the people I dined with if we were alright. My cousin wasn't even given the courtesy of getting a refill when she finished her beverage halfway through her meal. For the remainder of our dinner, my cousin and sister watched as other diners were being tended to while we were ignored the entire time. This is my ultimate go to spot whenever I go home for a visit. MiCasita's used to be Richmond County's numero uno Mexican spot, then came Fiesta Brava, but neither can top La Cabana. The service is always spot on, the food delicious, and prices are phenomenal! And it's an old lime green Hardee's, for pete's sake! And Zac Efron has eaten there! How many more reason's do you need? Seriously though, I'm chopping down as we speak on leftover fajita taco salad (chicken...my absolute fave) and it's so good, even reheated. Comparing it to the top notch Mexican in Cali (SF Mission and Mountain View), this place holds up! I ordered the spicy carne asada version and it surprised the hell out of me. I love Mexican food, and I know that it can be hit or miss. This was a miss for me. I ordered a combination platter: chili relleno, chalupa, and burrito. I expect a chili relleno to be a green chili stuffed with cheese, breaded, and fried. I got 1/4 of a green chili, ground beef, and cheese layered on the plate. It was strange. The burrito was a flour tortilla filled only with ground beef (no veggies--cooked or raw) and tomato sauce on top (Italian tasting). The chalupa was a tostada with beans, lettuce, and guacamole on top. I understand that there are regional differences in food prep--so if the description above sounds like what you would expect, you will love this place. There were lots of families there (Wednesday night kids eat free), and the service was fine. They have a deck area that would be nice to have a few drinks with friends (sangria, beer etc). Absolutely amazing food! The atmosphere is typical of your authentic Mexican restaurant. Very cheap, very loud. The crowd that this place attracts is interesting. It seemed like a local hang out for college kids when we were there. The beer was served in a frosted mug and they had a few cervezas that I've never heard of and tried. The only bad part of our experience was the time we spent waiting to get our check when we were done eating. The quality of the food was spectacular and the size of the portions was more than enough to fill you up. The staff was very courteous and helpful, and the food was excellent - one of the best Mexican meals I have had in a long time!! The salsa for the chips was provided in hot and mild, and the hot had a very nice (but not overpowering) kick to it. I ordered the cheese steak , and it was wonderfully prepared! The steak itself, which I ordered medium, was perfectly done, very tender, and smothered in onions, mushrooms, and nacho cheese. Our waiter kept our drinks constantly refilled, and was prompt but not pushy with the check. All in all, I would highly recommend La Cabana to anyone! read more

Presentation was good but the burrito supreme I received tasted rather bland ( put the salsa that came with the chips overtop of it to make up for it). We are traveling and this was a good restaurant to stop at for a quick meal. Very fast service. The server got my order wrong, but whatever it was he brought me was pretty darn good. We dined with friends Saturday night. The place was packed with locals and with good reason. I ordered a shrimp dish with chopped onions and peppers and jalapeños- it was delicious. Everyone liked their food and it came promptly - considering how packed they were - and the waiter kept drinks filled.
